Want to know what to eat, what to do, how to get around, and how much a 5-day, 4-night trip to Tokyo will cost? Be sure to watch until the end ! Hi everyone! I’m Leo~ Following our previous trip to Paris, France, this time we’re in Tokyo, Japan. This trip is special because Ashley is planning a relaxing getaway for me, so I didn’t participate in any of the itinerary— he arranged everything! For the next 5 days and 4 nights, we’ll explore the city on the first day, and on the second day, we’ll take a peaceful day trip to Nikko to escape the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. The remaining three days will be spent exploring the city and eating lots of delicious food. Come along with me and see what fun things to do in Tokyo! Let’s… Tokyo is the capital of Japan. The Tokyo metropolitan area, centered on Tokyo, has a population of over 38 million, accounting for about 30% of Japan’s total population, making it the world’s largest metropolitan area. This trip started in Kaohsiung , flying AirAsia there and returning on the newly launched United Airlines. Both were small, single-aisle planes , but with screens, much better than EVA Air’s A321. The round-trip tickets cost around 10,000 NTD , but given the Mid-Autumn Festival and Double Ten holidays , it was acceptable. The flight started smoothly today. Originally scheduled to land at Narita Airport at 12:55 PM , our plane took off and landed earlier, arriving at Narita Airport around 12:10 PM. Then, at 1:55 PM, we were already out of customs because we only had two carry-on bags, so the process was very quick. We had already exchanged our Skyliner tickets, and at 1:16 PM, to get to Ueno, we first needed to find this machine. We redeemed our tickets using a QR code; we scanned the code. At 1:16 PM , we arrived in Ueno and got our Skyliner tickets. The ticket machine was right next to the gate . We then took the train to Ueno. Because our Skyliner tickets included a 24-hour subway pass , we needed to find this ticket machine and press QR. We redeemed our 24-hour subway pass using the code . Our first meal in Tokyo, Japan was at the Godaime Hanayama Udon Nipponbashi branch . I heard it’s less crowded there. I just checked Google reviews and it has a 4.4-star rating, which is pretty high. Some reviews even say it’s a must-try udon in Japan. Let’s try it! This place uses a QR code to order, and it even has Traditional Chinese characters, which is nice . Today we ordered these two dishes: Onizukawa noodles (thicker noodles) and another type of udon (thinner noodles). I ordered the thicker noodles they recommended. First, I dipped it in this Japanese sesame pepper sauce. The Onizukawa noodles were incredibly chewy, and since it’s cold, the chewy texture was amazing! The sesame pepper sauce had a rich sesame aroma and a slightly spicy pepper flavor. Ashley’s regular sesame sauce is pretty average , but I think this Japanese sesame pepper sauce is more unique. The soy sauce is quite sweet and refreshing , without any… It’s not too strong in flavor , and it has a light sweet aroma, which is quite nice . Now let’s eat the last one, which is curry sauce. Unlike the other three , this curry sauce is hot . Cold noodles are dipped in hot curry , which has a different flavor. The curry sauce is a bit stronger in flavor. I personally think curry is more suitable to go with fried pork cutlet. So I think today’s number one is this black sesame Japanese pepper one, which is super delicious. Now I’m going to eat tempura. The tempura has fried shrimp, pumpkin , and eggplant . I’ll eat the fried shrimp first. The tempura is quite delicious . The batter is fried very crispy and thin , not too thick or greasy. I didn’t pay attention just now and thought this was eggplant . It’s actually shiitake mushroom. So there are four kinds of tempura in total. The flavor of mushrooms is the strongest. I don’t particularly like shiitake mushrooms. I think it’s okay. How to get to Godaime Hanayama Udon Nipponbashi Store? Take the subway to Nipponbashi Station, Exit C4, and walk for two minutes. Now that we’ve finished eating udon, we’re going to check into today’s hotel, this one is VIA. INN Nihonbashi Ningyocho branch looks pretty good! As clean as ever . We stayed here last time we went to Osaka. They have luggage scales and a luggage storage area. This hotel exceeded my expectations because it’s such a large hotel, only a four-minute walk from the subway station in central Tokyo. You could practically roll around in this space! It’s huge! And the bed isn’t on the side; there are aisles on both sides. There’s also a small platform against the wall for storage , so I think the storage space and overall environment are very spacious . The bathroom is also very large. This hotel really amazed me! And it’s only NT$1500 per person per night, which is a great deal. I highly recommend this hotel. The only minor drawback is that when the window is open, it faces the building next door, so while there’s natural light , the view isn’t great. How do you get to VIA INN? PRIME Nipponbashi Ningyocho. Take the subway to Ningyocho Station, Exit A6, and it’s a four-minute walk. After having udon noodles for lunch, we went back to the hotel to rest and took a nap for about an hour. Now we’re going out tonight to explore Shibuya. Behind me is Shibuya Crossing, the world’s busiest intersection, with an average of 200,000 people crossing it every day. On special holidays, it can even reach 500,000! Okay, let’s take a quick look around Shibuya today. After dinner, we need to hurry back to sleep because tomorrow is the highlight of our five-day, four-night Tokyo trip : a day trip to Nikko. Shibuya’s PARCO feels bigger and more numerous than those in Hokkaido , and it looks like a great place to shop. This PARCO looks very fashionable , exceeding our expectations. Each store has its own style, and there are even art displays inside . Now we’re at Pet Paradise to check out our furry friend. Are there any good toys or clothes for him to wear? Wow, there are all kinds of toys! They all seem so suitable for Duo Mao! This one has a hard edge , so it’s perfect for dogs to chew on. Otherwise, many of our toys are destroyed in a day. I’ve decided to buy this Stitch chew toy for Duo Mao because he’s a dog, and this Stitch alien dog chew toy is perfect for him . It’s a brand name! It’s LEE! Wow, they have so many styles here! I’ll also buy this hoodie for Duo Mao so he can wear it when he goes camping in the mountains. Every time we go to Japan, we bring one set of clothes and a spare set. We buy the rest locally. Now we’re going to GU to buy clothes for the next three days. We didn’t get enough shopping at GU , so let’s check out UNIQLO. Lawson’s big shopping spree! Our dinner: Lawson’s must-buy fried chicken , and two main meals. Tomorrow’s breakfast: of course, dessert is a must! Ham, raw cheese , and a big bottle of milk. How do we get to Shibuya Crossing? Take the subway to Shibuya Station, Exit A8. Good morning everyone! Today is my second day in Tokyo. We’re heading to Nikko now. Nikko is located in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, less than two hours from Tokyo. It boasts the World Heritage Site of Nikko’s shrines and temples , as well as stunning natural scenery. It’s a city surrounded by mountains and history. We’re now at Ningyocho subway station , just a four-minute walk from our hotel, quite fast. Then we can take the subway, which takes about ten minutes to Asakusa . Our 24-hour subway pass is still valid, so this transportation cost is quite low. We’ve already bought the Nikko Rail Pass, so all transportation is included in that pass. We need to catch the 7:00 AM Tobu Limited Express train. We’ve arrived in Asakusa now and need to walk to the Tobu Line to catch it. If you don’t have the limited express pass, you can only take a regular train, which takes about three hours . We’ve decided to buy the limited express pass. Our Tobu Limited Express is quite new. We’ve arrived at Tobu Nikko Station at 9:00 AM . As soon as we exit, there are buses here. We need to go to Toshogu Shrine, so we need to go to platform 2B to catch the bus . Our 9:10 AM train from platform 2B has just arrived. There’s also a sign here that says you can scan a QR code. Our Nikko Free Pass code . The path here feels very tranquil , and importantly, nobody has it yet! It’s a bit like walking up this big uphill slope to reach the entrance of Toshogu Shrine. The highlight of this trip is Toshogu Shrine , which has over 400 years of history and is dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu , the first shogun of the Edo Shogunate and the hero who ended the Warring States period. When we arrive at Toshogu Shrine, we ‘ll first see the five-story pagoda. If you’re an individual visitor, you’ll have to queue here. Since we bought our tickets on KKday , we can queue for number 7. The group entrance is less crowded. We used QR codes… You can exchange the code for a physical ticket. There were only three people in line, about two minutes, it was very quick. The ticket features a beautiful picture of the Yomeimon Gate , and there’s a map in the background. Now, we’ll enter through the Outer Gate and walk to the Shinto Shrine to see the Three Monkeys . There are many carvings of small monkeys on it, which is a must-see. The Three Monkeys are these three, and they bear the life motto of “Do not look at what is improper, do not listen to what is improper , and do not see what is improper.” Opposite the Three Monkeys is the Imaginary Statue, which is also a must-see. This Imaginary Statue is somewhat like an elephant, yet not quite. It has a mythical feel to it. After climbing the steps, we’ll see the Yomeimon Gate, known as the most beautiful gate in Japan. It’s carved with Chinese folk tales and has over 500 carvings. It ‘s also called the Sunset Gate. After entering through the Yomeimon Gate, we’ll now go to… I visited the Gohonsha (Imperial Main Shrine) , but photography was prohibited and shoes had to be removed. After viewing the shrine , I found it incredibly beautiful. I loved it. Upon entering, there were golden staircases, creating a magnificent, opulent atmosphere. The material was slightly slippery, so be careful going up. Inside, the walls were adorned with portraits of ancient figures, reminiscent of the shogunate. The ceiling featured numerous dragon carvings. The interior was furnished with tatami mats, giving it a very antique and elegant feel . It was definitely worth seeing. Besides the three monkeys and the imaginary elephant at the entrance, the last three large sculptures were of a sleeping cat . The sleeping cat is famous because behind it are sparrows, considered natural enemies of cats, yet they seem quite happy. This symbolizes Tokugawa Ieyasu , who pacified the Sengoku period. The symbolism is quite nice. After passing through the door of the sleeping cat, there’s a staircase with over 200 steps. Going up leads to the Okusha , the tomb of Tokugawa Ieyasu. Just keep walking up this way. Since we’re in a rush today , I won’t go up. If you come, you can go up and see what it looks like. How to get to Nikko Toshogu Shrine? From Tobu Nikko Station, take bus 2B and then the N line to Nishi-Sando Station. It’s a 10-minute walk from there . If you take the less frequent W or SL line, you can get off at Futarasan Shrine Station. The walk is an easier downhill path. After our visit to Toshogu Shrine, we ‘ll walk this main road to Futarasan Shrine. Nikko Toshogu Shrine , Futarasan Shrine (which we’re going to visit now), and Rinnoji Temple near the entrance are all must-sees in Nikko. The attraction is in front of the torii gate of the shrine. There’s a small hammer for good luck in finding a partner. I guess you hit it to pray for a good match. Futarasan Shrine enshrines the main mountain of Nikko, Futarasan , also known as Nantai-yama, and is a sacred place for praying for marriage and family peace. How do you get to Futarasan Shrine? You can walk there after visiting Nikko Toshogu Shrine , or take a bus to Futarasan Shrine Station. We’ve finished visiting Futarasan Shrine and are walking back to Toshogu Shrine. Wow, it’s 10:30! We arrived early this morning, around 9:30, and there wasn’t much of a queue. Now the queue is like this! It’s ridiculous. At times like this, I highly recommend buying KKday tickets directly. You can enter through the group entrance next to it. I saw that the group entrance is the same, and there’s still not much of a queue. We’ve already visited Toshogu Shrine and the Shinbashi Bridge at Futarasan Shrine. It’s a vermilion wooden Taiko Bridge. It’s also one of Japan’s three most famous bridges, known as the Tochigi Bridge. I think the clear, flowing water beneath it is incredibly beautiful. How do you get to Shinbashi Bridge? You can visit Toshogu Shrine and walk downhill, or take a bus to Shinbashi Station. It’s starting to drizzle a little now, and we just happened to see a shop along the way. Let’s go in and rest, take shelter from the rain, and grab something to eat. Here we are—their crepes are incredibly thin with a subtle lemon flavor; you can taste the natural taste. It’s my first time trying soy milk ice cream, and it’s amazing! The soy milk flavor is very rich and slightly sweet , but not overly sweet —it’s very refreshing. The matcha is… I really enjoyed the refreshing yet flavorful matcha tea. Their Fukuji Cha Natti was a richer version, and it was quite nice to have a hot Fukuji Cha Natti on this slightly cool day. I absolutely loved this shop; it had a wonderful Japanese atmosphere. We sat in the tatami area , with the light streaming in from the corners— it was so comfortable , especially with the soothing music . The entire shop was beautifully decorated, with paintings on the ceiling . The food was also very natural and delicious. I highly recommend coming here for afternoon tea. If it weren’t for this rain, we wouldn’t have discovered this wonderful shop . How do you get to Meguri? Coffee is a 3-minute downhill walk from Shinbashi Bridge. Continuing our walk towards the station, we passed a grilled dango stall . Their dango balls were huge, so we decided to buy some to try. They had two flavors and three sauces ; I ordered the soy sauce flavor. The soy sauce was quite strong! I thought it was really good – a sweet and salty taste , quite different from other grilled dango I’d had before. And they were huge! If you happen to be passing by, you should buy a skewer to try. 450 yen. How to get to Sanpuku Chaya? Meguri After enjoying your coffee, a seven-minute downhill walk will take you to Nikko’s famous fried mantou ( fried buns) – essentially fried mantou with a bean curd skin. It’s filled with red bean paste and sprinkled with a little salt. The outer layer is fried to a crispy perfection, while the red bean filling is smooth and creamy. I think the touch of salt adds a nice layer of flavor. It ‘s right outside the station, so if you’re in Nikko, remember to try these fried mantou! They ‘re delicious , and there’s free cold barley tea available at the entrance. How to get to Nikko Fried Mantou Main Store? Exit from Tobu Nikko Station, turn right onto the shopping street, and you’ll find the cable car. It only takes three minutes to reach the observation deck over 1000 meters high, offering panoramic views of Nikko. The Akechi-daira Cable Car ticket is 1000 yen for adults, but since we have a Nikko Free Pass , we got a discounted ticket of 900 yen per adult. You can see beautiful autumn, winter , and spring views here – every season is lovely! Seeing such beautiful mountain scenery, we’re now taking the Akechidaira Ropeway. I’ve already taken the ropeway up to the 1373-meter-high observation deck. From here, you can see Kegon Falls, one of Japan’s three most famous waterfalls , as well as Mount Nantai and Lake Chuzenji. The entire mountain view is truly stunning. We’re a little early now , so the autumn leaves aren’t fully in bloom yet; only a few are showing their reddish hues. Otherwise, the entire landscape would be even more breathtaking. On the other side, you can see the ropeway station below. So, if you’re visiting Nikko Toshogu Shrine and want to see mountain, lake , and waterfall views, I highly recommend the Akechidaira Ropeway. You can take the observation deck and enjoy a panoramic view of the beautiful scenery. Unfortunately, it’s drizzling a bit today, so the visibility is a little poor. We’d better hurry and catch the ropeway back. If we had stayed another month, we could have seen the entire autumn landscape in full red, including Kegon Falls, Lake Chuzenji , and Mount Nantai ! OMG! How to get to the Akechidaira Ropeway? Take bus line C from bus stop 2C at Tobu Nikko Station and get off at Akechidaira Station. (This bus ride is free with a 4-day Nikko Free Pass). The Akechidaira Ropeway passes Kegon Falls on its way back to Tobu Nikko Station. We originally planned to go there, but it rained heavily that day, so we didn’t go. After getting off at Chuzenji Onsen Station, walk over here. There’s a red sign that says Tobu Nikko Station, so we queued here. Bus 26B is for the Tobu Nikko Station direction. We’re back now at 3:45 PM because we still have some time before the 4:20 PM limited express train , so we came back to buy fried tangpo manju (steamed buns) with red bean filling. They were so smooth and delicious! Everyone should definitely try them; they’re amazing! We ate four of them today. The unsweetened barley tea was also delicious. Nikko was a very comfortable place overall. It’s less than two hours from Tokyo , but there were far fewer people. It’s very peaceful and quiet, and at the same time, it has many historical sites and World Heritage sites. It reminded me a bit of Yufuin in Fukuoka , but even less crowded. So, if you’re in Tokyo and want to enjoy the leisurely atmosphere of the suburbs without the crowds, you can visit Nikko in Tochigi Prefecture. It’s 6:30 pm now, and we’re back in Tokyo. Yesterday, the PARCO in Shibuya was a bit too humid, and I didn’t feel comfortable shopping there, so we decided to visit the PARCO in Ueno. It seems like this side is more inclusive of different brands. When in Japan, you have to visit Onitsuka! Let’s browse Tiger! This Onitsuka Tiger store is quite big, let’s see what good stuff they have. The kids’ shoes are so cute! After looking around, I think this pair of shoes is the coolest and quite comfortable. This pair costs 27,000 yen in Japan, about 5,600 NT dollars, which is more than 2,000 yuan cheaper than Momo . Buying Tiger in Japan is really a good deal! It’s 8:30 pm now, and there are already more than a dozen people in line for dinner. Today we ordered a 140g filet mignon for 2,200 yuan and a curry pork chop for 1,980 yuan. This is the Sanyuan pork curry pork chop. The pork chop is actually quite plentiful and looks delicious! Wow, even though the filet mignon is a small portion, there’s still a lot . And they said the cabbage and rice can be refilled once for free. Come and try it! Wow~~ It smells so good! Come and try the filet mignon! So tender, right? So tender! Mmm, so delicious! The batter is super crispy too . Yes , even though it’s thick, it’s still very soft and tender. There’s also a lot of meat in the curry sauce. This restaurant has received Michelin recommendations multiple times. I’ve never had such a thick pork cutlet with such a delicate texture. Usually, fried pork cutlets are quite thick , but this one is really very soft and tender, like eating a thin pork cutlet. The other curry pork cutlet has a little bit of oil, and the lean meat isn’t as tender as the filet mignon . Overall, I would recommend the filet mignon. The filet mignon is really delicious . Do you think it’s necessary to queue for so long? We queued for half an hour , then went in to get it fried, and waited another half hour. We queued for an hour, which felt a bit long. If it took any longer, I wouldn’t have queued. How do I get to the fried pork cutlet restaurant? Hasegawa: Take the JR train to Ryogoku Station, East Exit, and it’s a two-minute walk. Good morning everyone! Today is our third day in Tokyo. Last night, we didn’t get back to the hotel until almost 11 pm, and it was already 1:30 am when we went to sleep. We got up at 7 am today, just like before. We rarely take such demanding trips, but we had no choice. Today we’re visiting a very famous art museum, TeamLab Toyosu , so we had to arrive very early. We signed up for the second session this morning, at 8:30 AM , so we got up at 7:00 AM. This museum is amazing; in 2023-2024, it surpassed 2.5 million visitors in one year , breaking the Guinness World Record to become the most visited single-group art museum in the world . Let’s go in and take a look! We must buy tickets in advance on KKDAY or KLOOK , and there’s a daily limit, not just buy and go. It’s very popular and has a limited number of people , so remember to buy in advance. After entering, we need to take off our shoes and walk through this area to enter the water zone. We’re not just here to see the exhibition , but to truly step into it and become part of it— super cool! Now we’re lying on the floor looking at the flowers on the ceiling —so beautiful! We just took off our shoes in the water zone . Now we’re heading to the forest. The forest area and the garden area! Wow, the garden area has so many real orchids! They’re native to this space and nurtured here. He said this egg can be pushed; it’s all planted in the soil, and there’s even a bit of mist. Because these eggs are in the outdoor exhibit area , it’s a bit hot. Now we’re going to enter the sports forest. You can scan this QR code because there are some things you can interact with using an app. I’ve already downloaded it; I can catch animals ! Animals, I’m at a waterfall area now! I’m going to catch Pokémon ! Didn’t I catch one? Wow, what’s this? It’s so unique! It looks like a hybrid of a rhinoceros and a camel, extinct 39,000 years ago. The sports forest has many facilities to play on , all very interactive. The outdoor area is the dining area, next to the queue. We’ve finished now, it’s 10:45. It took longer than I expected, about two hours. It’s much better than I imagined! Wow, it’s really super interactive. We really walked into an art exhibition. The water area at the beginning was super amazing , and it’s my favorite area. The first time I was barefoot , walking on the water in that art exhibition hall was so cool! The whole park doesn’t have a fixed route, so you have to explore on your own. I think it’s amazing. How to get to TeamLab Planets? Take the subway to Shin-Toyosu Station, Exit 1A, and walk along the perimeter of the park. Now we’re going to eat at TeamLab. Near Planets, there’s a monjayaki place called Tsukishima Monjayaki Headquarters. It has two seats with a hot, sizzling teppanyaki grill right in front of you . After the oil is cooked, our mentaiko mochi monjayaki is served! First comes the mochi, and then the generous amount of mentaiko! Wow, since I’ve never had monjayaki before, I’m not sure what makes it different from other monjayaki , but I think the way it’s prepared right in front of you is a visual treat, like watching a performance – quite fun! I understand this monjayaki; it needs to sit a little longer . The crispy rice crust at the bottom is amazing! After eating at Tsukishima Monjayaki, I think the mentaiko mochi monjayaki has a moderate mentaiko flavor, not particularly strong. The mochi is the best part ; it has a chewy texture. Overall , the monjayaki tastes a bit like oyster omelet , but not as crispy – it’s very thin. This monjayaki place has that vibe of Japanese office workers gathering after work , so the atmosphere is quite cheerful. However, if you don’t like it too noisy, it might be a little noisy. The distance between the tables is… It’s quite close , so you can hear what the neighbors are saying. I think for those of us who haven’t tried monjayaki before, it’s worth a try. But honestly, I think the flavor is on the heavier side. I personally thought it was okay. If there’s a 30-minute wait, I’d say it’s a no-brainer. How to get to Tsukishima Monjayaki? Take the subway to Tsukishima Station, Exit 10, and it’s a 4-minute walk. Now, after finishing Tsukishima Monjayaki, we’re off to the next stop. The most dreadful part of this trip to Tokyo was shopping with my girlfriend. We were going to Ginza first. Halfway through our shopping trip, we passed a daifuku shop next to Ginza subway Exit A1. Ashley said it was a famous daifuku shop, so we bought some to try. We had just finished grape daifuku, and we both thought it was delicious. Although it wasn’t cheap, costing about 100 NTD , the grapes inside were huge , about this size , and very sweet. The purple one was the best – a seasonal muscat grape. It wasn’t that sweet , but it was still pretty good . The daifuku skin is thin, so it’s refreshing and not too heavy . You can taste the sweetness of the whole fruit. It’s delicious! Anyone passing by should check it out! How to get to this Ginza Daifuku store? Take the subway to Ginza Station, Exit A1. Tired from shopping? Now we’re at HARBS LUMINE. HARBS is famous for its fruit crepes . It’s located in the LUMINE department store in Yurakucho. Today I ordered the lunch set, which included a large plate of pasta, salad, half a cake , and a drink. Ashley ordered their most famous fruit crepe and hot tea. Let’s try the salad from the lunch set first. The salad is actually quite large, and it’s not bad at all. Chicken, mushroom, tomato, cream, pasta— the pasta is a bit ordinary , but the portion is quite generous. Okay, let’s try their fruit cake. There are many kinds of fruit, including kiwi, cantaloupe , and banana. Wow, so much fruit! Taking a big bite, I think it’s pretty good. You can taste the sweetness of the fruit , and the whipped cream is quite delicate. However, because it’s not a sponge cake but a crepe, it doesn’t taste like… The typical delicate cakes are quite refined; you can actually taste the crust, so the texture is a bit different from what I expected. I think if you like fruit, you’ll probably enjoy this one. But Ashley doesn’t like fruit, so she’ll find the cake ordinary. I personally love fruit and thought it was pretty good. The lunch set includes a large plate of pasta , a salad, a slice of cake , and a drink for 2400 yen , which is quite a good deal . Another option is a slice of their signature mille-crepe cake and a fruit tea, which comes to 2000 yen. So if you’re very hungry and want the lunch set, it’s a good deal. However, the lunch set isn’t as elaborate as other places , so if you’re not very hungry, afternoon tea is a better option . How to get to HARBS? LUMINE Yurakucho store is easily accessible by subway to Ginza Station or JR Yurakucho. After a whole afternoon of shopping in Ginza, my legs are incredibly tired and sore. Now it’s time for dinner! We’re going to try Umeoka Sushi Midori Main Store , a high-quality yet affordable sushi restaurant. Wait, I’m going to eat this Ginza-exclusive festival sushi ! It has so many sushi dishes , and they’re all relatively high-priced, yet only 3500 yen each. What we ordered today cost 6875 yen. They have a Chinese menu, offering both à la carte and set meals, so there’s a wide selection . I ordered this festival dish… Oh my! God , this looks amazing! Scallops, salmon roe, sweet shrimp, sea urchin, tamagoyaki, tuna —the crab roe salad is so fresh, and you can taste tons of crab meat inside! It looks so delicious ! The seafood chawanmushi is incredible! It has salmon roe and sea urchin inside — bigger than Ashley’s hand ! Look at this proportion , it’s not right! I was stunned after eating it. It’s incredibly delicious! The best meal I’ve ever had! I want to come back again! If I have time in the next two days, I want to eat it again! It’s so delicious! The tuna is amazing! It seems like they gave me three kinds of tuna. After eating one, it was so delicious that I immediately devoured the second and third. I didn’t even get a picture of them! It’s so good! I usually love salmon, but the tuna here is even better than salmon— it melts in your mouth with a touch of sweetness! OMG, I love it! If you’re ever in Ginza, Tokyo , don’t miss this amazing sushi restaurant ! How do you get to Umeoka Sushi Midori Ginza Store? Take the subway to Ginza Station and walk for 8 minutes. Good morning everyone ! We are now… On our fourth day in Tokyo, our first stop this morning was Meiji Shrine. We’re exiting Harajuku Station, and the entrance tortoise gate is right there. One second we’re in the bustling city center, the next we’re walking along the southern approach to the shrine grounds, and the atmosphere instantly becomes quiet. Meiji Shrine is also the site of Hatsumode , the first shrine visit of the new year, when it’s the most popular shrine in Japan. A short walk along the southern approach leads to the sake barrel wall. There are various sake barrels on this side, sake barrels on this side, and Western sake barrels on this side. These are all offerings from sake merchants and worshippers from all over Japan to Emperor Meiji. The reason for the Western sake barrels on this side is that Emperor Meiji strongly promoted Westernization —the Meiji Restoration— so Western sake barrels were naturally offered to him . A little further along the sake barrel wall, you’ll see the largest wooden Myojin tortoise gate in Japan, standing 12 meters tall. The old tortoise gate even used a thousand-year-old tree from Taiwan , but it was damaged by lightning . The current one is made from a tree over 1,500 years old. The Taiwan Cypress is now inside the main hall. It’s so crowded! Even on Monday, so many people ! Wow, it’s so peaceful here! (Walking towards the North Path) How do you get to Meiji Shrine, a forest in the city ? You can take the subway to Meiji-jingumae Station or JR Harajuku Station . After visiting Meiji Shrine, we’re going to have lunch at Tas Yard. Besides being a cafe, it ‘s also a beautiful garden shop. You can see flowers and plants outside. The menu is simple. Today we’re ordering a Today’s Pasta (shrimp flavor), a Tas Yard Curry (small) , and a French curry . The French toast was served, along with salad, curry rice , and our pasta. Wow, the French toast even tasted like steak ! Wow, the French toast was so crispy, and it was covered in this sauce. It’s probably the best French toast I’ve ever had ! The crust was incredibly crispy, topped with caramel sauce, and the inside was very soft. The toast was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside , and then paired with a banana —sweet and savory, perfect! We finished our meal at Tas Yard. At first , I thought the pasta was a bit bland, with a less-than-rich sauce, but it turned out surprisingly delicious as I ate it. I even wanted more after finishing the whole plate! It had various vegetables , making it very satisfying , refreshing, and healthy. The curry rice was also amazing, with a subtle sweetness , and the chicken was quite tender. The best part was their French toast – it was absolutely delicious! If you’re visiting Meiji Shrine, I highly recommend trying Tas Yard. How to get there? Take the subway to Kita-Sando Station, Exit 2, and it’s a 5-minute walk. After dinner, let’s go shopping ! Wow! It’s so extravagant! The entrance is covered in My Melody and Goomin stickers, and there’s a giant Goomin inflatable doll. There’s a gashapon machine here – so cute! My Melody and Goomin are ¥770 each . Oops, it sprayed out and I got a cute penguin ! We’ve already walked back to the station, but someone is still fascinated by this @Cosme… Tokyo seems to have sucked us in; it looks like we won’t be out for at least an hour or two. I bet this is the legendary shopping paradise for girlfriends; guys would avoid it like the plague. We strolled from Takeshita Street to Omotesando, known as the Japanese version of the Champs-Élysées in Paris. There’s so much to see here. You could easily spend an entire afternoon walking from Takeshita Street to Omotesando . There’s also a Harry Potter store, but unfortunately, the line is very long. How do you get to Omotesando and Harajuku for shopping? You can walk the entire street between Omotesando Station and Harajuku Station; you could n’t finish even in a whole day. We spent the entire afternoon in Harajuku and Omotesando, and now it’s time for dinner. We’re going to eat at Butasama , a yakiniku (grilled meat) restaurant. Ashley can’t eat beef, but since it’s Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) , we thought… To fit the occasion, we chose this pork specialty restaurant for some yakiniku (grilled meat). Overall , I thought it was a pretty good yakiniku restaurant, especially the offal, which was really not gamey. The yuzu pepper pork was also quite good. However, the large platter of four kinds of pork was delicious , but not a must-order. So, I recommend it to people who come to Tokyo and want to eat yakiniku but are afraid to eat beef. But if you’re not going to Yoyogi, I don’t think you need to make a special trip there. How to get to Butasama? Take the subway to Yoyogi Station, Exit A1, and it’s a 5-minute walk. Okay, on our fourth and last night in Tokyo, we wanted to go up Tokyo Tower. Before, we only saw Tokyo Tower from the outside, but this time our team… Lab tickets are only an extra 200+ RMB. We bought a package ticket which included a Tokyo Tower ticket. Let’s hurry up and check it out! We have a QR code that we can scan directly. We arrived at 150 meters. It’s Halloween themed now! And because it’s Mid-Autumn Festival, there’s even a Jade Rabbit! Wow~ The view of Tokyo’s night scene is quite beautiful. The view from here is the same. What’s the view like? Besides the night view, there are also some daring rides! How to get to Tokyo Tower? Take the subway to Akabanebashi Station and walk for 7 minutes. On the fifth day, before returning home, we visited the nearby Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi and Tokyo Station . This time, we bought a Brûlée Merize original caramel crème brûlée from Tokyo Station. It was delicious! I thought the pistachio flavor was just average. I really wanted to try a freshly made caramel crème brûlée, but it had to be refrigerated and you had to buy three at a time, so I had to give up. I also bought my usual Press Butter. Sand ‘s Tokyo-limited cheese flavor wasn’t very good; the original flavor was the best. I’ve just finished calculating the total cost of this trip. Our flight + hotel package was the most expensive. The airfare was NT$10,524, the four-night accommodation was NT$6,328, and transportation was NT$3,302. We mainly spent about NT$2,000 on Nikko. The total cost for entrance fees was NT$1,690, and the average cost for food over two days was NT$4,124 per person. So, the total cost for five days and four nights was NT$25,968 , which I think is pretty good. That concludes the video of my five-day, four-night trip to Tokyo. I’ve included all the discounts, ticket purchase links , and hotel information in the information section below. I hope you enjoy it. See you in the next episode! Bye!
