Good evening, I’m Sachi. I had a silly fight with my husband after a long time. I shouldn’t try to control people to suit my own will. It is a waste of time. I know that. But I cannot stop it. I’m angry at my husband for lightly deflecting my irritation. I stormed out of the house. It’s my fault for not being honest. But we decided to spend some time apart to calm down. I haven’t decided on tomorrow’s destination yet. I’ll take my time thinking about it tonight. I’m preparing dinner. I gaze into the rice cooker. I love the sound of rice cooking. I sit up straight like a samurai, waiting for the rice to finish. …I wonder if it will be done soon. Ah, this is a moment of bliss. My cooking for tonight is practically finished. There’s nothing left to do. All that’s left to do is put these on top of the rice. The rice is done! I always measure the water by eye when cooking rice. But I’ve never failed… I think. Instant miso soup bought at the convenience store. Oh, wait… This isn’t tonjiru (pork miso soup). I bought the wrong kind of miso soup. I had no doubt that this was tonjiru… Serve the rice onto plates. I put the boiled shirasu (baby sardines) on the rice. I’m really into shirasu lately. I bought a large amount the other day. The scent of the shirasu reminds me of the sea breeze from the port. Scallions. It would also be delicious with shiso leaves or Japanese ginger. Maybe Korean seaweed or bonito flakes would be good too. Sesame seeds. Egg yolk. Fermented ginger. Stir-fried radish leaves. Sesame oil. Soy sauce. Add the egg whites and pour in hot water. I’ll always take the leftover egg whites home to use later. Shirasu-don (Shirasu Rice Bowl)! Time to eat! Mix it well before eating. It’s a simple bowl—just rice topped with garnishes. Eating freshly cooked white rice in the car is pure bliss. After a silly fight with my husband, I just wanted to get out of the house as quickly as possible. That’s why I couldn’t properly prepare the ingredients. But this is a fantastic dinner. I don’t care what my husband is eating at home. …No, I worry a little. He might be happy to relax without me. I’m sure he’s having fun with our dogs. …Hmph. Where should I go tomorrow? Looks like I won’t need the electric blanket tonight. I hear a soft tapping sound from the ceiling. It seems to be drizzling. I’m going to the restroom before bed. That might be a stair to another world… I enjoy my usual fantasy time. Retro street lamps… Am I time-leaping or something? lol Oh my goodness… It’s my favorite kind of restaurant. I just got a great idea for tomorrow’s destination. Time to sleep now. Good night. Good morning. The weather is great. I slept in my knits last night. Because I left home without packing a change of clothes. Oh, my shoulder is stiff. Time to get ready. Soak into my skin, lotion! Go away, dark spots! Be straight, messy hair! I am a warrior fighting against aging. Lol I’ll get some coffee. I sit on the staircase leading to another world that I saw last night. What a wonderful morning! I meant to buy only coffee, but I ended up buying snacks… Let’s go! I found a good destination close to here. Last night, I remembered a place I’d been meaning to go to for a while. Oh, this road is narrow… Wow, beautiful rural landscape! I park my car for a moment. I make another detour. The destination is getting closer. I’ll have my car blessed at the shrine. Whenever I get a new car, I usually go to a Shinto shrine to have it blessed for safety. Last night, I remembered that. I have been here several times. I am always overwhelmed by this large Torii gate. Check out the difference in size between the car and the gate! This is my first time getting a blessing at this shrine. I was unsure whether it was okay to drive down this road. But after checking online, it was fine. The last time I visited, I walked through here. At that time, I bought local specialties at shops along the road. It’s Kashiwa mochi (Japanese sweets wrapped in oak leaves). I’m parking in the dedicated lot for cars receiving a safety blessing. I also received the blessing inside the prayer hall. They conducted the blessing with great sincerity. Now I can travel with peace of mind. I move my car from here. Next, I’ll go and worship at the main shrine building (Honden). There are so many paper cranes and Ema (wooden prayer plaques) here. They reflect the multitude of people’s wishes. This place is filled with the warm energy of people’s hopes. I feel encouraged, as if countless people are telling me, ‘You’ll be okay.’ May all the hopes gathered here be fulfilled. I truly wished for it with all my heart.
