Since the implementation of the visa-free policy for Chinese group tourists , 85% of them are illegal immigrants. A Chinese national has been arrested for drug smuggling . A Chinese illegal resident was caught with a 27cm weapon in the middle of the night. A Chinese child and a tattooed man were seen defecating in the middle of Jeju Shinhwa. The Jeju Island the media portrays as a lawless zone seems to have become a place of chaos. Is this really what Jeju Island is like today? I visited Jeju, the region with the highest Chinese crime rate in South Korea . I arrived at Jeju Airport. Perhaps because I arrived after 8:40 PM, I haven’t heard much Chinese yet . They’ve decorated everything with Pokémon these days, and they’re so cute. Oh, I guess there’s a new theme park . [Music] Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve been here. Wow, it’s really windy. There’s a jjimjilbang here called Dodu Health Park, where solo travelers like me can enjoy a light day after arriving by plane . So, I’m going to sleep at the jjimjilbang tonight and, starting tomorrow, I’m going to explore all the red bean spots where Chinese tourists flock . For dinner on the first night, I had a simple bowl of ramen at the jjimjilbang. Even a simple bowl of ramen was delicious in a jjimjilbang. Right in front of the jjimjilbang is Jeju Olle Trail Course 17, so I hiked up for about 20 minutes to the peak of Dodubong Peak. It was even better than I expected to see the cold air firsthand . If you look at the people in the kamakke, they’re all Chinese. I think about 80% of them are Chinese, not Korean. Since I’m hungry, I’ll go for breakfast first. This morning, I’m going to have a light breakfast at Jeju Ramen No. 2. This place specializes in ramen, kimbap, and bibimbap. I ordered the hanchi bibim noodles and the black pork kimbap. The hanchi bibim noodles had a spicy and sweet sauce that was impressive. The chewy noodles and the hanche (Korean beef) make a crunchy sound when you chew them together, and the texture is superb. The black pork kimbap was more ordinary than I expected. The Jeju tea ceremony was a huge success. Recently, the visa waiver program for Chinese group tourists has been lifted, and many are coming, but the locals are not happy about it. I don’t think it’s helpful. Their itinerary is completely set, and they try to attract tourists based on their own plans. They don’t really help the locals or small businesses . They just go to restaurants run by Chinese people . As for shopping, they do go shopping, but other than that , there’s not much else. Domestic tourists rarely bump into Chinese tourists. There’s no direct line to Japan. Right now, if you walk from Jeju Ramen No. 2 to Yongdoam, it’s 4.9km. I’m thinking of just taking a leisurely stroll along the coastal road . Oh, the Jeju sea is indeed beautiful. Wow, there are people fishing on the rocks over there. It’s really windy today. This is my first time walking around Jeju Island, and I found out that walking is more attractive than I thought. When I filter, I see something else. There’s something unusual. What’s that round thing? Does anyone know what this is ? Wow, since I’m here in October, I’ve already caught up on when to go there. I guess I don’t need to go out of my way to find this. From the beginning, I start hearing a lot of Chinese. Are all the people in front of me here on a tour group? Are they taking pictures in front of here? I wonder if they’re asking one down here. 20 This street is cleaner than I thought. Who cleans it? It seems like they’re traveling while observing tourist rules better than I thought, but there’s so much Chinese in the background that I can’t tell if I’m in China or Korea . Is this a tourist trap? Is it the most recent gathering place a tourist trap? [Music] 38 I like the scenery, but is it different from Hainan? Hainan is no different. Compared to Hainan, there are many, and only the south is no different. Next to the bus stop, there are groups of Chinese people holding flags and lining up. But the streets are cleaner than I thought. As you can see here, there isn’t a single piece of trash left behind. It seems that most Chinese tourists here are traveling while maintaining some tourist order. Oh, is it because there are a lot of Chinese tourists here? There are Chinese characters written all over the sign. When I traveled to Hainan recently, I saw a lot of Russian tourists. But there are really a lot of people coming to Jeju Island too. It seems that even in war, people travel . Everyone, this is Tapdong Square. Chapiti told me that there have been a lot of Chinese signs around here recently, so I came by. Here, I think Chae G-Pt got it a little wrong. Everyone, I was curious, so I asked the cafe owner, and he said that when a cruise ship comes in front of Tapgol Square, Dongmun Market and this Tapdong River Market are practically paralyzed with Chinese tourists. But today, the cruise ship isn’t here, so it’s so quiet. This place is like Jeju Manhwa, and not many Koreans actually visit, but it seems like a lot of Chinese people are here. A group tour bus is parked here. It’s a bit like touring Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul, so it seems like they’re making a stop here while they’re at it . They’re walking around in hanbok. Everyone, I’m on my way to Jeju Island 2-do I-dong. I’m already seeing a lot of signs like this. It says “Ttajonghwa Jonggeo.” Wow, the name of the clothing store here is “Ah, Haowahaou.” Is it run by a Chinese person? Everyone, this is in front of Jeju City Hall. This is Jeju Island 2-do I-dong. As you can see up ahead, it’s just an ordinary neighborhood in downtown Jeju. Everyone, this is in front of Jeju Dongmun Fish Market. This is also a place Chinese tourists always visit when they come to Jeju. I came here to buy some takeout while I was here . I came early, so there aren’t as many people as I thought . I was just passing by, and this place looks quite crowded. I’m seeing more and more Chinese people around me. It’s not that kind of thing, but I’m going to buy some omaegi rice cakes. Korean pies. They’re also Korean green onions, not frozen. They’re freshly made . They’re delicious. Isn’t it delicious? One of these. One or two of these. Yes. Thank you. Yes. Hello. This is Soksogo in Yeondong, Jeju. Yeondong is the area with the most Chinese tourists in Jeju City these days. There are tons of Chinese signs everywhere . Even the elevator doors have tons of Chinese signs . Wow, it’s crazy. Quality first. This is rockfish, flounder, mackerel, and red sea bream. Next, these are mantis shrimp. Mantis shrimp is in season right now. Since I’m curious about mantis shrimp, I’ll try some first . This costs 15,000 won. This is 20,000 won for a small portion, but the portion is surprisingly large. Wow, the meat is tender. Mmm, wow, this is really chewy. Next, the mackerel sashimi that I recently ate in Japan and fell in love with. I wonder if the mackerel sashimi from Jeju Island is also delicious. [Music] Mmm. Wow, it’s delicious. First of all, it passes because there’s not even a hint of a fishy smell. It’s chewy like a pillow and it’s the pinnacle of blandness . If I’m eating this alone, it’s a real feast. Everyone, it’s past 8 PM right now, and I’m in front of Noemaru Street, the busiest street in Yeondong. The atmosphere is completely different at night. There were a lot of Chinese tourists, but there were fewer Chinese signs than I expected. I decided to wander around for about two or two hours and come back out at dawn. I wandered around between 9 PM and 11 PM. There wasn’t anything particularly special then, so I’m going to take a few quick photos to see what Yeondong Street looks like in the early morning . I’m going to walk to Jeju Airport, which is about 3km away. It’s really quiet at night. Right in front of me is the busiest street in Yeondong that I explored earlier, and it’s also very quiet now that it’s nearing midnight. When I was walking around earlier, I didn’t see any trash or anything unusual, but I’m curious to see what it’s like now. It feels a bit eerie at this hour, especially since I’m sharing a car. This is what Nuemaru Street looks like at dawn, and it’s brighter than I expected. When I was traveling around Seokgipo before, there weren’t any streetlights at night. Is it because this is downtown Daeju? I came to Nuemaru Street in the evening. This is a place Chinese tourists always stop by when they come this way. But as you can see , there’s absolutely no trash on this street, though I don’t know who cleans it. And when I wandered around for two or three hours earlier in the evening, I didn’t see any trash or anything like that. The street is much cleaner than I expected. You can see Chinese signs here and there, but there aren’t as many as I thought. In fact, I think there are fewer Chinese signs than around Daerim Garibong in Seoul. Just as I was walking around Nuemaru Street, I saw a lot of Koreans out drinking late into the night. Contrary to rumors, Yeondong is actually less harassed than I expected, even in the early morning. It’s quite different from the image I saw on the news, and I’m a little skeptical. Okay, I ‘ll walk about three kilometers to Jeju Airport. Can I ask you something? Why does Maru Street look so clean ? Who cleans it? Don’t the Chinese people litter a lot? They litter a lot. They litter too much. It’s cold, so it must be clean. Yes. Yes. Yes. They litter. You’ve worked hard. Yes. [Applause] Everyone, we’ve briefly toured the city of Jeokje for two nights and three days, focusing on the routes frequented by Chinese tourists . I expected the areas with high concentrations of Chinese tourists and sports teams to feel like the movie “Crime City,” as seen on the news. However, upon returning, it wasn’t quite that bad. However, as recently reported in the news, crimes in Cambodia and various Jeju Island incidents are indeed committed by Chinese people. Therefore, you should always be careful when traveling. However, it wasn’t quite the “Crime City” experience I had in mind. Thank you for watching the video. I’ll see you again next time for an even more exciting overseas travel festival. Thank you.

First of all, this video reveals that there is no intention of unilaterally criticizing a specific country, individual, or organization.

From the point of view of a traveler who simply likes to travel, not a journalist, I planned a Jeju travel content because I was wondering if Jeju Island is still an attractive destination after recently allowing Chinese group tourists to enter Korea visa-free.

In this video, I show you the appearance of Jeju Island that I saw in person for 2 nights and 3 days I visited. Of course, the period I filmed was only 2 nights and 3 days, so please be aware that this video cannot reflect 100% of the current tourism status of Jeju Island.

I hope many people who are thinking about traveling to Jeju in the future will refer to it.

    (Summary of contents)
    • Actual Ratio and Field Mood of Non-Visa Group Tourism Chinese People
    • 'Image in the news' vs 'reality' felt at local restaurants, streets, and tourist attractions
    • Interviews with Do residents and inspection of basic order conditions, such as garbage and security, etc
    • Intensive tour of Chinese group tour courses such as Yeondong and Tapdong Plaza in Jeju-si
All of the above contents are included.
