ミニベロで細切れ日本一周の旅 宮島から秋吉台

Continuing my fragmented journey around Japan, this time I also went to Akiyoshidai in Yamaguchi Prefecture ! I packed my bike on the Shinkansen at Miyajimaguchi Station and arrived around noon. My bike is a Caracle-S. The time frame is October 2025. This time, I’m heading west again. To the left is the Seto Inland Sea After crossing the Oze River, I entered Yamaguchi Prefecture! Crossing the prefectural border is exciting! Today’s sightseeing spot: Kintaikyo Bridge. A wooden bridge built in 1673. The current bridge is the third generation, rebuilt in 1953. It started raining! Despite the triple whammy of night, rain, and hills , I somehow managed to arrive safely at the hotel, a container-style hotel called HOTEL R9 The Yard Iwakuni Kuga Interchange. It was narrow, but no problem, and quite comfortable. Mileage: 37.4km, Travel Time: 2:44pm. Day 2: I’m glad the rain stopped! Pleasant cycling under the autumn sky, with occasional mountain passes. Well, the slopes weren’t that bad. Shuyo City town. Oh , there’s a Bikkuri Donkey. This is delicious, isn’t it? I didn’t do any sightseeing that day, I just rode. I entered Hofu City. Today’s hotel came into view. HOTEL AZ Yamaguchi Hofu branch. Distance traveled: 69.1km. Elevation gain: 412m. Travel time: 6:51am. Morning of day 3: Breakfast buffet included. Nice weather again today. On this day , I head to Akiyoshidai , the highlight of this trip ! I came here on my motorbike as a student, and it’s been 37 years since I last did so. There is a cycling road up to Akiyoshidai. I entered the cycling road. It is separated from cars so there are some places that are not well maintained for safety, but it is a cycling road with beautiful scenery Atsuto River the end of the cycling road I will take a look at Akiyoshido one of the largest limestone caves in Japan, located 100m to 200m underground in Akiyoshidai. Inside Hyakumaizara Mt.Fuji in the cave The Golden Pillar Kappa soba The line I passed through is displayed in blue, but it is amazing that you can also see the location information inside the cave. The slope is so steep that I pushed my bike along and arrived at the observation deck . Akiyoshidai is the largest karst plateau in Japan, a limestone plateau that was formed when a coral reef rose up, and the terrain was created by erosion by rainwater and other factors. The karst road is amazing! Apparently this scenery is protected by burning the mountain every year. I turned back where the grassland ended. After a bit of trekking and enjoying Akiyoshidai, I booked a private room at TRIP BASE COCONEEL , my accommodation for the night . Distance traveled: 62km, elevation gain: 917m, travel time: 6:10pm. I enjoyed chatting and drinking with a Swiss guest staying at the hotel. This journey continues. Thank you for watching!
