AFGHAN WOMEN Reached Out To Us Across The Border ๐ฆ๐ซ๐น๐ฏ I S3, EP23
they are shouting they’re asking us where we are from hello i love you too good morning everyone welcome to our season 3 silk road overland i am somewhere in a small unknown village in between Murghab and Khorog on the Pamir highway and first of all i just want to show you how beautiful the place is it’s a small village surrounded by the mighty mountains and this is a house that we stayed yesterday and it was purely a coincidence that we end up here so yesterday when we reached this place it was quite late we found that on Google map this place it is marked as a hotel but when Daniel and Flo knocked the door and the host opened the door they told us it’s actually not a hostel and there is no available hostel in a nearby region so eventually this family very kindly let us stay in their room we stayed in their living room it was a big bed with lots of blanket it was very warm they brought us the food they also brought us the breakfast this morning the structure of their room is very simple that’s a main bedroom where they cook and also eat and sleep this is the living room where they treat guests so you see all the blankets are there and here i think there is another living room where they can sit together and enjoy food and the whole room is covered with carpet and now Daniel and Flo are packing and we are about to hit the road again Thank you thank you Thank you Good Bye Bye bye hello We just wanted to say goodbye We are going to Khorog today yes May i ask In this village are most people Kyrgyz? or Pamiris? Here are mostly Pamiris in Murghab it’s Kyrgyz So what language do you speak? is it Tajik? no it’s Pamiri That means there are only pamiris here no there are no others also no Tajiks? There are a few Tajiks a little bit Tajik How it it in Khorog? mostly Pamiris ok so in this area it’s mostly Pamiris yes ok very nice meeting you bye bye thanks bye bye today it’s going to be a short ride about 70 kilometers to khorog and then we will say goodbye to Daniel because he’s faster and he has time pressure most travelers come to the pamir highway in summer October brings a sharp drop in temperature snow blankets the mountain pass the road turns rough and visitors become few the landscape becomes even more striking golden forests glow in the gorges and the river shines with gemstone blue this is definitely the most scenic ride i’ve ever had the mountains are so majestic you probably don’t feel it in the camera but what i’m riding at the foot of the mountains is a thousand times higher than i am before we continue the journey a quick thanks to our today’s sponsor Ubigi an E-Sim that keeps me connected while traveling whenever I enter a new place I used to hunt for wifi at the airport look for a local sim card store or worry about the surprise data roaming fees but Ubigi has changed that for me it’s an app that you can download on your phone it has a clear priced data plan in over 200 destinations and once installed your plan only activates when you arrive so you can prepare ahead and get online instantly when you reach even bettery you can recharge data with zero internet left which has saved me more than once while uploading YouTube videos in the middle of nowhere to check if your phone supports E-Sims you can dial *#06# and if you see a EID number you are good to go and to download Ubigi you can click the link in the description box and with our coupon code BAOBAO you can get a 10% off on your first purchase and finally thanks Ubigi for sponsoring this amazing journey this must be a small town i see lots of big trucks with Chinese characters on it but they are all Tajikistan plates i don’t think they are Chinese drivers go? passport? passport I am from China yes Do you understand Russian? No You are German? Yes ye Florian oh yeah Italian he likes your bike Suzuki KTM Honda Honda Thank you i think everything is fine they just check our passport and the permit and now we’re ready to go i leave early okay all day we moved through valleys drenched in gold the lower we descended the greener the trees became after the final tunnel Khorog appeared it is the capital of Badakhshan home to the university of central Asia the city is small yet wonderfully charming the border with Afghanistan lies just beside it here Daniel continued his journey while we turned south towards Afghanistan okay okay goodbye see you bye bye bye bye we just said goodbye to our friend Daniel he will continue riding towards Dushanbe he rides much faster and now we need to find a hotel in Khorog to drop all our luggage and take a shower i feel so dirty right now i haven’t cleaned my hair for 2 days how much is the room yeah double room with separate bed yeah yeah and we have a standard twin room this price is 50 dollars for two person but this room with shared bathroom and also we have the new double room this price is 80 dollars with private bathroom balcony and air conditioning please it’s near to the bathroom okay balcony view to Afghanistan wow i love that i need your passport okay one and two i’m taking a photo we’re going to have a room with a view a balcony view to Afghanistan insane so this is our room let’s check out the room over there that mountain that’s Afghanistan and there is a river going through separating the two countries and this morning we just got packed very lightly because today i won’t be driving and we will share one bike together and today we’re heading towards Wakhan corridor which is extremely beautiful part of tajikistan and everyone is telling me so yeah we have heard it’s the most beautiful part of this route and Wakhan Corridor actually lies between four countries so the main part is in Afghanistan but there’s a little stretch in China in Pakistan and in Tajikistan and we will be driving just along the Panj river which builds the border to Afghanistan and can look into Afghanistan actually so i’m quite excited to do that yes bye bye bye bye it’s not that easy to squeeze two people and all the luggage into one bike and before going we are driving to the city of Khorog so this part is called Gorno Badakhshan it’s a province in Tajikistan but on the other side of the river it’s the Badakhshan region in Afghanistan and during the time of the Silk Road this whole region of Badakhshan belongs to the same group it was only separated in the 19th century and by then the two power Russian has influence in this region in Gorno Badakhshan in Tajikistan whereas the other side is the British accepted Afghanistan’s control over Badakhshan and as written in a book by Marco Polo this region is very famous for precious stones so today’s Badakhshan region in Tajikistan produces a lot of Ruby the red Gemstone whereas the Afghanistan side produces a lot of the lapis the blue gemstone I am from China Hello Hello we get the papers Ishakshim? Yes to Ishkashim nice to meet you good Is the road good to Ishkashim? no no good no good๏ผ no good hahaha okay okay Is it a German bike? We left the small village where Munishaโs family warmly hosted us for the night, about 80 km before reaching Khorog, the capital of Tajikistanโs Badakhshan Oblast. In Khorog, we said goodbye to our friend Daniel as he continued toward Dushanbe, while we turned toward one of the most remote and breathtaking places on Earth โ the Wakhan Corridor, running along the AfghanโTajik border.
Shortly after leaving Khorog, we took a break by the Panj River on the way to Ishkashim. Across the river, a group of Afghan girls and boys were dancing. When they noticed us, they waved, laughed, and tried to communicate with us from the other side. That simple, joyful moment became one of the most touching experiences of our entire journey.
As we continued deeper into the corridor, the military presence increased on the Tajik side, with checkpoints and patrols along the road. By evening, we reached a small town near the Bibi Fatima hot spring, where we stayed for the night.
Join us on this unforgettable ride through the Wakhan Corridor, along the Afghan border, and into one of the most remote and fascinating regions in the world ๐ฌ

A very large canvas, painted beautifully by nature.
I have travelled the world over the last 5 decades, seeing Yan's pictures of silk road, i recall what an old man near where i was born in Afrika said: 'people are RELATIVES'. Truly natural people worldwide are the same. Joyful. Children are angels.
Xinjiang is fascinating
You are beautiful girl I love Chinese girls
Recent border clashes include a deadly attack on a Tajik-Afghan border outpost where three Chinese citizens were killed. Baobao take care!
