【紅葉絶景】ふふ旧軽井沢 静養の森で過ごす“秋の癒し旅”|温泉・鉄板焼き・雲場池の見頃

Heading to Karuizawa, Nagano to see the autumn leaves. Today’s stay: FUFU Kyukaruizawa – Restful Forest. It’s a one-night, two-day trip. A true hotel in the forest! They served birch tea at check-in. Starting with a walk in the courtyard. This is “KUMOBA TERRACE.” Free drinks—juice and alcohol. They even had local wine, Musee du Vin. The terrace surrounded by fall colors is so stylish. I’m excited already! It’s getting chilly, so heading back to the lounge. Snacks and more free drinks here too. Relaxing with wine and some nibbles. Here’s my room… Staying in the “Stylish Suite.” It’s the most compact room here, but… It felt spacious and very comfortable. All rooms at FUFU come with a private hot spring. Having an onsen in-room is pure bliss. And it has a bath pillow… heaven. Toothbrushes and razors are here. Skincare products had a lovely organic scent. Staff lit the fireplace for me. So stylish… It doesn’t heat the whole room, but… It’s warm when you hold your hands over it. It’s a bioethanol fireplace. Checking out the drink station… Oh, found cookies. Bottles with tags are paid items. Beer, juice, and soda in the fridge are free. I love beer, so I’m having one right away. (lol) This onsen is paradise…! Soba tea after a bath is amazing. Top is a room robe, bottom is pajamas. They also provide a bathrobe and coat. It’s already dark outside. The lit-up garden looks beautiful. A campfire! It’s warmer than I expected up close! This seat has a fire pit. The lounge’s wood stove was lit too. Feeling soothed by the flames… Now heading to the 2nd-floor dining room for dinner. The teppanyaki dinner I was looking forward to. Teppanyaki is all about the sounds, aroma, and skill… I always end up staring without thinking. Kuroge Wagyu sirloin sushi. With uni on top—my favorite! The appetizers were stunning. The seared barracuda was amazing. I tried cooking barracuda at home recently… …but it didn’t go well in a pan. So I asked the chef for tips. (lol) “Salt it, wipe off the moisture, and remove any smell.” “And don’t touch it while it’s cooking,” he said. I’ll try that next time. Butternut squash & Jerusalem artichoke soup. The abalone looks so good… And so does the grilled kué fish. Olive oil powdered into “oil powder.” The plating looks like art. The abalone was tender and delicious. Pear granita to refresh the palate. The chef recommended filming this in slow motion, so I did. So much impact! Fresh black pepper for fragrance. Kuroge Wagyu filet and sirloin. Finished with garlic rice. Dessert was served in the lounge. Blancmange with Shinshu grape jelly. Lots of fruit—so happy. Dinner was incredible. Since we’re here, I stopped by the bar for one drink. Ordered a Swan Lake cocktail and a berry squash. A calm, relaxing evening. Good night. Good morning. Heading to the same restaurant for breakfast. Breakfast with a courtyard view was wonderful. The pumpkin and leaf salads look great. Under the grated-apple ponzu was roast beef! Even the Shinano Sweet dishware tasted sweet and lovely. A warm hot-pot dish—perfect for morning. It had pork and taro. Curry. Dashimaki egg, spring roll, mentaiko, marinated tuna. Everything was delicious. Dessert: pear and coffee. Relaxing in the room until the 11 a.m. checkout. Oh right, beside the entrance… The newspaper I requested at check-in had arrived. The mildly alkaline hot spring made my skin so smooth. Making coffee before we leave. The wooden coffee dripper stand is adorable. Before I knew it, it was checkout time. Surrounded by nature—autumn leaves, onsen, great food… It was truly a perfect stay. The souvenir corner. I was tempted by the room fragrance, but… Since it’s getting cold, I bought birch tea and herbal tea instead. Thank you for the wonderful time. Stopping by Kumoba Pond before heading home. Visited in early November—it was peak autumn color. A full loop with filming took about 30 minutes. The pond is the perfect size for a stroll. Ducks were swimming—so cute. The tunnel of autumn leaves was beautiful. A bit cloudy, which was a shame, but… The reflection on the water was still lovely. A café near the pond—recommended by the staff. It was crowded today, so I’ll try next time. I left my jacket in the car since I was warm from the onsen… …and ended up freezing halfway. (lol) Heading back, warming up in the car. A trip full of beautiful autumn leaves.
