Hi everyone! I’m Ahan. Last time Albert introduced Little 15 and the secret spring of Yangmingshan. This time it’s my turn to introduce the route of Yangmingshan. After starting from Jiantan MRT Station Passing Yangde Avenue and Chinese Culture University, we arrive at Yangmingshan. This route is Red 5. However, if we only introduce one route, That would be too boring! So today we will also introduce the complete version of Route 108. We will take you on a tour of Yangmingshan. I will get off at Xiaoyoukeng to head to the summit of Qixing Mountain. Then I’ll take a bus from Dream Lake back to Yangmingshan Bus Terminal. This episode is quite exciting. Don’t miss it! Before we begin… Welcome everyone to like, subscribe, and turn on notifications! Ready? Let’s begin! Today we’re going to unpack the routes in Yangmingshan! Many of you might be thinking, “Oh dear…” We’ve introduced so many routes in Yangmingshan! Huh? What else is there to introduce? It’s very simple! Today we’re going to take you up to see the silvergrass blooming season. No more talk~ We’ll start on the Red 5 bus, then transfer to the 108 bus at the Yangmingshan Bus Terminal. Last year, Albert and I introduced the 260 bus route. And the 108 Yangmingshan Scenic Bus route. Besides the 260, other buses on Yangde Boulevard… There’s also another main line, Red 5. Actually, Red 5’s route is similar to 260. When the Tamsui MRT line opened in 1997 Various bus lines were established in various districts of Taipei City. To facilitate transfers to MRT stations. At that time, most of these routes were mainly along the main line’s corridor. Then branching off to MRT stations. Subsidiary to the main line. Adding the letter “M”. To distinguish it from the main line. So initially this line was called 260M. Until October 18, 1999 The Taipei City Transportation Bureau officially established the MRT shuttle bus service. 260M’s license plate number was changed to Red 5. It was officially given its own independent license plate number to assist 260 in carrying passengers. Although the route is similar to 260. But don’t underestimate this route. I’m sure you all saw this just now. Holiday Red 5 is packed with people. You have to queue for the shuttle bus up the mountain! After leaving the core area of Shilin We’re about to enter the mountainous section of Yangde Avenue The Zhilan New Village area was originally established in the 1950s The settlements here were originally the families of military personnel who came to Taiwan with the Nationalist government Over the past three or four decades, it has transformed from an obscure mountain area into a luxury mountain residential district Many well-known Taiwanese businessmen Including the Wu family of Shin Kong Group, Huang Mao-hsiung of the Teco Group, and others, have bought houses here. The most famous historical building on Yangde Avenue is the former residence of Lin Yutang. Who is Lin Yutang? He was a famous writer. He devoted himself wholeheartedly to the study of classical Chinese literature. And promoted the study and dissemination of modern vernacular Chinese. He left behind a vast number of works in Chinese and English, covering a wide range of topics. The cold winter season of January 1966. President Chiang Kai-shek met with Lin Yutang and his wife in southern Taiwan. Lin Yutang expressed: Life in Hong Kong was very good at the time. However, Hong Kong was a colony. Therefore, he hoped to settle in Taiwan. Therefore, Chiang Kai-shek decided to gift a mansion for Lin Yutang’s family to live in. This residence covers an area of 101 ping (approximately 33.3 square meters). Designed by Lin Yutang and Wang Da-hong. When Lin Yutang passed away in 1976, His remains were buried in the back garden of this residence, which was later used as a library. It wasn’t until November 8, 1999, that it was converted into Lin Yutang’s former residence. However, from June 1, 2024 a renovation and reuse project will be carried out It is currently not open to tourists It is expected to reopen in two years There is a place called “Hwagang” in the area around Chinese Culture University It originates from Chang Chi-yun, the founder of Chinese Culture University. It takes its meaning from “Beautiful China, Phoenix Singing on the High Hill”. It takes the two characters “Huagang” as the place name. Chinese Culture University was founded in 1962. Chang Chi-yun once mentioned Professor Lu Yu-jun’s planning of the campus construction. Hoping to build this school in the style of Chinese architecture Such an architectural style is rarely seen on campuses in Taiwan One of the characteristics of Chinese Culture University

After passing Chinese Culture University Next, we will arrive at the Teachers’ Center on Yangmingshan Actually, during the Japanese era This is the Caoshan Public Bathhouse Established in 1929 The most distinctive feature of this public bathhouse is its octagonal bathing pools Entering the Nationalist Government era The public bathhouse was abolished Served as the office building of the Yangmingshan Administration Later renamed the Taipei Teachers’ Training Center The building was constructed using locally sourced materials. Famous craftsmen from Tamsui were specially hired for the construction. Due to the influence of Western architecture in the arrangement of the building stones, It was called “Fanzi Di” (foreigner’s stone). This was the first architectural style seen in Taiwan at the time. We are now about to arrive at Yangmingshan Bus Terminal. Prepare to get off. We need to transfer to the 108 bus here to Xiaoyoukeng. Okay, everyone. We’re taking the bus to the Yangmingshan Bus Terminal now. We’ll be transferring to the 108 bus to go up the mountain soon. If you want to take the 108 bus from the Yangmingshan Bus Terminal… Remember to queue! The 108 bus has two routes: full-distance and local. If you want to go to Xiaoyoukeng, Dream Lake, Qingtiangang, or Lengshuikeng You must take the full-distance bus to these four places. The shuttle bus only goes as far as Erziping. Also, during the flower season on Yangmingshan To disperse the large crowds Additional bus routes 124 will be added for the flower season to facilitate public transportation. 108 was featured in a video last year. We’ve already given a detailed introduction. This time, we’ll simply take you to see the scenery along the route to Xiaoyoukeng. Erziping in Yangmingshan is actually located in Sanzhi District, New Taipei City. The Balaka (Bailaka) Highway 101A outside leads to Sanzhi and Beixinzhuang. However, there are no buses from here to Sanzhi, which is a real shame. Erziping is also a popular destination for hiking and trekking. There are several hiking trails for visitors to choose from. The Erziping Trail is approximately 1.8 kilometers long. This route is relatively gentle. It’s the only outdoor barrier-free trail in Taiwan. If you’re just looking for a simple hike, You can try it here! Strolling through the greenery is quite pleasant. If you want to review the Yangmingshan Erziping itinerary Welcome to view the video information card at the top right (260) Provincial Highway 101A This is the road connecting Provincial Highway 101 and Provincial Highway 2A Commonly known as the Balaka Highway (or Baraka Highway) This road was originally a military road built by the Nationalist Army’s engineering corps in 1952 over a period of six months. This road connects Yangmingshan to Beixinzhuang in Sanzhi. We are getting closer to Xiaoyoukeng. Actually, there is another route from Taipei Main Station to Xiaoyoukeng. That is Royal Taipei Bus’s 1717.

00:11:11,540 –> 00:11:14,600
Ahan introduced this route two years ago. Now you can use TPASS too! If you want to review 1717’s video itinerary Please click on the video information card in the upper right corner. Last year we only went to Erziping. This time, we’re really going to take everyone to the summit of Qixing Mountain! We’ve arrived at Xiaoyoukeng! The main entrance to Qixing Mountain is right next to the Xiaoyoukeng bus stop. I’ll go up from this entrance shown in the picture. This is also one of the third sections of the Taipei Grand Traverse. But I’m not going to complete the third section of the trail today. My approximate route today is from the Xiaoyoukeng trailhead to the main peak. After passing the East Peak, I’ll continue down to Dream Lake. Xiaoyoukeng is located at an altitude of approximately 815 meters. Along this trail, you can smell a strong sulfurous odor. Because this area is located in a volcanic geological landscape zone Therefore, along the way, you can see fumaroles and sulfur crystals formed by volcanic activity as well as spectacular landslide terrain Actually, if you climb to the middle and look back You can see the entire beautiful scenery of the Xiaoyoukeng Visitor Center But on the day of filming, we happened to encounter this kind of weather. At Yangmingshan Bus Terminal The weather was actually very good.
163
00:12:44,165 –> 00:12:46,475 We arrived at a relatively high altitude. A thick fog suddenly appeared, and it started to rain.
165
00:12:48,647 –> 00:12:51,326 Oh dear! The weather really isn’t cooperating! We can’t even see the scenery! But since we’re already here… Let’s keep climbing! Climbing all the way up… There are quite a few steep slopes in the first half. I suggest everyone climb slowly. However, for those who find climbing difficult, I recommend bringing trekking poles for safety. I finally reached the main peak of Qixing Mountain. Actually, climbing slowly isn’t difficult. It took about 70 minutes. This is the highest peak in Greater Taipei. There were so many people queuing up to take photos at the main peak. Of course, I wouldn’t miss this opportunity! Everyone~~ We made it to the summit! Yay! We’re going down now. After taking photos at the main peak I’ll head in another direction. Preparing to head to the East Peak, which is 1108 meters above sea level. It’s just a short distance to the east of the main peak of Qixing Mountain. It’ll be there in about 10 minutes. After arriving at East Peak I’m going down towards Lengshuikeng. I’ll take everyone to Dream Lake; the latter half of the stone steps is much easier to walk. Dream Lake is located in the southeast of Qixing Mountain. The water depth is only about one meter. It is a closed marsh wetland. Many geese and ducks used to inhabit this area. Therefore, its original name was Duck Pond. Later, because it was shrouded in mist all day long, It felt like a dream or an illusion. So it was renamed Dream Lake Dream Lake is the only natural habitat here In order to protect the environment and ecology When Yangmingshan National Park was established in 1985 The Dream Lake Ecological Reserve was also established In 2007 Dream Lake was further designated as a national-level important wetland After leaving Dream Lake Walk forward to the main road Turn left and you will see the bus stop for route 108 Now I need to take the bus down. Back to Yangmingshan Bus Terminal! As you can see on the screen, if you want to go back to Yangmingshan Bus Terminal this afternoon: Almost every bus is this full! I’m out of seats to stand! Standed for quite a while. After passing the Jingshan Recreation Area and Zhongshan Building, we returned to Yangmingshan Bus Terminal. Today I introduced two routes, Red 5 and 108. And took everyone up to Qixing Mountain and Dream Lake for sightseeing. Did you find this episode exciting? Hope you all enjoyed it! We’re back at the Yangmingshan bus terminal now! That’s all for today’s episode. I’m Ahan, do you like our channel? Please like, subscribe, and turn on notifications! Bye-bye!
