【北海道】秋深まる函館🍁ノスタルジックな街に癒される大人旅Vlog✈️②
Hi, I’m Shie. I recently went on a three-day, two-night trip to Hakodate, Hokkaido. I stayed at OMO5 Hakodate (introduced in the previous video). On the second day, I woke up early and went to the breakfast buffet. The sign was cute. The buffet had a live kitchen inspired by Goryokaku in the center, and a wide selection of seafood. However, if you only take what you like, it ends up looking like this. lol. But I also got some squid rice and seafood. There was a wide variety of black and herbal teas. The breads were very cute. This one in particular. It was delicious! I hope there’s more tomorrow. I had seconds and am full. Thank you for the meal. I took a short rest in my room. Today’s sightseeing begins. First, I head to Hakodate Station. I want to take the bus to Goryokaku. I have a feeling that bus will go to Goryokaku. Everyone in line was on the bus, so we decided to get on too. lol. What’s this? ❤︎. I got off at the bus stop called Goryokaku Tower Mae. The view from where I got off was amazing. Looking up, I saw Goryokaku Tower. The area around this bus stop is so beautiful, I couldn’t resist. I’m so glad I came to this bus stop! (Though it was a coincidence.) The contrast between yellow and orange is beautiful. It’s especially great for ginkgo lovers. I wonder when I’ll go up to Goryokaku Tower. I wandered around the bus stop for a while. Then, I arrived at Goryokaku Tower. I suddenly looked down and saw a manhole cover by the artist GLAY. The observation deck fee is 1,200 yen (adult). When the elevator opened, a star-shaped view unfolded before my eyes. The red, orange, and yellow autumn leaves were beautiful. Looking from above made me want to take a leisurely stroll. I’d like to go for a short walk later. What a wonderful running spot. The round shape is cute. I’d like to cross that bridge. The place I was fascinated by after getting off the bus was beautiful even from above. It continued on into the distance. When I changed my direction, I could see the ocean. Oh, there it was, Rokkatei. From the floor below, we could enjoy Goryokaku at our leisure. There were also places with views down below. After enjoying the tower, we headed back down. We did some shopping at the shop and then headed for lunch. We came for sushi, waiting for it to open. It was right next to Goryokaku Tower. It was the Hakodate Shunka conveyor-belt sushi restaurant. They had a wide selection of delicious sushi on the conveyor belt. My husband started with a Sapporo Classic draft beer (660 yen). We toasted with green tea. We started with fatty tuna (473 yen), herring (385 yen), wild amberjack (385 yen x 2), and seasonal saury (385 yen). We were still eating raw salmon (385 yen ). A generous amount of crab miso soup (385 yen). A beautiful piece of bluefin tuna otoro (770 yen). The miso soup had a rich crab broth. My husband’s next drink was a Goryo (660 yen). (He seemed to like it so much that he bought some as souvenirs on his last day.) We ordered a three-piece seared platter (fatty salmon, flounder, and scallops, 550 yen). Seared menuki (660 yen). Finally, we ordered his favorite, open-mouth shrimp (770 yen). Thank you for the meal. After we were stuffed with delicious sushi, my husband noticed something next to us. There was a temple called Mojoji. My husband has recently started collecting goshuin ( temple stamps). After praying, we received one. It was so cute! Even I, who don’t collect them, was thrilled. Next, we arrived at Goryokaku, which we had seen from above earlier. Since we didn’t have much time, we decided to walk a little. Goryokaku was Japan’s first Western-style star-shaped fortress, and its star shape is said to have been designed to make it easy to defend against attacks from any direction. We crossed the bridge. Apparently it’s also popular as a cherry blossom viewing spot . Beyond the bridge, we saw bright red autumn leaves. The contrast between red, yellow, orange, and green was beautiful. After enjoying the autumn leaves, we headed to our next destination. We walked a little and took the streetcar. There was a line at the famous hamburger shop. I ended up on this street again❤︎. To be honest, I didn’t want to leave. I’ll take a closer look. I’d like to come back in a different season. We walked to the station, following the directions on Google Maps. We came out onto a lovely path used by locals. It was so lovely. The people lined up in front of me must be the station. We boarded at Goryokaku Koenmae Station. We let one train pass and boarded the next. Isn’t streetcars exciting? We do n’t usually get a chance to ride them, so we were looking forward to it . The train we wanted to ride arrived. The platform was narrow, so we were nervous about being so close to the train. We tapped our transportation IC card and got on. It shook quite a bit, which was a thrill. It was a fun experience. We arrived at Suehirocho Station. I’m curious about that cheesecake… Apparently that cute-colored building over there is a company. Hakodate is also famous for its hills. We’re now heading up Motoizaka. The slope is like this. We’ll have tea at the top. We’ll keep climbing. The former British Consulate comes into view. We’ll visit Victorian Rose, a tea room located inside the building. There’s a cake I want to try. The British-inspired interior is a relaxing space. We first ordered at the shop and were then shown to our seats. I ordered the Gateau Fromage Set (1,500 yen). For an additional 100 yen, I upgraded the tea set to Royal Milk Tea. The teapot cover was a delight. It was rich, warm, and soothing. The Gateau Fromage was rich and incredibly smooth. It’s carefully baked without wheat flour, using Hokkaido cream cheese and pure fresh cream. Apparently , this Gateau Fromage is delivered from Maison FUJIYA Hakodate on Nijukkenzaka. I dipped it in the salt that was provided for added flavor. Thank you for the meal. Now, on to our next stop. Just a little more uphill. At the end of the hill was Motomachi Park. Looking back, the slope I’d just climbed looked like this. There’s a place I want to go to further into the park (it’s already visible). Further up, Hakodate Port comes into view. I’ve always wanted to come here. This beautiful yellow and light blue-gray building is the former Hakodate Ward Public Hall. The elegant building has a symmetrical design. The balcony looks like it could be a princess emerging from. Admission is 300 yen. This Meiji-era building blends Japanese and Western styles, and the interior is truly impressive. The furnishings are also captivating. Next up is the great hall on the second floor. This magnificent hall is about 6 meters high and measures 450 square meters. It would be fun to wear stylish attire and take commemorative photos. The view from this balcony is also outstanding. I really love the yellow. This might be the place I most wanted to visit in Hakodate. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now, let’s move on to our next spot. Before we knew it, the lights were on. A light blue building came into view beyond the autumn leaves. This is the former Hokkaido Government Office, Hakodate City Hall. Apparently, there’s a restaurant inside (it was closed for the winter when we visited). We decided to check out some churches. On the way there, we also came across a cute building. There was a crowd of people there, so we went to check it out. It turns out it’s a famous spot. Is this Hachimanzaka? It’s a lovely place. You can see the cute church roof on the left, and the autumn leaves are truly beautiful. Turning around, we saw another church here. It’s Hakodate Christ Orthodox Church. The white walls and light blue roof are beautiful, making it feel like we’re overseas. The interior is enveloped in a solemn atmosphere. The name of the slope intrigued us. We decided to go up a little. This is Hakodate St. John’s Church. Apparently , the building resembles a cross when viewed from above. We headed to the church with the red roof we saw earlier. This is the Catholic Motomachi Church. It’s a rare experience to see so many churches in one place. There was also a temple. Finally, one more stop. This is the Hakodate Church of the United Church of Christ in Japan. After enjoying the church tour, we headed down the hill. Covered in leaves… a store? We headed to the Hakodate City Community Exchange and Urban Development Center. The cool, lit-up building was apparently the former Hakodate branch of Marui Imai Department Store. There was a manual elevator here. I asked the receptionist if I could ride it. It’s said to be the oldest manual elevator in use in Japan north of Tohoku. When I got off the elevator, I was on the floor that used to be the department store. The dome visible from the window is distinctive. It was a valuable experience. Thank you. Next, we headed to the Bay Area. Our next destination came into view: the Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse. We walked down the street, which was beginning to light up. It’s divided into four zones: BAY Hakodate, Kanemori Western Museum, Hakodate History Plaza, and Kanemori Hall. The atmosphere is even more beautiful when it gets dark. There are various shops and restaurants, so we took our time exploring. The glittering sightseeing boat returned. We enjoyed the night view and plenty of shopping. It’s about time to go for dinner. We went to Lucky Pierrot Marina Suehiro. This very popular local hamburger restaurant originated in Hakodate. It was bustling outside, but the inside was just as lively. The restaurant is so spacious, it was hard to decide where to sit. Oh, a pleasure boat. We ordered a Lucky Egg Burger (572 yen), a draft beer set (1,012 yen), medium fries (297 yen), and a hot oolong tea (297 yen), and toasted. It was a medium size, but it was quite filling. It was thick and fluffy, and I couldn’t stop eating it. This is my husband’s Chinese chicken burger, their signature dish. This is my Lucky Egg Burger. It’s a heavy hamburger with a fried egg inside, which is delicious. I couldn’t finish it, so I gave it to my husband. Thank you for the meal. The hotel was a little far away, so we took a taxi. We returned to the hotel shortly. We took a break for a Yogurt-uppe. I took another break with Hokkaido corn tea. I arrived at OMO Base on the second floor of the hotel. There was no one there, so the quiet flowed. The stained-glass lighting created a fantastic atmosphere. I went out onto the terrace. It was very cold, but the bonfire was soothing. I bought some ice cream from a nearby store and returned to my room. The decision was made in an instant. I chose the rum raisin ice cream (450 yen). It was from Fuji Reika , a specialty ice cream shop in Hakodate. It was a sophisticated ice cream with a hint of rum, and I was happy to have it. Good night. Good morning. I went to the hotel for breakfast again today. I brought a lot again today. My husband also brought the delicious beef stew he picked up yesterday. I also picked up some cute pancake sandwiches today. I finished with yogurt and a banana. Thank you for the meal. After a short rest, I’m ready to head out for some sightseeing on my last day. Well, off I go. First, I head to Hakodate Station. I’ve been wondering what this is for a while. We headed over there, where there were a lot of people. Oh, I want to try the yakitori bento next time I come. We arrived at Hakodate Morning Market. It’s about a 1-2 minute walk from Hakodate Station. There are about 250 stores, offering a wide variety of Hakodate ingredients. Just browsing is fun. As I walked around, something caught my eye: I often saw people eating something. I found it at this store, too : melon. This is a Hokkaido melon (400 yen). It’s already cut, so it’s ready to eat. It was so sweet and delicious. I wanted to eat it all by myself, but I couldn’t help but share some with my husband. lol. Finally, we devoured it. Thank you for the meal. Finally, we went shopping. We shopped at a kelp specialty store. I bought this convenient dashi pack. After enjoying the morning market, we went to Hakodate Station and did some shopping at the souvenir shop on the first floor. Then, we returned to the hotel and checked out. The hotel’s free shuttle bus seemed convenient for sightseeing. Thank you. When we arrived at the bus stop for Hakodate Airport, the bus was still a long way off. So, we decided to take a break at Petit Merville Hakodate Ekimae, located right in front of the station. The cute interior had seats on the second floor. We sat in a seat with a view of the bus stop. We ordered an iced coffee (489 yen) and a Mel Cheesecake Set (700 yen). The Mel Cheesecake here was plain. It was fluffy yet very rich and flavorful. It was bite-sized, perfect for a quick bite. Thank you for the meal. We saw people waiting at the bus stop, so we joined them. We thought we had time to go to the restroom, but an unexpected extra bus had arrived, so we hurried off. We arrived safely at Hakodate Airport. It was a fulfilling 2-night, 3-day trip to Hakodate. We hope to visit Hakodate again someday. Thank you for watching. Please like and subscribe.
