【水と踊りの町、郡上八幡】絶景ビュー!長良川鉄道で行く岐阜の旅【A trip to Gujo Hachiman,Gifu】
Hello everyone! I’m in Gifu Prefecture, located almost in the center of Japan. I ‘m taking the sightseeing train “Nagara” from Mino-Ota Station to visit Gujo Hachiman, the town of water and dance, and Mino, the sweltering Mino. I’m excited to see what kind of scenery I’ll encounter! I hope you enjoy it to the end! Let’s ride! I purchased a one-day pass at the ticket counter. I reserved my “Nagara” train ticket in advance , separate from my regular ticket. Now, it’s finally time to depart! The sightseeing train “Nagara 1” bound for Hokuno has just departed Mino-Ota Station on schedule. After making stops at Tomika, Seki, Mino City, and Oya Station, the train will stop at Gujo Hachiman, Gujo Yamato, Mino Shiratori, Hakusan Nagataki, and its final destination, Hokuno. It takes about two hours to get to the final stop, Hokuno Station, but the journey to our destination, Gujo Hachiman Station, is about an hour and a half. Bye ! You can see people canoeing down the river on the right side of the road, about halfway down the river. I was soaking up the beautiful scenery that before I knew it, I’d arrived at Gujo Hachiman Station. Thank you, Nagara! See you! First, I stopped off at the station to fill my stomach and rent a bicycle. I had some shio ramen topped with Gifu Prefecture’s famous “Meiho Ham.” The clear, beautiful soup was light and easy to eat. I arrived at the center of Gujo Hachiman , where the old-fashioned townscape still stands. As I strolled around, the sound of flowing water echoed throughout the town, creating a truly elegant atmosphere. Gujo Hachiman is also known as the “town of dance.” Finally, I arrived at the town’s symbol, Gujo Hachiman Castle. Its impressive stone walls from the Warring States period remain, and there seems to be a great spot for taking photos of the castle! This magnificent castle stands atop a mountain at an altitude of 353 meters. It is said to date back to the end of the Warring States period, but the castle tower was demolished, leaving only the stone walls behind for a long time. I almost tripped on the stairs ! It’s truly impressive! I’m planning to visit the castle and museum with a special set ticket! Does it look like a fish?! This castle tower, rebuilt in 1933, is Japan’s oldest wooden reconstructed castle tower. This is what I mean by majestic! By the way, my fourth favorite photo spot is here. As Japan’s oldest wooden reconstructed castle tower, it really feels its age. There are many valuable exhibits inside the castle, and the creaking sound echoes with every step. Gujo Hachiman Castle has a four-story, five-story structure. I climbed to the top floor! The view from the mountain castle is truly exceptional . Apparently, if you look at the castle from Horikoshi Pass, it looks like a castle in the sky, shrouded in mist! This view is of the castle town! Nearby is a bronze statue of Yamauchi Kazutoyo, famous for his “wifely support,” and his wife, Chiyo. It’s widely believed that Chiyo is the daughter of Endo Morikazu, the castle’s founder. Next, I went to the Gujo Hachiman Expo Center. While the Gujo Dance is held every summer, you can experience it all year round at the Expo Center. It’s performed almost every night in August, and continues for over 30 days until early September. It is performed on festival days for gods and Buddhas, as well as during Obon, a time to welcome and send off ancestors. There are 10 songs and 10 dances, starting with Kocho Kawasaki, Harukoma, Sanbyaku, Gengenbarabara, Yacchiku, Kawasaki, Sawagi, Neko no Ko, Jinku, and Matsusaka. Collectively, these 10 songs are called “Gujo Odori.” First, we’ll introduce the most popular song, “Kawasaki.” They ‘ll also teach you how to dance! Thank you all for joining us. Now you can fully move your upper body. This is a song called “Neko no Ko,” which is especially popular among locals . The cat dance is so cute! I got my Gujo Odori participation certificate ! Here you’ll find “Sougi-sui,” a symbol of the town of water. Sougi-sui is located here. Famous for being the first of Japan’s 100 famous springs, Sougi-sui is called “Mizu-fune” and uses the water for different purposes according to its hierarchical structure, making it an eco-friendly system! Let’s take a break at Sogi-an, located right next to Sogi-sui. This calm, Japanese-style cafe offers a relaxing space. They use rare Gifu Prefecture-grown matcha, which is rich and exquisite. We also enjoyed their summer-only shaved ice, which is delicious! ♪ The path is paved with many round stones. It’s a short path, but it has a great atmosphere. Apparently, there are about 80,000 stones from the nearby river paving the path! There was even a stone with a face! This path is also charming. It’s narrow, just wide enough for one person to pass through. Many giant carp are swimming around. They’re so imposing! Let’s feed them! ♪ A horde of carp rushed in ! We discovered a human-faced fish! Crab Battle Mode. We arrived at a temple with a stunning Japanese garden. The surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful, surrounded by lush greenery. Its appearance changes with the seasons, making it a place you’ll want to visit again and again. It’s such a wonderful space that it’s easy to forget the passage of time! Gujo Hachiman is famous for its food samples, so there are plenty of souvenirs . Delicious-looking sushi! Delicious-looking sushi! (Wind keychain lol) Gifu Prefecture also has many other famous products such as washi paper and swords.Thank you for watching until the end.Did you enjoy our trip to Gujo Hachiman on the Nagaragawa Railway?
