NAGOYA – Kamenoi • Meito Ward • Quiet Morning Suburban JAPAN Walking Tour • 4K HDR
Today we’re taking a peaceful early-morning walking tour around Meito Ward, Aichi Prefecture, Japan. We are joined by a four-legged friend today as we walk around the Kamenoi area. The footage may not be as steady as usual because of this, so thank you for your understanding. Kamenoi is a mostly residential area of Meito Ward near Issha Station, with a mix of newer and older homes. The area, especially around the station, is being redeveloped, with high-rise apartment buildings frequently being constructed. It is a sought-after area because it sits on the Higashiyama Subway Line (the main line in Nagoya) and has good local schools. On the right is “The Living Christ – Ichibaku Church,” one of the largest Protestant churches in Nagoya. It was established in Nagoya in 1941 and holds worship services every Sunday at 10:00 AM. Reliable figures are difficult to find, but the estimated number of Protestants in Japan was around 600,000 (approximately 0.45% of the population) in 2020. Kamenoi Park on the right. This is a small local park for local kids and an important evacuation point in an emergency situation. We have actually just crossed into an area called Takamacho (高間町). We are now passing Obasama Daini Park (大廻間第二公園). It’s still early, so there are no children playing today. Notice how the leaves are starting to change color. Autumn in Nagoya seems to be arriving later in recent years. Just two weeks ago it was around 28°C. The sudden temperature change between summer and fall often leads to colds. This is just a regular suburban area, but did you notice the Porsche Carrera up ahead? On the left is Aeon Meitopia, one of the largest supermarkets in the area. There is also a home center above the store, so it’s a popular shopping spot for locals. Can you see the elevated road in the distance? That is the Mei-Nikan Expressway. It’s a ring expressway that loops around Nagoya, connecting major highways and helping traffic bypass the city center. This access is one reason why Meito Ward is considered a desirable place to live. You can get on the expressway within minutes, with links to nearby cities and farther destinations like Tokyo and Osaka. Well, our dog companion is tired now, so that is all for today. Thank you for watching. Don’t forget to like and subscribe!
