INDIA Through Our Eyes! Experiencing MUMBAI For The First Time šŸ‡®šŸ‡³

Mumbai not what I imagined. No Welcome to Mumbai Hello. Hello. Good morning. Good morning fromĀ
Mumbai. So yesterday we arrived here quite late at night. I think we got to our Airbnb which is thisĀ
cute little house here at the bottom floor with yellow gate. We got here at midnight so we didn’tĀ
really see anything. So you’re going to see the first look of Mumbai with us right now. Yeah, thisĀ
looks actually pretty chill. Last night was a bit sketchy because everything was so dark, but theĀ
place is very cozy and spacious. We have a problem with the air conditioner though, so right nowĀ
they’re coming to fix it. Um, and hopefully that resolves the problem. So when we return, hopefullyĀ
the AC fixed. Mhm. Okay, let’s go explore a little bit. There’s so many cats around here. I justĀ
saw one here and there’s one more here. And then there’s a toilet here. You need to use theĀ
washroom before we leave? No. So, you may beĀ Ā  wondering why we decided to stay in a very localĀ
area and in an Airbnb instead of a hotel. Well, it’s because when we were looking at hotels,Ā
we thought that there wasn’t good value. Like, they weren’t cheap. Like $100 $150 a night and itĀ
looked a bit just like an older hotel room. And the reviews are not as great as the Airbnb wouldĀ
be. Yeah. So, we thought we would do an Airbnb because we always like having more space and alsoĀ
a washer, like to wash our clothes. Um, and yeah, just the reviews were good, so we thought we’dĀ
give it a try. And it was only $60 USD a night, $68 I think. Yeah. So, it’s pretty good. But, weĀ
are actually in a very nice neighborhood. So this area is called Khar West and it’s kind of close toĀ
Bandra as well which is more like the trendy area not too overly crowded but it does take about 20Ā
to 30 minutes for us to make our way down to South Mumbai where a lot of the tourist attractions are.Ā
So it is our first time in India. So today we will try figure things out together. Yeah. figureĀ
things out together. The tuk tuk is so cute, but I don’t think they call it tuk tuk here. TheyĀ
call it rickshaw. Yeah, these ones we should try one. They look like kind of similar to the tukĀ
tuks we have in Thailand, right? Even nicer. Thailand doesn’t have that cover on the side.Ā
Namaste. Namaste. Namaste. All right. Okay. This is like the first major road we have been to quiteĀ
a contrast because where we stay at the village is so quiet. Now it’s a bit more chaotic but not asĀ
chaotic as I expected. Okay, let’s call Rick Shaw using Uber. Using Uber. Yeah. So, it’s not ourĀ
first time using Uber here in Mumbai. We actually used Uber yesterday to get from the airport to ourĀ
Airbnb and it’s quite convenient and widely used by locals which gives us confidence in using itĀ
as well. We had a great impression actually when we first arrived into Mumbai because the airportĀ
itself was very modern. Great signage and English everywhere and everything just went really smooth.Ā
They even got someone to stand in line at the Uber to help you out to help us out. And yeah, itĀ
was so far a really smooth experience. One thing though, if you want to take Uber from theĀ
airport, make sure to choose Uber XL. That way you don’t have to wait in line. Yeah, cuz majorityĀ
of them were XL’s, but we pressed premier cuz we thought it would be cheaper and we waited tooĀ
long until someone told us we should just switch. It should come in 1 minute and it’s onlyĀ
59 rupees. That’s like 50 cent. Oh yeah, it’s so cheap. A dollar. Yeah, we lookĀ
for 1577. I think this is the one. 1577. Yay. Okay. Namaste. This is so cool. All right. So,Ā
we’re heading to Bandra to this cafe that I found called Subko. Should be nice. It needs some getting used to. I think the drivingĀ
here is uh they drive very close to one another and the road is not very smooth. But this is theĀ
fun. This is the fun part. I feel like nobody gets mad. It kind of reminds me of Vietnam. LikeĀ
you slow down enough that you can get past each other and then no one’s angry. But honestly, theĀ
honking is not as bad as Hanoi. It’s actually not as bad as Hanoi for sure. Thank you. Nice meetingĀ
you. We’re here this way. Yeah. Watch out though. Okay. Bye. Drive safe. Which way weĀ
go? Um this way. That direction. Oh, look at this wall mural. That’s beautiful.Ā
How was your first rickshaw experience in Mumbai? It was really good actually. I meanĀ
the roads are chaotic but people seem to know what they’re doing and the confidence. So itĀ
was it was fun. and Siraj. Siraj so friendly and just to be able to see like real lifeĀ
happening all around you as you’re drivingĀ Ā  down the streets is pretty cool. Yeah.Ā
Found it. Is it here? Here. Yeah. Oh, that’s so cute. It’s like in a little house. SomeĀ
cool specialty coffee roasters and bake house. Hello. Wow, this is so cool.Ā
Good morning. Namaste. Namaste. This is beautiful. This is the mostĀ
beautiful menu spread out like this. Super cute. Wow. Impressed. Cheers. First coffee in India. Oh, that’s really good. Wow. Are the beans fromĀ
India cuz there’s so many coffee roasters around Mumbai like when we were driving we just sawĀ
so many. Are the beans from India you think orĀ Ā  they just roast other countries beans maybe? ButĀ
it’s very delicious one thing I want to try though is Indian chai yes cuz when we were in NepalĀ
last year? 2 years ago? We were in love with chai so I want to see I want to see what’s theĀ
difference but that’s more like roadside places, small shops selling it or specialty chai shops,Ā
not like fancy places I think like this. I feel like we’re going to get our fair share of chaiĀ
before we leave India. We’re slowly, you know, adjusting our stomach. So, we’re starting from aĀ
nicer place and then we’ll we’ll work our way to street side vendors. Oh, my first dairy. Yeah. IĀ
cannot confirm 100% but ChatGPT says that if we’re going to cafes like this one Subko they proudlyĀ
use Indian beans. So most India’s coffee is grown in the south in like lush high altitude regions.Ā
It’s actually really nice to see places that focus on you know sourcing things from local farmersĀ
and ethical businesses. So coffee, for example, in India like I never I never knew this and alsoĀ
around the world as well because I think there’sĀ Ā  something called like a third wave coffee movementĀ
which is treating coffee almost like wine. you know exactly where it comes from, how everythingĀ
is treated. You probably pay a little bit more for it, but it’s a way of sustaining farmers, butĀ
also for people like connoisseurs to enjoy the product. Why do why do they call it third wave?Ā
Cuz the first wave was like instant coffee and stuff was about being cheap, being convenient.Ā
Second was like Starbucks like commercialized espressos type drinks you know that areĀ
made for the mass public. So third wave is more yeah it’s more down to earth kind ofĀ
movement like doing well by doing good. Yeah. You want some lemon tea? Not yet. Not. I’m not ready for it yet. WeĀ
are walking toward Bandra Railway Station now and stumble across this little market. It’sĀ
interesting cuz a lot of the signage said like fixed price, no bargaining. So, it’s like 250Ā
to 300 or something. That’s good. Oh, that’s beautiful, babe. This is a nice one, right? Yeah,Ā
that’s a nice color. How much is it again? 350. Oh, yeah. Yeah. This one red looks nice. I know.Ā
Thank you. You don’t want Louis Vuitton? No, this one is much more beautiful. Louis VuittonĀ
is same price? This different price. Oh, it’s a first. Oh, okay. It’s nice. But this oneĀ
300? 300. 300. Perfect. Too hot. Too hot. Yeah, this one is better. Okay. Yay. Yay. Thank you.Ā
Thank you. This will be very handy because if you go to any temples or Well, I have my shouldersĀ
covered. True. So, it’s okay. But just, but it matches your outfit add a nice accent to it.Ā
Yeah. I think it’s nice, nicer than Louis Vuitton. Oh, we can go out this way. Let’s walk through here. What the heck?Ā
Goats in the middle of the street. Hi guys. Why do they look so different?Ā
Like less hair. Hi. Don’t eat my camera. They have long ears. Yeah. Hi. Just watch where you’re walking. Okay.Ā
There’s lots of poo here. Excuse me. This part of Mumbai feels so raw, isn’t it? ItĀ
feels very local like where local people live, work. Yeah. Hang out. This looks good,Ā
too. Biryani. It smells really good. Smells really good. It’s pretty cuteĀ
because a lot of people look at us and just that’s it. But there are quite aĀ
few that say hi and say hello friend. Oh that’s how they make them. Wow roti. RumaliĀ
roti. Rumali roti. This is very rare addition in India. Oh okay. Rare edition. That looks reallyĀ
good. Yeah. It says you can get four roti plus a karma one of the I guess one of the curries forĀ
70 rupees. That’s so cheap. That is so affordable. It definitely for like working class everydayĀ
people. Thank you so much. Thank you. Seeing the price of the local food here now, I can see whyĀ
our coffee actually is expensive to most people, I guess. Real quick, a big thank you toĀ
SurfsharkVPN for sponsoring today’s video. It’s our first time in India and as you canĀ
see there are people everywhere, especially in public places. Since we’re always connectingĀ
to Wi-Fi in cafes, hotels, Airbnbs, and airports, we make sure we’re protected with Surfshark VPN.Ā
A VPN, which stands for virtual private network, encrypts our internet connection, soĀ
everything we do stays private and secure,Ā Ā  even on public Wi-Fi. That means no hackers, noĀ
trackers, and no one snooping on what we’re doing. We’re on the road for months at a time, andĀ
sometimes we can avoid doing our online banking or logging into government sites while abroad.Ā
Using a VPN gives us real peace of mind knowing that our sensitive information stays private. WeĀ
even use Surfshark Alert, which lets us know if our credit cards or emails ever appear in aĀ
data breach. The good thing about SurfsharkĀ Ā  VPN is that you can use it on unlimited devices.Ā
And you also have a 30-day money back guarantee, so you can try it risk-free. And if you use ourĀ
code FLORAANDNOTE, you get an exclusive offer plus four extra months for free. So if you travelĀ
or use public Wi-Fi a lot, definitely check out Surfshark. We’ll leave the link in our descriptionĀ
box below. Now, let’s get back to the video. This is it. Bandra Station where we are now isĀ
quite away from all the tourist attractions. So, we’re going to make our way down south and we’reĀ
going to attempt to try to take the local train.Ā Ā  I don’t know how it works, but we can ask peopleĀ
here. We’ll figure it out. Yeah. So, we can buy a ticket from this machine, right? Can you pay cashĀ
on it? And we have to pay cash or credit card. Use the app. Oh, so maybe cash weĀ
have to use there. Yeah. Okay. So,Ā Ā  we Okay. Thank you. Thank you so much. So, youĀ
cannot use the cash to buy from the machine. So, we have to go back hereĀ
and line up. Thank you. You got it. Yes, I got uh first class. FirstĀ
class. Yes. What does first class mean? AC or no AC? First class. No AC. Because when I asked himĀ
about AC, first class is a different. Which one is the which one is better, AC or first class? ACĀ
is better. AC is the best one. We go first class. We come back, we try AC. That’s nice. So, I choseĀ
the first class instead of the AC because of the timing. I think he said that we have to waitĀ
longer if we’re going to get the AC one. Oh,Ā Ā  okay. But now, where do we go? We’re going toĀ
Churchgate. Churchgate is this platform. Oh, we go up. Okay. Okay. Thank you. Go fromĀ
five. Five, it’s a fast one. If you go to three number, it’s a slow. It will takeĀ
two time. If you go to the five number, it will take only two stations. Okay. StraightĀ
to the Churchgate. Okay. Thank you. And then please can you help something for my leg?Ā
God will help you. Thank you. Thank you. I think coming inside the station is theĀ
first time I’m feeling like there’s a lot of people asking for money. Yeah. But that guy,Ā
he was helpful since we got to the station. So, I did give him whatever coins I had left. ButĀ
there’s just so many. And they come to you and they just they tap you. Especially tap on yourĀ
arm, especially children. Yeah. The train is here. This is not ours, right? Oh, is it? IĀ
don’t know. This is pretty interesting. Look, it says first class for ladies only. So,Ā
they’re separate genders. This is the AC train because look, it’s all sealed. Yeah. So,Ā
it’s similar to the BTS in Thailand. The first class one is open air. It’s not very fullĀ
in there. Do you like seafood? We do like seafood. Restaurant name is J A I H I N D. 5Ā
minutes from here. Yes, you put it in. Okay. Thank you. Okay. Thank you. Byebye. J A I H IĀ
N D. Okay. Okay. Thank you. Let’s pin it before we forget. You know what though? He might beĀ
the owner of it. The seafood restaurant. Yeah. The train is so long. Oh, thisĀ
one. The red line is first class. Oh, we have to go that way. This is secondĀ
class. Oh, no. We We’re not going to make it, babe. We’re not going to make itĀ
this way. This way. Run, run, run,Ā Ā  run, run. Go, go, go. Go, go, go.Ā
This one here. No, it’s first class. Oh, we made it. Is this a woman’s one?Ā
Oh, is it a woman train? Oh, it is. Oh, we cannot go this one. Okay, go. Go,Ā
go, go. Which one? This one. This one. I ran in there and all the women star atĀ
me. Yeah. And then and then another boyĀ Ā  looked at us from the outside and I was like,Ā
“This is for woman? We cannot?” He’s like, “Oh no.” That’s what you have to watch outĀ
for when you take a train here in Mumbai. You think I can stand over there?Ā
Go experience it. Open air. Wow. Isn’t it scary? It is. But you can also see that there’s so many peopleĀ
halfway out enjoying the breeze. I got to say that was one of theĀ
coolest train experiences we ever had. That one’s actually really fun and I’m reallyĀ
proud of us for being able to figure it out. Figure it out, but with the help of so manyĀ
people actually who look at us being like,Ā Ā  “You guys are so lost. Can I help you?” TheĀ
trick is to look confused. Everyone will come and help you here in India. So, now thatĀ
we’re in Churchgate, there’s a lot of kind of tourist attractions and little food stallsĀ
that we have pinned over the last couple weeks, and a lot of suggestions are actually fromĀ
our subscribers as well. So, we’re excited to see what this area is like. And I think thisĀ
is one of the most popular areas of Mumbai. Hey. Hey. Hey. Are they playing cricket? I’ve neverĀ
played cricket before. I have no idea what cricket is. I don’t know theĀ
rules. But the way that they throw,Ā Ā  it’s so interesting. Now these boys are justĀ
practicing the throw. But then on the other side, those guys are in uniform. So they must beĀ
like a team or something. Yeah. What a view, huh? Mumbai. Not what I imagined. No.Ā
Surprisingly more chill than I thought. Are they English books? Yeah. AndĀ
only 100 rupees each, babe. Yeah. Let me check these. It says super sale. There’sĀ
actually two books that I wanted to buy before. You happy? Yeah, I got this for 150. Why isĀ
it so cheap? Do they have all the pages? Yeah, like the inside looks good. I mean, the font isĀ
quite big. Is it maybe they just like reprinted the book? I’m not sure. Yeah, you can see theĀ
resolution I guess is not as good, but it doesn’t matter. The story is still the same. Nice. I feelĀ
like I’m shopping a lot already. Very successful day for you. Okay, now I’m going to bring you toĀ
my fountain just across the street here. Right there. Welcome to Flora Fountain. A fountainĀ
dedicated for Flora. The Roman goddess. Not me, but her at the top. Oh, that’s what she is. Yeah.Ā
There was another name to this fountain before, but it’s known as here the Flora FountainĀ
now because of her. And there’s something about the different figures at the bottomĀ
represent industrial, cereal, planet, edible food products of India, something toĀ
represent a country. Yeah. Interesting. I noticed a lot of beautiful buildings around thisĀ
area. Yeah. I feel like this is kind of like the business district of Mumbai and a lot of the oldĀ
buildings have now been turned into new buildings like this one back here. Oriental building.Ā
Oriental now is actually a insurance company. But back in the day, this building here wasĀ
a cathedral high school in the 1800s. And then you look at every different corner, youĀ
see also like old buildings, old structure,Ā Ā  kind of gothic looking buildings sticking out.Ā
Yeah, even the railway headquarters back there looked really beautiful as well. I feel like weĀ
did a lot of walking and we deserve some chai. This place must be good. All the localsĀ
are here. Look at just the chai. This is the list of different chai. And all we knowĀ
is masala chai. What are these other ones? We got to try one original and then choose oneĀ
specialty. And then they have refreshing chai like ginger lemon chai. Oh, that’s thatĀ
sounds delicious. Flora. Yeah, it’s mine. masala. This one is masala. Masala chai. Yeah. IsĀ
there one more chai? Oh, it’s coming. Okay. Okay. Thank you. What is this? This is bun maska whichĀ
is I think like a soft bun with butter inside. Oh, you can go here. And that’s the originalĀ
chai. I’m not sure. I don’t know if this is I think this is… Oh, I smell cardamom. ThisĀ
is the ginger cardamom chai. It comes in these little clay cups that looks so cute, but I sawĀ
people drink and then throw them in the trash. I try first. Oh my goodness. Really? Oh my god. Wow. It’s so intense. Oh, is it sweet? I orderedĀ
the normal sweetness, but it’s actually really, really good. Damn, you’re going to loveĀ
this so much. I think we need to order more. We’re from Thailand. From Thailand. Wow. Right.Ā
That’s crazy good. That is so good. It feels like someone gave you a really warm hug. That’s what itĀ
feels like. I think we have to master how to make this back in Thailand. This is so so good. Wow.Ā
Okay. This one I feel like you can’t eat because of the butter. So, I’ll try it for us. Yeah. It’sĀ
just really buttered. So, buttered bun, you know. Oh, maybe dip it in the chai.Ā
Dip it in there. There you go. No. It’s a buttered bun. It’s probably likeĀ
local comfort food. Nothing too crazy this one, but the chai. Thank you. Oh, it’s hot. Can youĀ
help me? Thank you. Now, this one is interesting. It’s just instant noodles cooked in curry.Ā
But it’s so thick. Smells delicious, though. Oh my god, that’s so delicious. It’s just a explosion of flavors. Wow. Oh my god. It is curry sauce, isn’t it? IsĀ
it spicy? A little bit. Spicy, peppery. Is it creamy or it’s just…it’s not creamy atĀ
all. It’s just very full, very bold tasting. And I like that it’s so hot. This is one of theĀ
best instant noodles I ever had. So before coming to India, we have watched a few Bollywood movies.Ā
I remember the four good ones that we watched. 12 Fail, Srikanth, what’s the other one GangubaiĀ
Gangubai and the last one was Maharaj and this was one of the filming location yes it’s calledĀ
Asiatic Society Mumbai I think it’s a library yeah it’s a state central library town hall yeahĀ
it’s probably not the popular tourist site but we always want to come here to check it out theĀ
movie Maharaj really stuck with us because it’s also based on a real story. So, it’s aboutĀ
a young journalist who was questioning the immoral behaviors of a religious leader andĀ
took him to court and it is basically telling people how important education is during that timeĀ
period. So, yeah, I think a library is like the perfect setting. It says right here it was builtĀ
in 1804. I actually see like a couple coming out in their like wedding outfits. So maybe this is aĀ
popular spot for wedding photos. Do you think we can go inside? I’m not sure. But first of all,Ā
we have to figure out how to cross the street. Okay. Ready? Should we cross here orĀ
should we cross in the front? Okay.Ā Ā  Here. Here. Here. Come. Come. Come. Are we Oh, no. Let’s go to the front. I’m scared. Okay.Ā
We’ll follow you. We’re going to follow you. This is the best way. Okay.Ā
Oh, okay. All right. Thank you. Oh, no. We missed a chance.Ā
Okay. After this. Okay. Run, run, run, run, run. Thank you. Thank you. This is probably the mostĀ
popular spot here in Mumbai. This is the Gateway of India. But unfortunately,Ā
it’s under construction. Oh no. Still beautiful though. Mhm. Look at that hotel. That’s theĀ
Taj Mahal Hotel. I actually looked at that to see if I could surprise you when we can stayĀ
there for a few nights. And what happened?Ā Ā  $400-500 a night and it’s too expensive.Ā
It’s over budget, but it’s so beautiful. So, you surprised me with a $60 Airbnb instead?Ā
Yes. And coming here to see the outside of it. So Flora, what is this gate here? So this is theĀ
Gateway of India and actually at the top it says that it is to commemorate… where you from?Ā
Thailand. Thailand. Nice meeting you. Namaste. Nice to meet you. Nice meeting you. How is India?Ā
India is awesome. We love it. Mumbai people are so friendly. It’s our first day actually in Mumbai.Ā
So, so far so good. How much do we go? Pardon me. How much days do you have? Uh, three days.Ā
Three days. And then we will also go to Goa and Kerala. Yeah. So, this is our first stop.Ā
Thank you. Namaste. Nice to meet you. Namaste. Why is this gate here? Back to my story.Ā
So this spot here is to commemorate the British monarchs first stepping into IndiaĀ
in 1911…Of course come. We’ll tell you about this date in a bit. Okay. ThankĀ
you. Thank you. Thank you. Namaste. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you. Thank you.Ā
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Namaste. Thank you. I love Thailand. Oh, thank you. IĀ
love India. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Okay. Okay. Come, come, come.Ā
Come. Flora is very popular. Bye-bye. Thank you. Bye-bye. Have a good day. Wow, you’re a celebrity. You think youĀ
think it’s me? I think it’s you. You’reĀ Ā  so cute. I think it’s your hair cuz nobodyĀ
has short hair here. I think I think it is. Right. Everyone has long hair. I think longĀ
hair is associated with very beautiful. So, I think I’m just cool. I think they want to focus. Okay, Flora, tell us about this gate. We haveĀ
to keep walking though. Keep walking. So this is the Gate of India. This is the place where KingĀ
George V and Queen Mary first stepped onto India back in 1911. So this gate wasn’t here but theyĀ
built it to commemorate the time that they came to visit and that signifies kind of the colonialĀ
rule right but then in like 1948 when the British troops were leaving India, like when India gainedĀ
the independence, this was also the spot where theĀ Ā  British troops left. So it’s kind of both, right?Ā
It’s like welcoming but also exiting and this is Yeah, both. It’s really really interesting.Ā
But the gate is under construction today,Ā Ā  so we can’t really see it at its prime. IĀ
think we are now the tourist attraction. Yeah. Okay. Can we get everyone in there? Are youĀ Ā  from Mumbai? Yes. Everyone is fromĀ
Mumbai. Is Mumbai beautiful? Okay. You’re cool. So, what’s your first impressions of India?Ā
Honestly, it is better than I expected. I think Mumbai has a really good vibe. We met soĀ
many friendly people today. A lot of helpful people and they have lots of energy. Yeah.Ā
And the food has been amazing. So I’m excited to keep exploring because Mumbai is just ourĀ
first stop. We are also planning to do a bit more exploring of Mumbai and then we go to Goa,Ā
go to Kerala. So if you are new to our channel, make sure to subscribe and follow our IndiaĀ
journey. Thanks again for watching and asĀ Ā  always have a wonderful day. We’llĀ
see you in the next one. Bye bye.

  1. A few years down the future, all these old local metro system will be upgraded to a modern version as per our PM's vision. So people who like old school desi style might not have long to enjoy these rides.

  2. I would not compare your travels in India to other Asian countries. Rather pursue the higher knowledge which formed a foundational basis for most of the Asian countries including Thailand.

  3. loves the Vlog. glad you are enjoying India. Visit Bangalore, Kerala and Goa too if you are in the south. and if you have time visit Hampi, varkala, wayanad

  4. Love the videos.
If you have time, check out the city of Hampi in Karnataka. It is a bit of a detour inland of Goa but totally worth it for a day or two before heading south to Kerala. I backpacked through India about 10 years ago and it was one of the coolest things/places along my entire trip across india. It is an ancient temple city almost similar to Angkor Wat.

  5. Good to see you both having a great time in India. Regarding those books you purchased, they are either used or counterfeit. However, books are generally a lot less expensive in India, even the new geniune ones compared to developed countries.

  6. It's refreshing to see foreigners with basic common sense and a basic budget to go checkout good places instead of spending time in the filth if my country lol.
Also North India has similar chill vibes but most YouTubers like to focus on the dirt. (Wink wink views)

  7. Hey guys thanks for visiting india. I just wanted to share a fun fact regarding the asiatic library. One more bollywood film called pyaasa from 1957 climax was shot there. It is a cult classic. You can give it a try if you wish. ā¤ā¤šŸŽ‰
