The NORWEGIAN XPLORER Personal Story on ULTIMATE 5000 Mile American Car Camping Roadtrip Adventure
If you are wondering about my history with America I used to be a resident this is the untold story about my past, present and future in America it is also my ultimate american roadtrip, adventure, backpacking & camping movie I am stealth camping outside of West Yellowstone 5000 miles through the american west Here is my car camping setup You usually find me in my van
in the middle of a blizzard or snow storm… …Exploring the remote corners and Frozen borderlands of arctic Norway But in September 2024 I left my van in the arctic
and traveled back to the US for 4 weeks To tell you my American story All right dear friends I have arrived in
the United States I’m uh currently heading west from St George where I stayed the night and I’m
going to head towards Lone Pine going to do a backpacking trip around the Horseshoe Meadows
area I am so happy to be back here spent the night in St George of all places
that’s where I had booked a motel for the night and I just wanted to have this drive into the
sunset last night didn’t film anything was a It was a long journey I had two layovers and uh I flew from Stavanger
Norway to Amsterdam and then on to Los Angeles had a 3 and 1/ half hour layover in Los
Angeles and then uh my final destination was um Las Vegas I drove 2 hours
from Las Vegas to uh St George two beautiful hours but I was a bit too tired so it’s hard to
drive at night because of all the trucks they go so fast and I was not really in the mood to
drive very fast anyway here I am now in the
red desert going to head over to the Sierra Nevada can’t wait to see that area again it’s a
big uh Wildfire going on over there as usual it’s September the 4th today so the Coffee
Pot fire is Raging and there’s also fires up uh in Idaho
that spread smoke all over the place and there’s a big one or a medium one just around the Brooks
Lake up in the Teton Wilderness and and uh that’s another place I had planned to go so I’m going to
go to the Sierra first now have a permit out of uh Cottonwood pass Horseshoe Meadows tomorrow and now it
is 10:00 here in Utah so going to be 9:00 in uh California so we’re going to head over there it’s
going to take me five 5 hours so arrival time is 3:30 so today I’m uh starting by driving through
the Virgin River Gorge and then going to pass through the desert over to Las Vegas and then I’m
going to go north west and into Death Valley for a little bit I’m a big fan of the Killers and they
have plenty of songs about driving this route that I’m doing now as some of you might know I have
spent a lot of time in the desert out here in the American West and also in the Sierra in the
High Sierra so I feel feel like I’m back home now and I’m so excited about the cheap gas here
I thought it was much more expensive I had uh a little bit over half a tank left on my uh rental
car here and I went into uh the gas station and asked for 50 bucks and it was 21 bucks so I’m kind
of a little bit out of touch with the gas prices here because it’s so much cheaper than it is in
Scandinavia so let’s sit back and enjoy the ride I found out a great way to get uh cell service
and uh unlimited uh data uh when I’m visiting here um and that is through T-Mobile this is
not sponsored it any way but uh I was uh trying to find out the best way to get something working
uh before I entered the United States and T-Mobile has an app called uh T-mobile e-sim or something so
I was able to uh download my e-sim and activate the uh plan while I was still in Norway and that was
great because I could get um that all set up and taken care of so that I could just turn off my
Norwegian line so no super expensive data roaming to worry about so it works really well and I’ve
uh been using it for the first half day now and no problem at all I can still use my WhatsApp
and my iMessages and everything like before that’s just a perfect workaround for getting
a plan and it’s $50 for the unlimited plan uh for one month and uh then you can renew it so it’s
like a prepaid plan Here Comes um Tesla in insane speed look at this yeah so anyway highly recommend
trying the T-Mobile e-sim app great new technology so we’re in the heart of the Virgin River Gorge kind of fascinating deep
Canyon Road here I wonder what this Canyon would look like
without a road through it so as I’m approaching Las Vegas there is a
bunch of f35s flying over my head here and it looks like they’re Norwegian so they they
might be the same ones that um I showed you uh from the winter exercise up in Norway I’m just
kidding I can’t see what nationality they have but uh they could be the same ones there was a bunch
of um US Marine uh f35s and Norwegian ones uh on the ground at the same time there and here’s one
Landing so cool going to turn towards Beaty now in couple of miles and go into the desert towards
Death Valley the Northern end of Death Valley look at that over there to the right there so I’m just passing through all the UFO areas
Area 51 and um desert areas out here west of Las Vegas and it’s getting warm it’s 100° now um
yesterday it was 107 that’s around 41° C I think so pretty warm day out here and I’m not yet in
uh Death Valley wonder how warm that is going to be these desert Landscapes out
here are quite spectacular it’s just really pretty but uh what
an unhospitable area this is this is also around the area with all the test
sites for nuclear bombs all the nuclear tests that were going on in the 50s in
these areas here look at these here wow that’s insane I believe this uh Highway 95 is actually called the Extraterrestrial Highway
way because of all the UFO sightings here we’re arriving in Beatty
Junction and this is where I head into Death Valley so it’s 96°
here right now got these guys here donkeys or mules it’s funny it’s reindeer in uh Norway and it’s donkeys and mules here
in Beatty Junction turn left this a really cool steampunk building
here might be coming back through here after I’m done in the Sierra but now it’s time to head
into Death Valley that could be a hot pleasure and then uh going to drive across the
mountains to Lone Pine to the Eastern Sierra inter agency Visitor Center it’s only 8
miles to Death Valley National Park from here time to drop into Death Valley. 93 up here on the pass it’ll be interesting to see how hot it gets so this is Death Valley it was 100° in my car when
I stopped to take a look here feels incredibly hot pretty cool View so pay the entrance fee $30 to just drive through here continue on daylight Pass road
for seven miles and uh I should have gotten a America the beautiful pass but
I haven’t gotten that yet 100° right now 101 102° this is absolutely not the
right day to be in Death Valley 103° well it was 107 in St George yesterday 104° well now it’s 107 again
like it was yesterday so 41° Celsius pretty hot outside
now 109° what’s that 42 43° C so it’s a 110° here now at the
bottom I don’t know how much that is in
Celsius but I’m guessing around uh 44 43 44 111° F Siri won’t cooperate and tell me what
that is in Celsius right now but find it sorry I can’t show the result to you while
you’re continue on California 190 West for 68 miles 112 there getting warmer
and warmer so I’ve been in Death Valley a couple of times before but
this is the first time I drive this road over to Lone Pine so I guess I’m
going to do a big climb again pretty soon 113 so uh 113° f is 45° C that’s pretty
intense probably the warmest I’ve ever been in actually and uh that’s pretty
exciting but I want to get out of this I wasn’t here to get extreme heat from the
extreme cold in the winter to the extreme heat in uh summer there’s uh 45° on
the plus side and 34° on the minus side that’s pretty cool there’s
uh Mount Langley and Mount Whitney doesn’t look too Smokey over there right now I don’t know how bad it is we see half an hour left this was a long drive so I’m uh driving through Alabama Hills
there’s a detour because of uh closed Road or maybe the detour is not for
me but there’s a detour if you want to go to Whitney portal so going up through
Alabama Hills here and it’s amazing so I went to the Eastern Sierra inter agency
Visitor Center and they told me my permit was good to go for visiting Mount Whitney so
if uh I can make it uh with my altitude uh sensitivity or whatever is going to
happen there I’m going to go and uh do that we’ll have to see I might not be in shape
for those elevations now but I’m going to give it a try so everything is set now got uh
some propane gas from my stove and I got the fire permit or Back Country fire permit
or whatever it’s called so that I can bring my stove I have no Illusions about what kind
of shape I’m in this year it’s been 4 years since since I was up on 3,000 M uh elevation uh
Norway’s highest mountain is uh of course only 8,000 ft or 2,469 M so that’s just a completely
different kind of Beast the Beast you have up here right there is 4500 M it’s been so hot
today so 45° C 113° Fahrenheit I think that’s the warmest I’ve experienced in my life and it’s 92
here it’s going to be a perfect uh 65° or 18° C up at Horseshoe Meadows can’t wait to get into little bit
cooler climate I arrived here right in a heat wave basically so you can see the road where
I came through that Gap in the mountains over there from Death Valley that
was a long drive this is a pretty awesome Road climbing up now of
the valley getting some amazing views there is the
road I came over on okay I’m finally back in the Sierra it’s
uh September 5th and I have a 7 Day permit or 8 days or for as long as I want to basically
and I’m heading in the direction towards Mount Whitney so I have the option of going up there
spoke to the rangers yesterday and they said my permit was fine to visit Whitney so we’ll see
about that haven’t been up in these elevations for 4 years so that should be an issue and Stoked to be back in the Sierra long drive from Utah last
night but it’s beautiful and today is a very warm day well I’m finally pitched in the High Sierra
again going to enjoy this chicken Spring Lake and just take it easy here and get even
more acclimatized to the elevation beautiful place oh that’s warm well the wind calmed down and um the sun is out so it might
be a really warm evening well it’s uh around 7 pm and jet lagged as
I am this is very late in my head so just going to go to bed well first coffee in the Sierra in four years I’m so happy to be out here again
never expected to be here again honestly the Sierra are so special can’t think of anywhere else in the world
that it’s like this place big Whitney Meadow out there so you usually find me battling blizzards and snow
storms and extreme weather in Arctic Norway in my van or in the tent but uh now I’m back somewhere
completely different where it kind of all started for me I’m in the United States and I’m back
in the Sierra Nevada didn’t really think I’d be back up in this amazing place anytime soon but
here I am so kind of surprised about this this is used to be my home mountain range and uh now I’m
only visiting but still this is such a big part of who I am and what my channel is about really
these mountains in the Sierra Nevada uh in the Eastern Sierra mostly and uh all of this amazing
scenery so even though I’m not in a van for these four weeks I invite you to come along and have
a look at where some of my heart is this is deep ingrained into my spirit and it’s a gorgeous
gorgeous place so come and join me for these four weeks in the United States it’s going to be
quite exciting I’m recording this on the second day basically so I do not know all the adventures
yet but the first two days here up in the Sierra heading towards Mount Whitney it’s just absolutely
gorgeous so let’s go on an American Adventure this time and we’ll get back to the Arctic blizzards in
Norway soon enough it’s uh September sixth today and uh I’m here for 4 weeks So the plan is to be out
here in the Sierra Nevada for about a week then we’ll see where the road goes if you want to know
more about all the details of this American tour you can find maps and exclusives and uh a lot
of behind the scenes and extra material on my patreon NorwegianXplorer or you can sign up
to become a member of my YouTube channel right here by hitting the join button there should
be maps and campsites and everything so thanks for for coming along even though I’m not in a
van today it should be pretty exciting anyway In this video I will reveal my history with the United States
and why the American west is so special to me this is so hard right now it doesn’t feel like
I will make this all the way to Whitney a little bit low on morale right now first look that’s a long way up oh man very long way am I
really going all the way up there what a beautiful mountain incredible good morning it is Sunday and today is a rest
and recreation day not so much Recreation as uh just rest going to hike up from uh here I am now
Crabtree Meadow ranger station and up to Guitar Lake and uh that’s just a few miles and then I’m
going to start bright and early tomorrow and go up to Whitney well now we’re talking that’s
some amazing views up there going to be walking straight onto Whitney now Timberline Lake what a spectacle there’s Guitar Lake finally Guitar Lake I opted to go higher, I spoke with two rangers they said two terraces up was a
good spot so just crossing 12,000 feet this has to be the best campsite
I’ve ever had absolutely stunning Whitney what an absolutely amazing place to have Camp and tomorrow I’m heading
up here all the way way up there Got pulled pork today to celebrate this fantastic Camp okay it is uh Summit day it is 5:50 in the
morning and starting to get light everyone else is already up there I’ve seen them going
up since 3: in the morning so they did not get to enjoy this amazing trail. all they want is
the sunrise and in my humble opinion sunrises you can see from anywhere but you cannot see this
Mount Whitney Trail going up from Guitar Lake which is the most spectacular Trail in the
whole world in my opinion anyway let’s go welcome to the most incredible of all Trails
this is my favorite Trail in the world look at the colors now out wow up there already is the junction
came up faster than I thought cool always looking for Forester
pass could be out there so that was trail pass now for the hard part not the steep part but
this is the hard part because of elevation it is also a quite spectacular part so got 1.9 miles to the summit out there is Bighorn Plateau I camped
there many years ago beautiful place Forester pass is
probably in one of those notches don’t know which one it is really cold there’s a frost
smoke coming from my breath now can’t beat this and up there is Whitney you can see
the Hut first got to get around this stuff here probably a mile left to go it’s so cold sweet okay so the Summit is right behind
here and got to go up and around the sky is just so blue up here now nearly there on the plateau now just going
to do a little half circle and here we are there’s Mount Langley the highest point in
the contiguous uh United States so I made it to the summit it was actually easier
than I thought it would be I was uh scared that I would get uh altitude sickness or something I
didn’t feel like I was in the best shape this time around but was actually not too bad probably
because it’s the fifth day in the Sierra so I’ve been acclimatized slowly even though I haven’t been
higher up than 12,000 ft mission
accomplished well that’s that it’s time to head down again
was mighty cold up here in the wind today what a spectacular place It takes me 2 more days to hike 30 miles back the way I came so I’m done with my big Sierra trip uh got uh
much cooler temperatures down here now 71° F I’m heading back towards Utah and then north towards
uh Wyoming and Montana that’s the plan it’s on for a long drive through Death Valley again through
the desert and everything so I already showed you that so I’m probably not going to film much of it
but there might be some highlights and then we’re going to get out to Utah and uh further north
looking forward to that that was the original plan so this stop in U Lone Pine and um in the Sierra
was just a detour basically so here we go so this is uh what the smoke looks like coming down to
Panamint Springs and uh next Valley over from Death Valley and it is Smokey there’s uh plenty of new fires around the
western United States after I uh went into the Sierra and there’s a lot of tourists stopping
random places around here today I don’t know if there’s something special going on maybe
it’s just cooler weather so people come out here when I drove past uh or through Death
Valley uh a little over a week ago it was 113° or 45° Celsius that’s quite something what
a beautiful place though beautiful and harsh good morning I’m uh in St George had a
night at motel here and now I’m going to head east and uh North going to go over to page across
the Arizona strip and uh from there I’m going to turn north and uh head up to Hanksville through a
few places I’ve never been and then further North toward towards uh the Yellowstone area it is still
super Smoky I was hoping to be able to see more but um it is what it is can’t do anything about
all the fires especially the big one bridge fire in La now that is uh really kicking in anyway
going to go to Hurricane first get some food some groceries and see if I can see Matt’s Offroad
recovery I’m a big fan watch a lot of the shows from out here I was also considering going through
Sand Hollow but I think I’m going to do that some other time but uh hurricane and then across
the Arizona strip and uh further on towards uh Page and Monument Valley and uh maybe up the moki
dugway that’s one of the things I’ve been planning in also want to go to Alstrom Point first see
if that road is open I heard it was flooded a week ago but that could have changed by now I
love the Arizona strip driving across that is just awesome it’s been a long time since I did
that and I’ve never done it west to east you could barely make out the Zion National Park
in the distance there but it’s covered in Smoke so hard to see but I I know those Contours
okay I’m going to actually take a detour to Matt’s off-road recovery and see if I
can buy a ball cap for my dad that’ll be fun let’s see if there’s anyone here this looks interesting got the morrvair very cool
I think this is called the banana we’re good yeah well the smoke is pretty bad but it could
be worse I guess looking out over hurricane and St George over my shoulder or over my arm here
and uh getting up on the Arizona a strip area so over to the side here out the window you can
see Zion National Park I guess if uh my camera picks it up through the smoke should be able to
see some of the stuff up in Zion National Park from here good stuff I’m going this way so we’re in hilldale or Colorado
City now it’s right the border between Utah and Arizona at this view here there’s the
Arizona State Line this area has become so developed since I was here the first time
10 years ago the Arizona strip is basically the huge strip of land between um the Grand
Canyon and the grand staircase might even be a part of the grand staircase
but uh it’s a huge strip of land here got the Grand Canyon far out in this
direction so we’re actually at 5,000 ft up here which is 1,500 M so it’s pretty high up we’re approaching uh Kanab here so I’m going east now from uh Kanab up towards page I think it’s uh Highway 300 or maybe it’s Highway 89 I’m not 100% sure on that
yet but it’s going to be pretty cool Drive driven this road once the opposite direction
but it wasn’t that smokey back then that’s 10 years ago something like that and then I’m
going to see if I can get to Alstrom point can start seeing some of the amazing Cliffs
around here now just cross the Paria townsite like U place where they filmed a lot
of western movies and maybe they still do I’m not really sure but uh it’s a
full terrain out here getting close to Lake Powell now and getting more of the
Red Cliffs and uh Utah and uh Arizona Landscapes well this feels like the the gateway
to the staircases or maybe it’s down to Lake Powell wow wide and Open Spaces big water and I’m going to make
a left in couple of miles down here okay this looks a little bit rough for
uh rental two wheeel Drive SUV the GPS gave me the wrong direction here for a little
bit so this is the right Road the Smoky Mountain [Music] Road all right let’s try this
so the challenge is going to be this wash down here uh I know that was flooded uh couple of
weeks ago I think it’s been pretty dry since then so it might be passable but it might also
not be so let’s see what’s going on down [Music] here that does not look like a problem at [Music] all yep no problem a little bit of sand here
that’s always a challenge and and we’re through that some sort of Blue Desert out here feels like Factory butte country out here so there’s a first look at Navajo
Mountain out there in the distance pretty cool here ends the developed Road and that looks like a real mud pile from the last rainfall need to go and have a look at that it’s my little Kia rental not really made for these conditions this here has been a really bad mud
rut but it looks like it’s good on the side here and it looks good over here again so going to keep driving a little bit longer kind of surprised to see all this blue
desert out here it’s like the area around Hanksville with Factory butte and and
the Blue Desert out there very cool look at these ruts here I have a feeling I’m going out there to that point wow look at this
incredible terrain out here so awesome so if you wanted to know this is the
Smoky Mountain Road and uh it’s a road that can take you all the way up to
Highway 12 I’ve seen videos of people driving that whole thing with jeeps
and overlanding vehicles looks pretty cool Canyon Country thing about this road so far is that uh
this mud uh or clay almost turns into pavement when it’s uh dry so it’s uh been
pretty comfortable driving so far there’s more miles to go okay here’s a difficult
one I’m going to take the high rout yep okay here’s the crossroad and it’s getting
warmer it’s 85 now going to turn right here going to take a look at the info panel first
well looks like uh people are unhappy with uh the panels and the National Monument that
is sad to see definitively a little bit more challenging and bumpy out here now and
larger rocks larger bumps but uh no big problems so far in 0.3 miles I’ll be turning off
to different Road maybe it’s better maybe it’s worse well the road has certainly been
rougher for a while now so not filming much just concentrating on getting over rock ledges
and uh steeper stuff where high clearance is needed or semi high clearance not super high
clearance so far fascinating desert out here some Painted Desert out here
look at those colors beautiful well this is quite a little Adventure out
here what an awesome Place really loving this let’s see what this next part
holds 5 miles out across here just uh spoke to a few local utans in a
big uh heavy duty truck and uh they said say I was probably good to go always
want to know the opinions of the locals look at this stuff here coming into view so there’s quite a lot of sand here right now
got 3 miles to go and I’ve been going through some sand areas that’s got its own challenge definitely
could give you difficulties but it looks uh and feels like cars have kind of flattened Sandy
spots and made it pretty solid so it’s uh it’s a long drive to get out here and uh hoping I’m
hoping it’s going to be worth it now it’s Sandy again sand is very pleasant till you get stuck going to come up
on some amazing stuff here it’s 89 degrees now so let’s see I think need to be over here look at this coming up and the road is getting gnarly I think this is as far as we
can go let’s go have a look first of all it’s 87° so we’re at around 28°
C and uh yeah this is going to be something so the point itself is 2 miles
over here and and uh that doesn’t go with my car as far as I’ve been told can’t get
up there this uh section here is probably impassible with my vehicle also I might
have to walk just going to get some food first spectacular okay I left my car and uh going on a hike
out here in the desert it is stifling hot but not crazy it’s like 90° 30°
Celsius and uh it’s Smoky but uh this allstrom point is spectacular and
it looks like I get all the visibility I need it’s a 2 mile hike each way just
kind of keep walking and uh head back to the car afterwards and Camp up here it’s such
a gorgeous place show you more as I get closer pretty sure the end of the trail is out here
somewhere so need to go around this drainage here would you look at this stuff over
here that’s the ledge or that’s the island I’m going to go out on I
think out here there probably page somewhere in the smoke wow this is going to be just awesome woohoo I love slick rock benches a little bit further I think we’re heading over here but there’s also this place right here let’s
go to what’s uh marked as allr point on the map first nearly there it’s hot imagine camping here oo incredible absolutely fantastic guess I need to go out on that one
that’s the point itself that’s the whole point of it look at
this incredible stuff just fantastic the sun is so strong
I’m so hot I need to continue out on the point itself before
the sunset takes this place away well here we are wow is this the best view in the whole Canyon lands I might be inclined
to think so all this here so cool hey there buddy Gunsight Bay on a Friday night 4:30ish afternoon wonder what all this looked
like before they put up the dam Edward Abbey saw it all
in desert solitaire who can say no to this I mean this out
here this is just too good to give up it’s a little bit of a moon over
here think I found my place here right at the edge basically maybe 3 yards
from The Edge and uh view is magnificent walking back in the dark now boosting up my ISO to 1250 so it looks pretty day bright it’s warm and dead quiet out here
now it’s a lovely time to walk gorgeous and a bat that’s awesome if you can
see the lights out here it’s probably not quite page but on
the other side of the Bridge or dam so that it’s probably pagee and I have a bat following
me guiding my way that is so cool it’s uh attracted to my headlamp I’m pretty sure here’s the car so it’s 8:00 I’m back in the car I’ve
installed myself ready to go to sleep it’s only 8:00 and it is 82° outside which is
uh 26° cish and it is pretty warm but I open all the windows and uh kind of getting a
little bit of air running through here so the draft kind of makes it bearable should
get better as we get into the night so I might show you a little bit more of my
car camping setup as I get it a little bit more systematic now it’s all a mess
uh until I figure out how to do everything uh should get super warm tomorrow when the Sun
rises so I’m going to bed early and uh had a splendid day fantastic day so now I’m car camping
uh 2 miles from the point itself and it’s pretty spectacular view from here as well well I have
left uh my campsite for the night out by Alstrom point and now I’m driving this uh gravel road back
to big water you cannot stay in your car for too long before it gets stifling hot so I’m just uh
going to get out of here before gets too warm now I’m going to go into page I’m
going to get some gas and I’m going to get some food and water before I
head over to Kayenta and up through Monument Valley and up the moki dugway
crossed into Glen Canyon recreational area again and you can see Lake Powell
coming into view here so out here somewhere is Alstrom point that’s probably in my top five
viewpoints I’ve seen in the whole world actually he so these uh plateaus up here are uh
6,000 ft that’s uh nearly 2,000 M High okay I’m now on Highway 160 going east Northeast
towards uh Kayenta it is Saturday today so I see a lot of people out and having uh barbecues and Market
stalls and stuff like that out here I’m on Navajo Nation I’m always a little bit kind of confused by
the time zones in here because it varies by state and by Navajo Nation they all have different time
zones or they do not follow daylight saving time or stuff like that so there’s like individual
time zones that might just be like half an hour apart or something thing so I don’t know what the
time is now my phone says 1:14 but uh I don’t know I have no idea been here many times before but
never driven in this direction so it’s a new view so kayenta as far as I’ve understood this
is kind of the center for the navajo Community you never know if that
information is correct if you ask a Navajo they might say [Music] different
lot of history here that’s for sure looks like we’re driving into the
smoke again down here south it’s uh not that Smoky but I can see it’s
way more Smokey towards the North if you can see this but to the left is south
and to the right is North I’m driving du West now and you can see the smoke out
to the right there is just thick as soup yeah this is the classic side the
classic look from Monument Valley but uh the sun is uh kind of ruining the
colors and everything but there it is let’s continue so we’re approaching the famous
Forrest Gump point where he stopped running this is a road I’ve never driven before I head
towards Moki dugway been to Goosenecks state park that is right around the corner here but
now driven over the moki dugway so I’m going to drive up those switchbacks and then
I’m going to probably going to find a place to Camp so I got the Valley of the Gods out
to the S side this direction here and uh that’s a very popular spot to Wild camp or
go boondocking with um RV and vans and stuff it’s 87 degrees Fahrenheit now it’s
4 o’clock and uh that should be around uh 28 29° celsus still a bit too hot to stop
for camping so going to go out and look uh viewpoints above the moki dugway going to
climb this wall here on some switchbacks on a gravel road I wonder why they never
paved it okay here we go the Moki dugway From Below 3 miles of switchbacks that’s funny and we are on gravel this is a steep one wow that’s quite intense actually it’s uh 10% grade that’s quite
a lot but I did see a grater whatever it’s called machine down there and uh probably means they
keep it pretty well graded and maintained up here absolutely spectacular got some narrow spots this a spooky point there where
the road has collapsed to the side little bit of payment again oh the views are crazy and it’s steep [Music] you don’t want to fall outside here [Music] that’s it not bad really at all kind of similar
to a lot of stuff we have in Norway although most of the time it’s paved but it’s much
narrower so really amazing views though just crazy going to take off to Moki point now
not Moki point but Muley Point see if I can get out there and see the views this is the
Muley Point Road red sand and dust and a dust devil bye there spectacular campsites out here
so it’s 4:30 I think I need to stay out here looks like an adventure no cell
service though need to check the forecast don’t want to get any rain here but oh here it is amazing wow
little bit of bad Road here last stretch this is undoubtably my spot I camp right here let’s take a look at this really got to wait until the light gets better it’s the San Juan
River drains into Colorado River little bit past Alstrom point
out here is Monument Valley pretty neat got Navajo Mountain out there going
to have to wait until the light gets better it’s 4:35 now so I think there’s a trail down
here probably follows this shelf here looks impossible but you never know [Music] so this has been quite a week was on
the summit of Mount Whitney on uh Monday yesterday Friday I was at olstrom point and
uh today is Saturday I’m at muly point and a lot of stuff in between there so this is
super cool going to Camp up here tonight overlooking Monument Valley and and the San Juan River so pretty awesome kind of tired now so hope I’ll sleep well I think you can see
Monument Valley out here somewhere behind me this is cool super cool so there’s some rather wild thunderstorms out
in the Basin just to the east here and I’m at uh the end of this long Sand Road here so it’s
5:00 and I wanted to make sure that it doesn’t get surprised by some big rainstorms and a flash
flood out here that would make it impossible to get back on pavement so I’m going to drive the
four miles out on pavement and spend the rest of the night there so I don’t get stuck in here I
might be too over cautious but uh uh I don’t like Taking Chances especially out here on the sand
I know what it will do to the road if it gets some serious uh rain here turns into a real mud
bath and no chance of getting out in a few days it’s a beautiful a little bit cooler
Sunday morning it is 8:45 now and I’m heading towards Hanksville first going to
get up on Highway 95 beautiful Highway up uh through the desert and um we’ll see
maybe I’ll make this a long driving day Sundays are usually good for driving so uh I
might go all all the way up to Wyoming today I try to stop at Stans Burger Shack in
uh Hanksville if they’re open when I get there get a milkshake and a burger and see
bear ears up there I think I am in the Bears ears National Monument right now actually I
think I passed into that down by Moki dugway clear sky today not much smoke I
think the wind turned we’ll see once we get further north also driving
through the Grand Gulch area never been in the grand Gulch but uh I’ve heard
it’s awesome Kane Gulch ranger station this is The Block that I walked cross maybe six years ago [Music] getting down to Hite now going to cross the Colorado River and then the dirty devil
River this is an area I’m very familiar with it’s a beautiful place crossing the Colorado River into Garfield County and then over to the dirty devil River and crossing the dirty devil River
spent a lot of time in the dirty devil River few years ago so that was the Hite Overlook one of my favorite
overlooks around here could look uh in through the dirty devil River and the block and all of
these places have been been backpacking over the block and in through the dirty devil River
and the Red benches and all of that stuff so that’s pretty cool place I’m heading up towards Hanksville through these amazing Canyons here on Highway 95 I drove through here on my first trip through
Utah and it kind of blew me away that time and since then it’s always been a favorite
of mine so I try to drive through here whenever I can so this is probably probably
my 10th or 15th time or something like that driving through the Hite area got
the Henry mountains coming up here looming over the area coming up on Hanksville
now got Factory butte out to the left there and the San Rafael as well behind
Hanksville over here you can see a Boulder Mountain and uh Capitol Reef here’s Hanksville let’s see if
Stans Berger Shack is still here it’s got to be the best
milkshakes in the world Stans Burger Shack going to get some gas
here going to keep heading north Stans is still here lots of boats filling up here that was way too much food for 11:30 that
milkshake is just insane got a coffee and uh a Hanksville t-shirt refilled gas I’m planning to head
to Evanston in Wyoming Hanksville is kind of Adventure Central for dirty devil River area and a lot of
people come through here with their boats from Lake Powell going to Salt Lake City and capitol
reef is around the corner and Canyonlands is uh kind of between here and Moab lot of stuff to do
here not to mention the San Rafael swell and all the off-roading and overlanding that goes goes on
over there like all these cars here probably been in the swell so I was thinking about going uh
through Capitol Reef but I think I’m going to go the fastest way I’ll get up to Yellowstone and
come back here on the way down. On to Yellowstone okay and we are in Wyoming didn’t see any sign
but the line on Google Maps set we crossed into Wyoming it is uh September 16th and I’m uh leaving Evanston
and going to head north now to Jackson there might be a big storm tomorrow and the day after so I
might have to hunker down somewhere so thinking about going over to Wapiti and
maybe camp in that area towards Cody seems to be the better weather on the Cody side so maybe I’ll
get to see some sites in Yellowstone today maybe not we’ll see how long it takes to get to Jackson
and how much people there are trying to get into the park the weather forecast might keep some
people away but uh most people that go to National Parks probably have this planned months ahead so
can’t wait to get up there again driving a new route today that I’ve never driven not that I’ve
driven a ton of routes up to Yellowstone just at the light turn left two different ones basically
totally different weather today it is 58° f which is probably below 15° C very comfortable a
nice morning up here in Wyoming going to head out on the Prairie I think going to go back and
forth between Utah and Wyoming on this road up here little bit of all colors on the trees so I’m uh 90 Miles from Jackson now and here
the Fall colors are really starting to pop I’m on U Highway 89 and going through
some beautiful hilly mountains here starting to get that Yellowstone vibe here in Alpine now just cross the Snake River going
to make a right here and uh head towards Jackson it’s tight in here and look at that French van at the
light turn left on us 191 North US 26 East continue on us 191 north for 7 miles
should have stayed here a little bit but it’s so crowded and uh it’s the last day
with decent weather so I think my route will go out to the east today towards um Cody
cuz the weather looks much better there towards the West uh West Yellowstone
and um Bozeman looks like it’s going to be raining for three days straight but the
Cody it looks pretty good this is a tourist Place probably a lot of nice stuff to
see but uh not for me not today I can’t tell you how much joy I’m feeling from
heading up into this place I almost had a feeling I would never see Yellowstone
again but here I am very close okay and I’m uh in Grand Teton
National Park that happened fast up here is the Grand Teton itself looks like there’s already some big storms looming over Yellowstone in front of us
I’m going to go through there anyway is got the first uh bison herd
coming up here lot of cars parked so that the first herd of bison exciting got
to stop and spend a little bit of time with that but uh the main place for that stuff
is Lamar Valley so I hope I’ll be there in a few days not really sure what’s going to
happen with the weather okay Moran Junction turn left we go to Yellowstone. in 1,000 ft slight right. got my pass highly recommended for anyone
who’s wanting to see more than One National Park here we go not a long line at
all today I’ve seen nightmare pictures of the line getting into the national
parks here wow colors now are amazing plenty of fire burn here right now I think we’re in
the Teton National Forest between the grand ton National
Park and Yellowstone National Park going to enter a Yellowstone pretty soon Snake River again and the entrance station
to Yellowstone National Park going to go down to Grant Village so finally Yellowstone Lake there’s going to be snow every day now for next
5 days or something or the possibility of snow quite a lot of weather so that’s um something
I’ve been looking at for a while now and it’s uh kind of going to be an is so I’m going to
head up um to Hayden Valley it’s 4:30 now and I have an idea about uh where I want to sleep
tonight it’s um towards Cody if things do not pan out I can uh Drive uh down to Walmart in Cody
and sleep there and also warmer down there than the weather that’s coming in tomorrow so let’s
go up to Hayden Valley and have a quick look I decided to take the detour to the West
thumb geyser Basin and it was awesome I’ve never really spent any time going to see these
geysers because uh the been so many people every time I’ve been here so that the parking lots
have been completely full there’s been no space at all but now there’s a little less people so
definitely seeing some cool stuff here now so all these thermal features is something I’ve just
seen at a distance most of the time the plan is still to head to Hayden Valley I don’t know what
time is going to be it’s 10 5 now and uh when the Sun goes down probably an hour or an hour and a
half that’s probably a good time to see wild life that’s a little taste of Hayden Valley they
saw a Grizzly out there but it was so far away way that there was no chance of filming it um
got about an hour and a half to drive down to where I’m hoping to find a place to park
for the night so it’s getting dark better hurry out of the park and find place
to sleep so this is the Yellowstone River pretty cool been to its headwaters and here it’s flowing
more Mighty and then flows even mightier Yellowstone General store closed looks like Pelican Creek well there was the first uh lightning and thunder and uh started raining so now
it’ll probably start pouring down forecast says a ton of rain
tomorrow several days another massive lightning I should have had
the camera running for that that was just insane going across the
sky here let’s see if I can catch something so just crossed out of the park so
now I’m in the Shoshone National Forest going to drop down a little bit further and see
if I can find a place to Camp or maybe I should go much further so I can be
certain that doesn’t start snowing on me starting got some big drops it is going off another one I think with with this weather I think the
safest thing is to go all the way down to Cody now it’s raining so hard I
can’t see a thing incredible can you believe it down here by Wapiti
the road is completely dry wow that is so incredible I can’t count how many
there’s another one can’t count count how many Lightnings I’ve had go off now must
be the most Lightnings I’ve ever seen in one kind of evening oh this road is going to
get pretty wet soon as well here it comes okay I missed the most fancy lightning it was right in
front of me here it’s just incredible the air is charged with electricity and dry Road Again here’s the moon it’s nearly full maybe we’re through it okay I had a pretty good night’s sleep here
uh down below Wapiti going to head down to Cody now and uh get some uh groceries fill
up some gas and wait out this next big storm that’s coming tonight looks really bad for
the next couple of days up in Yellowstone arriving in Cody the rodeo capital
of the world Walmart in Cody and it looks like there’s a lot of campers out
in the back lot here so this is a good place to hold up for the rainstorm that’s
coming tonight I bet probably a good 20 campers that have stayed overnight I
guess it’s uh 11:00 and I was thinking about staying here for a day or two and just
waiting out this storm but we can’t have that I’m already impatient after an hour so I’m
going to head towards the Big Horn Mountains just entered Big Horn National Forest this is pretty cool didn’t expect
a canyon like this to be [Music] honest so this is the Big Horn Scenic
byway and Scenic it is incredible way out in the back here you can see
the storms raging in Yellowstone I think clouds are getting darker
and darker and looks more and more stormy feels like we’re on top now what a spectacular Road this is just amazing
highly recommend driving this road if you got the possibility Granite Pass elevation 9,033 ft and we’re in Sheridan on County looks like a pretty
neat little historic town here [Music] continue on us6 West for 5 miles so I’m uh going across the
Southern Road over uh Powder River Pass I believe it’s called and
back to Cody tonight I think Powder River Pass 3,000 M I think has an
interesting little Arch maybe it’s a Natural Bridge can look across the open Plains to what
I think is the Absarokas or maybe the Wind Rivers storms over the Absarokas, Washakies for sure I’m pretty sure this is sorely needed started raining a lot now and in the mirrors I
cannot see the Big Horns any longer just turned black behind there it is Wednesday uh September
18th and it’s been a big storm through the night not a lot of uh rain but ton of wind and now
looks pretty bad up in Yellowstone but I’m going to head up there anyway and uh just see if I can
find some Wildlife this could be kind of a cool weather for that I think it’s kind of cold and um
gloomy so might be some Wildlife out so let’s get into the park again so if you know me you know
that I bring the bad weather and now there is a winter storm warning for Yellowstone I’m going
to drive up to the east entrance and and uh go into the park and see what happens winter storm
warning up here I have no idea if that includes uh a lot of snow or if it’s just like an be aware
situation alert the plan today is basically to get up through Hayden Valley and into Lamar Valley and
maybe I’ll circle around Cooke City and uh Chief Joseph Scenic byway which is one of my favorite
roads there’s uh fresh snow on the mountains over there that’s what I expected crazy wind the winds are so powerful
and there’s snow and all the around here looks like it’s storming pretty bad
up in Yellowstone but uh I’m just going to keep going and uh see what happens there’s one thing
I will not take any chances on and that’s the road conditions with these uh summer Tires
on the rental car that’s a no-go zone for me seems like there’s a lot of vehicles coming out
of the park so might not even be possible to get in or they’re fleeing some big stor down here
is 49° F what’s that uh 12° C 10 something like that and uh it’s going to get much colder as we
climb but it’s also 10:30 so it might warm up a little bit as the day grows older pretty cool
Drive here’s Elk Fork where I came out when uh we did that uh big uh tour through the greater
Yellowstone Wilderness Teton wilderness okay Moment of Truth is it closed because
of this winter storm or is it open East entrance looks open this is certainly not
what I expected but uh it’s cool getting up in the snow I guess
before the pass it’s 40° now and we are pretty much up at the pass and
we got snow all around here fun stuff this is what I live for beautiful 40° it’s uh 39 now definitely got to be
careful this is the high point though so should get better I wonder if
they’re salting the roads here I have no idea 39 so that’s like 3° C around there and it is dark in in Yellowstone Sylvan pass 8,530 ft
they got some real snow up here through the night 38° funny going from from uh 113° F
or 45° C in Death Valley to this uh snow scenery here in Yellowstone
in about a week that’s uh pretty crazy for back to 40° now and uh snow is gone for there’s a black wolf that’s a gray one well that was cool that was actually
my first wolf ever in the wild can you imagine it so awesome to see one
out here in Yellowstone Hayden Valley more wolves but far far away now it’s getting really wet and uncomfortable
outside with this rain here okay let’s go and see this thing here in my opinion this is the one you need
to see if you’re going to see any out of viewpoints here this Lower Falls,
Lookout Point I believe it’s called It’s amazing just incredible this is the
place to find the best view of the falls well this stuff will get you wet and I also
have rain pants I should have put them on but uh they’re at the bottom of my suitcase so I’m not going
to do that I think unless it stops raining. Heading over to Lamar Valley now after an hour in a construction
zone queue getting up in the snow zone now and uh don’t know how far I can go with
this car keep close eye on the snow on the road here it’s 39° fah
now so this could uh turn into snow anytime but as long as it’s
rain it’s all good there’s this Subaru up here that is going so slow it’s beautiful up here winter Yellowstone
in mid September guess you can get winter up here any time of year could have had
some amazing views here but it’s all cloudy here’s the parking for Mount Washburn so I’m
guessing this is probably the high point then or at least close to it yeah we’re
going down again it got down to 38° F so Tower Junction let’s continue up
the Lamar Valley here’s the fabulous uh Lamar Valley beautiful place so I’m going to head up to Cooke City and get some food it’s uh 4:30 I’m getting very hungry looks like bad weather up there a lot of
rain or snow or something there’s that thing soda bute here is the North Eastern entrance station leaving Yellowstone and we got four miles to cooke
City see if they can cook something up there Silver Gate Montana here’s Silver Gate nice Absarokas always impressive this mountain range and we’re in Cooke City and definitely
looks like somebody’s cooking something thing there’s smell of fire and it’s 42° cooke City on a rainy day seems like there’s no vacancy anywhere I think it’s the burger place to the
left here it’s going to be my goal pretty lousy weather for a
day in cooke City but that’s okay This is a fun wall in the bathroom going to head uh over to Chief Joseph
Scenic byway and uh depending on the weather and temperature over there I might
go across that and down towards Cody again or I might Camp somewhere on the way and come
back here to cooke city tomorrow to keep going and do my stuff in Yellowstone National Park
tomorrow the weather should be much better first going to climb up a little bit it’s 42°
height right here now let’s see how cold it gets so I really wanted to drive the Beartooth
Highway but that’s closed now because of this winter weather there’s a winter storm warning
in effect for this whole area but so far it’s only rain over here and it’s staying around the
lower 40s which is like I don’t know 5° C around there this area is only allowed uh hard sided
campers no tents so uh you need to have a something with a shell that’s because
of the grizzly is here and uh I think my car is probably recognized
as a hard sided camper still 41 I think this is as high as we go I think
uh Chief Joseph seeck byway the pass of over there is uh probably lower than this 40° here now and it’s raining so get a lot of questions from people
asking why I don’t get a Starlink in Norway and um I can see why people ask that question after
been driving around here because the cell service is so random and spotty and uh not very good the
cell service in Norway is many times better uh you can mostly find cell service all over the country
except for if you’re backpacking in the back country that’s why I want to use um cell service
for my data because it doesn’t uh pull any power from my batteries and it doesn’t um uh require
you to rig like a dish on the outside that could blow away and my blizzards and hurricanes that I
experience frequently so it kind of works really well to just use the phone as a hotspot with my
new plan that I just changed to in Norway I get uh 300 gb a month of full speed and then uh
I get uh a reduced speed of only 3 megabits after I’ve used 300 GB and I think uh
300 GB is about as much as I need when I upload my videos and stuff so that’s the
reason why I’m not getting a starlink in Norway because the cell reception is
actually really good so cooke city is in Montana but uh we’re crossing back to
Wyoming right now according to my GPS and it’s 40° look at these mountains and the fog so mysterious and cool it was so beautiful to go
through Yellowstone today in this kind of special weather most of the time you see photos taken on Sunshine days but this is just
a totally different atmosphere okay this is Chief Joseph Scenic byway
I think not sure if it starts right here but this is a beautiful drive but I found a
great campsite just behind here so I think I might turn around and take that I’m too tired to
get more impressions today so I found my camp for the night uh here in the mountains uh close
to the BearTooth highway it’s only 7:30 but I’m kind of exhausted from a long day of lot of
experiences so I’m going to go to sleep here in half an hour maybe read a little bit or something
basically this is my simple sleeping setup got my Western mountaineering ultralite sleeping
bag that I use everywhere and I’m in the back of the rental got my suitcase here got a cooler
here with my cell phone and my headlamp and a little bit of food stuff here and uh basically
just blocked off The View view from the front windows with my jacket and the lid of the suitcase
Mighty Simple Car camping setup got a little bottle for uh the nightly toiletry and then I got
some water over here a gallon gallon bottle over there I’m pretty much set to go anywhere as long
as it doesn’t get slippery and snowy on the road because those are summer Tires so darkness
is falling and I’m just going to say good night Sunrise from inside my car beautiful good morning had a peaceful night of uh long good
sleep here uh at the start of the chief Joseph’s Scenic byway I’m going to drive that road uh
back and forth today and probably drive down to grand prismatic Springs which is a feature
I always wanted to see so that’s my goal for today then I’m probably heading up north from
there and going out via West Yellowstone and up to Bozeman but I’m not going to be able
to do that in a day so I’ll find a place to Camp so that’s the plan for today weather
is starting to get a little bit better turned on the engine now it’s 7 30 and it looks like
it’s at least in the 40s so that’s a good start okay back in cooke City and I’m going to go to the visitor
center and see if I can get some internet down there worked the last time I was here 4
years ago what a cool little town this lets get some gas first kind of calm morning or it’s 11:30 actually now so calm midday not much going on here
today most people are probably in Yellowstone going to go to The Visitor Center
here and get some free Wi-Fi and take care of few thanks definitely better
weather today pretty cold still though that’s cooke City for now
great Visitor Center with the free Wi-Fi going to head into the park
again and go to grand prismatic spring that’s a feature I’ve always
wanted to see but never gotten to and we’re entering
Yellowstone National Park again Yellowstone is absolutely spectacular
today with the Fall colors and um and the snow covered mountains and uh the sun
is out and it’s just brilliant so glad I’m taking my time here just enjoying
this heading back back down the Lamar Valley now going to get over to the to the
spring area with grand prismatic spring there is just too much to see in this park and
I’m not even backpacking but what an incredible place it’s uh just a magic uh otherworldly thing
I’m so glad somebody decided to protect this area make it the first national park in the world I
think one thing I really admire about Americans and United States is the will to protect these
places it’s uh just so different from what I’m used to in Norway in Europe. In Norway
you can actually hunt in the national parks so there’s not really any Wildlife left in the Parks
but sheep and cows roam freely but uh the way National Park Service and the forest service and
everything works with protecting these national parks and national forests and wildernesses
and all of that it’s just kind of incredible! very little parking here in
relation to how popular this spot is well it looks like I cannot access
the trail to the Overlook from here wonder where that goes from it’s
like there’s people way over there cannot really see it at all from this angle
so going to try to get to that overlook going to go and see if I can find
the Overlook like the French van in front of me probably also thinking we
need to see this for real when there’s Sunshine so my advice here is don’t get
fooled into going to the like the normal parking lot and uh Boardwalk around grand
prismatic spring you don’t see anything so this uh Trail is uh 0.8 miles each way that is decent for an Overlook
I hope it’s worth it from this that was more like it that’s where you
need to go if you want to see the grand prismatic spring at the Overlook which is
uh mile and a half further south on the road good morning it’s been a cold night it
dropped below freezing it’s now 8:30 and uh car is showing 33° f which is 0° uh
C cold night I had to add a blanket to my sleeping bag and I started the vehicle couple
of times through night to get some heat into it so now I’m just waiting for it to heat up
again I’m going to make some cold coffee and have some breakfast and head north towards
Bosman I’m stealth camping right outside of West Yellowstone and uh had a little bit of
trouble finding a place yesterday because um it got dark but uh I found this Jeep road that
uh seemed like a good fit and there’s been no traffic through here at all so good spot even
got some cell service some 5G here so it’s uh September 20th it’s time to have a little
look in Montana fog is just Lifting for the morning looks like we’re going up a pass here Gallatin mountain range so this is Montana looks like the
Beartooth Highway is open I might circle around uh on the Northern side of Yellowstone
and drive across the Beartooth Highway and we just entered uh Yellowstone National Park
again so going to drive on the very edge of Yellowstone here now for the next 20 miles got to get some gas and coffee
here at Exon 3:41 in Montana was cheaper in Wyoming by a few
cents filled up with horse trailers here that’s pretty cool well those big horns were a bonus
great to see them this close they were not skittish at all they were
just standing by the road there so if you’re wondering about my history with
America and why I love uh the nature and the Wild and driving around here so much that’s because
I used to be a resident after many years of uh success in the music industry in Norway I
decided it was time to try my luck against uh the very best in the industry in Los Angeles
that’s kind of the hub for the music business in the world with all the best People based on my
Grammy nominations and stuff like that in Norway I was able to get an 01 Visa I spent many years in
the Western United States trying to build my music career further the closest I came to something
really really big was that I had three songs that uh I wrote and produced that uh Rihanna wanted to
hold or release for her next album uh that album isn’t out yet and I highly doubt that any of those
songs are still in the mix for for that album but it was a huge acknowledgement for me to have
these songs considered for Rihanna’s album but as 2019 2020 arrived everything kind of changed and
stopped and and the music business kind of just shut down the world was turned upside down and I
went back to Norway and I haven’t been here since then while I was out here I kind of rekindled my
joy for nature by discovering the amazing nature in the United States I traveled around Arizona
hiked a lot the Grand Canyon Utah Sierra Nevada greater Yellowstone a lot of places that really
captured my heart one thing I discovered while in the United States was the meaning of freedom
it’s something that Americans uh talk a lot about that we do not talk about in Europe and
Norway it’s freedom I don’t think it’s easy for Europeans to understand the meaning of the
American Freedom until you’ve been here and you understand what that is about and um why people
talk about it so much my understanding something I discovered is that you can do what you want
more or less and people are okay with that it’s not like you get those questions that you get in
Norway the first question you get in Norway is can you live of that if it’s anything but a 9 to4 or
7 to3 or whatever it is 9 to5 and uh that question does not come up in the United States it’s like
if you choose to live a different lifestyle everyone’s completely fine with that and it brings
out the best and the worst in people of course but also it it gives people the acknowledgement
that you’re okay to do as you want with your life and I had a few good friends uh here that
kind of uh made me discover these things about the freedom out here I’m on a long rant about that
here but uh it’s kind of exceptional compared to anywhere else I’ve been in the world and that is
the meaning of the American Freedom the land and the freedom to do what you want with your life
and not have too many interfere with that so compared to the set society that we have
in Europe and Norway it’s it’s something amazing included in this freedom is what
people call the land and it’s so hard to describe unless you’ve driven around here for
days and weeks and months and that is the land is just amazing there’s just something special
about all these places and people really care about the land and kind of love that whole
thing it’s a little explanation of why I’m doing this month long tour around uh the western
United States it’s because I have this love for the land and for the freedom and for the country
and there’s something special about this place to me you can find some of the videos from
the those days uh here on my channel some of the earlier videos from uh Escalante
and the Sierra and the mountains around La Mount Baldy San Gorgonio San Jacinto the Cascades
in Washington uh some other stuff so if you want to check out those those are kind
of my legacy content from when I was a resident originally I started this channel
to be a place to Showcase my music in some videos but it’s actually turned and the channel
has become the main thing and uh not the music any longer that’s why I’m not really promoting
the music and for those of you who find it it’s cool and uh if you want to listen to it you
can find it under the artist name Melantopia on any streaming service except YouTube music
but my YouTube channel has gotten way bigger than the music so that’s where my focus is
basically I guess that brings up a lot of questions for you so feel free to ask I might
not reply to everything thinks that are too personal or invade on my privacy but uh I’ll
try to answer as much as I can so I went to REI and with a lifelong membership got my new
hat here not seeing any of Bozeman I think I’m going to head east to Livingston and to
Red Lodge and over the Beartooth Highway it’s time to start on the Beartooth Highway
Beartooth pass is open so let’s go and enjoy look up there in front
that’s where we going [Music] all right seems like we’re getting
close to the summit here now imagine having the van here being able to
stay up here it’s 50° now so that’s not too bad up here at uh I think I think
we’re close to the summit and uh that means it should get down to around
freezing probably but that’s totally fine could probably Camp down
there I’m guessing whoa what a view you can see the I’m guessing it’s
the big horn mountains way out Back in Wyoming we’re getting the snow
from the other day this is why it was closed wow look at those Mountain views of the beartooths guess we’re not at the top still this here feels a lot
like Norway on so many levels way out there are the plains of Montana here’s the ski slope ski lift nice to the east thought this was the top but
it’s not there’s a ridge to the right there big one look out
into the desert way out there or desert I’m saying into the plains what
an incredible Road this a good camp spot okay guess we still got more Hills to climb no honestly I don’t think we
have anything as dramatic as this in [Music] Norway this is pretty insane actually
what a road and we’re going to get even higher here there’s so many turnouts
I want to stop at them all look at those Beartooths all right Summit 10,947 ft that was the summit of
Beartooth pass fantastic place I think this side is more pretty even though it’s
not as steep but it has more Scenic views I think well that was it absolutely spectacular I’m
so glad I got to do that highly recommend it Go and uh Drive the Beartooth Highway
if you can so now I’m going to head back to Cody it’s going to be a little
over an hour from here see you in Cody Good morning spent the night here at
Walmart in Cody again so now I’m going to head into Yellowstone for last time going to drive
up to the east entrance and go down south through Grand ton National Park and uh out towards dubo
also going to go around Brooks Lake place I’ve never been so I had several backpacking routes
planned from the Brooks Lake area but uh um it’s been a fire and everything’s been closed I want
to go up and see if things are open again [Music] I’ve uh driven through Yellowstone and I’m
uh approaching Moran Junction going to head east to dubois and uh take a look over that road
never driven past the turpine meadow Campground so I’m excited to see that road over there
over the pass U there’s a fire area so might hinder some views but then again it might not
so we’ll see fall is here it is September 21st I think okay Moran Junction still got the fire warnings here I’m excited for this road here this whole area kind of just uh
captured my heart when I was here four years ago now it’s even prettier with the full colors here’s the Buffalo Valley Road that we took
the last time I was here here’s the buffo fork there’s uh Mount Moran I
think there’s the grand Teton Brooks Lake this is what I’ve been looking for the sad
thing is that I don’t have time to go out and do anything here now and this uh fire closure
kind of uh hindered me from going out in the Teton Wilderness and also that uh cold front
the winter storm I do not have uh the winter clothes with me that I would
have preferred to have if I was to go out in a winter storm it’s just
simply too cold with the gear I had Brooks Lake uh campground it’s Saturday
night and I don’t think there’s more than one or two others here so going to
grab a site here and luckily I bought this beautiful alpaca blanket up in
Yellowstone so I’m going to Camp here can’t beat this [Music] so here’s my car camping setup got the seats down suitcase over there the Pea
bottle ready to go here and from the back side you can see got a couple of
hyperlight mountaineering pillows also is clothing storage got this blanket here
got a cooler my suitcase all my stuff and today I got this alpaca blanket for
my van that I’m going to use when it gets cold it’s going to get super cold so that’s
basically it simple bed it’s going to get super cold tonight
I’m really glad I got that alpaca blanket good morning well that was a terribly cold
night I was up uh around uh 6:30 and it was 29° Fahrenheit that’s like – 3 or 4° C there was
ice on everything both inside on the windows and outside on the vehicle so I had to turn the car on
a little bit to let it warm up the alpaca blanket definitely helped but it was still cold so today
is beautiful beautiful morning uh overlooking Brooks Lake here going to get some breakfast
get packed up and head towards Bubois and then probably down to Rawlins and then down to Medicine
Bow further on to Grand Junction and Utah again so this is basically what I
need to have a good drive a car and coffee most important meal of the day got the Laramie out here
never been to Laramie coming right up on the Fisher Towers now
looks pretty epic and we got a view of Castle Valley and all those famous
climbing butes out there as well that is awesome should have had
uh half a day to hike the Trails but I don’t have time for that okay I’m in uh Moab going to take a little
break here get some water in me and uh just have a quick look around maybe go to
the bookstore it’s always a fun place here back of beyond on Bookshop ch so I’m heading out to the moonscape
Overlook by Factory butte I guess it’s uh not a secret anymore a lot of overlanders
have shown this place so anyway I’m going to go out and uh Camp there for the night
I think it’s 6:00 now and uh the light is awesome really hot day today it’s been
close to 90° and uh I could really feel it wearing me down a little bit uh so
from 28° f to 90° F in a day n so that was the moonscape or Moon overview
a lot of people gathered at night to watch the sunset and a lot of people got here for
Sunrise so we going to head uh towards uh Capitol reef and escalate today and hoping to meet Jamal
tomorrow he is a day delayed from Salt Lake City but um it is really too hot to go out and do
any backpacking with 90° that’s uh definitely above my comfort zone and uh I don’t know what the
water situation is but we’ll have a chat about all of that when he gets down here but now I’m going
to head to Capital reef and uh over to Escalante it’s been over 4 years since I drove
this road but it just feels like yesterday only thing I could see that in Hanksville
there’s been a lot of development it’s gotten little bit more gentrified the old gas
station turned into a coffee shop stuff like that okay we’re entering Capital Reef National Park just going to drive it through today but
uh tomorrow I might be back here hiking with Jamal and we’re out through the reef this
is the back side pretty spectacular arriving in tTorrey, gonna get some gas and
coffee now before I drive across the incredible Highway 12 towards Escalante
one of my favorite roads in the world this is the Larb Hollow Overlook it’s a pretty
spectacular site let’s go and have a look at this so this whole area here is part of my
first meeting with Utah around 10 years ago came driving up this mountain here and it was dark
and we saw that we got up to almost 11,000 ft and we didn’t see any of these views and we car
camped down in capital reef and this was before the mass invasion of people so there were nobody
there probably car camped illegally at the rest Stop inside the national park but nobody came and
checked up on us or anything at that time so these scenes and this area is just kind of very
special to me been here countless times after that we’re at the summit and we are looking
over into Escalante River Country can actually see Monument Valley way
out there in the haze Cliff point so this is uh Boulder with a little
gas station and Country Store Boulder Mountain Lodge I stayed here once right to place welcome to the hogbacks
it’s quite spectacular Road don’t want to fall off a cliff here so I’m nearly in Escalante and the plan is to go
to Escalante Outfitters and have one of their famous pizzas if the line of people isn’t too long
looks like it’s very crowded out here on a wednesday day at the end of September just spoke with Jamal
and we’re going to meet up tomorrow in Capitol Reef maybe do a short day hike first and then
we’re going to head out on a backpacking trip on which I can only join for 2 days probably because
I need to head back and go to Vegas to catch my plane in a few days here we are the Adventure Town
of Escalante wonder what’s happened in four years here not too expensive the gas
here surprisingly Nemos is open again grocery store [Music] is open and here is Escalante Outfitters doesn’t look full today I’m uh meeting Jamal at the capitol
Reef going to spend a night at Fruita Campground the and then we’re going to head
out tomorrow on a backpacking trip uh around the Escalante River now and uh
this area just fills me up with peace I don’t know why but it’s just so calming
these red rocks and if you have some time not driving too fast through the scenery just
taking it all in Crossing the Escalante river calf Creek got a famous waterfall in here
but it looks like the trails are closed well looks like I got much better
light driving this way for filming so I’m just going to film The Hogbacks
going back towards Capitol Reef this is calf Creek heading in towards the Falls beautiful scenery in
this morning sun here you can see the hogbacks the road going up above there what a road out here is Boulder below Boulder
Mountain and above Boulder Creek okay oh those were the hogbacks pretty
spectacular scenery up there on that road I’m in Boulder now I’m going to go and
check out the Burr Trail let’s head down the Burr Trail I’ve been down this way a short ways before
in my old Prius but uh now I got higher clearance in this rental so going to try to make it all
the way out to the Eastern side of capital Reef look at these slick Rock
Hills here amazing [Music] up there is Boulder Mountain
where I came across yesterday look at these incredible Canyon
walls here going to drive down there that’s what it’s all about such amazing walls look like something
from an alien planet something like that looks like those buildings
in Barcelona look at all the the shapes and forms up here on top of the
canyon walls there just too much to take in so amazing that’s turtle the king
turtle Queen Turtle there’s a lizard watching over us this is just
crazy how cool is this Canyon here that’s going to be a famous Arch at one
point look at the size of that thing there’s a tiny or a huge Arch way up in the mountain so you got a little bit
of needles in here as well I’m blown away I really had
no idea this would be so awesome I can’t believe I haven’t driven this road before all right end of pavement let’s
see if it’s worth driving the whole Capital Reef uh Road entering Capital Reef pretty good road so far slow down w a stunning view absolutely gorgeous hope
there’s somewhere to stop here just can’t believe there hasn’t been made one single place to pull over
here and catch these amazing views could of course just stop in the road
but as soon as there’s somebody coming full speed up here like that van from Alaska
you’re just going to get complete covered dust look at this scenery this is some magic stuff that’s a massive Arch back there all right burr Trail switchbacks let’s
see if this is something that is possible with this 12% grades okay let’s try the burr switchbacks and see what happens it’s a legendary Road and um we’ll see that’s the first turn pretty steep drop off here beautiful beautiful beautiful what an impressive Road this is this is an adventure so I’m keeping uh the transmission in first gear just to break as much as
possible on the engine and driving around 10 m an hour and I think that’s it switchbacks are done cool so now to head out to the bullfrog Notom or Notom bullfrog Road and see
if I should drive out that way look at these Cliffs here it’s the back
side of the water pocket fold or the front side Maybe here’s the water pocket fold that we
just drove through in Capitol Reef National Park some really cool rock formations in there
if I drive this road it’s 29 mil and it’s probably the same going back but it’s paved
so going to go and check on the conditions on this road if it’s Sandy and uh clay then
it’s fine if it turns into a lot of uh trashy soil then it’s bad let me ask this person so
the guy from North Carolina said the road was good going this way so let’s do the 29 mil
soft sand road right now here’s that Arch from the back side I’m going to call it Lobster
Arch and here are the switchbacks I just came down going to follow the fold
the whole way down here I think awesome awesome awesome [Music] it is a bit Sandy here that can be difficult but that was okay so far oh look here
pavement didn’t expect that still got 15 miles left but I’ll take it what an absolutely stunning
drive this is and now I’m on pavement it’s pretty warm it’s around 90° 30° and got
15 miles left to go back to the main road and if it’s on pavement like this it’s all good
that road can mostly be driven in any car I think don’t even need high clearance I think
maybe one or two places on the switchbacks would be good to have high clearance but if you take it
really slow I don’t think it’s necessary [Music] and we are back on on Highway
24 time to head over to fruita Campground going to head over to fruita Campground
and uh see if Jamal has arrived it’s pretty good campsite right in the middle here with
the beautiful cliffs in the background so I’m here with Jamal you all know Jamal
and today we’re going to do something different I’m going to do a very short hike,
touristy hike, to the Hickman Bridge never been thereby first time yeah so
we’re just going to head up here and the Sun is going down and half an hour just going to try
to beat the sun basically should be beautiful in this light so let’s go all right let’s do
it so Grand wash
comes up in between us and that here’s the Hickman Bridge it’s one of the larger ones I’ve seen pretty cool I can’t reach it well the lens actually
isn’t wide enough really well that’s pretty nice it’s after Sunset so no funny lights but Hickman Bridge quite impressive this bridge it’s much bigger than
we imagined now we got a little bit of purple light that’s wow this is huge From Below take photo pretty impressive bridge I wonder what it’s like
when the sun comes through okay so we’re at uh Capitol Reef uh Visitor
Center and we just got our backpacking permits uh Jamal is staying out for five or six days
and I’m staying out for 2 days I have to go back and catch my plane in Las Vegas so I’m
doing um little loop with uh going up sulfur Canyon and down lower Spring Canyon it’s going
to get really hot the forecast is for 87° and it’s been up to 90° so going to be carrying a lot
of water and uh trying to stay cool it should be fun first time uh backpacking with Jamal so I’m
pretty excited for this so we’re driving around staging cars and uh making sure that we have a
car at each exit point and we’re going to start going up sulfur creek Canyon. so Jamal can you tell me a little bit about
what we’re doing. we are off on an adventure we are going up sulfur Creek and connecting
to Upper spring Canyon and then to lower Spring Canyon I guess some people call it an
extravaganza as in the Extravaganza Loop but we might do some other side stuff on the
way so it should be fun awesome. good to be here with you. likewise! our first time
hiking together actually oh you’re right yep it’s funny we’ve chatted so much
about it we’ve had beers together yep our first obstacle coming up going down fast Jamal is checking
depth so we’re not going up there but we think think we go up here it’s so slick oh yeah it’s doable but see it’s that
next it’s that middle section right above the fall that looks problematic right get back in the water scouting the possible route I’m going to go over here and look that was that was pretty difficult
that would have been hard solo well that was fun kind of reminded me of death
Hollow yeah kind of has that same feeling of you could slip and fall into the water
and it would be no fun but it might be fun yeah I don’t know yeah I I honestly I wasn’t going to
be too disappointed if I fell in just to cool down pretty awesome love it this is amazing so slick. when
you get that red sand oh yeah it’s a it’s a rare case that actually
walking in the water is less slick than the edges of the water that rock is so polished
that it’s slick when you’re out of the water this Creek does have a pretty good catch Basin
so I imagine it does get ripping and roaring at times good job that was fun do we need to get up there yeah may not have to
but it was starting to get kind of deep there it might be walkable but it starting
to get deep that’s going to be too deep Second waterfall it oh look at that that’s fun climb up that log right there in the middle yeah
yeah we’ll do the log in the middle so this is the bypass it’s uh yeah nothing to it not bad hold me along all right okay this could be interesting looks deep oh yes Jamal is scouting
scouting o maybe level is coming up oh you have a ledge there. I think so. oh yeah there’s something there. I don’t know that that’s walkable, might be. how deep, how deep does
it get? so going. it’s silty like I’m sinking probably 12 in in to my feet getting stuck under. that does that look like an adventure yep
except for the background sound sounds like we’re in an amusement par amusement park
okay I’m going to give this to you. that was uh quite tricky not tricky but it was the
water was high. awesome though. real Adventure. that’s pretty nice these hand holds help a lot
yeah could be hard without that right so up here is The goosenecks
Overlook and you can maybe see some people up there I have actually been
to that Viewpoint like six s eight years ago maybe I’ll find a picture
from that and post it here in the video so we got to our exit Canyon or exit route Out
of This Magnificent Place sulfur Creek Canyon okay we’re
at Chimney Rock in the road a little reminder hey it’s Mr Shadow it’s a little
short it’s not quite time for him to be out full we’re heading over a pass
chimney pass or something don’t know if it’s called chimney pass
I’ll call it that to get into Spring Canyon it’s a beautiful evening sun has gone down and we’re going
down towards Spring Canyon in the wash. this is easy walking but we’re pretty tired now. these white walls in front of us here is Spring
Canyon that was a long 2 miles and it’s dark so we’re in Spring Canyon now I’m guessing it’s
getting closer to 8 and we have half a mile to go to Camp by the spring according to Jamal and
I don’t think I’m going to film more till we get there because it is dark okay we found our camp
in darkness and it is completely dark now so not going to film anything more today but uh it’s been
a long day uh very tired and ready to get camp set up what
are you doing over the coming 5 six days well I am headed in Cross Country into the northern part of
Capitol Reef I’m going to go up this route that I dubbed Jamal’s crack it’s just kind of a weakness
in the Navajo standstone Lair get up to the top of the Mesa and then I’m going to head Northwest
to some really cool areas that I uh stumbled up on years ago there’s a few arches back there and
a few that I saw from a distance that I want to get a closer look at so that’s my plan and then
I hope to find a way to drop back into the canyon and come back by this very spot and then go down
lower Spring Canyon so what are you expecting so while Jamal is going up on the reef I
am going uh down Spring Canyon lower Spring Canyon and that should be awesome from our
campsite it’s around 7 and 1/2 miles through the Canon It is going to be super warm, the forecast is in the ’90s hoping that
this Canyon provides some shade as I go down so so according to Jamal’s recording we
hiked uh 12.9 or 13 Mi yesterday and it was a long day but we started late at noon and we were
in Camp uh around 8 8:30 maybe should be getting to a dryfall two Dry
Falls where I need to take a high route bypass with a lot of exposure apparently and
I’m pretty sure that’s coming up right down here over here’s apparently the dryfall
yeah that is way too steep there’s a pool of water there and there’s another
drold over there with a pool of water and this is impassible from here
so got to get up on the trail here those are some blue skies up there there’s supposed to be a section with a
lot of exposure guessing it’s coming up over here I’m guessing this is the portion they mean such good conditions
now that it’s not problem at all [Applause] well thinking this is actually
the portion exposer there yeah this section here would have been no fun if
it was wet or snowy or icy coming through here it’s kind of uh Steep and the exposure is pretty
significant so I can understand that portion having a warning on the route description uh
looks like there might be a little bit more here if this gets wet it kind of
turns into clay and that’s uh just not as fun but the exposure here is not as bad it’s
uh more of a slide down to the bottom Got this section done. Be careful if it’s wet so I just broke the glass
on my camera I don’t know if it’s showing in the image but that’s kind of a bummer such huge walls pretty cool Pinnacle there it’s definitely getting warmer and I am
super happy for all the Shaded Canyon areas here so kind of working my way
in and out of the Shadow and uh kind of gives me a few breaks every now
and then from the heat of the Sun walls like these are so cool love it it is getting incredibly hot as soon as you’re
out in the sun it’s just baking oven and also the Sun that is hitting these walls is uh heating
up the walls so that turns into a baking oven so pretty hot stuff now it’s definitely the time
of day when things starts heating up for real that’s a serious undercut this is a giant of an undercut okay I’m at the Fremont River just
going to cross put on my Crocs and cross down here I think and then it’s
just a little road walk to to the car that’s it was only like a little bit below knee
high and uh very easy this kind of marks the end of my trip just going to walk up to the
car now and uh get changed get cleaned up a little bit and we’ll see where I’m heading to
Next uh got uh another day before my flight so I’m going to sleep around the area here I
think just wanted to thank uh Jamal Green for inviting me and planning this trip and it was
really awesome love Capitol Reef after this such an awesome place so thank you so much
Jamal you need to go and check out Jamal’s uh YouTube channel it’s uh Across Utah so after driving a little bit
it’s uh 91 92° uh Fahrenheit so that’s the Heat so it’s my last day here before I
have to take my flight out of uh Vegas and I’m heading into Bryce Canyon National
Park been in Bryce many many times and it’s kind of uh the one place that blew my mind
the most I think it’s the last day for me out here I’m driving
across the Arizona strip my time here in the United States has come to an end for this
time this time I’m not a resident any longer so it’s a temporary visit but this visit has
really rekindled my love for the American West the nature out here the vastness and the openness
and the freedom that I talked about earlier in this video it’s been amazing so now it’s uh time
for me to head back to Norway and start thinking about storms and winter and the Arctic winter
blizzards snow storms massive snow snowfalls freezing temperatures and all of that stuff so
time to get back to Van life to enjoy the winter that I love so much so the contrasts I had 113°
f in Death Valley I had 28° f up in the medicine bow mountains and um now I’m going to go
back to have an Arctic winter in my van again this has basically been my American story
I hope you learned a little bit more about why I have such a close connection with America
and why I feel it’s my second home I will probably never return as a resident but uh I will
definitely be back more often so now it’s back to Vegas to catch the plane I’m having one night
at a hotel and then uh long travel with two layovers which is kind of a bummer but it is what
it is but um totally worth it thanks so much for watching and I’ll see you later my friends in the
van in a snowstorm or in a blizzard in the Arctic Want to see more? Have a look at this!

I really appreciate all your kind comments and I am really grateful to all of you!
Very interesting and visually stunning video. I love the mood you create with the scenery, it is meditative to watch with the music in it.
Wow! By far this is my favorite video! Great everything! Had a rough day so spent the day watching this and I sure feel a little better now! It was good to get to know you as well and learn some things! Love these that are several hours long! Thanks for a great trip!
So cool revisiting these areas with your wonderful videos, and without having to go through airport security! I was out there when you were there.
Born and raised in the US of European parents, the question growing up was always, "How will you live? Can you live off that? What will you do for food and shelter!?" LOL. I suppose it depends upon where you are in the US and to whom you were born. But, yes, the western United States is the visual descrption of "freedom" for sure.
You are living a remarkable life. And your YouTube channel is wonderful. Your choice of music, your talent for photography, and your command of the language is amazing. My day is complete when I have viewed a piece of your adventures.
The Norwegian Xplorer: As you drove through Death Valley and the temperature kept climbing I was reminded of the summer here in Gresham, my home town when we had an extreme heat wave. OUR daily temperature hit 116 degrees! This was the outside temperature and our 4th story indoor apartment without AC exceeded this temperature. WE could no longer stay in our unit as it exceeded 120 degrees. WE were so greatful to our church, our pastor who literally allowed us to camp at church in one of the Sabbath school rooms. AS the church had air conditioning. He brought in miniture refridgerators for our food. WE brought sheets/blankets and pillows and slept on the pews and during the day used the free wifi–internet to watch programs on YOUTUBE, played games and read books. WE had several days in a row with high temperatures in the 110's to 116–and so we camped out there for several nights/days. It saved our lives. WE had some 20 people die in our city from heat related illnesses being trapped in hot houses and apartments. It was hot everywhere that summer, in death Valley it was 141 degrees and 121 in Las Vegas!
AS for me, I love the snow and the cold. WE have had temperatures in our City as low as -20 windchill with snow and ice on the ground in the past. But not recently. WE are expecting snow tomorrow! but it might not stay. I love the snow.
I am excited to watch this wonderful long, long video of your travels! Especially if is snows for 2 days! YAY! Hugs and blessings, Michelle Reed, Gresham Oregon USA
Superb this7 hours NX really enjoyed this adventure
Whitney amazing and Burr Trail incredible
It shows how incredible the US is have to go incredible tranquility
Back to blizzards next week ! Dave UK
I just finished watching this truly epic story of your US tour. The photography was amazing and along with your comments and the beautiful music it is probably the best video I have ever watched. Thank you for the hours of editing you put into this and I look forward to watching your Arctic tours. You are a very blessed and talented person.
The two Las Vegas bands that made it, The Killer and Panic at the Disco, I prefer Panic. Well, well, you should have dropped by. You were taking 215 to get to the 95. I got to go up to Beatty. The brothel has a gift shop and that's the only place I found the Green Alien cookie jars for sale, yup, in a Brothel! This was a wonderful video.
I found it fascinating that you come from a music background and when COVID kicked off you found yourself in nature can I ask are we listening to your music in some of your videos it feels like we are some of the soundtracks are amazing
My wife and I really enjoy your channel. It would be great if you could add the dates to your itinerary.
Jarl , Absolutely awesome compilation of your US trip. Stunning video and a great story to go with it.
Again…. Absolutely Incredible !!
Stay Safe My Friend
I recently joined your channel and I'm really happy I did.
Your videos are fantastic. I've watched several of them in Norway, a country I dream of going to. I'm French.
I'm currently watching your video and I'm blown away by the quality of your videos. The American landscapes are magnificent!!
Thank you so much for sharing your travels and adventures with us; it's truly amazing!! 💚💚💛💛
Are you from América or Norwegian ?
Are you from América or Norwegian ?
This is a great video I actually went to Montana for the first time on September 7 and was in the western parts near the Idaho border and lake Pend Orielle went to the river that the Scene from the Revenant was filmed on. I see you brought your reindeer hat to America. Cheers my friend
Thank you, that was a wonderful journey. Again your cinematography, music and overall vibe are second to none.
What a fantastic adventure! It was very cool to know a little bit more about Jarl, the Norwegian Xplorer. I imagine it’s your music we listen with your videos 👍🏻
You drove by the place where young military guy Charles Hall met extraterrestrials he called Tall Whites when he was stationed there. He wrote it all in his books called Millenial Hospitality. There are YouTube videos of his interviews. He is a retired physicist now. I’ve also seen interviews of people who said they played with Tall White children when they were kids near the base.
That was beautiful! I get what you say about the freedom to live your life the way you want to. I live in the Netherlands.. and I suppose the Netherlands is like Norway when it comes to work.. living like people expect you to live. Abide by society's law. I work.. I take care of my elderly mother. Wich I do with love by the way. But I feel life is passing by.. I want to do.. experience so much more before my time is up. Sounds a bit dramatic perhaps. I don't want to sound like that.. but I am hoping that I will get to have the chance to live free. Not to be what society expects me to be. Well.. this was my rant😂. I just discoverd your channel a couple of weeks ago.. and I enjoy it a lot. Almost every night I will watch a blizzard episode😊. You Live your life on you're terms.. I love it. Having said that.. be safe❤
Wow, what an epic video! Managed to watch it in 2 parts!
Too much content to comment on, but the scenery was just magnificent. The rock formations in Utah/Arizona are unbelievable. On camera, one cannot grasp the sheer scale, it is all so vast. Tower Butte rises some 2,600m (5,200ft) and yet it pales in comparison to its surroundings.
Yellowstone, well, what can one say? Simply breathtaking, as was route 90, the road winding through the canyons of rock. The red rock contrasting against the deep blue sky. Sensational
It was nice to learn a little bit more about you, too, and how you ended up as an explorer!
Thank you for taking us on this extraordinary journey with you. Life is short. Embrace the freedom to choose how you wish to live it and above all, do what makes you happy and brings warmth to your heart.
Stay safe, my friend.
🇳🇴 🇦🇺
I think you did the perfect thing in driving out of the gravel road that night in case it flooded. Better to be safe than sorry.
Great video…I've done that trip and plan on doing a version of it again next year. Closer to my neck of the woods, Crater Lake is recommended. 👍🏽
Need to split the video into seven 1-hour parts: part 1, part 2, etc. Hard to do searches for scenes on long ones.
58:00 Mind-blowing beautiful right here. Someday!
Oh cool, glad you made a video to explain your American history. Just starting to watch this, am very interested so far. I played in bands throughout the 80s and 90’s, partied pretty hard. (We opened for Kix and I have music on Soundcloud). but now I work as Democratic activist. It will probably take me a while to watch this, we have important election coming up here soon in Virginia. Hope all is well with you my friend. ✌️
That car he’s in has an electric short ! The back interior light shouldn’t be on, unless he’s left the interior light on? I will mention I’m ocd about that kinda stuff!
Whoa! How did I miss this one, Jarl? 10 months ago? 😏Haven’t been to the northwest as yet. NE SE SW Midwest, yes. Best tourism advert I’ve seen. Spectacular photography!! 👏👏 I chuckled when I saw the clips of Yellowstone mountains. The lightbulb came on when I realized where the name came from. Never occurred to me. 😌 Have finished the video yet – half way through. Can’t wait to get back to it.
Almost done watching this epic segment! Great observations, beautiful observation points and true adventure with a true friend, it really would be hard without that. Thank you for capturing it all so vividly and keep on truckin'!
Oh wow!, what a beautiful sight. Thanks for another wow video❤❤❤absolutely incredibly beautifull 😍 ❤️ ♥️ 💕
