🎡 ノーフォーク郡フェア 2025:マイホームタウンフェアの乗り物、食べ物、家畜

[Music] Good day everyone and welcome to Adventures with Parker. Today we are back at the Norol County Fair 2025. This is a fair that I’ve been going to every year since I was a kid. Actually, this is the seventh or eighth time that I’ve featured it on the channel. So, if you’ve uh if you’ve seen my past videos, you kind of know what it’s all about. But this fair is one of the largest fairs in southwestern Ontario. There’s a big midway. There’s lots of agricultural displays. There’s commercial vendors. There’s home craft exhibitions. There’s games. There’s food. There’s everything you would want in a fair. There there’s so much to do here. There’s so much fun. And as I’ve said in basically every other one of my fair vlogs, this is a fair that is very close to my heart. Not only because I’ve been coming here year after year since I was a kid, but because this is my home county fair. Like I no longer live in Noral County. I’m off doing other things, but it is an excuse that draws me home. And of course, it always falls on Thanksgiving weekend as well. So, I’m always able to see family around this time and just reconnect with where I grew up. And it is something that brings me a lot of pride. I am a small town guy at heart. So, yeah, coming back to the fair just fills me with a lot of warm fuzzies and it’s just fun. So there there’s that part as well. Yeah. Uh today I’m just going to be exploring the fair, sharing everything that I experienced today. Of course, having done a version of this video every year for the past seven or eight years. It’s always hard to find like an angle to make it unique, but you know, there’s always new stuff that comes through the fair every year. There’s always new things that catch my interest. So yeah, who knows what we’re going to get up to. Come along for the ride and we’ll uh we’ll see where the day takes us. So without any further ado, let the North County Fair adventures begin. [Music] All right, before we get into today’s video, I have a very important announcement because Movember is back. So, for those of you who haven’t heard of this, Movember is the leading charity that works to change the face of men’s health. They provide funds, resources, education, and support in the areas of men’s health, mental health, and suicide prevention. This is a cause that is very near and dear to my heart. And this year, my goal is to raise $500 in support of this important cause. Any amount that you’re able to spare goes a long way. So, if you’re able to support me, you are awesome. I’ll have the link to my Mo page up on the screen as well as down in the description. And if not, I get it. Money is really tight for everyone right now. Just sharing my campaign can go a long way in making a difference. And to everyone who has already donated, I appreciate you so much. Thank you for helping me to reach this goal. And now on with the show. I arrived at the fair at kind of a bad time because as soon as I got through the gates, it started to pour. Thankfully, I was just in time for the llama costume contest. So, I made a beline for the livestock show ring to catch the show and escape the elements. Birthday girl and let’s welcome our fairies from the fairy garden and bring sunshine everywhere they go. The manager here [Music] and here comes [Applause] cousin aunt and wife Adam to the North County Fair. Let us welcome our beautiful peacocks to the North County Fair. Balleras have come out to play. [Applause] Let’s celebrate St. Patrick’s Day a little early. Welcome our St. Patrick’s fans to the fair. Rubber dubdub soap and a bathtub. Welcome to the fair. [Applause] Let’s be social with social media. [Applause] Black cat and her witch cooking up some spell. The farmer and the turkey just in time for Thanksgiving presents. They are pleasant but but not the elf on the shelf [Applause] to the bear today. [Applause] both and the st marshmallow man have just So we have all the llamas in the ring now and the judges are just going around looking at each one and they’re judging on things like the cohesion of the theme, the coverage of the llama, like whether the costume covers the llama from head to toe and also uh the skill of the handler, whether they’re able to keep the llama’s calm during this process and um you know when they walk out if they have a good handle on them. So all those things factor into their final score. I have pulled my seven into the center. I am going to start at seventh place and we’re going to work our way up to first. In seventh place, number 195, that would be our marshall. [Applause] In sixth place, number 189. In fifth place, number 146, Nightmare Before Christmas. In fourth place, number 133. In third place, number 123, our chef. In second place, men and fly. And in first place, cousin it is. [Applause] All right. And there’s our people’s choice winner for this year. Thank you everybody. This has been great. You guys look wonderful. Thank you for a great job. I always love the llama costume contest. It is so cool to see the creativity of these kids. And I mean it’s also great to see the work of the uh of the 4 club cuz that’s who puts on that particular contest. So 4 is an organization that they uh they teach kids farm skills and life skills and all that good stuff. And one of those things that they do is uh animal handling. So this is just one way that they can show off the hard work that they’ve been doing. Anyways, uh because I went to the llama show right away to get out of the rain, I am very hungry. It is too far past lunchtime for my uh for my liking. So, I’m going to walk along this food area, see if I can find something good, and yeah, have a have some lunch before it gets too late. [Music] [Music] All right, so I ended up going to the Sea Shack and I got myself a two-piece perch meal. I’m a huge fan of perch. I mean, Noral County is right on the shores of Lake Erie, so perch is a real big thing around here. And I don’t think I’ve seen the scoo at the fair before. If I did, I don’t remember them. So yeah, I thought I’d try something new for today. It’s great. Yeah, that was one of the best fair meals that I’ve had in a while. So if you’re a fan of fish and chips, I would highly recommend getting some food from the Sea Shack. After lunch, I returned to the livestock show ring for even more llama fun. This time for the llama obstacle course. [Music] [Music] So, we already saw the llama costume contest and the obstacle course, but now we’re going to move on into the cattle barn to see some of the livestock exhibitions. So, they have things like cows and pigs and a bunch of other animals in here. So, let’s check it out. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Then over here we have our last main livestock building and that’s the poultry barn. And of course, this is where you’ll find chickens, roosters, ducks, geese, and rabbits. [Music] Hello. [Music] Right up to you. [Music] [Music] This is this year’s champion turkey. Huge guy here. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Okay, our last little bit of uh exhibition here is the agriculture building which is located right underneath the grand stands. And here’s where you’ll find all the competitions for basically non- livivestock agriculture. So, we got some hay and grass clumps here, stocks of corn. In a minute, we’re going to go see the giant pumpkin. So, yeah, all around the fair is just a really big celebration of the agriculture that we have here in Norol County. It’s something that we are very proud of. And it’s always great to come here and see it all on display. And they have everything from house plants to uh I think what’s this category? This is a dish garden. Yeah. So there’s just lots of different creative ways that these things are being displayed and uh the work that goes into it too is just phenomenal. You know, people spend lots of time growing these plants, making sure they’re presented in this particular way. So yeah, it it’s just a celebration of [Music] You’re cute, too. I’ve been stamped. Look, Charlie Brown. It’s the great pumpkin. This one is 1,742 lbs. I feel like that’s one of the bigger ones that we’ve had in a while. I got to double check to see what they were in previous years. But in any case, it’s huge. It’s always crazy how big these pumpkins get, too. I’m really wonder how they get them in here, too. Like, these uh can’t be easy to move. And we also have the largest squash coming in at 1,046 lb. That is one big cord. [Music] You know, I really love checking out the agricultural exhibits here. Agriculture is such a huge part of the identity of Norfolk. It’s something that really defines us and it’s something that we’re really really proud of. So, uh, to see all the hard work of these, uh, exhibitors, like the, uh, the work that goes into growing these things, the work that goes into caring for pretty animals, putting together displays, it’s just really a celebration of what makes Norfol Norol. And of course, even though I grew up in the towns and I uh, I don’t live in the county anymore, it’s just something that I always love coming back to and seeing it. Just it just makes me feel at home. All that said, we have gone too long without riding anything here. The fair is well known for its awesome midway. All the rides here are provided by world’s finest shows. And even though it’s a lot of the same stuff that comes back every year, all of the rides are still pretty fun. And it’s a pretty sizable midway, too. You know, for how small Norfolk is, we do provide a pretty big and well-rounded fair. But yeah, I’m ready. Let’s get on some rides. So, for the midway rides, uh you can purchase a package of tickets. Wristbands are not available on site. I don’t think they are anyways. No. Uh for some reason, this fair is one where you’ve had to buy the wristband in advance. Thankfully, I was able to get my family to do that for me. So, I got myself a wristband, which means I can get unlimited rides today. And this year, it looks like it’s an RFID tag. Usually, it’s just a paper bracelet that you get, but I guess we’re taking a more modern route here in 2025. Heat. Heat. N. [Music] with a few fingers. [Music] [Applause] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] Here [Music] at Norquo County Fair, we’re going to use a melting machine to do our melting demonstration. It is a manual melting machine which means that farmer Anna’s going to have to bend down to put it on and bend down to take it off. It has a vacuum pump and vacuum suction. So, it’s like a a vacuum suction. And she’s going to attach the four inflations to the cows for other teeth, on the collar. It will scan. It will send all the information about the tow. We got some really cool technology. Okay, we got our vacuum pump working and our hands attached to our manual machine. Look at the pipeline. Very clear pipeline there. I want you to say who you see now. All right, there it is. In the barn, the milk travels through a series of pipes in the barn. It goes to the filter and the filter collects any dust, dirt, or particle before it enters the bulb tank. And then her Anna is going to do our last step. So we use a teeth dipper again and she’s going to dip ID score teeth. It’s going to seal her teeth. So from dirt or bacteria go in the teeth. Then then she can go back out to the barn or she can go out to pasture. So that is how you melt a cow. All right. And I’ll set this up if I go to somebody’s place and they’ve got say 10 or more sheep. I find it worthwhile to set it up for that. They’ve only got a few sheep or if I’m cheering out packs and bombers, I’m going to use this machine. It’s kind of an all in one. So bottom here, this plugs in and this is what’s going to cut the wall. Uh this doesn’t have blades on it right now, but if it did, it kind of looked like this a little bit. But yeah, like I said, this is what I’m going to use for alpaca. The llamas are only a few sheep. Turns on this cable inside turns around really quickly and it drives the gears and it causes our gear to go back and forth to cut the wool. Um the blades once they’re on and I turn it on, they go back and forth and they’ll go back and forth really really quickly and that’s what’s going to cut the wool. Wool it’s fairly light and bumpy. So you want to shear the sheep at least once a year. There are some breeds that require more often twice a year now. Uh but the full coat of wool, I think even a sheep is going to be fine in the summertime just because still. So maybe you’ve got a cat or a dog at home, you have to brush out the mats and head. Think of that kind of for a sheep on the whole body starts to melt. So 2 years worth of wool or if they start getting really dirty and full of birds just packs together and then the animals going to get too hot to health problems. So that’s why we eat shares once a year. Like I said, cheering doesn’t hurt the animal, but I want them to sit nice and still for me. I want to be able to control the animal. So I want them on their bum for sharing. So there’s a couple ways you can do that. You can lift up on the head, push down on the back end. It doesn’t hurt them. And you can stretch them out as you need to. That way the skin stays tight to the body and it doesn’t rise up. So, the way I normally like to flip them, bring them down is I’ll either grab the leg or underneath the body and I lift them up down against my body. Nice and easy. Like I said, it doesn’t hurt them. This way, full control of the animal. So, I’ll start by giving her a little bit of a hook. This doesn’t hurt them. You just want to take some of the nail off. It’s I always say to people if you’ve got that don’t like cheap goats on pack lavas, there’s nothing wrong with taking a lot of small little steps until you’re comfortable. Um I might trim thousands of feet a year. So I just generally know where I want to cut every time. And as you can see, just cutting the wool is not cutting the sheep at all. Doesn’t hurt. Wow. And when I shear, I want to shear the belly wool first. Uh, as I mentioned, there’s not much of a mark in the wool, but if you are going to try and find a hole for it, typically you can you discard the belly wiest from it laying down. See, every time I’m moving around, I’m keeping it so I can get the skin stretched out. And when I feel like it’s going to start bunching up, that’s when I bring my hand down. I’m going to start holding the skin tight. She works with her friends. You guys can tell. I’m going to let her in. I’ll be right back. All right. One of my other favorite exhibitions to check out here at the fair is the home craft building. There’s both adult competitions and junior competitions in the basement. We’ll check out both of them, but it’s basically just exhibitions and contests of like quilting and there’s artwork, uh, culinary arts and everything in between. It’s really quite cool. [Music] So, it’s got to be a continuous loop. So, you you tape one end down. You do your warp. You tie the two the last and the first together. So that you got one big view. Oh, I don’t think I’ve seen stained glass in the other years. This is really cool to see. We have the big fox one there. We also have this smaller art piece with the flower. That’s cool. Yeah. I don’t know if that’s a new category or just something I haven’t seen in a while. Also got lots of woodwork here from lamps to bowls to clocks to little miniature houses. And they even got a little uh band stand this here like a a true gazebo. And like I said, this is also where you’re going to find the quilting ranging from uh big quilts and blankets to needle work and clothing. And it’s crazy to think cuz this looks so good. And it’s all handmade. [Music] And when you say they have everything, they really do have everything. Cuz up here we have some Lego figures. And right below that we have little Christmas tree cakes. Are they brownies? Cakes. Cakes. [Music] You can also buy 5050 tickets in person there. [Music] Filming the home craft stuff is so hard cuz I want to show everything on camera because obviously every single piece had so much that went behind it, so much planning and work and skill and talent, but I can only really show one or two things that just catch my eye. But um me not showing something on camera, that’s no indication of my taste or the quality of these things. It’s just just a fact of how this filming works. But uh anyways, we are moving downstairs to the junior competitions. Same kind of deal as what we saw upstairs, but of course this is all done by the kiddos in the county. And actually back in the day, I submitted some things too cuz sometimes teachers would pick their whole class to submit something or you can submit it individually. So uh yeah, we like to support the young artists as well as the old Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] [Music] Just in case you’re not here in Canada, we have hockey arena themed cakes. That is so freaking adorable. Oh, this one’s even 3D. It’s got some uh some goalie nets on the end. Catch me all life for me is a river boat and a sea watching the sun go down. Hey buddy, rock and roll man with a reaper in my hand. Look at that wheel going for me. Yeah. Sailing away from my heart on a river boat. All right. [Music] 30 minutes. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] Okay, this is cool. So this is well I knew the coaster as the Cobra coaster and it is pretty iconic in my coaster enthusiast lore because it is my first ever credit this coaster right here. But this year they give it a new facade and a new name. Like it used to be Cobra, now it’s Viper. Doesn’t make sense cuz the train is literally still a Cobra. They also repainted the track by the looks of it. So yeah, kind of cool to see that this ride is still kicking and that it’s got a fresh new look for this year. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Applause] [Music] You have to go back. [Music] Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] Okay, one last food item here before I go. I actually didn’t eat a lot today. I guess I only had the uh fish earlier and I got some ice cream at one point. But anyways, final meal today is this uh pizza cone. They come in a few different flavors. I decided to get the pineapple punch, which is just the uh Hawaiian flavored pizza. And it’s pretty good. It just tastes like a normal pizza, but it’s kind of nice with the cone. It makes it easier to carry and whatnot. So, cool concept. I like it. [Music] You can make more noise than that. Do you want to go faster? [Applause] Take good job. Hang on. We’re going to pump it up. Get up. Go. Keep going. [Music] All right. And that is going to do it for my time here at the Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show 2025. Overall, like I always have such a fun time at the fair. Yes, it is the same stuff year after year. There’s really not a whole lot that changes, but it’s still fun to come back. And like I said, it’s more of a matter of connecting with my community and my hometown and where I grew up. That’s what brings me in. And truly, it is one of the better fairs in the area. Like, I think the only fairs in Ontario that I can think of that surpass it might be the Western Fair in London and uh the CN in Toronto, of course. But other than that, like this is the next best fair and that’s impressive given that we are such a small community, but you know what they say, small community, big heart. But yeah, um I guess I didn’t really talk about the commercial buildings or shoot a whole lot in there. I did walk through real quick. I didn’t buy anything like I I I rarely ever do. I did grab a coffee actually. That’s the one thing I did do. There’s this uh little booth called the Belching Barista. I believe they’re a coffee shop based in Waterford. So that’s the only thing I grabbed. I don’t know. Like I’ i’ve shown off the commercial buildings in other years and it’s always the same stuff over and over again. I just didn’t feel like there’s a need to film it again. And then I didn’t really talk about my experience with the rides. The rides are really good. Of course, it is the world’s finest shows Midway. They’re actually Midway Company that’s based here at the fairgrounds. So in the offseason, all the rides get stored in this building here. So that’s really cool that this is one of the last festivals that they do of the year and then it’s kind of like their homecoming. But yeah, nothing new. Um, but the highlights of course are always cannonball and fireball for me, of course, because of the most snowing. I also got in the ferris wheel. I don’t always do the ferris wheel because as a single rider, uh, sometimes it makes it difficult to pair up, but I was able to take a spin and it was gorgeous. I went on at sunset and yeah, absolutely loved it. Um, but yeah, that is it for my day at the fair.
