There was a slight delay, but I arrived in Hanoi without any problems. From arrival to immigration and baggage claim, it took about 30 minutes. It was surprisingly quick. I arrived in Hanoi at night. So, I asked the hotel to arrange a taxi. The meeting point is around Pillar 10. My driver was waiting for me, but he wasn’t there. He was about 20 minutes late. It seemed like it was busy because it was a public holiday. I was a little worried. However, the hotel staff figured out the situation and sent me a direct message. I’m grateful. The hotel staff came to pick me up. It’s true, this place is hard to find. I’m very grateful. This hotel is my base for the day. It’s located in an alley a little ways back from the busy streets of the Old Quarter. I was debating which hotel to choose, but I’m glad I chose this one! It has a nice atmosphere and is very clean. Good morning. It’s the morning of my second day. Look at the hotel’s ambiance! It’s very stylish! I have a reservation for the Thang Long Water Puppet Show this evening. Since I don’t have any other plans, I’ll go to a nail shop. I asked the hotel staff for a recommendation. This nail shop is just a one-minute walk from the hotel. Let’s go! I didn’t make a reservation, but they were happy. They have a wide variety of colors. Today I’m getting my toenails done. This is the design I wanted. For some reason, there’s no video… it was quick. It’s renowned for its beautiful stained glass windows. They’re very thick. I wanted to take a break. I walked about 10 minutes from the cathedral. Vietnam is famous for its “egg coffee.” I ordered one on the first floor and then moved to the third floor. It had a colonial atmosphere. It was a very lovely atmosphere. The balcony was also cute. This is egg coffee, which originated in Hanoi. What does it taste like? The top is like fluffy pudding. The bottom is bitter Vietnamese coffee. It’s so delicious! I love it. It was very relaxing. Let’s move on. I have to redeem tickets for the water puppet show. But it’s so hot. So I took a bicycle taxi! This is a cyclo. The seat is in the front and the driver is in the back. It’s a popular tourist transportation. I took a leisurely ride through the Old Quarter. I could feel the atmosphere and breeze of the city. You can negotiate the price before boarding. It’s usually around 10,000 to 150,000 VND per hour. I went around Hoan Kiem Lake for 150,000 VND. It’s a bit larger than the Japanese yen, so I’m not sure. I was charged double! Everyone, be careful! Now, let’s get back to redeeming our tickets. I booked tickets to the Thang Long Water Puppet Theater through Klook. You have to redeem your tickets in advance. I booked the 4:10 PM show. The staff told me to come to this desk at 4:00 PM. I still had some time, so I took a little walk. Then I took a break at the hotel. Is this a convenience store? I went in. They had a wide selection of alcohol and juices. I bought tonic water and Vietnamese beer. Let’s head back to the hotel. The hotel’s location is a little hard to find, so please watch the video on fast forward! I passed the nail shop and entered a narrow alley. I turned right at the end. We’d arrived. It can be hard to find if you’re here for the first time. I ate the food I’d bought. They were sesame dumplings, which are very protective. Delicious. I went back to the Water Puppet Theater. I redeemed my voucher. The location varies depending on the booking site. Be careful. It ‘s very popular! It’s a popular show in Hanoi. Let’s go. Oh? That’s a unique hairstyle. I booked a ticket with an audio guide. I reserved a VIP seat. I’m in the second row from the front. Thang Long Water Puppetry is a traditional performing art that originated in rural areas in the north about 1,000 years ago. It originated when villagers used water from rice paddies to perform as entertainment during festivals. The puppeteers are backstage, controlling the puppets from the water using bamboo poles and strings. It’s amazing. The 50-minute show ended. The show is performed four to five times a day. Tickets can be purchased on the day, but reservations are recommended due to its popularity. Let’s go for dinner! This place is a two-minute walk from the theater. There’s no one there. It’s one floor above. This is a popular Vietnamese restaurant with a view of Hoan Kiem Lake. What should we eat? I’m hungry. There are many dishes I’ve never seen before. I’ll order this first. Vietnamese beer is cheap and there’s a wide variety. This is fried rice. Is it pickled vegetables? I didn’t know how to eat it, so I asked the staff. You eat vegetables on top of rice. I also ordered this. They taught me how to eat it too. It seems to be rolled up and eaten. I wonder what it tastes like? I’m looking forward to it. Let’s eat it. This… has no taste. It’s bland. I imagined it to be like Chinese fried rice. It’s completely different. It has a gentle flavor. Let’s try this too. Delicious! This is thin rice noodles with beef wrapped in herbs and grilled over charcoal. It’s then eaten with a sweet and sour sauce. I’ve never eaten those things in Japan. That’s why I love traveling abroad. I’m full. Let’s go back to the hotel. The atmosphere changed as evening approached. I head home while looking at the city. There are really a lot of motorbikes.
