【夜が最高】世界遺産ホイアンはランタンの絶景だった!最高の時間を過ごす街歩き

Hi, this is Kei from Ee Tabi Travel Guide. On this channel, we share beautiful places we visit as a couple, along with helpful travel tips. Just how stunning is Hoi An’s night view, a World Heritage site? We went to see for ourselves! Arrived at Da Nang International Airport. Immigration was smooth—took about 20 minutes to clear. Right across from baggage claim, you’ll see rows of SIM card shops. We checked two shops, and the prices were the same. While waiting for our luggage… We started with the most important thing—getting an eSIM! If you need an eSIM with a phone number, Mobifone is the only option. Payment could be made by credit card. The staff immediately set it up when I asked. Take a screenshot of your phone number. Next, set up the Grab app, which is essential for getting around in Vietnam. Open the Grab app you installed in advance in Japan, and allow notifications. Tap “Continue.” Tap “Sign Up.” It will ask for your phone number, so select Vietnam first. Then enter the local phone number from the eSIM you just purchased. On iPhone, you can long-press the screenshot to copy the phone number. A security key will be sent, so enter it. You’ll be asked for your name—real name is not required. It asks if it can contact you via WhatsApp or SMS. Then it asks for permission to allow tracking—tap “Allow.” Tap the car icon at the top left, and it will ask, “Where to?” Paste the name of your hotel. The hotel appeared at the top, so tap it. Check that it says “International Arrival” and tap “Select this pickup point.” Available cars will appear—choose the cheapest one and tap “Book.” Since you’re instructed to take a selfie, tap “Start” and take your selfie. Allow camera access and take the selfie. For getting around Vietnam, Grab is the best choice! You know the fare in advance on the app, and there’s no cash involved. It’s really zero stress. The service option selection appears, but I didn’t choose anything. Here, it asked me to confirm the payment method. I selected “Card” and registered my card details. It shows that 347,000 VND has been charged to my card. A driver has been found, and the license plate is displayed. The driver sent a message—you can tap “Show Translation” to translate it. An additional 9,000 VND airport fee was added, so the total was 356,000 VND, about 2,000 yen. We just exited the arrival gate at Da Nang International Airport. Now we’re heading to the Grab pick-up area. Cross the pedestrian crossing and go left, and you’ll see the Grab area. There are signs, so it’s easy to find. I showed the screen to a staff member in a green shirt, and they told us to wait here. The driver found us and guided us to the car. Now we’re getting in the Grab and heading to the hotel. The driver tried hard to talk to us using a translation app. He even gave us a full sales pitch! We saw a Grab with three passengers! Later, we even saw one with four. After about 50 minutes, we arrived at “Allegro Hoi An . A Little Luxury Hotel & Spa.” The moment we stepped in, the air conditioning felt amazing. The design is fantastic and so relaxing. We enjoyed a welcome drink and some sweets. I’ll introduce the hotel details in another video. It’s a mix of traditional Hoi An architecture and modern luxury. There’s an atrium in the center of the hotel. When we opened the door… the smell was amazing! This is the best hotel for sightseeing in Hoi An. After checking in, we headed to a money exchange shop popular in town. A 7-minute walk. On Google Maps, it’s listed as a motorbike rental shop. But it’s also a money exchange called An Co Hoi An. The rates are written on paper, so it feels safe. When we asked to exchange money, the wife came out from inside. She counted the Vietnamese dong and handed it to us. We exchanged money at a bank in Hue later, but the rate here was better. By the way, we exchanged money here again the next day. This is the best money exchange place in Hoi An. After exchanging money, we headed to the coconut forest for the basket boat experience. We were mistakenly taken to the ticket counter. Luckily, we noticed the mistake by checking the map and arrived at the correct spot. Be careful, as drivers sometimes take you straight to the ticket counter. It takes about 20 minutes from Hoi An city. We walked slowly toward the boarding area. KKday’s website has photos of the boarding point, which made it easy to find. After arriving, we showed our voucher and boarded the boat right away. These were originally used as fishing boats in central Vietnam. This is a traditional round bamboo boat. I was given a traditional sun hat called “Non La” to wear. It seems well waterproofed, so no water is seeping in. A veteran boatman skillfully rows the basket boat for us. We move along the waterways between water coconut palms. It’s more crowded than I expected. After a while, we arrive at an open area. Right away, we spot a boat spinning at high speed—it’s intense! The boatman asked if we wanted to spin, but we declined. Going further, we reach a karaoke spot. We were moored at one of the many karaoke stations and forced to watch. There was also a fishing performance where they cast a net. Now we head back along the waterway. On the way back, the boatman kindly took a commemorative photo for us. The experience lasted about 40 minutes. We gave a tip to the boatman who rowed for us the whole time. It’s a good idea to bring small change. After disembarking, we enjoyed some coconut water. Our booking included coconut water, but you can also buy it on-site. It was at room temperature, but very delicious. Now we head to dinner by Grab. It took about 20 minutes to get to Hoi An Ancient Town. For dinner, we came to try two of Hoi An’s top three specialties: White Rose dumplings and fried wontons. We went to Bong Hong Trang (White Rose Restaurant). On the left is an open-air area; on the right, a glass-enclosed space with air conditioning. We were guided to the air-conditioned room. First, we toasted with a 20,000 VND beer—about 120 yen. We enjoyed Hoi An’s three specialties: White Rose dumplings and fried wontons. We couldn’t resist ordering another beer. All this for under 1,500 yen for two people. Credit cards were also accepted. Here’s a look at the restroom situation you rarely see on YouTube. Here’s the washroom—inside the door, there’s a toilet and a urinal. You can’t flush paper, so please throw it in the bin next to it. The details of the meal will be introduced in another video. Now for today’s main event—the night in Hoi An, a World Heritage Site. It’s a 7-minute walk from the hotel to Hoi An Ancient Town. In the Edo period, Japanese trading ships sailed to Hoi An and established a Japanese quarter. A restored model donated from Nagasaki Prefecture is on display. The temperature has dropped a little, but the humidity is high and it’s still muggy. In the old town, cars and motorbikes are restricted, so it’s easy to walk around. There was a magnificent tree in front of a temple called Cam Pho Temple. It is said that locals have long worshiped it as a “sacred tree.” Hoi An Ancient Town was designated a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1999. It has connections with Japan, China, India, Europe, and various countries. Its unique streetscape is characterized by a mix of different architectural styles. Many townscapes built between the 16th and 19th centuries remain in their original form. Hoi An’s Japanese Bridge, officially called Lai Vien Bridge. It was built in 1593 by Japanese residents living in Hoi An at that time. It’s a roofed bridge, 3 meters wide and 18 meters long, that once connected the Japanese and Chinese quarters. There is a small temple in the middle of the bridge, which is why it’s also called the “Bridge Temple.” Looking at the Thu Bon River from the bridge, you can see it’s crowded with many tourists. At both ends of the bridge, there are statues of a monkey and a dog, symbolizing that construction started in the Year of the Monkey and was completed in the Year of the Dog. The Japanese Covered Bridge has undergone several restorations and remains one of Hoi An’s most iconic attractions. The Thu Bon River in front of us is the river that brought prosperity to Hoi An. In the past, spices, ceramics, and silk were transported to the world through this river. It used to be a bustling trading hub filled with merchants from all over the world. According to some theories, between 1604 and 1635, 356 Red Seal ships sailed to Southeast Asia. Among them, 75 ships are said to have called at Hoi An. We booked the lantern floating activity on the same day, but the meeting point was hard to find and we got lost. A local kindly called the organizer for us, and we managed to reach the meeting point safely. We were surprised to see children working so hard. We showed the voucher on our phone and received a lantern, a ticket, and some herbal tea. It was sweet, but cold and refreshing. We boarded the boat from the riverside steps. Once on board, we put on life jackets. It’s cooler on the river than in the town. The lantern floating experience in Hoi An takes place on the Thu Bon River, which runs through the heart of the town. The river is sometimes referred to as the “Hoai River.” In tourist boat tours and similar activities, it is often labeled as the “Hoai River.” The lantern lights that illuminate the night of Hoi An The reflection on the river surface is truly magical Here, you can experience the famous floating lanterns On the calm river, you gently float a lantern while making a wish The boat ride lasts about 20 minutes It was a short time, but a special experience that made us want to return Next, we’ll try the last of Hoi An’s three famous dishes: Cao Lau From the Thu Bon River, it’s about a 20-minute walk to Cao Lau Ba Le, while enjoying the sights Hoi An flourished as an international trading port Lanterns brought by Chinese and Japanese merchants Were modified into unique designs and became a local specialty Since their introduction, lanterns were believed to bring good luck And were lit on full moon nights to honor the dead In 1998, the Hoi An Tourism Department launched the Lantern Festival to preserve this tradition It became a major tourist attraction, and even more lanterns were displayed The floating lanterns also became an important part of the Lantern Festival celebrations To reach Cao Lau Ba Le, turn here and enter the alley We’ve arrived at Cao Lau Ba Le — it has a 4.7-star rating on Google A highly recommended Cao Lau specialty restaurant with great reviews The air conditioning feels so nice inside Cao Lau is a noodle dish similar to dry mixed noodles. The noodles are thick, chewy, and rice-flour based. It’s topped with char siu pork, crispy fried Cao Lau noodles, and herbs, then mixed with a small amount of broth made from the pork’s braising liquid. Credit cards were not accepted here. We had the most delicious Cao Lau in Hoi An. That completes the three must-try dishes of Hoi An! We’re walking back to the hotel. On the way back, we found a stylish café. Surprisingly, it’s Starbucks Coffee! After strolling around Hoi An, we returned to the hotel. The night slowly deepens by the illuminated pool. Hoi An’s night scenery left an impression beyond photos and videos. Next time, we’re heading to the mystical World Heritage site—My Son Sanctuary! Look forward to the breathtaking views waiting for us. Thank you for watching until the end. We’d be delighted if you subscribed to our channel.
