法國 Ep.7 🇫🇷 凡爾賽宮全攻略 走進最浮華的皇宮！巴洛克藝術 & 小鎮漫遊一日遊｜凡爾賽宮到底有多壯觀？

We’ve now arrived in Paris, France. We’re currently in a nearby town called Versailles. And the main reason we’re here is to visit this place behind me – the Palace of Versailles. This is where Louis XIV built his royal palace. It was his home back in the day. So we’re gonna take you guys on a tour of the whole palace. It looks super grand and imposing. Let’s go inside and check it out! After what happened at the Royal Palace in Madrid, we learned our lesson and made sure to book tickets online first. Look at this line – it’s so long! Our entry time is at 4pm, but we’re already this far back, and it’s only 3:45pm now. But the line moves pretty fast, unlike Madrid where security took forever. This is the White Stone Gallery. It’s the first gallery Louis XIV built. And it’s the main hallway that leads into the whole palace. From the second floor, you can look straight out at the entire Versailles garden. It’s all in the Baroque style super symmetrical and neat. On the second floor, there are lots of paintings collected by Louis XIV. The palace is actually quite big, but after walking through the whole place, I still feel like the palaces in Germany are fancier. After leaving the palace, this whole area is the Versailles Garden. Our ticket didn’t include the garden, so now we’re heading out to explore the town of Versailles instead. By the way, the palace only has one exit and one entrance. You can’t walk back inside once you’re out. But if you get the combo ticket that includes the garden, you can go straight in and enjoy the view. I heard people say Paris is full of pushy street vendors, especially from African countries. But honestly, from Italy to Spain and now in Paris, I feel like they’re not as aggressive as people say anymore. They’ve been pretty chill actually. So, seeing them working so hard, we decided to buy a little Eiffel Tower souvenir from them. Let’s keep walking and take a look around the town of Versailles. Over here is a statue of Louis XIV. The whole palace was his residence. He was also called the Sun King, and even the God of War, since he conquered so much land. Right in front of the palace, there’s a Royal Carriage Museum too. After walking past the garden, we arrived at the Church of Our Lady in Versailles. Let’s go check it out. Not sure if it’s because they’re renovating the outside, but there aren’t many visitors here. Once we stepped inside, the sound of the pipe organ music totally stunned us. All the buildings around Versailles look super royal like they’re all part of a palace. Very uniform style, just like the palace itself. We kept walking along the old street, and came across the Saint-Louis Cathedral. There’s also a small farmers’ market here. After finishing the palace area, we walked over to the back garden area. Up ahead here, this part of the garden requires a separate ticket. We bought the 2-day pass, but it doesn’t include the garden area, so we didn’t go inside to check it out. But on the other side… There’s a huge lake where people can row boats. Super relaxing! Originally, there was an Apollo Fountain in the garden, but it’s gone now. I wanted to show you guys, because it’s the same as the one at Chimei Museum in Tainan a 1:1 replica, actually. Let’s take another look around the garden. That’s pretty much it for our Versailles trip. Besides the palace, there aren’t really any other big sights in the town. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed with the Palace of Versailles. Before coming to France, I’d heard so many great things about it. But after seeing it in person, I still feel like the palaces in Germany or Denmark are more impressive. It feels more like a place to show the daily life of the Louis family, and just display their portraits. Maybe I’m not really into painting or art, so I didn’t feel super wowed. Sure, the ceilings are covered with amazing paintings, but compared to other palaces, it’s kind of similar. So yeah, the Palace of Versailles is a bit overrated in my opinion. But if you’ve never seen a Western palace before, it’s still worth coming once. So right behind me now is a big lake next to the garden. We’re gonna end today’s video here by the lake.
