Is a Mt. Fuji Ryokan Hotel Worth It? We Found Out! | MOST EXPENSIVE hotels in Fuji | Mark & Sarah
Staying at a luxury ryokan near Mt. Fuji is a dream for many travelers — but is it really worth the high price?
This isn’t just a hotel — it’s an experience. From private onsens with panoramic Fuji views to traditional yukata breakfasts and dinners, Maruei Ryokan in Fujikawaguchiko promises a once-in-a-lifetime stay.
Known as one of Mt. Fuji’s most luxurious traditional ryokans, Maruei blends impeccable service, breathtaking scenery, and timeless Japanese culture in every detail — from complimentary Fuji water and snacks in your room to rooftop views that feel like they belong in a postcard.

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with tea, snacks, and pure omotenashi hospitality. Our room came with stunning Fuji views, complimentary Fuji water, and access to a private onsen — where we soaked while watching clouds drift across Japan’s most iconic peak.
We dressed in traditional yukata for breakfast and dinner, enjoyed beautifully prepared kaiseki-style meals, and spent our evenings relaxing on the rooftop with Fuji in full view.
To make the trip even more special, we celebrated Sarah’s birthday with a hands-on glass-blowing experience at a local studio — a memory we’ll never forget.
(Full glass-blowing video coming soon ➡️ )
During our stay, we also took a day trip to Oshino Hakkai, a small, peaceful village famous for its crystal-clear spring pools fed by Mt. Fuji’s snowmelt. Surrounded by traditional thatched houses and rural charm, Oshino offers one of the most photogenic Fuji viewpoints in Japan.
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to stay in a traditional Japanese ryokan — complete with private onsen, yukata, and unforgettable hospitality — this is the video for you!!
Stay tuned for the next part of our Fuji series, where we continue exploring the region’s best hidden gems in Autumn.
