Hello! This is E-Ma. Continuing from last time, I’ve just finished touring the famous tourist spot, “Sesshō-seki” (Slaughter Stone), in the Nasu Highlands and am about to head out. This is the second part of Day 1 of my two-day, one-night trip to Nasu. Please read through to the end, along with the previous post (´ー｀). This shrine is said to have originated as a small shrine built in gratitude for discovering a hot spring in the mountains while hunting a white deer. There’s also an anecdote about Nasu no Yoichi, who prayed for victory before the Battle of Yashima and successfully hit the target with his fan. Items related to Nasu no Yoichi are on display in the treasure hall. This shrine is said to grant blessings such as business prosperity, family safety, recovery from illness, good health, matchmaking, and victory. It took a while to reach the main hall (;・∀・). The sacred tree, “Ikiru” (Living). The thick branches stretching out on both sides look like outstretched arms, giving me the power to live (´ー｀). The main hall is now in sight. There are a lot of stairs and it’s tough, but I love walking in nature, so it feels great (´ー｀). “Nasu’s Five-Needle Pine” is a designated natural monument. I’m going to pray there. From here, I can see the “Sesshō-seki” stone where I was just a little while ago. “Konbairo no Yu” is a foot bath next to the torii gate. The water is quite hot, so there was a hose to fill it with. I’d walked quite a bit, so this foot bath was a welcome relief (*’▽’). Even after a long walk, a soak in this foot bath will revive me (´ー｀). The foot bath made my feet feel lighter. I’m off to do one more sightseeing spot (*’▽’). We’ve arrived. A farm is synonymous with soft serve ice cream (*’▽’). Let’s go and try some right away (￣ー￣). Left: Premium vanilla soft serve ice cream 600 yen, Right: Vanilla soft serve ice cream 500 yen. First, the vanilla soft serve. It’s rich (*’▽’). Next is the premium. It’s even richer, like cream cheese (´ー｀). Both are delicious, but the regular one might be enough. Other recreational activities include puttingt-putt golf, archery, and even a fishing pond. It looks like something the whole family could enjoy (´ー｀). As befits a ranch, there’s also horseback riding. Brown…cow? This cow is a Guernsey cow, a small, brown-and-white cow. Compared to Holstein cows, it’s slightly smaller, so it apparently produces only about half the amount of milk. Guernsey milk has a high dairy content and a milder flavor, resulting in a slightly sweet, rich, and creamy taste. There’s also a corner where you can feed horses and donkeys. Rabbits and turtles. Hello, turtle! Hey, turtle! ♪ I’ll pick up some souvenirs at the shop. This milk jam tastes like condensed milk and is delicious (´-｀*). It’s time to check in, so we head to the hotel. “Hotel Sun Valley Nasu.” It’s a famous hotel in the Nasu Highlands. The grounds are large, with buildings and cottages each with a different concept. We’re staying in the “Oriental Garden,” so we head deeper into the building. This is the Oriental Garden parking lot. The atrium lobby is decorated with artwork. The courtyard features a pool that’s open only during the summer. Room 5121… It’s on the first floor. Let’s go in! It’s a twin room. My toothbrush was in a place like this (ﾟДﾟ). My yukata was in the lobby. I can’t see anything… While the room has a unit bath, you can use two large hot spring baths. The first is the large bath inside Oriental Garden. The second is “Yuyu Tengoku,” located in the main building and available for day use. It’s a three- or four-minute walk from Oriental Garden, but a shuttle bus is available. The main building also has a hot spring pool called “Aqua Venus.” Continuing our tour of Oriental Garden. The gift shop also sells milk jam from Minamigaoka Ranch. And it was 50 yen cheaper! (T_T) This is the dinner venue. It’s a buffet featuring Chinese cuisine. It’s rare to see a hotel buffet featuring Chinese cuisine. There was also a seafood bowl (´ー｀). The live kitchen also had Peking duck, steak, and ramen (*’▽’). I ate everything, Japanese, Western, and Chinese (´ー｀). I ate way too many desserts (^▽^;). The next day, we had breakfast at the same venue. Breakfast also had a wide selection of Japanese, Western, and Chinese dishes (´ー｀). Both dinner and breakfast were delicious (´-｀*). Since we had eaten too much, we decided to go for a walk after dinner. We headed to the Garden Suite building, which is connected to the Oriental Garden by a corridor. The lights hanging in the corridor were cute (´ー｀). We left the Garden Suite and went out to the plaza outside. It started raining outside, but… the plaza was shining with illuminations (´ー｀). The illuminations are on all year round, so I think you can enjoy them any time (´ー｀). I wonder if they’ll be more decorated during Christmas? There’s a church, and it seems they also do projection mapping there. Unfortunately, it wasn’t on that day (._.). Here are the accommodation fees for this stay at Sun Valley Nasu, where you can have plenty of fun just inside the hotel. Although the building is old, it is a good value for money hotel recommended for families. Now, it’s time to relax in the hot springs (´ー｀).
