【滋賀の小京都】近江八幡をのんびり旅｜八幡堀めぐり・八幡山ロープウェー・ラ コリーナの癒し時間

First, I gather information from the tourist information center. Omihachiman has been a filming location for various dramas and movies. The scenery of the white-walled storehouses and old houses along the moat is also famous as a filming location for period dramas. I will take a stroll along Hachimanbori. Hachimanbori is the main waterway that supported Toyotomi Hidetsugu’s castle town. It supported the birth and prosperity of Omi merchants and brought bustle to the town. I plan to take a boat ride later. Hachimanbori, which fell into disuse after the war, has been restored to its beauty by local young people. I can see the peak of Mt. Hachiman . Ah, it feels so good! The tranquility of Mt. Hachiman as seen from Hachimanbori. I can see the Hachimanyama Ropeway. The rowboat is also relaxing and nice. I plan to go for dinner a little early. I have arrived at Kubotaya, a restaurant serving original Omi beef cuisine. I ordered the “Omi Beef Sukiyaki Gozen.” Omi beef is one of the three great Japanese beefs, along with Kobe beef and Matsusaka beef. Omi beef is characterized by its excellent marbling and the aroma of the meat itself . Omi beef is tender and delicious, and I was very satisfied! The former post office building was designed by Vories. It is a building that blends Japanese and Western styles, and the restored entrance still remains. We pass through Machiya Club and head to Going Nuts! Machiya Club is a project that began in 2012 to utilize townhouses and create excitement in the area. The project’s base is the site of a vast sake brewery founded in the Edo period. We pass through Machiya Club and head to Going Nuts! Going Nuts! is a bulk nut store located on the site of a sake brewery in Omihachiman. They sell nuts by weight on the spot. We had a limited-edition smoothie. We head to the Yawatabori Tour by boat. We plan to board this boat. There is a step of about 2 meters. The Suigo Meguri, which goes through the reed fields around Yawatabori, seems to be on the other side of this step. We make a U-turn here. It was a relaxing boat ride of about 30 minutes. Next, we head to the Yawatayama Ropeway. The ropeway station is a short walk away. It is located on the side of the road. The soft lighting is lovely. We pray at the Onegai Jizodo Hall. We take a quick look at the mountaintop observation deck. Beyond the observation deck there is an object of love. We continue up and pass through the mountain gate. It looks like a cat that lives on Mt. Hachiman. So cute! 帰りました。 English : This is Nishinoko, Lake Biwa’s largest inner lake. You can faintly see Mt. Ibuki. We head to the ruins of Nishinomaru, where you can see Lake Biwa . Lake Biwa is really huge! It’s time to head to the ropeway station going down . Next, we head to La Collina Omihachiman , the flagship store of Club Harie, famous for its Baumkuchen, and the Japanese confectionery shop Taneya. The thatched-roof buildings surrounded by the nature of Omihachiman are like something out of a Ghibli world. Water dripping everywhere is soothing. The copper-roofed building is the headquarters of Taneya Club Harie. There are water droplets here too… There are terraced rice fields built into the slope of the hill . We enter the Baum Factory, where we can watch the Baumkuchen being baked right before our eyes. We plan to eat some freshly baked Baumkuchen at the Baumkuchen Cafe on the second floor. There is also a space to relax in the center. The top reaches up to the sky. As expected, Club Harie’s Baumkuchen is moist and delicious! I also bought some souvenirs. The popular photo spot “Earthen Tower” designed by Terunobu Fujimori is also available. There’s a stylish gift shop. No matter where you look, it’s a picturesque space. The clouds are so beautiful! It was already late afternoon, so I took the highway back and watched the sunset.
