【福井グルメ旅】ヨーロッパ軒のソースカツ丼&越前そば!炉端焼きやカフェも巡る福井名物紹介|Courtyard by Marriott 福井
Hello everyone, this is Ekotabi. This time, I’ll be introducing some restaurants I ate at while sightseeing in Fukui! The first stop is the main branch of the famous Europaken restaurant in Fukui. This restaurant is known for its original sauce katsudon (pork cutlet bowl), and is popular with celebrities, including Hiroshi Itsuki. My wife ordered the Ladies’ Katsudon Set, which includes two katsu. Men can also order this. I ordered the 3-item platter, which included katsu, fried shrimp, and minced meat cutlet. The refreshing sauce and thin cutlet paired perfectly and were absolutely delicious! The second stop is Echizen Tsurukisoba Honten, located about a 10-minute walk from Fukui Station. This soba restaurant has been in business for over 90 years. The restaurant is spacious and offers both table seating and tatami seating. See the menu here. They have a variety of other dishes besides soba. It’s hard to choose. This restaurant apparently hand-makes their noodles every morning using native Fukui Prefecture rice. I can’t wait to try it. All of the a la carte dishes at soba restaurants look delicious. This is the warm kitsune soba my wife ordered. These are flat soba noodles. They look delicious. The fried tofu is unusually finely cut. I ordered grated daikon radish soba, a Fukui specialty. Oroshi soba refers to soba noodles topped with grated daikon radish. The waiter explained to me that the grated daikon radish broth should be poured over the noodles. It was refreshing and delicious. I especially recommend it for those who don’t like salty soba broth. Our third stop was “THE LOUNGE & BAR” inside the Courtyard by Marriott Fukui, where we were staying. We decided to enjoy some after-dinner tea here. They’re open until 11:00 PM (last orders 10:30 PM). A cake set for 1,600 yen?! That’s a bargain for a luxury hotel! There are five types of tea and six coffees. If you order the cake set, they’ll bring it to you and let you choose from at your seat. So luxurious! My wife ordered tea. It was brewed right in front of us. We waited in a stylish hourglass. The tea only trickled out. My wife must have been using it incorrectly. Pour into the teapot and then into a cup. I ordered coffee. This is the cake my wife ordered. Is it lychee on top? The sides are coated in white chocolate. It’s even decorated with gold leaf. Luxurious. Looks delicious. I ordered the Basque cheesecake. It looks delicious. Wow, it’s so creamy. By the way, it was actually incredibly delicious. The fourth stop was Yutori Coffee, located right in front of the east exit of Fukui Station, which I visited that morning. The interior is bright and open, which is a lovely feeling! Yutori Coffee is a coffee chain that operates mainly in Fukui Prefecture. This looks delicious. They also have a habutae mochi parfait. A free morning set is available with your drink until 11:00 AM. The morning set comes with salad and soup. The soup is consommé soup. It’s easy on the stomach in the morning. The coffee and buttered toast I ordered. It even comes with a boiled egg. It’s amazing that this is free. My wife ordered banana juice. Of course, she also got the morning set. The fifth stop is Robatayaki Yayoshi, a five-minute walk from the west exit of Fukui Station. The cheers for Nakamura are more prominent than the sign. This is the appetizer. A sashimi platter. Incredibly fresh. They look amazing! And these are fried oysters. They were freshly fried and piping hot. Next is Fukui’s specialty, Heshiko. This fish is salted and aged in rice bran. It’s quite salty and has a strong smell. Here’s fried Gaza shrimp. Apparently, it’s a “phantom shrimp” due to its low catch and rapid deterioration. Finally, I’ll introduce Amida Soba Yuhoan, located on the first floor of the Courtyard by Marriott Fukui building. I visited in May, but the winter menu was still available. The restaurant isn’t very spacious, and it seems like the staff is working alone. I ordered grilled mackerel sushi, a Fukui specialty. The mackerel was delicious. This is Echizen oroshi soba, topped with grated daikon radish. The aroma of the soba is also palpable, making it very delicious. That ‘s all for today’s video. Thank you for watching. If you enjoyed it, please subscribe to the channel and rate it highly.
