【圧巻の紅葉!】日本三大渓谷美(妙義山・寒霞渓・耶馬溪)の紅葉絶景! / Japan’s Three Great Valley Autumn Foliage Spectacles! [4K]
Japan’s Three Great Valley Views: Autumn Foliage Spectacles ! Mt. Myogi ( Gunma Prefecture ) Mt. Myogi is an impressive mountain with an unusual mountain shape and rough rocky surface. It is counted among “Japan’s Three Great Valley Views” and “Japan’s Three Great Natural Wonders”. It has been selected as one of the “100 best autumn leaves in Japan”. Mt. Kondo Mt. Hakuun (White Cloud Mountain) Mt. Myogi is a collective name for several peaks including Mt. Kondo, Mt. Hakuun and Mt. Kinkei. The highest peak is Soma-dake (1,104m) on Hakuun Mountain The roadway winds its way through the main peaks. Mt. Kondo Stone Gate Tour Hiking Course The First Stone Gate Climbing to the summit of Mt. Myogi is very dangerous and is for advanced climbers, but There is a well maintained “intermediate path” that walks along the middle of Mt. Myogi. In particular, the “Stone Gate Tour” is an enjoyable hiking course even for beginners! The Second Stone Gate The second stone gate goes through a chain, which is a bit more challenging. Relatively short distances and detours that don’t go through the chain link The Fourth Stone Gate The Cannon Rock The Fifth Stone Gate The fourth stone gate offers a view of the Cannon Rock and the fifth stone gate. The third stone gate is too small to pass through. Higurashi no Kei From the fourth stone gate, you can see the magnificent view called “Higurashi no Kei”. Panoramic view from the Mt.Myogi Nakanodake Parking Lot The Nakanodake Parking Lot is located at the southernmost parking lot of Mt Myogi. This parking lot is a convenient base for climbing Mt Myogi, such as the “Stone Gate Tour”. The view of Mt. Myogi from here is amazing. It is also one of the best places to view Mt Myogi. This is the morning view of Mount Kinkei seen from the Nakanodake parking lot. Mt. Kinkei is one of the three main peaks of Mt. Myogi. Due to the danger of falling rocks, climbing is currently prohibited. Mt. Myogi is exquisite in the combination of the rugged mountain scenery, oddly-shaped rocks and autumn leaves. It’s a famous place to enjoy the autumn leaves, where you can enjoy a landscape that is far removed from Japan. Kankakei (Shodoshima Island, Kagawa Prefecture) Shihozashi Daikanbo Observatory Kankakei is a major valley on Shodoshima Island in the Seto Inland Sea. Alongside Mt. Myogi and Yabakei, it is counted among the “Three Great Valley Views of Japan.” It is also listed as one of the “100 Famous Autumn Foliage Spots in Japan” and one of the “100 Scenic Views of Japan.” The Kankakei Ropeway, spanning 917m in length with a vertical drop of 317m, is another highlight. This grand gorge stretches between Mt. Hoshigajo and Shihosashi in central Shodoshima. Rocks deposited by volcanic activity approximately 13 million years ago were shaped over eons by crustal movements and erosion from wind and rain, creating a magnificent landscape of towering odd-shaped rocks and sheer cliffs. To the south, you can see Utsumi Bay and the islands of the Seto Inland Sea. On clear days, you can even see the distant mainland of Shikoku! Kankakei Ropeway The Kankakei Ropeway connects the base of Kankakei Valley to its summit. It is Japan’s only ropeway offering simultaneous views of the sky, sea, and gorge. Boarding begins at Koun Station (Kountei Station) at the base of Kankakei. The parking lot at the base station often fills up by mid-morning during peak autumn foliage season. Board the ropeway and finally set off for the summit! Windows can be opened, allowing passengers to view the scenery directly outside, not just through glass. As the ropeway ascends, the majestic beauty of the valley and the vibrant colors of the autumn leaves unfold! Passengers gasped in awe at the breathtaking autumn foliage spread out below!! The ropeway glided past towering rock walls looming right before our eyes. The journey from the base station (elevation 295m) to the summit station (elevation 612m) takes about 5 minutes. It’s over in a flash, but you can fully enjoy the 360-degree views from the car windows! The spectacular observation deck near the Kanka Kei Ropeway summit station is also a must-see! Right before your eyes: the rock faces and autumn leaves of Kanka Kei. Far in the distance: the Seto Inland Sea and the Mito Peninsula. Closer: Kusakabe Port and the townscape. Offshore: several small islands floating in the Seto Inland Sea. On a clear day, you can even see the mainland of Shikoku far in the distance! You can also look down on the ropeway crisscrossing the Kanka Kei Valley. Enjoy the grand panorama of one of Japan’s Three Great Valley Views spreading out before your eyes! Kankakei Summit Observatory You can also see the famous iron ring for the “tile-throwing” ritual. The actual throwing uses small, plate-shaped stones about 5cm in diameter. Throw them with your wish, and if it passes through the ring, your wish is said to come true… After enjoying the summit views, take the ropeway back down to the mountain base. Kankakei Valley is mentioned in the Nihon Shoki, compiled in the 8th century, and was anciently called “Kagikakeyama” or “Kamikakeyama.” In 1878 (Meiji 11), the Confucian scholar Fujisawa Nangaku named it “Kankakei Valley.” In 1923 (Taisho 12), it was designated a National Scenic Beauty Spot, and in 1934 (Showa 9), it was also designated part of the Setonaikai National Park. It was also selected as one of Japan’s Three Great Valley Views and one of Japan’s 100 Scenic Views. It bustles with tourists during the seasons of fresh greenery and autumn leaves. “Omote Junikkei (Twelve Views)” Hiking Trail Actually, the ropeway’s base station also serves as the trailhead. You can hike to the summit along a roughly 2km mountain path known as the “Omote Twelve Views.” Along the trail, there are several points where you can see clusters of strange rock formations. For example, the towering rock formation “Kin-Byobu” is one of the Twelve Views. The rest hut “Koun-tei,” located right at the trailhead, is also one of the Twelve Views. Rosando The hollow “Rosando” formed within a large rock wall. About a 15-minute walk from the trailhead, this spot is also famous for its beautiful autumn leaves! There is a rest area near “Rosando.” Japanese macaques inhabiting Shodoshima also enjoy viewing the autumn leaves! Several groups of Japanese macaques on Shodoshima move around collectively. If you’re lucky, you might encounter them during your hike. Even if you don’t hike to the summit, be sure to visit Rosando Cave. Inotani Pond Inotani Pond is a reservoir located just before the Kanka Kei Ropeway Mountain Base Station It is known as one of the viewpoints of Kanka Kei. This historic reservoir was constructed during the Edo period (1719) It was used for agricultural water in the island and served as one water source during droughts. “Ura-Hakkai (Eight Views)” Hiking Trail At the northeast end of Inotani Pond, there’s a fork where the road splits into a roadway and a footpath. The winding uphill slope here is actually the trailhead for the “Ura-Hakkai” hike. The “Ura-Hakkai” trail is about 1.8km long, allowing you to hike to the summit. Taikigan Rock
Futami Rock Horagaiwa Rock
It climbs the elevation that the road takes about 10km to ascend in just under 2km. The trail is steep, but you can see eight unique rock formations along the way. Noboridake Peak If you take your time climbing while enjoying the scenery, it won’t be too tiring! As you climb further along the trail, admiring the autumn leaves and bizarre rock formations, a space enveloped in a unique atmosphere unfolds as if you’ve wandered into another world. Sekimondo This sacred site utilizes a natural rock cave formed in the cliff face. The building on the left is Taishido. To the right of Taishido sits a colossal statue of Fudo Myoo. This area is particularly renowned for its beautiful autumn foliage among the “Ura Hachikei”. Passing through the massive natural arch “Sekimon” (Stone Gate), the climb continues. The sheer power of “Sekimon” is incredible, making it the highlight of the “Ura Hachikei” course! Overwhelmed by the mystical atmosphere, you can enjoy viewing the autumn leaves! After a while, the view opens up to reveal the next strange rock formation! “Matsutake Rock” This is a place where you can feel the energy of ancient volcanic activity It is one of Shodoshima’s representative power spots The area around “Matsutake Rock” is a plaza, with “Deer Rock” visible behind it. Deer Rock Its name comes from its shape resembling a deer gazing at the mountain range. The “Ura-Hakkkei” (The Hidden Eight Views) hiking trail is said to surpass the “Omote-Junikkei” (Front Twelve Views) and is a scenic trail where you can experience the charm of Kankakei. When visiting Kankakei, be sure to give it a try! Yabakei ( Oita Prefecture ) Yabakei Valley is a large valley located in the northern part of Oita Prefecture It is one of the three most famous autumn leaves in Japan. The Hitome Hakkei (Eight Sights at a Glance) Tobinosu Mountain Kannon Iwa Rock The “Hitome Hakkei” is known as the most beautiful scenic spot in Yabakei. The rocky peaks are lined up like Gunei Mountain, Kannon Rock, and Meoto-Iwa, etc. The name comes from the fact that you can see all eight views from a single location. Meoto-Iwa Rock Yabakei has many scenic spots in a vast area. It is counted among Japan’s Three Great Valley Views and Japan’s Three Great Natural Wonders, and is also counted among the New Three Great Views of Japan alongside Onuma Park and Miho no Matsubara. Gunei Mountain Hon-Yabakei Hon-Yabakei is one of the most well-known scenic spots. The symbol of the Hon-Yabakei is the “Kyoshuho” that rises up facing the Yamakuni River. The Ao no Domon (Blue Cave) The Ao no Domon is a hand-carved tunnel at the foot of the “Kyoshuho” Peak. It took 30 years for Zenkai Monk to open it in the Edo period. The tunnel was extensively renovated after the Meiji era and is now open to cars. Some of the old bare-dug tunnels are still in place and can be explored. Keiseki-en Garden The Keisekien is a Japanese garden built to commemorate the completion of the Yabakei Dam. The stones and water from the dam are used to recreate a mountain stream in Yabakei A garden where the trees, rocks, ponds, waterfalls and mountains are in harmony with the autumn leaves. Urayabakei – a view of Ifuku Ifuku no Kei is located in the southwestern part of the Yabakei area. You can see a group of wild and unusual peaks and a peaceful satoyama landscape. Urayabakei – a view of Tachihata Tachihata no Kei is located in the southwestern part of the Yabakei area. This is a typical view point in the so-called “Urayabakei” area. A forest of rocky peaks stretches for about 1 km, and the colored leaves on the surface of the mountain are magnificent. Urayabakei – a view of Tsurugaharu “Tsurugahara no Kei” is a scenic spot located near “Tachihata no Kei”. There is a large pond surrounded by rocky peaks, and you can enjoy the beauty of the autumn leaves reflected in the pond. Yabakei, View of the Kakura The “Scenic Views of Kakura is located a little south of Sin-Yabakei Valley (Hitome Hakkei). You can see a group of oddly-shaped rocks called “Shu-Sen-Iwa” and the autumn colors of the surrounding area. Shiiya Yabakei: A View of Tanigouchi A group of strange rocks called the “Seven Lucky Gods of Higashi-Okuyama” “Tanigouchi no Kei” is located in the southeast of the Yabakei area. It is also famous for the view of a group of strange rocks called the “Seven Lucky Gods of Higashi-Okuyama”. A little to the left of the Seven Lucky Gods is the Tanigouchi Scenic Area. The view of oddly shaped rocks and oddly shaped peaks peeking out of the trees and the changing colors of the leaves is superb! If you go down to this valley, you will find the lodging facilities of the Seven Lucky Hot spring You can see the strange rocks of the “Tanigouchi Scenic Area” up close. This is a low-profile, hidden scenic spot. The exquisite scenery with its oddly shaped rocks and peaks is second to none! There is so much more to Yabakei that we can’t fully introduce to you! It’s truly a place worthy of being one of the “Three Great Places to See Autumn Leaves” in Japan! http://www.healing-japan.tv/
