秋の小豆島を巡る、1泊2日大人旅。憧れの島宿で過ごす|瀬戸内海のグルメを満喫|寒霞渓|二十四の瞳映画村|オリーブ公園|島宿真里

Hello everyone! Autumn is slowly starting to feel like it’s here. How are you all doing? This time, we’re sharing a two-day, one-night trip to Shodoshima. From Kobe, we boarded the Jumbo Ferry Aoi for about three hours. 🚢 This is the start of a grown-ups’ trip! We sailed across the calm Seto Inland Sea. The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge is always a sight to behold! We enjoyed some gelato made with local ingredients! Our excitement for the trip was building! We were almost there… arriving at Shodoshima’s Sakate Port! Our first stop was Kankakei Gorge. We took the free shuttle bus from Sakate Port (apparently only available from September). We then took the ropeway up to Kankakei Gorge, located almost in the center of Shodoshima. It was created by volcanic activity about 13 million years ago. Let’s have lunch. Enjoying local cuisine surrounded by a breathtaking view is the best! ♪ The autumn leaves are still a little ways off… We pass through the blue tunnel… We keep walking… We’re off to see the Setouchi Triennale art piece: “Sky Jewel/Sankakei” (Setouchi Triennale 2022, by Aoki Noe). We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the majestic beauty of the valley! Now, let’s head to our lodging for the night. The main purpose of this trip was to visit this lodging. It was difficult to get a reservation, but I finally managed to get one this time, so I’m really looking forward to it! ☺ Savoring Moromi Island Inn. There are two “Mari” lodgings on Shodoshima. I previously stayed at “Umioto Mari” lodging, and it was such a wonderful experience, I really wanted to stay at the other “Mari” lodging. This lodging has a nostalgic, quaint atmosphere. Tonight, we’ll be staying in the “Nano” room, a standard room. All rooms have their own hot springs, fed directly from the source. After a welcome drink, we took a break and headed to the private bath, Rie Onsen. This is Take no Yu. Surrounded by the sounds of the trees and the wind, we relaxed and enjoyed the bath. It seems they serve homemade fruit liquor around the hearth. A refreshing soda mix is perfect for a post-bath drink. Then, let’s head to the dining area in the main house. Here, we can enjoy the soy sauce kaiseki course. Freshly made fresh soy sauce is made right there. Watching it drip right before your eyes is a delight! Cheers! The thoughtful setting is truly touching. A sashimi bowl featuring seasonal autumn island vegetables is a feast for the eyes and a delight to the palate . With four different kinds of island soy sauce, we were able to taste the different flavors. Each dish was unique, and we truly enjoyed the island’s bounty. Ginger sesame rice, cooked in a clay pot , was brimming with the flavor of fresh ginger . We finished off with a sweet treat. It was a very satisfying dinner. Ah, I’m so glad I made it… I’m so happy!♡ That evening, the owner led us on a night tour called “Night Stroll,” where we learned about the island’s history. Good morning. It was a peaceful morning, with a faint aroma of soy sauce in the air. Let’s move on to breakfast, the perfect way to enjoy the island’s bounty. The delicious “wake-up breakfast” truly awakened my body. The firm, chewy island somen noodles were also delicious.♡ It was a wonderful inn, and I’d definitely like to return. With a lingering sense of regret, we headed out to explore Shodoshima . We were blessed with beautiful weather on this trip to Shodoshima. The area around the inn is known as “Shonosato,” or “soy sauce town.” Soy sauce and tsukudani factories line the streets. The factories and moromi mash warehouses were apparently built during the Meiji period. Itabori is black with soy sauce bacteria. Apparently, you can also tour the soy sauce warehouses (reservations required). The townscape was atmospheric and interesting. Hopping on the bus to our next destination…🚌 The scenery and announcements from the window… The real thrill of the trip is arriving at the “Twenty-Four Eyes Movie Village.” This tourist facility utilizes the open set of the 1987 film “Twenty-Four Eyes,” starring Yuko Tanaka. “Twenty-Four Eyes” is a novel written by Shodoshima-born author Sakae Tsuboi, published in 1952. It tells the heartwarming story of a new teacher, “Mr. Oishi,” who is assigned to a branch school on the island at the beginning of the Showa era, and his 12 first-grade children. (From the Shodoshima Travel Guide) The view of the Harima Nada Sea from the wooden school building is beautiful— it feels like you’ve entered a world of film. The museum also houses a literature museum showcasing Japanese film and literature, a gallery, and a book cafe. After a short break with soy sauce soft serve ice cream, our next stop is a ferryboat. Apparently, the ferry recreates the sea route that Mr. Oishi took to get to the branch school on the cape in “Twenty-Four Eyes.” I let myself be carried away by the sounds of the ocean for about 10 minutes. Olive Park came into view. We arrived! Roadside Station Shodoshima Olive Park, the filming location for the live-action movie “Kiki’s Delivery Service.” It’s a must-see when touring Shodoshima! ☺ In front of the windmill… I straddled my “magic broom” and jumped! Thank you to everyone at Okayama University! We had lunch at the park’s cafe, “OLIVAZ.” Pizza made with Shodoshima olive oil. Plenty of fresh vegetables. It was a relaxing and enjoyable trip to Shodoshima. Now, it’s time to head home… 🚢 The sounds of the ocean, the spectacular view, the aroma of soy sauce, and the tranquil island time soothed me. I’m recharged and ready to do my best tomorrow! Thank you for watching until the end. Subscribing and rating your channel will encourage me. I hope to see you in the next video… Have a nice day🍂
