The kochia at my local Kawaguchiko Oishi Park has turned bright red!
Hello, this is Ichiro! 😊 Today, the kochia have turned bright red, so I’m taking another walk in Oishi Park! Sunday, October 12, 2025 Pampas grass and Mt. Fuji! 👍 The last time I came here was two weeks ago, when the kochia were just starting to turn red. Today, let’s film a nonstop video from the east end to the west end of Oishi Park while gazing at Mt. Fuji! The gaura has grown even more than before. It’s been raining and cloudy lately, so Mount Fuji hasn’t been making an appearance for a while. 😱 Today, Mount Fuji finally made an appearance, but after arriving at the park, I waited an hour for the sun to shine. 😅 Bright red kochia, Lake Kawaguchi, and Mount Fuji. 👍 In the past, kochia was used to make brooms, so it’s also called broom grass. The tourists who came today were so lucky to see Mt. Fuji! 😃 As a local, I would feel so sorry for them if they came all this way and couldn’t see Mt. Fuji. The parking lot is already full today, and traffic is starting to back up on the roads leading to the park. For smoother parking on weekends, try arriving by 9:00 AM at the latest. ✌️ Pampas grass looks like it could be used as a duster. 😊 This path, known as “Flower Street,” stretches 350 meters to the western end, where you can enjoy seasonal flowers. We’re walking through lavender fields, which turn purple in the summer. There are three kochia fields: east, central, and west. The central kochia field can be seen directly ahead. Tourists who came today are truly lucky! 👍 Oishi Park is located on the northern shore of Lake Kawaguchi, one of the Fuji Five Lakes. Oishi Park is operated by the Fujikawaguchiko Town government, and admission and parking are free. ✌️ Next to Lake Kawaguchi, on Lake Sai, there’s a town-run facility called “Iyashi no Sato Nenba (Traditional Japanese Village).” Be sure to stop by there too. 🙏 There shouldn’t be much traffic or crowds there. ✌️ I’m planning to go windsurfing on Lake Motosu this afternoon. ✌️ Lake Motosu is truly a beautiful lake. Please try some sports or camping! 🙏 Yesterday’s rain has crushed the Muehlenbergia spikes. 🤔 I wonder if this is what unrequited love is like. 😊 Muehlenbergia is a grass family plant, and the purple parts are spikes. Cleome is also growing. Cleome is also known as spider flower. 😃 Yellow cosmos. This is Oishi Park’s flower street✌️ Let’s take a walk in the garden in front of the shop! Oishi Park is open 24 hours a day, but the shop and this garden are open from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. A few autumn roses are blooming. Because of the high altitude here, autumn roses don’t bloom very often. This pergola is a popular photo spot in June, where pink roses bloom.👍 The raindrops are beautiful.😃 A walk after the rain is also nice.👍 I usually go out to shoot videos on weekdays when there are fewer people around. Mount Fuji never really makes an appearance, so today, for the first time in a while, I came here on a weekend. Walking through Oishi Park on a weekend for the first time in a while, I was surprised to see so many Japanese tourists. Kyoto is overcrowded with tourists, but it’s not so bad around the foot of Mt. Fuji. There were butterflies! The line for the soft serve ice cream on the first floor is crazy! 😱 I won’t tell you, but the soft serve ice cream on the second floor is even better! 😅 The hibiscus is blooming! Let’s go to Hana Terrace too! If you come to Oishi Park, be sure to stop by Hana Terrace! 🙏 This is my favorite commercial facility at the foot of Mt. Fuji! I love this garden! 🧡 There were carpenter bees! There are lots of butterflies on the buddleia. Buddleia is also known as the “butterfly bush” (a flower that butterflies love). West Kochia Field. Today was a holiday, so I was worried about crowds, but the park wasn’t that crowded. Maybe it was just the right amount of crowded? I remember Oishi Park being deserted during the COVID-19 pandemic. I hope something like that never happens again. 🙏 This concludes this video. Thank you for watching this video until the end. See you in the next video! 😊
Now that the kochia have turned bright red, I took another walk in Oishi Park.
It’s been two weeks since my last walk when the kochia were just starting to turn red.
Mount Fuji had been hidden by clouds for the past week, but it finally made an appearance.
Once again, I walked non-stop from the east end of Oishi Park to the west end.
