It’s located in Suminoe Ward, Osaka City. This used to be an Osaka City museum, but it opened in 2000 and closed in 2013. This was when Toru Hashimoto was mayor. Ten years later, in 2023, a buyer emerged, and it partially opened as The Jewelry in April 2025. They’re aiming for a full reopening this fall. How do you get in? [Music] Oh, the dome. There are so many. [Music] Oh, is this ACT Minami Port? It feels kind of tropical. The sunflowers are backlit. How do you get out? It looks like a ship, and you ‘ll have to walk quite a distance to the dome. I’ll walk here. The wind is really strong, but is it okay ? I can see it from here. It looks like I can go to the promenade below. Oh, that’s where I parked my car. No, it looks like a secret passage. So, cars are passing over here. There’s graffiti on it. Okay, so we have to climb up here. Okay, we’ve arrived here. They’re having a concert. The ship on display here is an ancient ship, a replica based on a ship-shaped haniwa. It’s really windy. It looks like the main Parnassus store. The river water is brown. [Music] The red is beautiful. Well, I can see it, but it’s completely backlit. It’s so huge. This dome is 70 meters in diameter and 35 meters high. It’s been 25 years since it opened in 2000, and it looks like it ‘s aged well. An online article published in June suggested it would open in September, but there was no one inside, so it seems it hasn’t opened yet. However, the photo in the article showed it lit up . They were selling seats to watch the Expo fireworks at the event that day. The Expo site is on the opposite bank. The total construction cost is said to be 17.6 billion yen. I thought you’d reach this dome by boat , but apparently you can access it via an undersea tunnel. The dome has 4,208 panes of glass, and it’s about 25 years old, but it’s beautiful. It ‘s a little dirty when you zoom in, though. I wonder if it’s really deteriorated? It was designed by architect Paul Andreu. He’s a French architect. This is the Asuka II cruise ship. This website lists recommended tours, including a 3-night, 4-day House Boss tour for 250,000 to 890,000 yen. A fairly expensive option is the 45- day Alaska Hawaii Grand Cruise, costing between 2.69 million and 13.06 million yen. This view, you see, is a ship for the bourgeoisie, passing buildings worth 17.6 billion yen . It feels incredibly luxurious . [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] The lights look like a lighthouse. 今回は大阪市にある、「なにわの海の時空館」の跡地へ行ってきました。
176億円で大阪市が建て2000年に開業し2013年には閉館していた博物館で電気料金だけ払い続けるという負の遺産と呼ばれる場所です。しばらくは管理されていない時期があり廃墟のようになっていましたが、2023年に引受先があり、2025年4月からはカフェが出来たりと活動再開されていました。
この9月には内部も開業するとのことでしたが・・
