Rural Life of Villagers in Cambodia | Floating Village Tonle Sap Cambodia
let’s go let’s go let’s go this is the floating village style toilet that goes straight to the river how do people live in a Cambodian Village and what if this Village is based on the water isolated from anywhere else unless you have a boat with an engine and what if I told you that most of those people are little kids orphans and single mothers where do they live V children offens yes inside yeah in today’s video I’ll be visiting one of those places my Malaysian friend Amy and I will be going inside the floating School floating Temple a floating Church the local markets and the floating houses we will speak to the locals and try to understand more about how these people have adapted to living on the water we will also meet the Vietnamese immigrants living at the floating villages in Cambodia who lack basic rights or a passport the plan was to visit a different place but after the local driver told us that the place wasn’t good to visit anymore and insisted on taking us here instead we agreed yeah how to address you I forgot your name actually I’m not the guy who you’re talking MH that place is right now is not good anymore just kidding s what do you mean not good kind of like the the people house and we go in and see so uh can we request the bo to stop in the housing and we want to recording how they are living let’s go and find our private boat oh my gosh this is exciting we’re going on a little private adventure with our coffees yeah iced latte and iced Americano right so this is our Pier so here over different boats so this is our private boat which one private oh my [Music] God you can take a small boat by hand oh we can yeah look how the color of the water though it looks very muddy and very Brown the water levels are very low right now because of the drought [Music] so everyone here owns boats every family so how many people live in here may 300 family 300 family and Vietnam codia and [Music] Muslim for try to build them as higher as they [Music] can being here right at the front of the boat feel literally going along with the weights of the local bat it’s my first time I sit in front here and and time and really good yeah how deep is very actually 1 M and a half yeah right okay but in the rainy season how deep does it get maybe and the rer just 6 M you want to drive I’m recording you we can really Drive yes I have a boat license oh you have a boat yeah I do actually let’s go let’s go let’s go this so cool it feels very oldfashioned this boat because of the wheel I’m going to show them in a second should they go faster or not the freedom of being able to go anywhere you want is just unbeatable so we can begin to see the floating houses over there yeah then we are changing right the boat yeah the anchor for the put on the house this for the an yeah the anchor they put for the house so we have the logo boat from this community they you go around the lake to see like the logo House logo shop all right but the price for the small boat is $10 for one person need they have to do charity to have the people they are living on the B and support to have the flooring school as well because that school with three food news we Supply everything that free for the this is the school can we go inside the school you can yeah but it’s all for charity right yes I asked my guy already temp you going to stop at the local house as well okay thank you try for your trip thank you see you later you I would try yeah for sure this have a yeah yeah this called by the bamboo Bamboo and the Barrow is the floting house yes fishing that’s the main business fishing by net like this see okay oh they have solar panels so they have electricity yes no electricity solar power and Battery but they have power yeah yeah Power they have power yeah the K is scaming there yeah bamboo you can see bamboo Barrow and bamboo yeah bamboo and that’s how they managed to spay float okay most people here would you say they’re [Music] Buddhist okayy so we have Christian Church how about Muslims Muslim do they live here here is also in here oh that’s a temple that’s really nice that all the different backgrounds and religions are included in this Village and here’s our Temple I feel so magical look every time you go through any of the Dos you get this beautiful floating village view it’s literally magical I’m noticing a lot a lot of dragon flies [Music] oh temples are always so fancy here in Cambodia never feels to just amaz me I’ve never seen like an ordinary looking temple in Cambodia they always been so beautiful here are the tongs the 1,000 L water tongs it’s even a toilet this is the floating village style toilet that goes straight to the river and the light from the solar panels oh can even go upstairs hope that’s okay don’t know if I’m allowed [Music] here Amy my friend said how nice it would be to come here during the night to see all the lights all the different houses coming to light and I have to agree think it would be a very cool experience to come here the night time also a Vietnam yeah Vietnam I saw you in the in the village and three kind people yeah but is it the Le here are they illegal migrants they have ID okay so they just moved no passport NOP very simple but it also seems like it’s a one big Community this is a sh it’s not a house okay it’s a shop yeah it’s aop so they live inside the boat you say this one you see this one this is the pilot I think maybe TV inside yeah TV T you see they don’t have a room it’s all one big open space look the open the hammock that’s a big stationary shop it seems to have a lot of different supplies but then there are also these boat shops that go around different houses we try to get water from there oh not not water they don’t have water no no maybe this one what this what col how much sorry 5,000 we need to take photo of this Cola we never see this color before true yeah yeah so this is the local is it Cambodian Cambodian Cambodian color can you pronounce this in your in eyes I ice yeah W ice okay yeah I it’s the same it’s the same okay oh sweet the same right The Taste the yeah a little bit sweeter but on a hot day like today really good Amy do you want to see the vegetable floating Market yeah yeah if we could go there that would be great they have such a great selection of vegetables anything you want cauliflower Green Mango Peppers bananas papayas yeah wow mango and that’s incredible coconut drinks also what’s this uh banana that’s banana banana so they live in the school did you say many 150 staying here some how many stay here give me uh okay right so this is the school but it’s also an orphanage as far as I understand so some kids go back home to their families after school but some don’t some stay here where do they live the children orans yes inside the yeah [Music] a scho Vietnam School [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so that’s the toilet [Music] again that’s another toilet every little building has its own attached toilet [Music] [Music] [Music] we don’t have a good impression here [Music] [Music] this is supposedly crocod they come look at all the crocodiles swimming in the river or in the lake this is not even a river it’s a lake and it’s a little box and they are all locked up here what do they feed them with they are fish fish only when the guy said the crocodile farm initially I thought he was joking like trying to scare me or whatever but it turns out to be true this is the entire space that they get for the t look like to see just for the tourists they put them don’t think the space is too small for so many crocodiles no no I be told that these are real the temple where people pray there TOS [Music] here I don’t like this place I’m sorry but this disgusts me it’s absolutely discarding to see awful bath [Music] [Music] [Music] so they’re keeping this crocodiles inside the Bo and especially this one and the wash bin why do they have these oh gosh so why do they have these small crocodiles in here small crocodile we Farm here the farm right here I mean are they for sale oh you said the baby in from the city baby from the city but they are selling or what they’re doing no no no no selling not selling yeah for tour picture oh just for the picture what about the toads for the tour and cooking for are you serious for tourists of local some T some the people [Music] Cambodia so I’m going to do a quick recap now and hopefully some of the footage that I showed you earlier would reflect this experience but we were told that these kids are orphans in this school that the vast majority of these kids there are orphans we were not told why they are offense first of all it’s quite a small building with sort of four sections to it but three of these sections are just classrooms and a donation hall and then the other section is supposedly where these kids sleep and live but the section that section seemed way too small for the amount of kids that they claimed were sleeping there but that was just sort of a red flag and maybe maybe they do maybe if you guys know please let me know in the comments what was more disturbing than this is this um whole section of the school dedicated for donations yet our boat driver and boat guide they tell us don’t put any money in that donation box because none of this money will go towards the children I think they said that they don’t know where the money goes to but they know it doesn’t go towards the kids that’s what our boat people said instead please donate the money to the teachers a lot of red flags there there’s a donation box within the school that we are not supposed to use because supposedly we don’t know where the money goes to and won’t go towards the kids but if we give the money to the teachers the that money will go towards the kids but will it though I don’t know but I think the wise and the safer thing to do would be to use a very well trustworthy and very well respected organization that helps the refugees here in Cambodia or helps the offense in Cambodia and and you know it’s a trustworthy organization as opposed to leaving your money I’ve had that box donation box that supposedly was over fraud or giving the money to the teachers which also there are no guarantees that that actually would go towards the children with these kids being offense yet they’re not being had facilities for these kid kids to sleep there they just all seem not very genuine I was hoping that if this video gets enough views and it reaches the right people maybe you guys could let me know in the comments what you think about this whole school about um these donations who do they go towards what is the best way to donate the money also to go towards the children and not to third parties that are actually not even going to help their children in any way shape or form you know in that school I just wasn’t able to tell what was genuine and what wasn’t it was really nice to be able to see how these houses are being built and how these communities are able to adapt and how they have the solar power systems and how they have the floating houses that able to rise go up and down according to the water levels it still must be very difficult to live in such environment and I really feel for those people it was really nice also to see how that place was very open and facilitating towards different religions such as Christianity Islam and Buddhism you could see from the video I didn’t like this was the crocodile farm it was just animal cruelty in its purest form to me and of course I’m never going to be agreeing with that the crocodiles being caged in such small little boxes and crocodiles Cs and crocodiles skin being sold there for the tourists but please let me know what you thought in the comments and also let me know what would be the best way to help the disadvantaged people in Cambodia in your experience thank you goodbye [Music] [Music]

I pity the orphaned children. They really need more government help and assistance. On the brighter side, at least they have access to education. Donations should be given only to recognized charity organizations, not to donation boxes or individuals since the money could be pocketed. About the crocodiles, I agree that they should have a bigger place or better still, a natural habitat. You're quite different from other British vloggers since you zero into the "real" raw life unlike those who focus mostly on luxurious lifestyle. It should be combination of both.

All those ppl that live on the tonle sap are vietnamese ethnics.. not cambodian.
Amazing. I've not seen this, close up, before. Thanks for sharing!
The terrible thing is eat, drink, bath, restroom, cook, wash are using same waters…every day.😢 that's nasty.

i was told the donations for rice go to the shop keepers and they just keep it ,the tice you donate for is resold by the shop keepers, I don't know if this is true but i was told not to donate as it was a scam ,but as i said it is just what i was told
