The saying “food is in Guangzhou” is so strong that it’s known as the birthplace of Chinese cuisine . Guangzhou is also the economic center of the Guangdong region of China’s Guangdong Province, and is considered the third-largest city in China after Beijing and Shanghai. This time, we explored authentic Cantonese cuisine and the latest tourist attractions in Guangzhou, the epicenter of China’s culinary culture. Please watch until the end. Thank you for watching. While I’ve already released the main videos about my stay in Guangzhou , I’ve been to Africa Town and Shi Village, but this video will focus purely on my stay in Guangzhou, bringing you a comprehensive summary. As you all know, “food is in Guangzhou,” and Guangzhou is a city with an exceptionally delicious food scene. Despite its population of around 20 million , it boasts a wide variety of restaurants. I was staying at this IHG hotel called Boko, but I’m planning to change hotels tonight. I’ve booked a nice hotel, so I ‘ll stay there for one last night and make the most of my stay in Koshu . It’s still early, though, so I’m currently in a famous tourist spot in Koshu, called Kami-jo Pedestrian Street, which I think is pronounced differently. There are lots of shops around here , and some delicious food. Before heading to the hotel, I’ll do some sightseeing, since I only have one day. Since I have n’t had breakfast or the hotel yet, I’ll grab some of the famous gourmet food on this street and then head out and explore . Thank you. It’s 10:32 now. It’s still a little early for lunch , but I have two places I want to go to, one for lunch and one for breakfast. I’m sorry to start the video with a food story, but I want to eat something delicious, especially since it’s a place for work and peace. So I’m going to eat now . This area is famous, featured in guidebooks, so I’m sure many Japanese people visit, but there’s a lot to see. There are also tons of other things to see on streets like this. As for sightseeing , I left my luggage at the hotel for now, so I decided to go somewhere nearby before checking out and then head there . This area also has a somewhat Chinese feel. There are a lot of people here . As expected of a city with a population of 20 million, there are shops selling turtle jelly and war jelly, and it ‘s a bit similar to Hong Kong, so the food is a bit Hong Kong-style, or rather , since it’s a Kaohsiung-style restaurant, there’s a lot of Kaohsiung-style food. I’m heading to a restaurant right now. It’s a noodle shop, how can I put it? It’s like a katayakisoba noodle shop, and I’ve heard it’s delicious. I’m going there, and for dessert, there’s this delicious pudding shop. I’m thinking of going there. The restaurant is about 1km from the hotel, so I thought I could take a taxi, but if it rains, I think a taxi would be fine. Since I’m here, I’ll walk around and explore. As you can see, Koshu has an incredibly high rate of motorbikes and electric bicycles. There aren’t that many in China, but I had the impression that there were relatively few compared to Thailand and Vietnam, but there are a lot in Koshu. Also, the driving is crazy. They even come on the sidewalk, and if I had to choose, there are just too many places to eat. Plus, it’s pretty cheap. Fresh, Hong Kong, after all. Fresh is cheaper than Hong Kong, but this feels even cheaper. Wow, this is a really deep market. Since I’m on my way, I’ll just pass by here. It has a really local feel. Since it’s in the south, there are a lot of chicken rice dishes. It’s very lively. There are apartment buildings like this clustered near the market, just like Hong Kong. The shop is up ahead. We’ve gotten pretty far into the deep zone. There are also a lot of bakeries in Koshu. I don’t know if they’re good, though. Koshu is famous for its long flour noodles. My favorite red long flour noodles. They’re famous for being fresh, but I’d love to try something like that too . There are quite a few long flour shops like that. And then there’s the Tenshin shop. I’m going to go to Tenshin to eat there. Maybe I’ll go there tonight . Yes. We’ve arrived. This shop. We’ll eat here. They open from 9am. So we went in. It looks nice. It’s a noodle shop. Wow, it looks delicious. This thin noodle dish looks delicious. Everything looks delicious, but apparently this one is a local specialty. I really want to try the others too. Let’s eat it all. This is the name of the restaurant. Yes. I have the address, so if you’re interested, please go and check it out. It’s a chain restaurant. They also serve free tea. It’s warm, though. So, I just ordered the shrimp noodles and, since I was feeling a little short, some grilled pork . I topped it with a fried egg, and that was over 100 yen. Why isn’t it surprisingly cheap? Even just that is over 2000 yen. I guess this place is pretty expensive, but it’s a popular restaurant, so let’s eat. I’m super hungry. I’m looking forward to it. So, I came here. It looks incredibly delicious. It’s like a mixed noodle dish. I love these noodles, these super thin ones. They seem to have them in soup and broth, but apparently the soup is the recommended option. And with the soupless option, it comes with soup, right? Great. But all that’s 48 yen, so yeah. It costs about 1000 yen. Next, I wonder what this pork is. It’s grilled until it’s crispy. This is so good. They also have sea bream and other things. There was more of this than I expected. It looked like there was only a little in the photo. I thought it would cost 1,000 yen for this, but it’s so thick it’s more than enough for one person. And then you eat it with this leek. Wow, it’s amazing. The piquant fried egg didn’t come though. Okay, I’m going to eat it now. I wonder if the local way is to eat it on top of the noodles. If so, it looks insanely delicious. Isn’t this the best? I’m sure this is better than hotel breakfast. Let’s eat. So delicious. So damn good. So yummy. What is this? Super delicious. Amazing. The texture, all the rice, it’s really good. The size of these shrimp is insane. Winner. Delicious. You often get this kind of Kato dish in Hong Kong. This thin face is so delicious. And when the noodles start to harden and stick together, you pour a little of this soup over them to loosen them up. I’ve heard that before, but it’s amazing. Looks so good. The skin is crispy . I’ll have a little bit of this sauce. Yes. It’s super soft. The skin is so crispy, it reminds me of Peking nak. Delicious. The sauce is spicy. Mustard and sugar. I could eat this forever. There’s no taste of the nak. Delicious. So I left the restaurant. It was so good. It was so high-quality from the first bite that I was already pretty satisfied, but this place is amazing. After this, I want to have one more place and dessert, so I’m going to that famous pudding shop. The next shop is about 400 meters away from the previous one, so I’ll walk there too. This Chinese map app, well, I use the Gaode Map A Map , but a lot of other people seem to use the 100° Map. I’m sure that one is more difficult to use, but I’m sure they don’t know about it. I recommend this Gaode Map . There are so many shops around here, it’s nice. Everything is pretty neat and the food looks delicious. There are also quite a few massage parlors . Yes. We’ve entered a really back alley. There are a lot of massage parlors. It really feels like Hong Kong. Amazing. You’re passing through places that have a really lived-in feel. I ‘m walking exactly as instructed on that map. There are houses all the way up. It’s a nice, sparsely populated back alley. Ah, this is it. This is the restaurant. So I went inside. Well, the menu is written like this, but, you know, everything is ordered via QR code. There was regular milk pudding, flavored milk pudding, and mango, and I ordered the mango because it seems to be the most popular . It cost 18 RMB. So I came here. It looks super delicious. This is sure to be good. You could choose between cold and hot, right? Of course I went for the cold one. This is definitely good. Let’s eat. This is the best dessert. I wonder what it’s like? It’s so good it makes me laugh. It’s really pure milk pudding. Maybe it’s a little close to cheap tofu. Yeah. The sweetness is just right. This is good. Oh, it goes well with the mango too. And there’s quite a lot of it. Yeah. It’s like the final dessert served at a high-end Chinese restaurant. The food is really delicious. Lecture. This is good. I was so glad I came. It’s the best. This is insanely good. It’s very rich. Even though it’s thick, it has a very strong milk flavor. So, it was incredibly delicious. You should really come here . It’s not that expensive, either. Also, I wonder if the building this restaurant is in has become some kind of famous cultural asset. Yes. That’s what it felt like. It’s about time to go back to the hotel, check out, and then move on . So, I went back to the hotel and have just checked out. Now , I’m heading to the hotel where I’ll be staying for just one night, and I took some photos of a nice hotel for the first time in a while. Hotel prices in Koshu are pretty cheap. Well, even if you stay at a cheap hotel, it’s still quite expensive, but it’s cheap compared to Japan and other places where prices are high. This time, I took photos of the Marriott W Hotel , which is my last hotel for one night in Koshu . The reason I chose the W Hotel is because a friend in Gongju who knows the area well told me it was pretty good, with reasonable prices and a high upgrade rate . I have n’t been to many super-luxurious hotels lately, and it’s only 18,000 yen a night. It’s cheap considering the W Hotel’s set price. The W Japan in Osaka costs about 100,000 yen a night, so 18,000 yen is a bargain. Even Bangkok is about 30,000 yen. It’s been a while since I’ve stayed in a nice hotel, and I wanted some time to relax, so I booked this one, and I’m looking forward to it. So, let’s get moving now. And so we’ve arrived. This is the W Hotel in Gongju. It’s a cool Marriott-style building. It’s hollow in the middle. This area is full of commercial facilities , and there’s also the public tower nearby. Okay, let’s check in now . There’s a Saizeriya right in front of the hotel. It’s been ages since I last stayed at the W Hotel. It’s the most casual Marriott hotel . Lately, I haven’t been picky about hotel stays—I’ve just been thinking about earning a lot of points—so this feels luxurious. It’s been ages, so I’m looking forward to it. Wow, that’s amazing. It’s a sneak peek. They’ve already checked my luggage at the entrance . That’s nice. I wonder if I’ll get an upgrade? I’ll check in. So, I’ve completed check-in. This hotel is amazing. It ‘s impressive. So, this time, I got an upgrade for the first time in ages. I checked in pretty early, and I’m not sure how many levels up from the cheapest room, but they said it was fantastic. They said something like a Very Nice Room in English, but it seems like it was a suite. A Fantastic Suite sounds nice, doesn’t it? And, as a welcome gift, they gave me both breakfasts for 1,000 points. And, apparently, there’s a W Hotel Lounge here . Well, my room isn’t ready yet, and they’re still cleaning it, so I won’t be able to get in for about 15 minutes. They told me to go to the lounge , so let’s go. It’s been a while. The last time I got properly upgraded and received a polite no-show at that Marriott hotel was for 18,000 yen a night. I think the room was probably around 100,000 yen a night. I’ll look into it a bit later. Anyway, let’s go to the lounge now. Wow, that’s good. I’m glad I chose it. W Hotel. Lately, I’ve been not that interested in hotels, but this is nice. So this is the lounge. They have happy hour starting at 5:30. I decided to wait here for a bit until my room was ready. This is my first time in a W Hotel lounge. It’s not something you usually get. It’s so beautiful. So, I’ll kill some time in the lounge while I wait. I got a Coke. I was told they’d show me to my room in about 15 to 20 minutes , but it’s taking longer, maybe an hour or two. In the meantime, I’ll kill some time by taking a break in the lounge and working. Anyway, I’ve just got my room, and I got the key, which is a pretty cool card. Well, I’m heading to room 7 on the 24th floor, called Fantastic Side, right now. Thank you. Amazing. It looks like this. So, this is my room, 2407, and I think this is just a normal room. It’s a little dark and it might not be very clear, but the door, well, it’s just a normal door, right ? This door, 2407, is the only one that opens somehow , how can I put it? It’s a really big door. Amazing. I ‘ve never seen a door like this before. What do you call two doors like this? It opens like a misunderstanding, right? Let’s go in. Anyway, I’m in the room. It’s so amazing. I’ve just looked at everything, and it’s been a while since I’ve been in a room like this. I’m getting excited. First off, this is unbelievably spacious. I wonder how many people can fit in here . It’s big enough to seat about 10 people. There’s a living room . It’s amazing. I’m only staying for one night, but the view is amazing. It’s on the 24th floor, so it’s pretty high. And over here is the bedroom, which is super spacious. It’s kind of like this. Even though it’s a double room, the room isn’t too small, isn’t it? It’s not too small. The bed is also huge. And over here is the bathroom suite, so there are two sinks. Yes. All the amenities are there, too. It’s a Dyson. It’s a bit of a pain to get it out, though. There’s a Dyson hair dryer, which is amazing. There’s a bathroom with a TV. I don’t really get it, but the amenities are really decorative. It’s not blue or anything. Maybe it’s from some Chinese manufacturer. There’s also a really spacious closet. There are two toilets , the first one is this latest Toilet. Amazing. There’s another one over here, and this one is bigger. This one is also that Toilet Washlet. After all , a lot of luxury hotels have Japanese-made toilets. Well, if you stay in a suite, even if someone stays with you, there are two toilets and two sinks in one room , so if you separate who sleeps in the bed and who sleeps in the other, I think even people who aren’t that close can stay together. Well, having two toilets is nice. I’m alone, so I can use this one and the other person can use that one. Yeah. But I don’t think it’s a good idea to stay in the same room as someone who makes a fuss about things like that . Yeah. Usually, when you go to a Marriott or something, or a slightly more off-beat, high-end hotel, suites and premium members have a lot of water. There were nine bottles of water in total. I couldn’t drink that much though. And, like I said before, I think it’s rare for a hotel to have a lounge. At the W Hotel. And if you go to the lounge, there’s an endless supply of things like this. They have juices and alcohol too. And massages at luxury hotels are really expensive too. Yeah . The cheapest one is about 1,000 yen. Maybe around 20,000 yen. I kind of feel like I want to try it, but I probably don’t have time today. Also, the W Hotel has an afternoon session. It starts at 2:30pm. It’s about 368,000 yen, or about 8,000 yen. Well, I guess that’s about what I’d spend, or maybe I’d do more in Japan. And, W is kind of a casual place, so they even have a bar and a club . Yes. It’s like this. What do you think, everyone? It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a nice hotel. Well, I’m only staying for one night, but as usual, I’m short on time, so it’s like this. No, it’s great. I’ve said this many times , but lately, I really don’t introduce hotels much anymore. I do stop off for training, though. No, it’s great. I’m excited . No, it’s really good. Wow, it’s the best. It’s completely overwhelming, especially when you stop by alone. But, I’ve been moving around a lot taking pictures, so having a space like this to take a break can definitely be refreshing. The view is nice, too. You can’t smoke. I feel like I have to go all the way to the bottom of the garden, but I guess it can’t be helped since it’s only one night. I got comments saying that I should introduce the hotels properly sometimes, so I’m doing a lot of good photos now, and I think the beds are really good too . I’d like to make it about 200. I’m leaving China tomorrow. Looking outside, it looks like it’s going to rain. After this, I’ll go to the lounge for cocktail time and hang out for a bit during happy hour. After that, I’ll head to the Public Tower or somewhere else where there’s some other Tenshin cuisine I’d like to try, so I’ll head there and do that. I don’t really have much time to stay at the hotel. I want to get back as early as possible and relax at the hotel, but I think I’ll stay in my room for about another hour before heading out. So, I decided to check out the garden of the W Hotel on the fifth floor. It’s some kind of garden, but the pool and everything are in a different place. You can smoke here, so I came here to smoke , and it’s pretty spacious. It’s nestled between the buildings, and it’s beautiful. The W Hotel also runs a Japanese shiso restaurant. I’m not sure what it is today, but they also have a Japanese-style restaurant . This is the W Hotel pool. I didn’t bring a swimsuit with me, so I just had a look. It looked like this. It was beautiful. And this is the W Hotel gym. It looks like this. Oh, there’s one in the basement too. It’s really spacious. So, I came to check out the cocktail hour at the W Hotel lounge. It’s quite rare, so it’s very stylish. They have a fair amount of alcohol, too. There’s a decent amount of food. Well, I’m only going to have a light meal this time. Wow, it’s really stylish. They have sushi too. So I brought something a little light. They had some marinated mackerel sushi, which I think was like fried chicken, and some mango pudding, which I’m not sure about, and something like Puri Island. Yes. It’s quite well-stocked. It’s amazing. I’ve said this many times before, but I think it’s rare for a W Hotel to have a lounge, so I’ll have a light meal before heading out. Yeah. The atmosphere is pretty nice. Yeah. It’s quiet, so I’ll just have some sushi. Yeah. It’s just really delicious. As you’d expect from a hotel . The food is delicious. Now, I’m heading to the public tower. It was raining a bit, but it’s stopped now , but oh well. So, I arrived at the public tower. It’s so beautiful. I’m at the bottom right now, so I can’t really see the tower, but it’s really beautiful. What’s more, there’s a shopping mall underneath . There’s a direct subway station. I don’t usually go to landmark towers like this, but I thought it might interest some people because it’s the tallest building in Koshu. Places like this, in China, tend to be incredibly expensive. It’s a tourist attraction, huh , 4A. Not 5A, though. There are some really impressively dressed people. Recently, even in Japan, they’ve been calling it Pop Mart Love, but the three trains at Aikaru China are also popular. So, I’m going up there now. It’s insanely expensive. I wonder how much it costs. I haven’t checked the price. You buy your tickets here. Apparently, the weather’s bad and they can’t go all the way to the top. Some people are getting refunds for their tickets now. It seems you can go partway up. So you can’t go to the top? It’s a little hard to see. The top is 488 meters. So, it’s insanely expensive. So, can I go up to 480m? It’s only 8m, so there’s a difference. With that, if I play 268 games and max out, it’ll be about 400. Let’s buy it now, if I can. They even accept JCB credit cards . AMX Visa Mastercard is amazing. I just bought a ticket for this 488m because they’ve reopened. It’s 328 yen expensive. I bought a ticket anyway . It costs over 6,000 yen. That’s insanely expensive. Well, I bought it for everyone . Let me play it a lot and collect it. Security starts from here. Anyway, I’m inside. I think we’ll be taking the elevator now. I’ve said it many times before, but it’s expensive. I know I shouldn’t be so fussy, but I might never come here again in my life, so I’ll savor it. The air conditioning is working great and it’s cool. As expected, it’s a little hot in Koshu. It’s hot, and I came around evening time at this time of year, so it’s pretty empty. After seeing this tower. I’m hoping to enjoy the night view somewhere else after this, but up ahead, there’s some Japanese. I’m heading to Imamachi for now. I think I’ll have to change trains a few times. So, I got on the elevator. It’s not the kind of elevator where you can see the view outside . It’s packed with people. They’re carrying so many people. It’s packed. Honestly, it’s also really loud. Their voices are super loud. I wonder why everyone’s so loud. Taiwanese and Japanese people aren’t that loud. It ‘s always strange that ethnic groups are loud, but I don’t think their language is that different. 43.2m here, wow. That’s impressive. It’s already high enough, but we’re going even higher. Let’s take a look at the view from here. Wow, it ‘s amazing. It’s amazing. It feels like a city. There are all those luxury hotels right in front of me. There was the Conrad, too. Let’s go to 448.8. There are hardly any people on this. It seems to be just the employees. Oh, we’re here. So, from here we have to walk. Stairs. Stairs, huh? Yes. What is this? You can ride this, but, um, it’s separate. It’s probably not included in this ticket, but rather we’re going to this place, which is even higher up . This time it’s stairs. The rain has just stopped, which is good. Also, the number of staff is crazy. There are so many of them. There’s something really scary here. This is amazing. Does it go all the way to the top? This is another separate fee, isn’t it? Oh, amazing. It’s enough from here. The view is so beautiful. But we’re going up a little further. One more elevator. Looking closely, it looks like we can ride this Ferris wheel-like thing we saw earlier. With this ticket . Let’s ride again. Alone. It’s lonely. Let’s go to the top. And so we arrived. At the top. The tower, oh, this is nice. It feels like we have the place to ourselves. There are absolutely no people here. There are an awful lot of staff. Um, I’m the only customer here, but everyone’s really loud. I wish they’d be quieter. This is nice. Nice. The view is amazing. It’s noisy. I wish they’d stop talking so loudly next to me. Hey, it was so noisy, so I asked them to be quieter. It’s nice. It’s a big city after all. It’s a little foggy like this, though. Looking at the view, the rain has stopped, and as long as it stops for just this moment, I don’t mind it continuing to rain. Yes. It looked like this. Looks like I can ride this too, with my ticket. Apparently I can’t ride that one with this ticket. But it looks like I can ride this one. It was a separate fee after all. So I’ll pass. Oh well, that’s good enough. I’ve seen it. Let’s get off then. Wherever I go, I’m always accompanied by a small child, and they ‘re usually pretty noisy. I think it’s fate. Wherever I go. So, I’m thinking about going for dinner now. Speaking of Koshu, as I said earlier, the food is delicious, but there’s something called Koshu Yamucha, a Tianjin-style Yamucha dish, I think? It’s a dream, so of course I love it, so I’m going to have some. Also, you know, someone’s going to steal my lighter. When you go to a place like this, they just told you to take this from here, to get it yourself, but oh, I got it. Great. So, this is a shopping mall called Bing. Oh, it’s there. I’m not going to the Slot Machine, though. I’m going to the Yamucha restaurant inside. There’s a Sushi Ro, but there’s also a Saizeriya. I’m not sure. Yes. I’m going to this restaurant. Oh, this is it. So I went inside. I’ve already ordered, but, um, the changfen I wanted to eat is apparently already sold out. So, um, they had red changfen, um, but not white changfen. Oh well, I’ll just have the red. I also ordered a few other things at random . This restaurant is a chain, after all, and it ‘s a place I’ve eaten at in Beijing before. Um, I didn’t take a video, but um, it’s pretty expensive . I think it’s a high-end restaurant, but the prices aren’t written on it. This one is written on it, but the menu from earlier wasn’t written on it, um, it was the type that was written on paper and handed to you, but it’s not bad. Um, I’d like to eat it without worrying about the price. And this is tea. Is it tea? Hot water? Oh, it’s tea. Yes. I don’t think they charged me for this. I’m sure they wash the dishes with tea. So I came here. This red powder is my favorite of the Tiansheng dishes I’ve eaten in China . Seriously, it’s the best. I’m happy to be eating it in the original place. Well, it’s the Chien branch. And these are, well, shrimp dumplings. And this is, uh, bean tofu. And it’s some kind of fashion fruit. I also ordered fried rice. Yes. Well, this is a really big portion. It looks delicious. And then there’s the fried rice. This fried rice looks good too. It looks incredibly delicious. It’s kind of shiny. So, in the spirit of work and friendship, I’m looking forward to it. From now on, I’ll just follow them and talk about how small and beautiful it is. It’s some kind of shrimp. The lady next to me is laughing out loud. If you come to China, you should definitely try this red thing, which you can also find in Hong Kong. Is it really delicious? Yeah. I think your concept of heavenly flesh will change once you try this long fried rice. It’s not really found in Japan. This red thing. Why is this red? Well, it’s made from rice flour crepes and then shrimp is wrapped around it , but this one is made with red rice called Akamai. It has something crunchy inside, and also shrimp, and the taste is simple, but incredibly delicious. Then there’s the piping hot shrimp shima, or shrimp dumplings. They’re huge. I wonder why this place is so delicious. I think they probably only use shrimp. So delicious. I also ate a huge amount of this chiha. So delicious. It’s so delicious. I ca n’t believe they can make it so fluffy, and there’s probably egg, green onion, and shrimp inside. It’s simple, but the ingredients are so finely packed. Fried rice tastes better when the ingredients are so finely packed. It feels like high-end fried rice, with all the ingredients being the same size. It’s a little different from the crunchy, chunky fried rice. So delicious. And finally, this Anjindo. Wow, that looks delicious. Yes. Delicious. Super rich. Yes. I could eat it forever. So, it was super delicious. It’s Okakei. It was 155 yuan including tax, so I guess it’s not that expensive . That tower with over 6,000 yen was even more impressive. Also, it’s a popular restaurant in China, so I think a lot of foreigners will come, so I used Visa Master and JCB as payment methods. So , from here, there’s this big, famous street in Beijing—I think it’s pronounced Beijing-ji? It’s a tourist spot, and I ‘ll stop by there for a bit before heading back to the hotel. This is Uniqlo. And so we’ve arrived. This is the most prosperous part of Gongju, I guess—Beijing Road Walk. It’s like Shibuya in Japan . It’s so glamorous. It’s gotten a lot cooler, and the rain has just stopped, so I thought I’d wander around here. There are lots of restaurants, and Naga’s shop is right in front of me, but it might be nice to eat somewhere like this. I’ve already eaten a bit. There are a lot of young people here. Up ahead , there’s a temple that’s kind of a trendy spot, so I think I’ll go around there for a bit. There are quite a few Japanese people here. Maybe they’re on a tour or something. I didn’t hear much Japanese people talking, though. They came because of a religious group. Well, how can I put it?
