イタリアひとり旅vlog – ヴェネツィアのかわいい島々(ムラーノ・ブラーノ・トルチェッロ)

Hello, my name is Chihiro. Today, I’ll be sharing my island tour around Venice. Venice is located in northern Italy. This time, I’ll be touring Murano, Burano, and Torcello in one day. To get to Murano, I head from F.te Nove Station in the north of Venice. I recommend a 24-hour pass to access all three islands. I took the water bus five times in one day. There’s both indoor and outdoor seating. It’s a 20-minute ride to Murano. Now, let’s depart Venice! I’m so happy that the weather is beautiful. Venice from the north is so colorful and charming! On the way, I pass San Michele Island, a cemetery island . In addition to the cemetery, there are ruins of a monastery and a small church. Finally, I arrive at Murano Island. Murano is a group of seven small islands connected by canals and bridges. It ‘s world-famous for its production of Murano glass (Venetian glass). In the 13th century, the Republic of Venice gathered glass workshops on the island of Murano. Glass brought enormous wealth to the Republic of Venice and supported its economy. In the 13th century, glassmakers were imprisoned on the island to prevent the disclosure of their techniques . In the 15th and 16th centuries, Venetian aristocrats visited the island to escape the hustle and bustle. Even today, it is quieter and less crowded than Venice. We arrived at the Vatrai River, a canal that runs between the islands. This is Murano’s main street. Colorful buildings line the street. The buildings are beautifully reflected in the canal . There are several restaurants along the canal. The buildings are of various shapes and are fun to look at. San Michele Island can be seen from the southern end of the river. The bridge is the best photo spot. Murano glass shops line the canal. They are characterized by their colorful and intricate designs. In addition to tableware, there are various other glass products available. It’s like a glass orchestra. There’s even a Grinch in the Christmas corner. Another unique technique is cutting colorful glass rods to create floral patterns. Another technique involves fusing different colored glass together to create beautiful layers. This is a glass gondola. The connected glass floral patterns are beautiful! The balloons are all glass, too. It’s fun to see all the different glass products. The brick tower is the Clock Tower. It’s a historic tower built in the early 19th century. Next, we headed to the north island. The view from the bridge was spectacular. Feeling hungry, we went to Murano Gelateria. It’s a small shop, but it offers a wide variety of gelato and desserts. I had mango gelato (2.9€). It was smooth and had a strong mango flavor. We walked along the large canal. The view on the opposite bank was beautiful. There were no bridges, so it was difficult to get to the other side. The Virgin Mary was also made of glass. Next, we went to the Glass Museum. Admission was 10€, and we could use our museum pass. First, we went to the central hall. The ceiling painting was beautiful. Three blown-glass chandeliers are lined up. This is a 16th-century enamel-decorated chalice. The blue decoration is lovely. Glass has a history of over 4,000 years. Ancient glass from various regions is on display here. The next room features a glass Italian garden. This decoration was popular in the 18th century. This is gold leaf and glass art. Next is Murano glass from the early 1800s. These are colored sticks used in glassmaking. The colorful designs are beautiful! Next is glass from the late 1800s. Glass shapes gradually become more complex. The glass chicken has detailed feathers! Various trends developed after the war. Next is Murano glass from the 20th century. The colorful glassware is beautiful! Next is an exhibit by Carlo Moretti and Giovanni Moretti, a luxury Murano glass workshop and brand. This innovative style combines traditional Murano glass with a modern, minimalist aesthetic. Calici da Collezione is a glass series introduced in 1990. Each year, new glasses with different themes, colors, and patterns are released. On the upper floors, there are colorful glass rods, also used in beadwork. The museum has a courtyard, a green park perfect for a break. There’s a shop next to the entrance. It was fascinating to see all kinds of glass. We strolled around the northern island until the water bus time arrived. The bridge is arched to allow boats to pass through. Its high elevation offers a spectacular view. The most striking tower is the Church of Santi Maria e Donato. This church was founded in the 7th century. Its architecture blends Byzantine and Romanesque styles. The northern side is quiet, with many residential areas. The house signs and decorations are cute! The restaurant lamps are stylish. Now, we head to the pier. We board the water bus and head to Burano Island. It’s a 30-minute boat ride to Burano. We depart from Murano. We pass Mazzorbo Island on the way. We can see colorful buildings. The pier is congested with boats departing for various destinations. We arrive at Bruno Island. It’s a 40-minute water bus ride from mainland Venice. Burano is a fisherman’s island consisting of four islands. We take a short walk to the center. Burano is famous for its vibrantly colorful buildings. It’s said that fishermen painted their houses so they could find them even in the fog . They look like toy houses and are so cute! The best photo spot is on the bridge. While it’s not uncommon to see a single street colorful, it’s rare to see an entire town colorful, so it’s fun. Everywhere you look, it’s so cute that you can’t help but stop and look. I was hungry, so I went to Tipico J03. They had a light meal, with sandwiches and cicchetti. I had cicchetti (10.5€), a traditional small dish from the Venetian region. The octopus was tomato flavored. The bread was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside—delicious! The cod was creamy. The cappuccino (3€) was sweet and mellow. After eating, we walked toward the sea. Away from the main street, we found a quiet residential area. Being so close to the sea, the walls seemed like they would be damaged by the sea breeze, but they ‘re still in good condition, likely because they’re frequently repainted. There’s a large park in front of the sea. The sea and sky are beautiful. Burano is famous for its lace. It’s famous for merletto, a fine lace woven from fishing nets that originated in the 16th century. Lace products are lined up in the shops. However, the lace products on display there are imported. Since no two houses are the same color, you can enjoy a variety of scenery. The colors of the fabrics are all the same, which makes it stylish. We arrived at a bustling square. Next, we went to the Lace Museum. This building was originally a lace school. The museum displays lace from the 16th to 20th centuries. In the early days, lace was used to decorate women’s clothing, such as shirt necklines. In the 17th century, they began to be used to decorate men’s and children’s clothing. In the 18th century, they began to depict plants and animals. It’s amazing how detailed they are and how hand-knitted they are! Lace was woven on chairs like this one. Here’s a photo of a lace school from that time. The Disney embroidery is adorable! ♡ This is a wedding veil from around 1930. There are also three-dimensional lace pieces. It seems you can even create pictures with lace. We finish our visit with a map of European lace. Then, we head back to town. Next, we head to Trexento, a gelato shop. They have a wide selection of gelatos and sweets, from fruit to milk. I had the lemon and stracciatella (6€). It was a sweet lemon and smooth milk gelato. After our meal, we continued exploring Burano. The cats are adorable! Walking the side streets is also fun. Not only are the walls colorful, but the window frames are colorful, too. We discovered another cute space! Everything is just too cute from top to bottom. The residential area has a lived-in feel. There are no shops outside the center, but just walking around is fun. This time, we came here on a day trip from Venice, but it would probably be fun to stay overnight. We’re back in the center. Restaurants and cafes line the canals. All the restaurants were busy at lunchtime. After touring the island, we returned to the pier. Next, we headed to Torcello Island. The pier was located away from the boat pier to Venice. The water bus was a newer, different type than the ones we’d seen before. It took five minutes to get from Burano to Torcello. Now, let’s depart Burano! We arrived at Torcello Island. From the pier, we walked along the canal. Torcello Island has a longer history than Venice, having been settled since around 452 AD. In the Middle Ages, it flourished as a trading city with a population of over 20,000. However, due to malaria epidemics, swamping, and environmental changes, the residents gradually left. Since the 15th century, the island has declined, and its current population is only about 20 people. There are only a church and a few restaurants on the island. After a 10-minute walk, we arrived at the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta. This 7th-century church is made of white marble and features ancient Byzantine-style architecture. Inside, you’ll find Byzantine mosaics from the 11th to 13th centuries. The entrance fee for the church and tower is 9 euros, but photography is not permitted inside the church. After seeing the church, head to the bell tower. Built in the 11th century, it’s one of Venice’s oldest bell towers. There’s no elevator; you must climb on foot. At first, you’ll climb a ramp instead of stairs. You can see the interior of the building while you’re climbing. At the end, you’ll climb the stairs. The bells are lined up on the observation deck. You can enjoy a 360-degree panorama from the observation deck. On the west side is the church. The only buildings visible are around the church. The lagoon is beautiful. To the south is Burano Island, which we visited earlier. It ‘s colorful and charming even from above! It was quite windy on the observation deck. After enjoying the view, we headed back down the stairs. The bell tower was relatively quiet, allowing us to relax. You can also enjoy the view from the windows along the way. We returned to the bottom. Next to it is Santa Fosca Church. We also visited the Torcello Provincial Museum. The Medieval and Early Modern section displays documents and artworks from the 6th to 19th centuries. We also saw mosaics and murals excavated from around the island. There was a stall in front of the church with cute paintings! Now, we walked the same path back to the pier. From Torcello, we returned to Venice via Burano. Each of the three islands we visited today had its own unique character and atmosphere, which was fun. Of the three, the colorful Burano was my favorite. This concludes today’s video. Thank you for watching until the end.
