Vol.164 [4K]
Hello! This is E-Ma. I’m at Lake Suwa in Nagano Prefecture. This is the second part of my three-day, two-night trip to Nagano. In my last video, I visited the four shrines of Suwa Taisha, visiting the harumiya and akimiya of the shimosya. If you haven’t seen it yet, please check it out! (*’▽’) I plan to visit the remaining two shrines in the afternoon, but I’ll also stop by some tourist spots along the way. I see a large sign for “Takeya Miso.” This isn’t my destination… But I was attracted by the words “Direct Sales from the Storehouse,” so I decided to stop by! (´ー`) They offer samples of various miso. Next to the shop is a restaurant serving miso ramen and soft-serve ice cream made with Takeya miso. Mitsuko Mori saw me off! (´ー`) My real destination is across the road from the parking lot. I wanted to see the powerful geyser, but it seems like it’s not currently erupting at a high level. (´Д`) It smells like sulfur! (´ー`). Geyser-boiled eggs are 100 yen each. I bought one as soon as I heard the announcement over the in-house announcement, “The eggs are ready.” (*’▽’). Delicious! (*’▽’). Photography was prohibited on the second and third floors, so I don’t have a video, but the “Suwa Filming Location Review Exhibition” was well worth seeing. They have my favorite foot bath. (*’▽’). Is it too hot? It’s lukewarm, just right for summer. (´ー`). We took a 20-minute drive from the Geyser Center. made another detour before heading to Suwa Taisha Shrine. Here, you can learn about fermentation culture, experience fermentation, and enjoy fermented foods. (*’▽’). Behind the shop, there’s a miso storehouse that’s open to the public. Large miso barrels are lined up in the dimly lit storehouse. Among them, there’s one barrel with a light shining from inside. “Doburokuma” (Doburokuma Bear) carrying a “Kumamon” eco-bag. I thought it was a fat kappa (*´艸`). Next to the storehouse is the Onbashira Museum. It displays photographs and historical documents from the Onbashira Festival, a traditional event held once every seven years. Behind the Onbashira Museum is the Binbougami Shrine. It was actually the reason I came to Fermentation Park to see this shrine (^▽^;). Apparently, there’s a poverty god there who likes grilled miso (*´艸`). I’ll try praying according to the proper way to pray (´ー`). Put in 100 yen for the beans. Hold the “Binbougami stick.” Hit the sacred tree three times. Kick the sacred tree three times. Finally, throw the beans at the deity once. Apparently, poverty isn’t about not having money; it’s the poor in spirit who are the poorest. I hope we always have a rich heart (´ー`). If we had time, it would have been fun to try making miso (´ー`). Continuing our tour of the four Suwa Taisha shrines, this time we’ll visit the Kamisha. Of the four shrines, Maemiya is the only one that has a main hall. To get there, you have to walk about seven minutes up a flight of stairs and slopes from the first torii gate you pass through. In cooler months, it would be possible to walk, but… Considering my physical strength, I decided to drive to the parking lot near the main hall. It was quite an uphill climb, so driving was the right choice. (^▽^;) Maemiya is the place where the enshrined deity, Takeminakata-no-Kami, is said to have first settled. It is said to be the birthplace of Suwa faith. I was also able to see the onbashira at Shimosha, which I visited last time. Maemiya is the only place where you can see all four onbashira up close. Starting from the right front of the main hall, they are named “Ichi-no-Onbashira,” “Ni-no-Onbashira,” “San-no-Onbashira,” and “Yon-no-Onbashira” in a clockwise direction. The clear waters of the famous “Mizugan” waters are so pure they will cleanse your soul. Now, let’s head to the final shrine, the Honmiya. Souvenir shops and restaurants line the approach from the main parking lot to the large torii gate. Myojinyu. The water basin here is piping hot because it’s a hot spring (^▽^;). A life-size statue of Raiden, a famous sumo wrestler from Shinshu who was active during the Edo period. I wondered why there was a sumo wrestler statue in such a place… Sumo rituals have been held at Suwa Taisha Shrine since ancient times. Even today, the “Jugoya Festival Dedication Sumo” is held every year on September 15th. Eleven young sumo wrestlers, wearing decorative mawashi, form a circle and perform a traditional sumo dance. The main shrine, too, is built in the Suwa-zukuri style, without a main hall. Nunobashi Bridge stretches about 70 meters to the east approach. Until the Meiji Restoration, only the Ōhori (celebrators of the upper shrine) crossed this bridge. It was named Nunobashi Bridge because a cloth was laid there at the time. Just across Nunobashi Bridge, we found the Nino-Onbashira. I plan to walk around it from the outside on my way back. The road was closed due to restoration work on the Important Cultural Property. So, I headed to the hotel. We arrived (*’▽’). Room 413. Let’s check in. We often stay at Route Inn, which is located in most tourist areas. It’s conveniently located and reasonably priced, which is nice (´ー`). It’s a bit worn… It has everything you need, and in addition to the bath in the room, there’s also a large hot spring bath (*’▽’). There’s a self-service cafe corner in the lobby. There’s also a microwave. I’m off for an early dinner. I tried the miso tempura bowl for 990 yen, which is said to be a Suwa specialty (´ー`). The sweet and salty miso sauce goes perfectly with the tempura (*’▽’). It’s already this late after dinner (;・∀・). I’m planning to watch the sunset at a park on a hill. There’s a traffic jam (>_<). The traffic jam caused by people waiting for parking made for a long time, so we couldn't move forward. I was the only one who got out of the car and walked. This is a sacred place for the hugely popular anime "Your Name," so even on a weekday, there were so many tourists. The word "kataware-toki" (cutoff time) was used in the anime to describe this evening twilight. (´ー`) Finally, I met up with Ma and we went up to the Clock Tower Observatory. From here, we could get a good view of Lake Suwa and the Suwa cityscape. The view from the bottom of the stairs was even better. The night view was also beautiful. (´ー`) We returned to the shore of Lake Suwa. The reason there were so many people there at this time of night was because the fireworks were about to be launched. (≧▽≦) The "Lake Suwa Summer Night Fireworks 2025" is a 10-minute fireworks event that will be held every night from 8:30 PM from July 25th to August 25th. The fireworks were accompanied by beautiful music. It was a wonderful summer evening. (´ー`) The next video will be the third and final day of our three-day, two-night trip to Nagano. I hope this video will be of some use to you. If you enjoyed it, please give it a thumbs up, hype it up, and subscribe to the channel! I look forward to your opinions and comments too (´ー`). Thank you for watching until the end. Please look forward to the next one~(^_^)/~
