月20万円でほんとに暮らせるの!? 英語力ゼロ親子が行く移住者殺到のポルトガルの現実!

A trip to Portugal, which ranks in the top 3 countries to immigrate to in Europe This country, where it is said that you can semi-retire in Europe with a monthly income of 160,000 yen, has the advantages of a mild climate, a comfortable lifestyle, and low living costs in its regional cities In particular, beautiful port towns like Algarve and Cacais along the coast are said to allow for comfortable living at a cost of 150,000 to 200,000 yen per month, including living expenses There are also stories that you can live comfortably for between 150,000 and 200,000 yen a month Moreover, the Portuguese cuisine made with fresh fish caught from the sea is delicious There are also advantages to the food culture There are many stylish cafes, and it’s easy to communicate in English Moreover, the safety is rated very high, as it is among the top class in Europe Additionally, the country is said to have a well-developed environment for raising children with both public and private international schools, so this time I’m traveling with my daughter My daughter and I can’t speak English at all Despite that, we want to move freely without using the tour However, we are right in the midst of the near future of 2025 I hope you enjoy watching my daughter and me as we embark on our journey, honing our skills using AI tools By the way, I will meet up with Japanese people living in the area I plan to research how they actually feel about living here I’m going to the dryer for a bit, so stay here Do you think this amount will dry in an hour? I hope it’s available Oh, it’s available, it’s available This will dry If it’s this big Um…? I don’t… I don’t understand. How to use it What is difficult to understand when traveling abroad is the local script In such cases, you can use Google Translate: select the local language, tap on camera input, and simply hold your smartphone over the text you want to translate for real-time translation Sazan is 9 euros, that’s expensive Ah, here it comes, here it comes, hey Siri, time me for 40 minutes Relying entirely on eating out during a long trip can be expensive and can also lead to health issues I will also cook for myself while continuing my journey I’m trying to find accommodations with a kitchen as much as possible Wow, it’s really beautiful Aren’t you checking out? I already checked out You haven’t told anyone? You know, it’s just an automatic checkout as is Here we go Here we are, arriving at the bus stop The bus arrived 10 minutes early I guess this is it, so I feel like trying it out a bit When moving I really felt it was difficult when using buses and trains Since it was written in Portuguese, I was basically in a situation where I had no idea what was written on the bus boards At first, I was researching various things using ChatGPT and Google, but it was a time loss Also, it took an incredible amount of effort So you’ve been feeling stressed, huh? So when I made asking people my first option, my travels went really smoothly It’s really daunting to approach locals when English isn’t understood abroad, but once you try it, you gradually get used to it and it becomes second nature to ask As a result, I felt like I had shed a layer and became a bit more confident I remember that from there, the journey suddenly became a lot more enjoyable I think my daughter probably felt this as well Yes, we have arrived in Coimbra This is Coimbra, right? Should we take a taxi or walk for 30 minutes? Either one is fine with me Make your own decision During the trip, my daughter developed a strong fear not only of buses but also of taxi rides The taxis in Portugal have very sudden starts and stops, which made me really carsick I’ve encountered scenes like this several times during this journey There were times when I somewhat forcibly made them get on As a result, it ended up creating a parent-child hierarchy, which I realized wasn’t good I started to feel really good about it halfway through When we arrived in Coimbra, I suggested the option of walking for 30 minutes if we weren’t going to take a ride, and asked which one was better I let my daughter choose To be honest, from a parent’s perspective, Of course, a taxi would be the best option, I had decided to go along with my daughter if she said she wanted to walk What I was thinking at that time was, Because I’m drunk… It gets more uncomfortable when I walk… I was really troubled Are you going by taxi? OK! It seems that the address is a bit off, regarding the accommodation I was told that I can only go this far It turned out that we had to walk a little from there I think they said something like we could get there in about 2 minutes of walking… Are you okay? I’m drunk… I really don’t want to ride… Huh? Completely different from Japan I don’t know… Huh?… This way? No, it’s hard to understand Hey, watch out for the car, the car is dangerous! It’s a super narrow road Cars are zooming by, it’s scary At first glance, it looks like the security is bad, doesn’t it? I wonder how it is I feel like it’s better not to walk during a slightly dark time Wow, this is a really niche place! It’s around here, though Thank you for your hard work Huh? I was told, ‘Thank you for your hard work.’ This might be the place Ah, it’s open! Oh? I’m tired here… Oh, wow, that’s great! Ah, that’s really good! That’s really great! This accommodation is 60 euros per night for one room, and it includes a kitchen The bathroom and toilet are not shared The location was great, close to the tourist area, and it was a good choice of accommodation If you look for something cheaper, it will be quite far from the tourist area Also, the bathroom and toilet will be shared If you’re not somewhat experienced with traveling, it can be quite challenging to stay at these accommodations Most of the accommodations were not really recommended for traveling with children Information about a monthly income of 160,000 yen in Portugal circulated on social media However, doubts have arisen regarding the accuracy of this information As a personal travel experience Putting aside the homework, eating out is expensive There was almost no chance of eating for less than 1000 yen even for lunch I want to verify the consistency with the cost of living, so I’m thinking of going to see the price levels in Coimbra, the third city of Portugal Since you said you won’t go, I’ll go by myself It’s really lively It’s a student town There are a lot of young people, after all Also, there are many stylish people It feels like there has been a significant increase in the variety of races all at once It’s just that I don’t meet any Asians at all Wow, what is this? Café Restaurant Ah, this is it, this is a supermarket Oh, there are things like eggplants Oh, that happens quite often, doesn’t it? Oh, they also sell ginger individually, don’t they? It’s 4.9 euros for this, right? While ginger is about 870 yen per kg, Japanese ginger currently ranges from 1500 to 2000 yen per kg For example, bell peppers are also 2.99 euros per kg In Japan, the market price is around 1000 yen, compared to about 520 yen I had the impression that vegetables were cheaper in Coimbra, Portugal Also, alcohol is overwhelmingly cheaper in Portugal Since it’s Europe, wine is incredibly cheap Also, beer here is called SUPER BOCK, which is similar to Asahi in Japan It’s a beer brand with very high sales overall A 500ml can costs about 230 yen I think beer is about the same as in Japan Also, other types of meat are quite cheap, except for beef This 200 grams of pork belly costs 1.63 euros, so the meat is quite cheap On the contrary, I felt that fish was very expensive Not only in this coin bra, but I also have the impression that seafood is very expensive in the town of Nazaré we visited last time, regardless of being by the sea In terms of safety, it seems like people are generally okay Hello First of all, both Japan and Portugal have a homicide rate of less than 1 in 100,000 Japan is among the lowest-ranked countries in the world, but Portugal also falls into a low group within Europe Looking at the numbers, both are in a safe zone where daily life can be lived normally Moreover, Coimbra is said to be an even safer city recently According to the annual security report from the Portuguese government, there are reports that the Coimbra area has the largest decrease in crime across the country From my experience, it feels like this The central area during the day and night felt very walkable It seems that this is due to an increase in police patrols and enhanced monitoring It is said that the noticeable patrols, especially in the city center, around universities, and tourist spots, may have had a deterrent effect Coimbra is also a university city, home to many students and academics It is said that the strong sense of community and collaboration with such groups fosters the power of vigilance However, one should be cautious of the back alleys As expected, when you enter places like this, you can really feel the suspicious atmosphere unique to the city There are a lot of people who look a bit like dealers, is that okay? Which way, which way, which way? Straight ahead, straight ahead Straight, straight In reality, I was asked things like whether drugs are necessary, so I think basic preventive measures are essential Taking measures against pickpockets in crowded places, and choosing well-lit streets at night As expected, avoid entering back alleys If you pay attention to such things, Coimbra feels like a wonderful city where students can enjoy a sense of calm and security In fact, it is said that Coimbra was once the capital of Portugal This city, which houses a university on a hill, boasts one of the most distinguished histories of academia in Europe As I walked through the streets, I saw many students wearing black cloaks There was an atmosphere that reminded me of Harry Potter By the way, there’s an interesting custom where female students bite off the hem of the cloak of male students they have feelings for, and this tradition is said to still exist It seems to be evidence that students with many gaps have been more popular since the time of King Dinis It’s an amazing sense of openness Wow, that’s amazing It’s an impressive atmosphere, isn’t it? Founded in 1308, this university at the heart of Coimbra continues to undergo meticulous restoration, preserving its beautiful appearance for centuries The view of the Hat Room from this corridor was particularly impressive Even now, it is This is used in ceremonies for conferring degrees It’s between these hats Originally, it was a court hall built in the 17th century, with portraits of the Portuguese kings hanging on the walls I was talking with my daughter about something After all, this portrait has a rather eerie atmosphere There is definitely a somewhat creepy vibe to it I used to think that it was the very essence of a cruel history It seems that not smiling was considered the norm Unique expressions can be seen in sculptures and decorations For example, there are statues without heads or with missing parts like this It seems that some were damaged during wars or over time It is said that there was also an intentional expression symbolizing the transience of humanity in this When people see sculptures that have lost important parts like the neck or arms, they naturally feel that the human body is fragile and that life is not eternal It serves as a reminder of the reality that people inevitably decline and ultimately fade away, urging us to cherish the fact that we are living in the present I see Also, there are statues with long backs like this Here, the creativity regarding the forms of strange beings passed down from ancient times and thoughts about aliens are expressed Statues that combine somewhat eerie animals and humans are said to symbolize vice and desire, expressing the human inner self and the power of nature in an allegorical way In other words, humans want to be wise and rational, but at the same time, they wanted to express that they also possess animalistic aspects such as desires and violence What is embedded in overseas and sculptures The strange and mysterious motif is not aimed at fear, but rather at belief and aesthetics It is said to be an expression crystallized by the weight of history And one piece of gourmet information I visited a few shops in Coimbra as well, What particularly stood out to me was this shop By chance, this one too I asked a local and found this shop From what I could see, there were zero tourists The shop was almost completely filled with locals This is a local specialty This is the pork mouth, right? This was incredibly delicious Yum! This is delicious! The outside is crispy Fluffy in the middle, fluffy in the middle What is this? Hehe Grilled chicken skewers have a crispy skin and a juicy inside, don’t they? The crispiness of the chicken skin completely envelops the meat, so you can start eating from anywhere Paris! A series of wow! This was a deliciousness I’ve truly never tasted before I’m really full, right? 15.1. Super cheap Incredibly delicious The prices are reasonable After all, it’s the essence of travel Delicious local restaurants really boost your spirits To return to the topic here, regarding Coimbra, the cost of living is and dining out is quite delicious as well, and I found that you can eat very well for a reasonable price I don’t know the market rates for high utility costs and rent, though It seemed possible to keep living expenses reasonable even in Portugal, Europe Suddenly, everyone Just for the next three and a half minutes Let me introduce my partner who supported me on this journey For example, the information about the local restaurant from earlier Information I happened to hear from a local resident I’m sure many of you have had similar experiences in your personal lives or during your travels Information is life during travel We received the 16.6g PLAUD NotePin from Proud this time Note pin This is a next-generation AI voice recorder, and while it may seem like just a voice recorder… Evolve to a capable secretary level It was an incredibly useful item Tap the button the moment the old man’s story begins Then the red lamp will light up This starts the recording Just listen to the old man’s story with a relaxed expression, and you’ll be fine You can record for free up to 300 minutes per month The reason I recommend this is right here Actually, this is a system where it automatically transfers after you launch the app at your preferred timing after the recording is finished In other words, there is absolutely no need to launch the app when you are recording The moment you think you need this information, recording will start with one tap and no time lag And the recorded audio can be sped up to twice the speed There is something called AI speech enhancement This allows you to eliminate surrounding noise and make only the other person’s voice or your own voice stand out It becomes incredibly easy to hear So, for example, when you have a Zoom meeting online, just placing it like this in front of your computer is enough The voice of the other person coming from the computer With this AI speech enhancement, it becomes possible to record very clearly Furthermore, by tapping this button, it will perfectly transcribe as well I felt that this accuracy is quite high, and of course, this transcribed text can be copied to the clipboard by tapping it, so it’s possible to paste it into LINE or something and send it to someone Well, actually, I… I’ve really come to like this a lot since I received it, to the point that I use it daily I’m not saying this just because it’s a project, but thanks to this, our efficiency has greatly improved Actually, the PLAUD app is developed based on the latest AI model When you generate with this automatic application, you can actually use what you just recorded AI analyzes independently and summarizes it in an extremely easy-to-understand way I think this is really amazing, but it was taught to me by an older guy Recommended customizations for Ramen Shoryu And the journey from Shoryu to get on the Setagaya Line, Recommended menu items and ways to enjoy them at restaurants along the Setagaya Line, You summarize it clearly in bullet points, don’t you? I used to have a habit of jotting down ideas and outlines that came to me when making videos on paper This started after I got this By roughly discussing ideas and outlines with just the push of a button and having the AI summarize them, my efficiency has greatly increased For example, if students record all their classes, I think their study efficiency will greatly improve when they summarize later I believe the same can be said for meetings as well Moreover, it can also create mind maps I haven’t even come close to using it all It still has many features, such as identifying the person speaking, supporting 112 languages, and automatically formatting recorded conversations into paragraphs By the way, there is also a paid version Analyze conversations with AskAI to understand the other person’s feelings and nuances It seems that AI will suggest what to do next I realized how remarkable the progress of the times is I felt this again with this item In the end, the person you are interested in will probably be on your mind I was wondering about the electromagnetic waves since it’s worn on the chest, so I did a little measurement It was zero I think this is quite highly rated Personally, I believe that It seems that there is a limited-time coupon available now that can give you up to 25% off If you’re interested, please check the description below Now, let’s return to the main content It smells like garlic now, doesn’t it? It has come, hasn’t it? Ready, set, go! Oh! Whoa! Hoo! I did it! Amazing! It’s rice! Dad is moved Let’s eat! It looks delicious Mmm! Yes, yes, yes! Delicious! So delicious! Yeah, yeah So delicious! So delicious! The way the eggs are cooked is perfect, thank you! Hmm Come on, let’s go in here Ah, be careful. The older sister is coming in That’s dangerous Thank you very much. Thank you very much Come on in Okay, thank you Obrigado Thank you There you go Thank you Obligard Thank you Oh, it’s been a while! Yocchi How have you been? Hey! It’s been a while! It’s been a really long time Oh, Riyo, Gen… you’ve grown up, haven’t you? So, this time, the one who joined us is this man Actually, he is my childhood friend of 30 years It turns out he has moved to Portugal This time, we managed to meet up here in Coimbra You really moved, huh? It’s Portugal, right? That’s amazing, you guys Moreover, she actually has a car The daughter who used to rely on buses and taxis was also very happy about this It seems they are also on vacation now So, we decided to tag along a bit and travel together There’s nothing easier than this How long has it been since you moved? 4 months Got a car in 4 months Yeah I think driving in Portugal over here is quite difficult, but what do you think? What is this again? This name, the one for this circle Roundabout Everyone, please take a look So it runs right down the middle lane A car is coming from this side right now This is the timing for the car to come in, right? Now, when I move to the right side, I have to make sure to look over here while turning right, and I need to do this while looking at the car navigation system You won’t put this in, right? You won’t put it in, huh? You won’t put it in, huh? Surprisingly, this kind of place isn’t very kind, is it? People are really kind, though I have the impression that they will definitely help you if you’re in trouble, but so far… What about that? Portuguese people are really kind Someone who comes to help as soon as I’m in trouble Yeah We’re going to an amazing place, it’s going to be exciting! Anything is fine Well, we just passed each other, but basically, there are very few police, right? Few What about drinking and driving over here? Drunk driving is okay up to two drinks Really? Really? Two drinks should be fine, right? Is that an implicit feeling? It’s already part of the culture I drink wine at lunch I will spend about 2 hours for lunch I see, that’s just a normal thing And of course, I’ll go to work So everyone just drinks normally and drives their cars Just being normal There are so many scenes that would be unimaginable in Japan Loose and relaxed Neun 300 yen per liter? Does it really cost 300 yen per liter? I think it’s over 300 yen The cost of living is about 1.5 times that of Japan, along with gasoline and (???) Prices are also high 37 liters for 12,000 yen? Yeah The family lives in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal He says that upon entering Portugal, he is acutely aware of the high prices and cost of living There were stories circulating on social media that one could live on around 200,000 yen He says that is absolutely not the case It seems that rents in Portugal are skyrocketing due to the current real estate bubble This trip Since I’m going to Lisbon last, I want to see various things So, that’s why I came here this time Aveiro, the Venice of Portugal This city, known as the Venice of Portugal, is about a 40-minute drive from Coimbra, where I was earlier, and is famous for its canals and colorful boats It’s quite lively there I can really feel the amazing energy There are quite a few interesting shops scattered around A journey on a Moriseiro boat that leisurely moves along the river, passing under buildings and bridges on both banks It feels as if I’ve wandered into the middle of a story It’s incredibly beautiful, isn’t it? This is a beautiful futsal court, isn’t it? This is really beautiful I guess it feels great to be able to play soccer here It definitely has a strong sense of being a tourist spot Aveiro, with its landscapes featuring water right next to this way of life, seems to be very popular as a place to live Ah, nice! What do you think about this place? Yeah Because of the sea breeze It has a nice atmosphere This is the best! And along the coast of Costa Nova, there are rows of uniquely colorful buildings It all started with… It is said that it was a shed built to store fishing tools It is said that it eventually transformed into its current form, changing into various residences, vacation homes, and shops At first, it was just a simple wooden floor It is said that it was later reborn as such a colorful wooden house This color, you see, is not just for decoration; it is said to have been passed down to make it easier to distinguish one’s house or place even from the sea It gives the impression that this place is really well maintained There are surprisingly many public restrooms here as well It’s beautiful Very Abeiro has really exceeded my expectations a bit, and I think it’s a good feeling Wow, that’s amazing! It’s fresh fish, isn’t it? As expected of a fishing town The market is really lively, isn’t it? It’s still alive, isn’t it? There are so many camper vans, aren’t there? This is a free parking lot Ah, I see So I wonder if they’re camping in their car here, maybe And Aveiro is a popular car camping spot in Europe There were so many camper vans while walking around the city That’s amazing! I’ve never seen so many different campers before After all, the form and… this The design is cool, isn’t it? After all, the overseas version is really cool! That’s nice Is this transport? This is cool, isn’t it? Yes, I’ve got the bicycle loaded in the back Hey, I want to do it a little more again Living in a camper van Seeing travelers from all over Europe spending happy times with their families and pets while camping by the beautiful seaside, this is the European camper van lifestyle I felt that I would like to realize it someday Thank you very much Oh, nice Oh, nice Nice, nice, nice Now, I would like to touch on the cost aspect of this city a bit This time, the accommodation is through Airbnb I booked it on the day of my stay The layout is 2LDK and it comes with two bathrooms The kitchen comes with all appliances including a washing machine It was 29,844 yen for 2 nights In other words, it will be about 15,000 yen for one family I think it’s a very cost-effective accommodation at around 7,000 yen per night However, it was a bit more expensive until the day of booking So, it seems that Airbnb is best for the morning of the day itself I had the impression that discounts often made things cheaper Regarding the accommodation, I felt it was slightly cheaper than in Coimbra You’ve entered the supermarket, right? The freshness of the vegetables is… really good, isn’t it? Incredibly good vegetables are super great I see You type it yourself About 200 yen That’s right I’m good at this Is it called salted cod? It smells amazing here You often see this over here Look, everything is pickled in salt It’s Tara And Seafood, you know? It’s a bit expensive, for some reason That’s intense… what is this? It’s a rabbit, right? This is a rabbit, everyone (??? That’s amazing! And this is it, the amount of wine is still outrageous as ever It’s an ordinary supermarket, but… The wine selection is amazing There’s just a bit of whiskey around here Whiskey, gin, and so on Wine is cheap, isn’t it? It’s really cheap It’s delicious, isn’t it? It’s really delicious after all The price is still… Very It’s become reasonable Benri Super convenient This kind of thing is definitely different, isn’t it? Yeah There’s really nothing like that No, not really And the time is 7:30 PM Still, it’s this brightness, you know The city is illuminated by the lights of stores and street lamps turning orange It’s really lively here Well, it’s a weekday Not yet, this I wonder if they are locals? It has a bit of a local drinking party vibe, though Wow, it’s really bustling, isn’t it? It’s a huge crowd There are absolutely no Asians The store I visited in the midst of all that is This is the store called Porta Treta e Seis, right? It seems to be a bit local-oriented and is a restaurant that locals also frequent So, what I had here is this thing called black pasta It’s black noodles made with squid ink The flavor is truly deep and packed with umami Everyone was raving about this And another shocking thing is this It seems to be called craft-baked tuna The tuna, which is coated with sesame seeds and baked to a fragrant finish, is well-coated with tomato sauce, making it refreshing yet rich in flavor, and surprisingly pairs incredibly well with red wine despite being seafood The bill was about 17,000 yen It’s definitely not a cheap place, but it’s one of the restaurants where I had a very delicious meal And another place I visited is this bistro called Tertulia It’s based on traditional Portuguese cuisine, using local ingredients and seafood It was a casual and comfortable space that offered a menu that incorporated this well, and I could really feel the local vibe there And there were outdoor seats as well The service was also quite friendly The children were also very happy Here in Portugal, it is very popular and loved by everyone This is what we call cooking It seems to be called Francesinha Actually, this is layered with ham, sausage, steak, and hamburger on bread Pour hot tomato and spicy beer-based sauce generously over the cheese from above This is a hearty meal that is said to easily exceed 2000 calories Chilled beer Alternatively, it seems that the way to enjoy this is with red wine So, thank you for the meal No, it was delicious Moreover, it was cheap, wasn’t it? I think the exchange rate feels quite cheap at 75 euros in Portugal It’s Portugal tomorrow It feels like we’re moving to a new city again I think I’ll take a walk in the evening Abeyro I have fallen ill Are you okay? I’ve been feeling a bit nauseous since this morning, and it seems like my fever is rising now Wow I was also taking pictures of the accommodations in Porto today Hmm… Ah, here it comes Next time, the final chapter of the Portugal family trip in Porto And then we will head to the capital, Lisbon
