Susaki Jinja/Sunosaki Jinja
Susaki Shrine is where Minamoto no Yoritomo, who fled to Awa after losing the Battle of Ishibashiyama, prayed for victory. The shrine attracts believers as the guardian deity of safe childbirth, safe voyages, good catches, bountiful harvests, and good luck.
The main hall is designated as a tangible cultural property by Tateyama City.
In addition, because it overlooks the entrance to Tokyo Bay, it is said that many votive plaques dedicated by boatmen praying for safe voyages were found at Susaki Shrine until before the war.
A magnificent view awaits you when you climb the 150 steps from behind the Zuishinmon Gate. Also, on days with good weather and clear air, you can see Mt. Fuji through the torii gate on the beach.
