【スイスひとり旅②】 スイストラベルパスで鉄道旅。マッターホルンを見に行く!交通費も食費も想像以上!景色はプライスレス! チューリッヒ〜ゴルナーグラード展望台の行き方。50代1人旅

Good morning! I’m currently at Zurich Central Station in Switzerland. It’s 7:45 AM. Today is September 24th, 7:18 AM. I’m heading toward Zurich Central Station. The navigation system is leading me down a path that seems to be inside a building . It’s right near the station. I walked so much yesterday , but the train finally arrived. I think it might be a freight train. The train was a little delayed, but it arrived safely. I think I’ll be okay. There’s a bakery at the station. I haven’t had breakfast yet, so I think I should buy some here. I guess it’s okay to eat on the train. I want to eat it here, but I do n’t want to get lost and miss my destination, so I’ll just buy some and go . I think I’ll go with this. It looks like you can pick it up yourself, so I bought some. Today’s breakfast. The first thing I saw was the one I didn’t know, but they said “gracche,” which is Italian. Switzerland. I wonder where the platform is? I found a delicious chocolate shop on a busy street. Speaking of Switzerland, chocolate. I got Lindt chocolate on the plane, and it looks delicious. It’s autumn, so they’re offering chestnut flavors. I’m curious about this stick chocolate . Google Navigation says it’s on platform 31, so I’m heading there. However, the bus stop may change, so I’ll be careful. There was a cafe here too. I could have eaten here . This Coop seems to be a major supermarket in Zurich. Chain stores vary by country, but in Switzerland, it seems to be a Coop . It should be below. I’m currently at Zurich Central Station, Switzerland. It’s 7:45 AM. I’ll be taking the 8:03 AM train and connecting trains to Zermatt , where the Matterhorn is located, at the base of the mountain. This trip to Switzerland was originally decided on short notice, but while researching, I saw a video of someone who had been to the Matterhorn and the view was amazing, so I’d like to see it. However, the weather forecast has been cloudy for a while, so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to see it today. I don’t have any other plans, so I decided to go anyway, even if the weather was bad, and left early this morning. I’m really bad with directions, so if I don’t have enough time, I’ll have trouble getting to my destination. I woke up a little early due to jet lag and posted some Instagram stories this morning, but I started doing various things around 5:30 AM and got ready, and left around 7 AM . Yesterday, I walked about 30 minutes from the central station to the hostel, but there was actually a place about 5 or 6 minutes away from the station. I thought there might be a nearby station, but this morning I was able to get there pretty smoothly . The transportation challenges always increase, so I think I’m okay with the time difference. I went to bed around 9:30 last night. I’m staying at a hostel this time, and a hostel is a place where you share a room with several other people. It’s called a dormitory, but this time I chose a women-only triple room. There were curtains and partitions, so I thought it would be nice to have some privacy, but there was one woman who snored really loudly, so it was noisy in the middle of the night. But it’s something I’ve always wanted to try since I became an adult, so I think it was a good experience. I’ll be staying there for three nights. I’m just going to sleep, and I’m getting home late again today, so I’m just going to sleep, so I’m going to enjoy it. I’m off, maybe going skiing? I’m taking the 8:02 train to Interlaken. I’ll change trains in Bern, which means I’ll have to change trains twice this time, so I think it’s a bit of a challenge. I hope everyone arrives safely. It’s Central Station. Central stations are easy to find, but stations in the city can be really confusing. It feels like the platforms just appear in winter. There are no ticket gates. There are quite a few without, and there’s no place to check your ticket, so you have to be careful not to miss the train if you’re caught. There’s also First Class and Second Class. They’re spacious seats. They’re like the Green Cars in Japan . I’ll be careful not to miss my train. My route this time was from Central Station to Zern, then to Visp, then to Zermatt. I thought there was a transfer in Bern, but this time, it was this: 8:02 AM, Interlaken 81 , platform 31. This is it. I’ll arrive early. I’m not mistaken, but this is the pattern—it opens when you press a button. I’ll try going upstairs. I arrived in Bern. When I looked it up on Google Navigation and the JNR app, the exits were slightly different. What’s going on? I’ll take this. The 9:07 AM departure was already on my way, so I was on my way. I want to go up a little. This should be the right place. This is much easier. I wonder if there’s a seat available on the second floor. I think it’s the right one. The platform was right in front of me, so it was easy . I rode for almost an hour and then transferred at a place called Visp. It’s a long three-hour journey. Bern has also departed. It’s so beautiful. I hope it clears up. I can see a little bit of blue sky. I arrived at the station where I was originally supposed to transfer, but I’m glad I was able to transfer in Bern. Can you see it? There are mountains lined up. I think I should be able to see the lake later. This is Lake Lucerne. I think I can see the castle, but I can’t see it . The roofs look a little unique. I can’t see it now, but I saw it earlier . It looks unique, doesn’t it? There’s a curve. I’ve arrived in Visp. I’m heading to platform 3. The transfer time is about six minutes. I’m a little quick. Platform 3. You should be able to find this place easily . Take platform 3 from here . A seat on the right is best. Zermatt is the one with a view of the Matterhorn. The red train is distinctive. It says “This way or 2” for second class. I wonder if this is okay? The stylish side table. I was glad I made it safely after transferring. I was heading in the opposite direction, so I moved . It seemed like there was a single seat available. The train was quite spacious. The balcony was filled with flowers. Aren’t they so pretty? It’s a little far away, but I was planning to watch a video on the train, and the view is so enjoyable. I bought a Swiss Travel Pass in advance in Japan . I chose K2day, but you can also buy it at Klook. I chose the cheapest coupon. You can come and see it at the police station, so here ‘s the voucher. You don’t really need to bring the paper. The travel bus costs about 42,000 yen, but Swiss trains are expensive, maybe 12,000 yen one way , or 24,000 yen round trip, which is quite expensive. The mountain railway is half price. If it’s not half price, it still costs about the same, so in the end it’s cheaper to buy this. Even so, it’s expensive . I arrived in Zermatt. It was a long 3 hours, but it went by pretty quickly. I think it feels below 10°C now. It’s a little cold, I’m glad I wore a high neck, but my feet are a little cold. I should have worn heat tech. Then I got on the train again, but this time I’m on the mountain railway. I think it was the Gorgonard Railway. That’s how it went. So I wanted to give you a little tour of the city. The train station should be pretty close too. This is in front of Zermatt station . Wow. Ah, this is it. We’re almost there. The best view of the Gorgonard Railway. I can’t see the Matterhorn, or rather the Matterhall, unfortunately. But look, the station is amazing. It’s colored with flowers. So, what will you think? Zermatt is all electric, so gasoline cars can’t run. It’s all electric. I’ll probably take it after the Matterhorn, but I’d like to see it if the clouds clear. It’s not visible at all right now, but it’s amazing. It’s so modern, isn’t it? It’s amazing how thorough they are. The next train at 11:36 is at 12. I can’t tell if I’ll eat lunch here and then go on , or if I’ll just go on the other side. I bought a Swiss Travel Pass . I think this should be fine. I’m getting on. I need a seat on the right side, so I’ll get there a little early. I can leave anytime now. I’m getting on the 11:36 train. I’m going. Just right. This is the Gorgonardbahn mountain railway I just bought. I think it’s a round trip. This ticket is half price with a Swiss Travel Pass . Without a Swiss Travel Pass, it would cost 114 Swiss francs. Such a cute ticket. This alone would be a great souvenir. I paid 57 Swiss francs separately, but that’s double the 9,690 yen price, so I’d end up paying about 89,000 yen, so it’s actually more economical to buy a travel pass and get half the price. It would be nice if the mountain railway was included, but I guess that’s not possible. I wonder if I’ll be able to see the Matterhorn. I wonder how it will be today. The inverted horn is at a station along the way, but I don’t think I can see it. Apparently the right side is better, so I’m sitting on the right. Most of the seats are open, so we ‘re moving. From here, we’ll be climbing for about 30 minutes. I wonder how many centimeters above sea level we’ll reach. I wonder if I should add this in later with voice-overs . 10,000 yen for this 30-minute train ride. That’s expensive, isn’t it? Is it a tourist tax? It’s fun. I was wondering if I could show everyone the Matterhorn, and I could see it. I was surprised. I can see the top. Hey, look, the right side was better after all. Everyone can see it. The top of the Matterhorn is hidden by the clouds, but you can still see it. It would have been perfect if it had been sunny, but I can’t be greedy. It looks like a valley. Wow, if only it was sunny, I’d be climbing all the way. It probably would have been. It’s cold, but I’m glad I chose these. I had arm warmers. It was so warm while I was getting changed, I didn’t think I needed them, but I’m going up. Checking out the highlights. I’ve come pretty high, but I can’t see the Matterhorn . It was a miracle. I can’t see it, but the view is great. I wonder if these people saw it. They seem to use this ticket again when they leave. I hope I can ride it a few times . Well, unfortunately for everyone, it’s like this, and it might be rare. It’s usually sunny, but the weather is freezing my feet. I’m always sightseeing on sunny days, but it’s rare to see a view like this. The sun is out, but it’s getting foggy and I can’t see. I guess I was lucky to see the tip just now. But I can see blue sky, so maybe we’ll see some sunshine. Let’s go up. It was a 30-minute ride on the Gornergrat Railway. I left my room around 7:15 in the morning , so it’s now 12:18. I wonder how many hours it took from Zurich. Since it’s 7 o’clock, it must have taken five and a half hours . It was quite a long journey , but it didn’t feel that far. It was a three-hour train ride, but it was already lunchtime, so I thought I’d eat lunch, sightsee in Zermatt, and then head back. I wish it would clear up. I want to see it, look, the blue sky is visible. I wonder what it’s like on the other side? I think you can probably see the Matterhorn from here, though I can’t see it today. There’s a lake over there, and I think you can see the inverted Matterhorn there. I think you get off one stop before the mountain railway . Looking in the direction from here, I’m sure you should be able to see it from around here, or something like that, but there’s nothing I can do about it . But I’m in the middle of the three mountain ranges of the Alps, and it’s quite moving. Being able to be in this natural environment is indescribable . I came to Switzerland on short notice, but I’m glad I came. This is 3,100 meters above sea level. It’s the Gornergrat observation deck, so the air might be a little thin. You should actually be able to see the Matterhorn from here . Unfortunately, I can’t see it , but I’ll go inside. They sell very warm wine inside. As expected, they don’t accept JCB cards, so JCB cards really aren’t accepted. I think I’ll check out the souvenir shop. It looks like this when you can see it. I saw this just now. I was lucky to even see this much. It’s not a blue sky, but I’ll buy some souvenirs. It really should look like this . I think I’ll put a sticker on my backpack. It looks like a help parka, but I’ll buy a patch. Is it just my imagination? It feels whiter than before, but I can’t see anything. I wonder if restaurants are reservation-only. It was really crowded, but I thought there was a casual place to eat, but maybe it’s closed . I head up. The air is a little thin, so I’m climbing, but I made it to the top. If it’s clear, you can probably see the Matterhorn from here. But I got something nice just now. If it’s clear, you can see the Matterhorn like this. It depends on the weather, but if you have time, please come and see the Matterhorn. Wow, the lake I could see earlier . It might be foggier than before . I can’t see anything. I know I’m being persistent, but it looks like this. But I guess I was lucky because I’d seen the pointed roof just now. Judging by the way things are, I probably won’t be able to see it on my way back. So maybe it was good. There should be a little terrace-like area there. It’s a bit like this, so maybe it’s time to head back. I bought a 10,000 yen one-way ticket , and only stayed for 30 minutes, which feels like a waste, but there’s no point in staying here forever. I think I ‘ll head back to Zermatt . Five hours later, I arrived at this place. I couldn’t see the Matterhorn, but the scenery along the way was fun, and traveling by train in Switzerland is great. Also, this is the only thing I brought today. I packed one winter jacket, but I was a little worried, so I actually went to Uniqlo after class and packed another. It made my luggage a little heavy, and I thought maybe it was unnecessary, but it has arm warmers. And Uniqlo’s Ultra Light Down jacket . What’s good about it is that it has an inside pocket, and it’s a UV-resistant jacket. A hoodie would be nice, but you can also put souvenirs in it. I bought some postcards, but this inner pocket is really nice. There’s an inner pocket and an outer pocket. It’s light and warm, so it’s good for security. I usually put it here like this when I’m shooting videos, and with my right hand like this, I put my smartphone like this this time and put it on top. My cards are in here. It’s a little dangerous, but this is the best. I don’t have to take my wallet out either. This time, I didn’t exchange any cash in Switzerland. I probably won’t use cash, and there’s no place to tip, so I’m planning to just use my card. Now, I’m about to head downstairs. I haven’t met any Japanese people, but there are a lot of Asians. This is because the popular Korean drama “Love’s End” is set in Switzerland, do you know that? So it seems like there are quite a lot of people . But I was lucky that I didn’t get caught in the rain. It was forecast to rain, so I’m really sorry that I couldn’t deliver it to you all. It’s a place worth the five-hour trip, so if you’re in Switzerland, definitely check it out. I ‘d like to go somewhere else tomorrow. I think the Jungfrau is famous for being the tallest mountain in Europe, and some people have already been there. The Matterhorn is probably the most popular, and there’s one other mountain besides the Jungfrau, which I’m planning to go to tomorrow. Apparently, with the Swiss Travel Pass, you get 25% off the tallest mountain in Europe, not half price . It’s incredibly expensive, and I want to get back there again, so I think I’ll skip it this time. I wish the clouds would clear a little, but they did, and the camera didn’t capture it at all. I think that’s enough. I wonder if I should go down, but I can’t see. I can see a beautiful spot through the gaps in the clouds. By the way, everyone, there’s snow under your feet, so wear comfortable shoes that are easy to move in. After all, it’s a snowy mountain, so you have to be careful not to slip. You can go inside this church. It’s cute, so let’s go in . It’s warm. I made it through. It’s beautiful. I hope I can see it, but I think I’ll wait a little longer. It was so foggy, it’s amazing. I wonder if I can see it? I stuck around for a while, but unfortunately, I couldn’t see it from here. I ‘m taking the next train back in 31 minutes. This is it! I got some coffee. I wanted to go to a cafe for coffee, but I’m heading back. I’ll have lunch in Zermatt, since it’ll take five hours. I don’t have time. I’ll take the 31-minute train back. I couldn’t see it from the observation deck . I wonder if I can see it? I was looking at it from above just now. I think I can see the Alps. What about the Matterhorn? It ‘s so beautiful. I feel like I’m descending at the perfect time. It’s a spectacular view. Wow, the view you can see from here. I’m looking at it with my bare eyes at this point, but the mountains I couldn’t see before are starting to come into view. Okay, everyone, I took a quick train ride, but I could see it from the train, so I got off halfway. It’s obscured by clouds again, but I can see the Matterhorn. It looks like we can eat here, so I’ll try to catch a glimpse. It’s starting to clear up. I’m glad I got off the train halfway through. I feel like I might be able to see the clouds. The background music from this point onward is copyrighted, so I’ll introduce it with a voiceover. The sky looked bluer than before, so I decided to stick around for a bit and stopped in at this cafe. I thought I’d just grab a coffee, but I ended up eating something, so I did a little shopping here. I bought a thick hot dog. It was 12 Swiss francs, and a hot chocolate was 6 Swiss francs. I also bought some chocolate, but all three came to about 4,500 yen. It would have been more expensive if I had eaten at the first observation deck, so I recommend getting off two stops and eating here, where you can see the Matterhol and enjoy a delicious meal. I waited, believing in this miracle, slowly sipping my hot chocolate, for the clouds to clear. Then, little by little, the clouds cleared. Even though there were so many thick clouds, I made it to the train. Wow, I saw it! Can I do it again? I just barely made it before the doors closed . So, I’m glad I was able to see it. My phone battery was running low so I had to hang on until 2:35pm . I arrived at 12:15pm, a little over two hours, and the clouds started to roll in. I decided to enjoy it a little longer . It was the right decision to get off. It was the right decision to get off the train. I’m glad. Being alone and having to make decisions like this on the fly feels like quite a challenge for me. I’m always indecisive and can’t decide, so it was just when the clouds started to roll in . How did you like it? This is the end of the video for this trip. Thank you for watching this long video to the end. The Matterhorn and nature are both closely related to luck, so I was really glad and relieved to be able to show it off to everyone . Next time, I’ll do a bit of sightseeing in Tsurumatt, the town at the base of the Matterhorn. I’ll introduce that in a shorter video next time, so I hope you’ll watch the rest of the video if you’d like. Have a nice trip everyone!
