A trip by train? No, a trip to Gangwon-do by train! Today, I’m introducing a walking tour of Chuncheon, just an hour from Seoul. I’ll share everything from budget-friendly tips to hidden gems and delicious restaurants. The Chuncheon walking tour begins at Kimyujeong Station. From Cheongnyangni Station, it takes about an hour and 20 minutes by train, and then you can take the ITX from Yongsan Station to Namchuncheon Station and from Cheongnyangni Station to Chuncheon Station in just an hour. Kimyujeong Station, Namchuncheon Station, and Chuncheon Station are all connected by train. Arriving at Kimyujeong Station. Notably, Kimyujeong Station is the first station in Korean railway history to be named after a person. The highlight of Kimyujeong Station is the rail bike! There’s a way to enjoy the rail bike on a budget. There’s an early bird discount, so if you book your rail bike reservation on Naver at 9 a.m., you’ll save even more. Once you arrive, you’ll find the Bookwall Photo Zone, a giant book that you absolutely must take a photo of. This Bookwol photo zone is also a Book Station Cafe and a convenience store. I bought a raincoat there. Rail bike on a rainy day! They even operate the rail bike on rainy days. Let me tell you what sets Kim Yu-jeong’s rail bike apart from other rail bikes. You can store your belongings. You can even start the ride in the rain. If it had only been a little rain, I would have been worried about avoiding the rain, but getting drenched from the start was actually more thrilling. The open road made me want to just get wet and ride . Riding on a rainy day becomes a waterbomb. This rail bike runs along the old Gyeongchun Line railroad and passes through four themed tunnels. The first is the Pink Muhly Tunnel, symbolizing confession and love. The second is the Soap Bubble Tunnel, filled with soap bubbles that you can touch as you ride. The third is the Galaxy Tunnel, where the mystical Milky Way unfolds, giving you the feeling of space travel. The last tunnel is a club. You can dance to the upbeat beats and have fun! It was so much fun. After a thrilling ride, the rain stopped. It was so unexpectedly clear that I wondered if it was just a rain special effect. After getting off the rail bike, I boarded the Romantic Train and headed to the old Gangchon Station. This train will take me to my final destination, the old Gangchon Station. Please do not step under the stairs or stick your arms out while the train is moving. As I rode the Romantic Train, I saw the Bukhangang River. It was Samaksan Mountain, home to Deungseon Falls, where I had previously visited. The scenery was breathtaking. The Romantic Train ran for about 2km from the rest area to the old Gangchon Station. The most enjoyable part was passing under the Gangchon Bridge. After arriving at the old Gangchon Station, I took a shuttle bus back to Kim Yu-jeong Square. The Kim Yu-jeong Rail Bike offers a unique experience even in the rain, wearing a raincoat. It’s a five-minute walk from the Kim Yu-jeong Rail Bike! Now, let’s head to the abandoned station. The old Kim Yu-jeong Station is located right next to the old Kim Yu-jeong Station. There’s no admission fee. Originally opened as Sinnam Station in 1939, it was renamed Kim Yu-jeong Station in 2004. With the opening of the Gyeongchun Line in 2010, this station was closed. Stationmaster uniforms and hats are available for free rental. Head inside. This area is also free to explore. Directly across from the abandoned Kim Yu-jeong Station is the Kim Yu-jeong Literature Village. This space, a restored version of novelist Kim Yu-jeong’s birthplace and literary museum, allows visitors to experience his life and works firsthand. Regular performances are held every Saturday. Admission is 2,000 won! Kim Yu-jeong’s works often feature rural people, including her representative works, “Dongbaek Flower” and “Bom Bom. ” “Bom Bom” is based on a true story about a real person in Sille Village. She wrote the story 11 days before her death… She said she wanted to translate it because she had no money… She said she had no other choice… You can watch Kim Yu-jeong’s works, “Bom Bom” and “Dongbaek Flower,” as an animation here. Did you know that Kim Yu-jeong Station, the Kim Yu-jeong Rail Bike, and the Kim Yu-jeong Literature Village are all located here? Sille Village is the hometown of author Kim Yu-jeong. Our next destination is the Book and Printing Museum, a 10-minute walk from the Kim Yu-jeong Literature Village . From the Kim Yu-jeong Literature Village, we’re heading to the Book and Printing Museum. About 10 minutes? If you drive, you can park right out front, and here’s the entrance! The road I was walking along was so rural that I wondered if I was on the right track, but there it was, at the end. It’s a filming location for “All the Useless Things. ” After paying the admission fee, they give you a bookmark-shaped ticket. The Book and Printing Museum is a space where you can see, feel, and experience everything about books, from the bookmaking process. You can try your hand at writing poetry. You can even get a stamp. And if you find the mere sight of a paper press machine disgusting, why does it make a sound? The Book and Printing Museum is primarily a place to view exhibits, but they also offer programs like postcard making and letterpress printing, so if you have time, definitely try them out. I heard there’s a bookstore near Yu-jeong Station, so I walked, but it was farther than I thought. Sille Bookstore is a small bookstore located in the hometown of novelist Kim Yu-jeong. It has a small garden. Open the door and step inside, and you’ll find a harmonium and a blackboard. To the side, you’ll find a room filled with books. This is a bookstore that sells books. You’re welcome to take photos. To the side, you’ll find another room filled with books. Located in Sille Village, Kim Yu-jeong’s hometown, this isn’t just a bookstore; it’s a quiet space where you can read a book and experience the spirit of Kim Yu-jeong. Of course, you can also buy books. I’m getting off at Namchuncheon Station and heading out for some makguksu (buckwheat noodles). It’s a seven-minute walk from the famous makguksu restaurant. Samdae Makguksu, located a short distance from Namchuncheon Station, was highly recommended by a local. They serve Gangwon-do-style young radish kimchi and pickled radish. I recommend the mixed jeon, which lets you enjoy two types of jeon at once. Potato jeon and bindaetteok (bindaetteok) cost 10,000 won . Pour the broth over the bibim guksu (spicy noodles) and you can enjoy it as mul guksu (noodles in a bowl). I highly recommend this place for its light and delicious flavor. Why are there so many great Makguksu restaurants in Chuncheon? A bridge was built near Chuncheon Station. The newly built bridge photo zone. Despite the heavy rain, I wanted to introduce all the places in Chuncheon accessible by foot, and I heard about the newly built Skywalk. Culture Square Forest is an observatory built on the site of a former small boat dock. The view is breathtaking. Other places accessible from Chuncheon Station include Gongjicheon Recreation Area to the left from Culture Square Forest, and Soyanggang Skywalk to the right. There are many attractions, so keep that in mind. A day trip to Chuncheon that you can enjoy on foot. To introduce this course, I parked my car at Kim Yu-jeong Station and walked everywhere!
