スネイプ・モルティングスを訪れるべき理由 | サフォークの美しい川辺の宝石
Morning everyone. How you doing? Welcome to another of Suffach’s little gems to visit. A place that not many people have heard of unless you come from this area, but is actually world famous. Welcome to world famous Snake Molings. [Music] [Applause] You [Music] [Applause] [Music] drink with a view. Snack Morty, as you can see, sits on the banks of the river. It’s just 5 milesi from Aubra and the lovely Suffuk coast, 13 mi from Woodbridge and 19 mi northeast of Ipsswitch. This beautiful heritage site with its converted Victorian buildings is home to independent shops and galleries, wonderful places to eat, and I’ll show you shortly, and a lovely pub. It also has several performance venues, including the world famous Snake Morton’s Concert Hall, founded by composer Sir Benjamin Britain, opened by the Queen in 1967. People when they come to this part of Suffuk tend to stay in places like my hometown of Frammingham or Aubra or South. This really is St. Mortings a great place to base yourself. We’re very close as I mentioned earlier to South Felix Stow Dunage Walerswick Lowerto Great Yarmouth on the coast just up the road and there’s also lots of other beautiful picturesque towns and villages that you can explore around this part of the world. So let me begin to show you what St. Mortings has to offer. Sandlings Walk and Sufffort Coastal Paths. This is part of the Suffuk Coastal Path. This is the halfway point of two wonderful long-distance walks. The 59 mile Sandlings Walk and the 55m Sufffort Coast Path. Both walks take you through changing and beautiful landscapes. Okay, so this wonderful barge here you can actually hire, I’m guessing, through woodfarmbargies.com. I met a nice lad called Jimmy who’s an Aussie. Hi Jimmy. You’re actually staying on this place. Yeah. Yeah. So tell us a little bit about it. I mean people it sleeps what it’s like to to sleep on. So it sleeps eight. So it’s got uh four it’s got three main cabins and then you’ve got um a cabin right up the back here. Right right up a sort of like right up the back. Um you got two bathrooms, you got two kitchen areas, uh two living areas, two showers, you know, shower and toilets or heads and showers. All mods. All the mod cons everything. Yeah. It’s amazing. And you’re also really well sighted here, aren’t you? To visit other places around. Yeah. Or up the road, Woodbridge, all those. Yeah. So, it’s it’s just a really good place to stay and yeah, it sleeps so many so many people and it’s Yeah. It’s just an awesome spot. So, thanks ever so much, Jimmy. Appreciate that. Very nice to meet you, mate. Enjoy the rest of your stay here. Thanks, bud. Thanks so much. All right, pal. And again, if you want to stay on it, woodfarmbargies.com. something different, something that I’m sure you’ll really, really enjoy. If you also want to explore the landscape around lovely state mortings, you can do it on foot, you can do it on bike, you can also do a little river cruise, a 45minute river cruise. So along by where Jimmy’s boat is that he’s staying on there, river trips can be picked up here. Obviously, it’s tidle in this area. The tide’s out at the moment, as you can see on the river there. They run in the afternoon, 4 in the afternoon today, beginning at 13:45. And over here are your prices and the type of craft that you’re going to be going on. So, as it says, it actually runs from March to October. So, I got that wrong. Um, prices there, adults 16, children 1 to 14 years of 10, infants under one year are free. And again, I’ll put that on there so you can actually see if you’re coming in this time of year, the times of the actual cruises. But definitely something you might want to consider because I’ve not been on it, but I’ve heard I’ve seen people I know people that have actually been on the river cruise and it’s really really highly recommended. I’m guessing it follows something like that, the sailor’s path. This area was really well known for ship building and rope building and sail making back in the in the Middle Ages. As I mentioned, it’s a a world famous art center here as well as a concert hall. They’ve got various sculptures dotted around. The one in front of us there is actually an interesting one by way of the price of it. How much do you think you can buy it? How much do you think that sculpture actually costs? The price of it. It’s a bronze I’m guessing obviously. Made by Lawrence Edwards for sale 48,500. So, if you got a spare £48,500 to spend, you want to put that in your garden, then this is the place to come to. We have another one over here. What have we got here? Here we go. Oh, Henry Moore. And I’ve heard of Henry Moore. This was sculptured in between 61 and 1969. Obviously, not for sale, but something a little bit different. The original purpose of the molings was the molting of barley for the brewing of beer. Local barley once molted were sent to London and exported to mainland Europe on the old temp’s barges. We’ll start our tour over here. As you can see, it is a really popular place and see how full the car park is at 10:00 in the morning. There is parking for disabled people as well. to mention it’s very much an arts and crafts area and sort of boutique shops and places to eat. The plow and sail pub is directly in front. I’ll show you that shortly. In there and drunk in there a number of times. Really really highly recommended. So this is the main sort of store if you want to call it that in um in Snape. You can see the hours there. 10il 5:30 Monday is a Saturday, 10il 4:30 on a Sunday. I’ll take you in and show you what is available. So, all local jams and produce from around the Suffach area and beyond. Obviously, we don’t have bison in Suffach. [Music] You can get stuff here which you can’t really get in any other shops. As I say, a lot of the stuff is from local produce around this area and the wider field of Suffach. [Music] [Music] So, local tipples, wine, beer, cider, and spirits from Suffuk and Norfolk. So, we’ve got some really, really good vineyards in this part of the world, which a lot of people don’t know about. [Music] A lot of the furniture and goods in this area are not mass-produced and tend to be one-off items produced by local trades people across Suffuk and North Snake Molings established. 1846. Principle of making malt is very simple. Barley soaked in water to swell the grain and encourage germination. During control germination, the hard grain changes into soft sweet malt. Growth is then stopped by drying the ground. Yeah. Unless some of the old equipment used the multi. As it says there, this building was where the barley was germinated. So, converted meal. Was this a mill? I’m not really sure. So, if you want anything from local people or artists and just some ideas of inspiration, this shop might be worth your while coming to pay a visit to. So, this is the back of the pub. I’ll go around the front area. So there’s plenty of car parking as you can see and those are all the old place converted into flats now but where they actually used to malt the barley. So quite a bit of seating in this pub inside and out. It’s a free house so you got a good selection of different beers and wines. Okay, there we go. Bar 12:00 p.m. till late. I suppose the last person lunch 12 to 2:30, dinner 6:00 till 8. See if I can pick up a menu and show you. So there’s Wi-Fi in the pub. As you can see on there, they have a specials board every day. That’s the what’s on the specials for today. Really good choices of prices. This is a typical menu. So got starters mains on there. They also cater for gluten-free and vegetarian and dairyf free as well. Actually, puddings, teas, coffees, and obviously your normal alcoholic beverages. Okay, let’s carry on exploring. The seating also goes through to the other side as well, which I’ll show you. It’s just getting ready for opening at the moment. As you can see, it’s through here as well. It’s a nice little oldie pub feel. This is also a really lovely cozy pub in the autumn winter when the log burners and fire are on. Have a little chill area here as well. Okay, let’s carry on. Thanks very much for that. You’re welcome. We’ll carry on the tour. weather can’t make its mind up today. One minute it’s really sunny, next it’s really really cloudy. If you haven’t seen many of my videos before, I do do resort and hotel reviews from around the world. I do airport reviews, so if you’re traveling somewhere or traveling from somewhere, you know what to expect in the airport itself, what it’s got to offer by way of food and drink and shopping services, etc. But I also do a lot of video reviews of places to stay near where I live in Suffukk and on the east coast of England. So so far I’ve managed to do videos of Felix, South Aubra, my hometown of Frammingham. I’ve also done Beris and Edunds in the west and this is Molings today. So the purpose of the video is really is to give you a little bit of an insight as to what these places have to offer. A lot of people have heard of these places, but don’t really know what they cater for and what they’re about. So, the purpose of my videos is to try and give you some information to help you make your mind up as to whether or not you think these places are worth visiting. And hopefully you will think that St. Mings is worth visiting cuz I think it does have a real lot to offer. Let’s continue the tour. Just along from the river in the car park, as you can see, there’s another area with galleries and shops to visit. Also got a British post box there that’s been converted into a defibrillator. So, we’ll have a wander around. This is a Hoffman building. Galleries and other places to visit. So, let’s have a look there. Oh, good idea to Hello. [Music] Friendly. I’m filming for my YouTube channel to encourage people to come and visit St. Mortings and what it has to offer. Oh, so I’m bringing people in so they can see what your gallery is like. And is everything far sale in here? It is. Yeah. Brilliant. Now, what days do you open? We’re open 10 to 5 every day. Um, and yeah, but they I’m only here between. Okay. No, sorry. So, it’s guest artists that do. So, this is all yours. Yes. Fantastic. What is your name? Should I pick people? Kate Charles. Kate Kate. Kate Charles. So Kate Charles, ladies and gentlemen, that’s Kate Charles for all her wonderful work. Brilliant. Thank you. Lovely pieces. [Music] YouTube channel. It’s Mike’s Travels. M I K E S then travels. T R A V E. It’s only a small travel channel. It’s growing at the moment thankfully. But um yeah, I just want to I’ve done videos. I live in Frammingham as I say I done videos of Frammingham, Kelix, South Walra, Barrison Edmonds for this part of the garden. I’d go I do from different parts of the world as well. So this is me trying to encourage people to come and don’t not have Suffach on your radar. Come and see what we got to offer and do it from there. So brilliant. So hopefully people will come and enjoy your work and uh we’ll go from there. Thank you very much. Nice to meet you. Some lovely stuff though. Thank you. As you can see, they do do tours here as well. So tour coach again. And you may have not heard of Snape, but it is really a popular place to come and while away a few hours. Got a music shop in here. I’ll show you briefly what’s in the music shop. or something or something. [Music] You know, I like also wandering around this place, Snape Antique Center. I’m not going to spend a lot of time here, obviously. I’ll just show you what it’s got to offer. So, I’ve got a couple of floors, got various pictures. Hello. Hello. Antique clothing and jewelry and all sorts of bits and bobs. [Music] Again, one of those shops that you can have a wander around. Again, if you’re looking for vintage clothing, hats, vintage wedding dresses. Tell you what, let’s go upstairs and see what’s up there. [Music] So well eclectic mix of different things for collectors and people looking for that particular thing. Old weighing scales there. [Music] It’s a bit like the video I showed of Woodbridge where there’s lots of places, country walks by the river. The same applies to St. Mortings as well. Or is about 5 milesi in that direction on the coast. Another statue. Who’s this by? Barbara Hetworth. Ah, I’ve heard of Barbara Heckworth. 1970s for sculptured. You all thought I was probably a bit silly, didn’t you? But I’ve heard of another sculpture. I’m impressed with myself. That in front is the concert hall, I believe. I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to get in to show you, but I’ll certainly try my best to show you at least where it is and give you an idea of the people that actually perform here if I can. So, adjacent to the concert hall is the Riverview Cafe and Bar. Another place to eat and drink. Don’t think I’ll have a menu to show you, but again, outside eating. Really lovely place to come and chill out with a drink or something to eat. Drink with a view and enjoy the big skies of Suffukk. Ah, sample lunch menu. So, obviously just a sample starters. mains sides desserts and coffee and cake available 11:30 to 3:30 and chips so this is the concert hall here you can see from that lady in front of us it is wheelchair and stroller stroke push chair friendly molting. So if you got strollers or you got mobility issues then you are well catered for. So ladies kindly let me film in here. I’ll take you inside and show you what the concert hall actually looks like. [Music] a man tuning a piano and that is the actual concert hall itself. Again this place is worldrenowned particularly amongst um classical musicians. A lot of famous world famous musicians have played in this particular concert hall. So, as you can see, not a huge concert hall, so tickets do go fairly quickly. Sadly, I couldn’t find anything for forthcoming events cuz the lovely lady on reception disappeared briefly. But I do know they tend to publish any events going on in the concert hall 3 to four months in advance. So, you can check that out online. But, it really is a lovely little place to come and visit. As I say, you’ve got the concert hall, you’ve got shops, you’ve got galleries, you’ve got places to eat and drink. They also do various events throughout the year as well. There’s farmers markets. They make a big thing of Christmas here at Snape. All the shops and galleries decked out for Christmas and Father Christmas rides into Snape on his boat. So, it’s something for the kids. But it really is an all round venue. A lot of people probably think, oh, you can go there in the spring and summer. It isn’t just spring and summer. You know, you can come and you can walk and you can bike and just visit any time of the year. The only thing you can’t do really is the boat tours throughout the year. As I mentioned earlier, the only specific months of the year you can actually do that. I hope you’ve enjoyed this little tour of St. Mortings and Suffuk. Really is a lovely little place to come and wander around or to visit or just to base yourself if you’re looking to explore other parts of this lovely county.
