Trying the BEST Local Food in Quito, Ecuador! 🇪🇨

Welcome back to the channel guys. Today we
are in Quito, Ecuador and I am standing in front of this beautiful fountain. We are
going to be checking out the Parque La Carolina, or Carolina. There’s like two
ways, I feel like I would say Carolina, but you would say Carolina. I think with
the Spanish tongue it would be with the E for the I, but. This park is like massive.
Like we checked it out on our maps. It’s right near our accommodation. Can you see
our accommodation from here? I think we’re right behind. Yeah, we’re behind this
building. But check out the, I think it’s going to be the last video, hopefully.
You’ll see it on the thumbnail, our accommodation video in Quito. Because we
show you guys where we’re staying, because I know a lot of people have questions, so
they’re always curious on where we stay and what our places look like. So yeah, we
try to include those videos every once in a while, but anyway, it’s back in this
park. It is massive on the maps and I was like reading some Google reviews and
people are like there’s so much to do. There’s running tracks, there’s bike
parks, there’s skate parks. Wow, I see the skate park right now. Let’s cross. Yeah,
you kind of just have to like run across these roads and try not to get hit in Peru
and also Ecuador too, I find. But we walked by a couple times and especially
yesterday, it looked like so busy. Today, it looks quieter. It is not the weekend
anymore. No. Check it out. That’s cool. Yeah, here’s the skate park. Oh yeah, see
this skate park, like it was packed yesterday when we were walking by him. It
is a Monday now. Yeah, so it’s definitely quieter today, but that’s okay. It’ll
still be nice to kind of make our way, I think, from one end to the other. It’s
about like 35 minutes or something. Something like that. It’s really big.
Yeah, the weather looks like it is going to rain, so let’s hope it doesn’t. Maybe
in the evening. Yeah, I don’t know. It’s looking pretty great over there. But this is nice. Holy. I know. Somewhere
right in the middle of the city just to like walk. That’s like one of my favorite
things. Yeah. If you’re in like a big city. Without having to worry about
traffic. Yeah. Crossing streets. Yeah, exactly. Okay, I didn’t expect this. That’s
beautiful. There’s like a huge river. Yeah, there’s two bridges going over top.
That is so nice. You look like you could swim in there. Pretty much, yeah. The
water is so clear. It has like a nice color to it. Looks like it’s seriously
maintained. Yeah. Wow. I mean, it probably would look nicer if there wasn’t cloud
cover right now, but it’s kind of, we’re getting that foggy day. Foggy day color.
Okay, the skate park. Look how crazy big it is. It’s not a little skate park. No,
it’s the biggest one I’ve ever seen. For sure. You can do a full 360 over there.
That would be insane. I don’t know if anyone does that. Who’s got the skills? I
would love to see that. That looked interesting. Yeah, what was that? Like a
mountain of whipped cream. With ice cream cones upside down or something? We all
have a platter of ice cream, but I don’t know what you call that. Well, yeah, it
can’t be ice cream. It has to be a whip or something because it’s not melting. We
have some tents here. Food and drinks. What do we got here? All the goods. Big
old thing of plantains. A little puppy. A pug. Is that a pug? It’s so fruity. That
right there looks delicious. Oh my goodness. Do we try some freaking pork? Oh
my gosh. Maybe we’ll come back. The first thing we see, it smells glorious. Don’t
tempt me. I know. We might have to go back to that one. You want a whole thing of
pork right there? I don’t know. Did you see it bubbling away there? Did you see
the same pork as me? Oh my gosh. Did you see it? We could try it. How hungry are
you? I was like, maybe a little snack or a drink, but I’m like, hey, a plate of pork?
I don’t know. Let’s see. Okay, let’s try that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Wow. It
looks really nice. And look at that crispy skin. Oh, is this? Okay. It’s just, this
is the gigante? No. Oh, you try it. Okay, cool. It’s a tester. Yeah. It’s like a
rib. Hot, golden rib. Tender. Give me that piece. Oh my God. Those are to die for pork ribs. We’ll take
your finest order. Yep. And look at that. They even have the plantains and
everything right there. The dog knows where to be. Look at this. It’s so juicy and succulent.
Hmm. Oh my gosh. This is delicious. And then that’s a spicy. But can’t do.
We’ll try like a little bit on a chip and see what we’re working with. You know,
mass mass. Okay. Very. That’s like a chicken. It’s like a tomato. Well, these
are both different tomatoes. This is like a sweet tomato. Okay. Pour it
all over. Yeah. I’ll put it on the side. Got some of this one. This one has some
nice herbs and vegetables and stuff. Here. I think putting it on the side. Yeah. Put
it over. Put it over there. Yeah. That’s beautiful. Boom. Perfecto. I’m going to say no to
that. No, that’s fine. All right. And we need a salt. Okay. Salt. Yep. Everything. They got to squeeze their shelves. You can
put the plate down and put in this. Watch this. Let her let her help on everything.
Okay. Okay. Put this on here. It’s that stuff. Oh, that’s the juice.
Okay. Put it on the side. Or more. A little. It’s all the fat there. The
flavor. Okay. Yeah. The lighting. Let’s just see what we
got here. So we got like the pork, pork, whatever the drippings of the fat. I’m
assuming that was the looks to be like a big banana, banana chips, onion. I put
cucumber, the tomato sauce, and then we put lime. This is, I don’t know if this is
going to be $3. I’d be shocked if it was. Okay, guys. I don’t know how you supposed
to eat this. Just get in. There’s like some sauces in the bottom. I think you’re
actually meant to put more sauce from what I can see beside me. Yeah, like the tomato
and whatnot. I mean, I kind of want another bite of this like pork meat. Why
not? It looks so crispy. It’s so crispy. Yeah, that has a really
good skin. Mm. Wow. I just can’t get over the pork. I don’t
even know how to go into this, Chase. Well, try a little bit of everything. I
know you hate not having everything on one bite, but I think you just have to do
this. You just got to like, you have to just get everything in your mouth. Yeah.
Well, no. I mean, just have a little bit of this, a little bit of that. That’s what
I meant. Yeah. Take a little bite of everything and like put it in your mouth.
She’s about to fry up some more plantain. I gotta get a piece of that plantain.
Plantain, yeah. But I think the problem is, is this is so full. Yeah, for $3. I
don’t know. Okay. Wow. Oh, okay. I think I got it. Stop playing with your food. Mm. Wow. I’m gonna get this plantain when it
happens. Waiting for the world. That’s spicy. What
was this? You got that sauce. Oh my God. That’s really good. The plantain is like sweet. You got the
fatty pork. There’s the crunch from plantain chips, freshness from the
cucumber, and then that zing from like the salsa. There’s corn on here. Excellent.
That’s really, really good. Oh my gosh, that’s good. I need you to sit down and
you can feel like I’ve been eating. You haven’t even done the limon. I’ve been
doing all that. I don’t want that. I don’t like lime on my, you know that. Well, now
that I’m going in, I guess you’re not going back without a lemon bite. Okay.
Well, let me take a little meat piece off. I’m like, I’m gonna sauce it the way the
locals. I’m iffy with fresh lime. Wow, that’s a crazy lime. Oh, tasty. Oh, the corns are crunchy. Mm hmm. That’s insane. This was a nice unexpected
surprise. Oh yeah, it is. The skin on that pork is so, so, so good. Is it juicy? It’s
like crisp. It’s really crispy. It takes a little bit more. Yeah, I have little pieces. The flavors in the skin now. Nice and
salty. Look at this thing. Grilled or fried to perfection. Mm hmm. Sweetness, tanginess. So amazingly good. There’s a lot of different crunch factors
in this meal. There’s so many different things in one. You’re like, what am I
eating? But it’s so good. You’re so good mixed together. Try that lime. Like the
sharpness of the onion mixed with the little chips. All the sauces. Wow. You can tell it’s popular because people
keep coming up. They’re whistling. They want service. I think it’s necessary. It’s
nice. It cuts the fat a little bit. Now we’re going to be full of energy to
walk this park. We haven’t even got into it yet. Don’t mind if I do. Everyone’s together. Yep. You know, that’s crazy. Everything on that
plate is like three dollars. It is. I know. I’m looking back at it. It looks
exactly like the picture. No, we didn’t get the four dollars. What? That crispy
piece of skin. Oh yeah. Yeah. Nothing we’re missing. Shucks. Can you shuck over
another dollar and we can get some skin right now? I could see the one too. Yeah.
Here, I’ll show you. It’s probably this one. That’d be my guess. But like, wow.
Oh, you didn’t. I wonder what this is. That is going to be very savory. Oh, it’s
salty. Whoa. Whoa. That’s why they told me to take a little
bit. It’s really salty. I need an apple. I need an apple and I’ll be back. So I bet
it’s probably really good to put it on the pork or something. Shelby’s running away
to save her life. But yeah, if you got a little bit of sauce there. Be careful with that. Oh, it’s so good.
It’s very salty. Very salty. But when you put it on something and you mix it around,
then I can see what they’re saying by be careful. Well, I think I’m going to finish this up.
Shelby’s going to survive from that salt and then we’ll continue on. All right,
she’s putting in the plantain. Wow. When will they fry them? In delicious
oil. And that oil’s been used all day, so it keeps getting more and more flavorful.
Wow, guys. That was amazing. Oh, one more look at that glorious pork.
Wow. That was so unexpected. Yeah. But so nice. That crazy juice oil mixed with
salt, if you only take a little bit, is for chef’s kiss. That was not for me. It’s
too salty. And I’m a salt lover, but I think I put too much. Getting some more
American coins. So yeah, all done. It was three dollars American. That’s crazy.
That’s like a full plate of food, too. I just, as you go up the list, obviously you
get more like premium products. Like you’ll get some chicharron or you’ll get
the luxury skin. But if you’re just going to like have a meal for like a good price,
what we got right there. That was excellent. Oh my goodness. There’s some
people. Yeah, they got the paddle boats there. I thought we were going to miss
that. What a cool park. OK, there is definitely some people more once you get
more in the park. Yeah. People kind of come in a little bit. Oh, what? I see
sunglasses. No, stop it. Are we going to make a pass without she’ll be looking at
them? No, guys, we’re actually going to Canada soon. And I have a few pairs. How
many pairs do you think I have ordered? You’ve ordered sunglasses. You’ve ordered
some sunglasses. Oh, hell yeah. I’m going to say three in hopes that it’s only
three. I think I’ve ordered like four, five, six, seven, eight. But the thing is
on Shen, they come in like three packs and they’re like the comments, shopping a hawk
or shopping addiction. No, no, no. But they come in like three packs. You know,
like I got a pair of three cheap sunglasses for five dollars. Yeah. So it
seems like a lot. No, yeah, I understand. I used to get them on DH Gator, Alibaba.
Yeah. And you can get a 10 pack. Yeah. You know, you might like five and then you get
the five rest of your friends or something. Exactly. Because I want, I
don’t know, like I want my outfits to be like more of a vibe. Pair the sunglasses
with the outfit, you know, different color lenses and then them just be like little
cheapy sunglasses. Nothing crazy. These ones are like these ones are my expensive
ones. Hundo for those ones, but they lasted so good. I love them. Oh, I would
never. My arms getting sore. Olympicos, Atlanta, 2016. We got Jefferson Perez. Is
that how you say it? Oh, good job. All right. You know what I was going to say?
Perez. But it’s Perez. You’re right. That almost reminds me of like our Terry Fox.
Pretty much. Except I think this guy’s more of like an Olympian and Terry Fox did
it for a charity. And he had lost his leg. Yeah. Cancer reasons or whatever. He ran
freaking far. Yeah. Across Canada, had a crazy route. But with running being talked
about, look at this track. It’s insane. And like, and a workout gym here where
everyone’s doing like body weight exercises. The park still looks like it
goes on and on and on. This is so cool. Like we have a running track like this
called Massey Place Stadium where we’re from in Prince George. This thing’s
gigantic compared to that. No. I think so. Look at it. I don’t know. It might be like
all due to like colors or perception, but I truly think this one’s like, you can’t
even see the other end. When you’re in Massey, you can easily see the circle. You
have to go a certain way. I saw people going against the grain the other day, but
everyone’s good. Maybe we should go the other way. Let’s turn around. Turn around.
I feel like there’s like some cool stuff over here. Well, yeah, we can just face
everyone. Yeah. Say hello. Everyone’s like working out. That guy’s swinging like a
little monkey. Whoa. Okay. All right. No problem. That’s awesome. That guy’s an
amazing athlete. What does work on this grass? They’re hustling. They ate some fatty pork
and I’m just like, I’m feeling a little lazy. Yeah. The track’s only for serious
goers. We got to get the hell off there. That guy was parenting. He was giving it
his all. I used to run track in high school. Yeah. Number one. Nope. I was, you
know what? You know what’s like funny about me is I had a lot of like friends
that were, I mean, like not friends, but like people, you know, you know, people
that you’re like not super close with the people you still talk to acquaintances,
shelves. Yeah. Like I had a lot of a team friends like that, but me and my best
friend, we were, we were like solid beats and everything in like, um, learning like
report cards, volleyball teams, uh, track and field field. We were very like in not
quite the A, but we’re like the B C plus range. You’re giving it your all. Yes. And
it was not a, that building. I don’t know if we can zoom in. It’s shaped really
cool. It’s wild. It’s like zigzaggy almost. And then like even there where
they have all their balconies, they’re sticking out all funny. This park is
incredible. Looks like we have a cross here as well. It’s insane. Like this field
right here, I could probably run that way, make it to the end and be gassed. I
couldn’t run there and back. Oh God, no. Nope. No. I, uh, the cardio is not so good
anymore. Nope. It is not. I used to be fricking Speedy Gonzalez when I was a kid
though. I did too. Well, kind of. You were the B shoved. You were just explaining.
Okay, whatever. But you have longer legs. I have short legs. So I can’t be an A even
if I tried. That’s some interesting signage right there with a guy on it. It
has like holes. So it’s like see-through. It kind of gives it like a 3d effect and
he’s like following you. Yeah. Everyone put your stuff in a perfect
line. Interesting. And there’s like, look at all the little poochies having fun. My
goodness. There’s so many different types of dogs. Chase and I were saying how, um,
I’m noticing it here too, but as well as Peru. Cause that’s Peru. That’s South
America, right? We just did. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So there’s so many different types
of dog breeds. Like, okay, so you go to Mexico City, you see a ton of pit bulls.
Yeah. You go to, we notice we go to certain countries and we’re like, there’s
a ton of this breed. Yeah. But we saw so many different breeds in Peru and same
with here too. There’s like, they don’t discriminate. No, there’s like Dobermans,
Frenchies, pit bulls. Holy crap. Holy. Wow. Yeah. A lot of dogs, a lot of dogs.
That guy fricking distracted me. Wow. You know what’s kind of crazy is you’re like,
oh, I just saw that person. And then passing you again. You’re like, how fast
are you going? Yeah. See, this is what I was doing. Army crawl. It seems like there’s like, even when we
look down at that, there’s like a school below us in our apartment there. And just
like, it seems like a very, uh, what do you call it? Workout focused kind of
place. Yeah. Healthy, healthy. There’s a lot of like, like protein goodies. Protein snacks and all the things. Oh, we
got an airplane. I love the new paint job. That’s like an, is that, that’s an actual
airplane and it’s like spray painted. Wow. Looks like they had a really cool artwork
of like a cityscape before the graffiti thing. Um, I know chase that’s what that’s
graffiti. Oh, like the first paint job you mean. Oh, yeah. Okay. No, but the graffiti
adds such like a vibe. I think anyways, look at these wheels. I don’t even want
to, I don’t even use this. Is that sturdy? This is really cool. That is really cool.
Actually. I touched the bottom of an airplane. Okay. Oh, that’s pretty neat. I
understand the props lock. Yeah. Probably for the best. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I was kind
of hoping they wouldn’t rotate. That is so cool. There’s a guy on that seat. See,
look at the graffiti. So cool. Yeah. Wow. I can’t see the end of the park yet. This
is like, I’m actually under, this is like a port of some sort of volleyball or
basketball. There’s more, um, looks like food stalls, vendors, there’s playgrounds.
Like this is, this is the coolest park that we’ve ever been to. Yeah. Like this
is not just a regular park. I was wondering if it was just going to be like
a stretch of, um, greenery, but yeah, you never know until you get here. Well, I saw
some reviews, but I don’t know. I love looking at Google maps and whenever I see
like a big green spot, I get kind of excited because it’s something to explore.
Yeah. This is by far one of the coolest things that you don’t really know was
going to happen. Yeah. This is like really cool in Quito, Ecuador. We’re loving South
America so far. Our next stop is going to be explaining to Columbia. Yeah. We got
our bus tickets purchased. We got a bus close to the border. Then we take a taxi
to the border, go through the border, take a taxi to a little town. Yeah. Spend the
night and then take another 10 hour or more bus and then we’re going to be in
Cali. Yep. Watch the salsa dancing. Yeah. So look at this. This is, wait, is this
like, I don’t know what these courts are actually. I don’t know. There’s soccer
over there. Yep. Well, they have the volleyball net there,
so maybe they just don’t have all the nets set up. Oh, maybe. Or is that Batman? I
don’t know what that is. There is a volleyball on the ground though. Okay. I
see a blow up bouncy castle. For children? You want to go in? I mean, it could be
fun. They probably wouldn’t let me in. Oh, cool. We are approaching something smoked. Wow.
It looks good. Looks like, you know what, Ecuador, I’m feeling meat. It’s very meat
forward. Like pork, barbecue. Oh, honey. Honey, that looks so good. The smell. Oh
my God, it looks so good. Wow. Delicioso. That looks so good. The smell is coming
off it. Wow. Yeah, everyone’s just chilling, relaxing,
laying down, enjoying. Yeah, I’ve seen a lot of people drinking
these. Yeah. Just like shaved ice. That’s quite popular. So we have made it.
Finally. Did we look at the starting time? No. I guess we also chilled and ate some
pork and whatnot. Yeah, but it’s a big artifact. Would you go sculpture? Yeah, it
looks like it has some lights or something on it, which makes it look cooler. I can’t
get over that. That’s like almost like a Latin American cherry blossom. Oh, the
little pink tree. Yeah, it’s pretty far and tiny, but it’s cute. I wonder if
that’s real. I think it is. This one looks like it’s blooming right here, this big
one. It’s going to turn all pink. That building almost looks like it’s like
curved. That building looks freaky. Like with the pillars too. I don’t, they have
like a center missing and then the top is just slanted. Yeah, I don’t know if there
is. In the center there is the glass slanted too. Is this building actually
slanted? Yeah. It’s just so weird looking. I don’t even want to say it because last
time we were in Taiwan, do you remember when we got to Taiwan and I was like, we
were talking about earthquakes, maybe because there was like a sign and I was
like, oh, there was an earthquake. I wouldn’t be able to handle it or
something. Oh, I wouldn’t be able to handle it. Next day, what happens to us?
How many earthquakes hit? Oh, it was brutal. I don’t know. 50, 50 in 24 hours.
It was the aftershock of the big huge one that hit. So yeah, that was fun. Um, but
no, I just said there’s an earthquake that. I don’t know. It’s like they’re
purposely trying to make it look like you don’t want to be on it. Yeah. That’s like,
if our Airbnb was like, yeah, this is your building. I’d be like, we’re going to book
a new place. But anyways guys, this was a beautiful park. We hope you enjoyed it. We

Try empanada de morocho, empanada de viento, empanada de verde, ceviche de concha, yahuarlocro, seco de chivo, menudo, Guatita, Bolon de verde con cafe, encebollado, chochos con tostado, tigrillo. In Quito go to Mercado Santa Clara. Also go to the souvenirs market in section called Mariscal. I am Ecuadorian loving overseas and would love you try moreEcuadorian foods. There are many many more. Yeah and Quito sound like Kito. But no worries. The best is you are there and enjoying the beauty of Quito. Ahhh and were you are staying there is an excellent ice cream and bread shop called Cyrano. You can walk to it. It is deelicious. Have guanababa, taxo, tomate de Arbol ice cream. Enjoy!

  2. Hi, it's incredible that you enjoyed our country and our food, there's a food that is only in a specific period of the year "dia de los muertos" which is Colada Morada and Guagua de pan, I really recommend it to you. Some people sell it without being in that period.

  3. Hola chicos! la fritada es uno de nuestros platos típicos más deliciosos, sobre todo de quienes gustamos de la carne de cerdo! Si siguen en Quito,no dejen de probar locro quiteño, pristiños con miel, hornado, papas con cuero, guatita, pinchos / brochetas, seco de pollo, seco de chivo, tortillas de tiesto, helados de paila, higos con queso… tranquilos, que no son platos exóticos como el ponche! jajaja

  5. Guys I love that you are enjoying my country and our cuisine. If you have the ability to change plans, I recommend going to the most beautiful city in Ecuador which is Cuenca.

  6. Five hundred years ago, La Carolina Park was part of Iñaquito Lagoon, a popular spot for ancient cultures who were "very fond of cold water baths." This custom of bathing naked in groups of men and women was considered an abomination, as narrated by Spanish chroniclers.

Nooooo u don’t need to add salt 🧂😱🫣😰😅 with the thing that you put at the last is enough salt😅 because that is super salty they called mapa wira , that’s only delicious when you mixed in a pan with hominy or mashed green plantain and you have to eat it very hot , cold is bad👎🏻😅omg pork in Ecuador 🇪🇨 is delicious 🤤 I love 90% of Ecuadorian food ❤ by the way is ki-to (Quito) lol not like quick (qui) it is ki like kick lol well just in case ✌️😅 I loveeeeeeee pork with the onion salad 🥗 they have 13:55 it’s so yummy my favorite is hornado o mote con chicharrón and if you are in Guayaquil the “ sanduche de chancho “‘ 🥖 🥗 sooooooooo good 😊 please try also avena polaca just ask to people lol where u can find it and also you HAVE TO GO TO NATURISSIMO it’s a place that sells the best unique yogurt 😅that you can imagine literally

  8. 14:44 is delicious lol I know way too salty but if you cooked with rice that is not salt added 👌👌 eat it very hot and cucumber tomatoes onion lettuce salad 🥗👌 or with boiled potatoes until super soft … bolon or tigrillo is usually made with that or obviously (mote sucio ) another yummy dish
