【鹿児島 グルメ】地元民おすすめ!大人の居酒屋でひとり飯|女ひとり旅|グルメ|街歩き

Hello. This is Riepo. I’m heading to an izakaya right now. The Kisha-ba area, stretching south of Kagoshima City. It’s a lively student district, partly because Kagoshima University is nearby. It’s lined with reasonably priced eateries, ramen shops, and izakayas, and comes alive with young people at night. It’s about a 10-minute ride by streetcar from the Tenmonkan entertainment district. Distance-wise, it’s roughly 2km. If Tenmonkan is the downtown area for adults, then Kisha-ba is the downtown area for students. It has a down-to-earth feel, with many shops that radiate a local vibe. From Kagoshima Chuo Station, it’s a little over 3km. By city tram, it takes about 20 minutes to reach this area. Now, about this place name “Kisha-ba” (Archery Range)… actually, you won’t find it on maps. Around the Meiji era, there was an old Imperial Army cavalry training ground in this area, and apparently, because the soldiers practiced archery and rifle shooting there, it came to be called “Kisaba” (Horseback Archery Ground). And that name has stuck as the name of the downtown area even today. So, the place I came to today is here. Right in front of the Kisha-ba tram stop is Bakugeki, a straightforward Japanese restaurant. This place is one of Kisha-ba’s more adult-oriented izakayas (a bit pricier?). The clientele is mostly adults too. Normally, I’m hardly ever in a situation where I’m the only woman in an izakaya. But today, I think I’ll deliberately try doing just that. Well, to begin with, I can barely drink alcohol (I’m a lightweight). Wait, even while I’m waiting, customers keep coming in one after another. Good thing I made a reservation. I think you often can’t get in here without a reservation. These clams are delicious. This liver part is tasty too, right? It came off. I forgot the liver inside. Oh, finally, the long-awaited “Assorted Sashimi Platter” makes its appearance. Today’s sashimi includes seared marinated mackerel, amberjack, hairtail, bonito, red sea bream, barracuda, and Ikehama Akihiro’s tiger prawns. This is one serving. Still, that’s an incredible amount of sashimi. It’s amazing this is just one serving. And somehow, the staff seem a bit kinder than usual. Maybe it’s consideration for a woman about to tackle all this sashimi alone. Nah, probably overthinking it. Alright, I’ll start with this plump, firm red sea bream. Starting with the lighter sashimi is the standard approach, right? Delicious. Too delicious. What is this? Next up is seared mackerel. Being able to eat mackerel raw is something unique to Kagoshima, right? No, seriously, it’s incredibly fatty and delicious. Next up is swordfish. If you come to Kagoshima, you absolutely have to try it. Seasonal ingredients are incredibly delicious. Kagoshima has the highest production of kampachi in Japan. Different regions have their own brands, you know. There’s also Ibusuki’s Nanohana Kampachi and Nezumi’s Golden Kampachi. And so, it arrives sizzling on a lava plate for charcoal-grilled chicken. Looks delicious. The thing about lava plates is, they don’t produce much smoke, and the oil drips into the holes in the lava, so it’s less likely to burn. This is seriously good. Can’t stop eating it. It’s addictive. Go ahead and squeeze some lemon on it. The couple next to us ordered sashimi too, but I’m clearly eating faster than them. At this pace, I’ll probably finish the fried tiger prawns too. I was still eating the charcoal-grilled food. Even while I was eating, more and more customers kept coming in. Before I knew it, both the counter and the seats in the back were completely full. So far, I’m the only woman eating like this by myself. Yeah, just me. I secretly scanned the place looking for other solo diners, but there weren’t any. This is called Takaebi, a specialty of Kagoshima. That sashimi is incredibly firm and delicious too. It’s like sweet shrimp, but tastier than sweet shrimp. I think they call it “Satsuma Sweet Shrimp.” When I lived on a remote island, I got tons of this stuff. I’d eat a whole pack as sashimi. Delicious. The table, which was bustling just a moment ago, is starting to look lonely, so I think it’s about time to place my next order. Hmm, maybe this? Shabu-shabu and rice balls… what should I do? The rice balls here are really good, you know. You can get freshly cooked rice here. I got here a bit too early this time, it wasn’t time for the rice to be cooked yet, but they said if I waited a bit, it would be ready. Ugh, waiting for rice. Waiting. Is it ready yet? My rice. Looks like it’ll take a little longer for the rice to finish cooking. I’ll just snack on some shabu-shabu in the meantime. Looks like it’s about one serving. Probably not that much, right? Oh, the pot’s here. Huh? Huh? Seems like there’s more than I thought. Well, once it’s in the pot, it basically becomes zero calories, so it should be fine. This is about the size. There’s a little bit of lettuce and other veggies underneath the meat. Since it’s just me, it’s a pain to add veggies one by one. Nah, I’ll just throw them all in at once. Let’s do it. But I guess I’ll still add the meat one slice at a time. Yeah. Like this, gently swish the shabu-shabu, and flip it over when the meat turns pink. Unlike beef, pork needs to be cooked thoroughly. This should be about right. Then dip it in this broth to eat. Usually I eat it with ponzu sauce, but I think I’m going to get hooked on broth shabu. I always thought shabu-shabu was something you ate at home, but as an adult, eating it out like this It’s different from the image of “shabu-shabu” I had as a kid,
fighting fiercely over the meat at home. Carefully placing each slice into the pot one by one and eating it… Well, that’s the real pleasure of an adult meal, isn’t it? And after finishing the shabu-shabu, when you lift your head, it’s the long-awaited rice-cooking time. Apparently, when the rice is done, they ring a bell and call out. I wonder if that handsome blond guy over there will be the one to call us. Here it comes, here it comes, here it comes! [Clapping]
Here’s your order. I asked if I could take a picture and pointed the camera at him, so I might have made him super nervous. Sorry about that. The freshly cooked rice from the traditional clay pot looks incredibly delicious. The set comes with pickles and miso soup. The miso soup looks delicious just by looking at it, right? For Japanese people, it’s definitely rice balls. Eating rice balls just makes you feel so comforted. Maybe it’s just ingrained in our DNA. So tonight, we’re heading to the place right in front of the Kisha-ba tram stop. That was “Straightforward Japanese Cuisine: Bakugeki”. Thank you for watching the video until the end. See you in the next video! Bye bye We’ll be waiting for your accidental channel subscriptions Next time: Exploring behind Kagoshima Chuo Station. This is the area around the shop we visited this time. Kagoshima University is right nearby here, and tons of izakayas are clustered together. You know, it’s not just those typical student izakayas here,
but more stylish restaurants and eateries are popping up too, making it a real hidden gem spot. This is a place I’ve been to several times, a really great spot called “Sai Kou.” It’s an izakaya. Oh, it looks like a stylish place. It feels like a place where young people gather. There’s a kushikatsu place too. Oh, this place always has a line for lunch. It’s supposed to be delicious. It’s called “Hidemomo-ya”. And this “Beer Private Room Bar” has private rooms with beer taps attached, apparently. Does that mean all-you-can-pour beer? I’ve never seen this ramen shop without customers. And that place you can see here, Kishaban’s Food Stall Village, is a food stall-style izakaya that opened around last year, housing multiple eateries. The prices are pretty reasonable, and you can order food from any of the shops no matter where you sit. Up ahead is a pachinko parlor. Quite a few eateries line up around here, don’t they? The left side is the train street, and this area also has restaurants and izakayas lined up. The yellow lanterns you can see right in front are the Highball lanterns. Whether you’re walking on the opposite side of the road or riding the train, these yellow lanterns really catch your eye. Man, the smell of yakitori is amazing. Looks delicious. Apparently it’s pretty tasty. Plus, the bus stop is right nearby, so access is excellent. It has a stylish vibe. Looks like it’d be packed with young women. There are also bento shops serving hearty meals. Continuing further ahead brings you to the area called Kamoike. So, we’ll make a U-turn here for now, and head back along the road while looking at the train street. What you can see across the tram stop is “Bakugeki,” where we went earlier. And if you go straight down this road we’re on now, it’s the street that leads to the Kagoshima University campus. For Kagoshima University graduates and former students, this must be a nostalgic road, right? This area too, I think it’s changed quite a bit from the old days. Even just in the last few years that I’ve known, quite a few shops have changed, and apartment buildings have gone up, so the whole scene has changed. It feels like fewer of the old-style houses remain, with vacant lots or apartment buildings taking their place. Right now, this time of year still feels like summer vacation for students, so there aren’t many people around. But on weekends, it gets pretty lively. Whenever I pass through this area, I always catch the smell of yakitori. What you see on the left is Kisha Park. They hold small events at this park too, Lately, young people gather here and hold events to liven up Kisha Field, it seems. This yakiniku place. Wow. Seems pretty cheap. It really is a student town. It’s a bit reflective and hard to see, but it’s a place called Shana. The second floor looks kinda stylish. Looks like a stylish, hidden-away izakaya kind of place. Yakitori Ginji…. That’s a pretty cool name. That’s all from the scene. End
