Train to Niagara Falls: Stunning Views from Amtrak EMPIRE SERVICE & New Year’s Eve Fireworks 🇺🇸
Today we are riding a scenic train to Niagara Falls, cruising along the stunning Hudson River. catching a New Year’s fireworks show at the Falls and even walking across the border from the USA to Canada. December 31, 2024 Happy New Year from the Moy- Moy-ni-han Train Hall We are going to celebrate the New Year with another scenic train ride All the way up from New York to Niagara Falls! Scheduled for 7 hrs 20 mins, covering 460 miles (740 km) The cost of a business class ticket is $179 Winter is not the best season to visit the Falls, but there’s a firework show during the holiday season. So we decided to check it out! I heard the Moynihan Train Hall has the best lounge of Amtrak. So I skipped my breakfast today Please. Don’t let me down, Amtrak, Please have some decent food ready I made it in Looks fancy I found a great seat Overlooking the entire train hall! Let’s see what food they have. Oh yes Looks like they have some actual food other than pretzels. I got a chocolate croissant It would cost $5 plus tax at Starbucks Ummm anything I can bring onto the train… 😏😏😏 All righty Yummy brekkie time… Not much chocolate in the chocolate croissant… Wawa’s everything bagel looks better It’s toasted Wait What happened… Microsoft is hacked again?! OK this screen still works… It is time for boarding Our train will be arriving on Track 5 Here it is! The Empire Service train to the Niagara Falls There’s both coach and business class on this train The business class we are riding… …is at the rear of the train Oh the business class are in red I heard the views are better on the left side, but…the left side only has solo seats. So… Sorry, Wawa, you’re on your own for a while… 8 minutes late Finally we are ready for departure! Goodbye New York! Goodbye USA! See you in 2025! After passing through the tunnel, we will ride along the Hudson River all the way up. George Washington Bridge The traffic is always busy there. It probably gets even worse after the NYC Congestion fee We start to get amazing views of the Hudson River! Make sure to sit on the left side when traveling northbound. When seeing the peaceful Hudson River from my window… The view on the right is like this… Or this… We are rolling past the suburban towns and cities of NY What’s waiting for us ahead is the pure natural beauty The cliff It must be colorful in the foliage season. This is… Mt Fuji??? I didn’t expect you to be here… The weather is so nice on the last day of 2024 Look at the river It’s like a mirror We just passed the Ossining station This is where Betty and Don lived You must be young if you have no idea what I am talking about. We are arriving at a station Let me give you a quick seat tour Tray table 2 Outlets A manual foot rest A manual leg rest… I can take a comfy nap here Just be aware of the people behind you when reclining… This is the coach class Seems like people are not interested in celebrating the New Year at the Falls As you can see, business class offers extra legroom and a much deeper recline. And more benefits… No.1 Complimentary non alcoholic beverages No.2 Priority access to the cafe. No.3 Amazing view from the rear of the train! It’s like taking a fun rde at the Disneyland! I can stay here for all day long. But it’s just too cold Loo review time AH it’s pretty warm inside. And there’s hot water! Where we stopped? The Empire Service train runs 8 times a day, but only 2 of them make it all the way to Niagara Falls. The other 6 end here in Albany. We’ll continue our journey to the Falls ! The cake looks so good… Is it from the Cafe? Well…It must be from some fancy little cafe in Manhattan. The scenic part of the journey is behind us, so I move to the right side next to Wawa. We’re heading west now I don’t know why but the coke is making me hungry… Oh no there’s a line at the cafe. I should have bought a burger with the coke…😭 ?????? Must be kidding?! The Amsterdam Centraal in NY😲 All right I’ll pretend to be traveling in Europe. So our trip in Europe continues… This stop is … Roma Termini Ciao! The train stopped for just 1 minute so I can’t visit the Colosseum. I’ll save it to next time. What’s next? Sy-ra-cuse What’s this place? Wait it’s in Sicily?! No clues of the Mediterranean Sea Ah but there is a Macy’s… There’s finally no line at the cafe. The menu says they have the Angus Beef Burger, aka my all-time favorite on Amtrak sleepers Well… it looks a bit different from the ones I got on sleepers Looks like the lettuce, tomato and onion have run away from home… Ummm Not bad Better than McDonald’s Mr. Tomato left his younger brother named Ketchup home He’s the best friend of burgers. We met a freight train Oh it’s Amazon Prime We are faster than Amazon Prime! Come on…Amtrak! YES! Amtrak wins the Amazon Prime lol! WIFI is… Not BAD! I feel hungry… Found this in my bag I grabbed from the lounge in New York Where are we now? Rochester Oh no, it’s raining Can we still see the fireworks tonight… Hope it won’t be cancelled… We have 3 stops to go Can’t believe we’re actually a few minutes ahead of schedule Such a New Year’s miracle for Amtrak! Guess everyone’s in a rush to celebrate the New Year. We made it! OH NO HEAVY RAIN Please… Don’t cancel the firework show… We’ll drop the luggage at the hotel first I just got checked in. Good news: The fireworks are still happening tonight. Bad news: They start in 15 minutes. We gonna be hurry… 9 mins left Phew We made it here !!! We are RIGHT ON TIME Happy New Year everyone! Look That’s the Niagara Falls. The fireworks is right on top. 🥳🥳🥳 Over there, on the other side of the Falls, is Canada. They say the view of the Falls is better from there. WOW my mouth is watering like the falls… Oh no it’s blue cheese I thought it’s mayo… To be honest, they just taste like regular good chicken wings. HAHA it’s too easy… Just remember to bring $1 cash Or…you’ll be left praying for an angel behind you to pay for your toll… The view from the bridge… …is already amazing! In summer you can ride the elevator all the way down hop on a boat to go under the fall and get wet. It’s obviously too cold for this season International Boundary Line So we are actually between Canada and USA now… USA on the left Canada on the right We are going right OK so there’s border security when entering Canada. Yeah We are officially in Canada now! The Falls do look more stunning from the Canadian side. Wait Those black dots They are actually BIRDS?! That looks like a great journey, something I will certainly be looking to include in my next trip stateside. Have travelled by train many times across the UK and places in Europe, the experience in North America, whilst still train travel looks to have a different vibe. Very much looking forwards to the Brightline service starting, generally the USA has fallen way behind with passenger rail transport. (In fact, tomorrow will be travelling to London for the afternoon, using the High Speed commuter service, this travels at 140mph).
The views from the train (for the first part of the journey) are really very scenic, thanks a lot for sharing. Too bad, that there is no proper restaurant car on the train.

Video maker chose Business Class at $179. Note that Coach fare is only about $70 each way midweek.
Coach is comfortable for trips of this length, but doesn't include admission to the lounge at Penn Station.
What's up with the no-speaking in the video? I kept skipping through the video, hoping to hear you speak and explain what was happening. At marker 16:06, you talk briefly but finely. I'm legally blind, and it would have been nice and more accessible to hear someone speak. Again I'm sorry that I had to give the video a thumbs down but if you would have talked I would have given it a better rating. Even after you talked briefly I had to skip.

Niagara falls, NY. To New York City via the empire amtrak line is the best relaxing experience. I had to commute from Niagara to NYC every week for treatment at Beth Isreal a hospital worker suggested it. Via plane and omg changed everything. 7hr. Train ride views are beautiful and so relaxing
When I’m back in New York City, I make that round trip once a month. I, absolutely love the trip, especially going. I go to the Fallsview Casino to stay. The exchange rate is good, and the Canadian side is MUCH better than the American side. More to do, more restaurants.
And that's when you know it also exists as the Maple Leaf service that goes right into Toronto.
