【フェリーでの個室旅】深夜出発の夜行フェリーで21時間の船旅が最高で食べ過ぎた…「東京九州フェリー」横須賀→新門司|柴犬プリ

Today’s Digest: Today, I started my trip from Yokosuka Chuo Station late at night. My Shiba Inu companion, Puri (a 5-year-old female), and I are traveling by ferry from Yokosuka to Kyushu. It’s about a 15-minute walk from Yokosuka Chuo Station to the Yokosuka Port Ferry Terminal. Signs are posted near the station’s east exit. Today’s route runs from Yokosuka to Shin-Moji, Fukuoka, covering a distance of approximately 976 km and a 21-hour voyage. After about 7-8 minutes of walking, I was relieved to see the ferry in sight. It seems that large trucks and cargo have already begun loading. Signs for the ferry terminal are posted along the way, so it’s unlikely you’ll get lost. We’re just 200 meters away from our destination: the Tokyo Kyushu Ferry’s Soreiyu, our ferry of the day. It’s 222.5 meters long and has a gross tonnage of 15,515 tons. Puri weighs 4.5 kg. The Tokyo Kyushu Ferry began service on July 1, 2021, so it’s very new and clean. Let’s head inside the ferry terminal. The Yokosuka Ferry Terminal is well-equipped with shops and restaurants. Yokosuka is also famous for its Yokosuka Navy Curry. The selection of shops is also quite impressive compared to other terminals. Souvenirs from Kanagawa, Yokohama, and Yokosuka are available, so you don’t have to worry if you forget to buy souvenirs. There are plenty of snacks and merchandise on display. There’s also a wide selection of drinks, so you can buy them before boarding. There’s also a wide selection of Yokosuka local and craft beers. Souvenirs from Shonan and Kamakura are also available. Navy curry rice is also available in the snack bar. Speaking of ships, ice cream is a must-have. Today’s ferry is an overnight ferry departing at 11:45 PM. Boarding begins around 11 PM. Let’s discuss money inside the terminal. The fare is ¥46,000 ($310.76). Pet rooms are expensive… Since it’s a 21-hour voyage, I take some motion sickness medicine. I feel like this Aneron medicine is the most effective. Boarding began at 11:10 PM. It’s incredibly heavy because I’m carrying two carriers: my pet’s and my own. The pet room is conveniently close, just to the left of the entrance. The dog in front of me is barking, but Puri is scared and quiet in her carrier. There are only two pet rooms, so there’s always a fight over it. It’s open ! It’s quite a spacious room. For now, I’ll take a look around. I’ll do the room tour later. First, it’s dinner time for the Shiba Inu. He’s known as a greedy dog. Let’s go see the departure. It’s currently 11:40 PM. The ferry terminal at midnight is quite magical. The rope will soon be removed and we’ll depart. I missed the moment it was released. A staff member gave the signal, and the rope was reeled in. We departed at 11:45 PM, on schedule. Despite the late hour, the staff waved goodbye. Thank you for always ensuring a safe voyage. Goodbye , Yokosuka. The night view of Yokosuka is beautiful. UFO? We’re back on board. It’s midnight, but you can still order dinner and drinks at the restaurant. Breakfast , Lunch Menu, Dinner . It’s already late, so I’ll have a Yokosuka craft beer and go to bed. The alien illustrations are cute. I’ll sleep even after a delicious toothbrush. Puri has a special skill: swallowing toothpaste gum. The dog next door barked, so I suddenly had to start my security duties. Lights out on the Tokyo Kyushu Ferry is 1 AM. The TV was also turned off. Good night. Good morning. A slightly cloudy day has begun. Our day begins with a hectic breakfast. This is by no means a speed-eating contest. Apparently , the freshly baked bread on the Tokyo Kyushu Ferry is delicious. Breakfast bread is available for sale. Limited quantities available. Enjoy a leisurely morning while gazing out at the ocean. The croissant and butter roll set cost ¥350 ($2.38), and the delicious aroma of freshly baked bread filled the air. The croissant had a chewy texture. I spread butter on the butter roll to make it richer. Breakfast while watching the ocean and the passing ships was exceptional. I had a light breakfast, so I’m planning to eat a big lunch and dinner. After a night’s sleep, the ferry was already off the coast of Wakayama Prefecture. Smartphone signals will likely only reach the window when passing close to land. This is the back of my Shiba Inu’s head. I came to play in the dog run, which is quite large among ferries. I’d love to play ball-tossing, my favorite pastry. It’s so spacious, I can run around freely. My Shiba Inu is distracted by the various smells. My paws are itchy. I hurried over after hearing an announcement that we were passing a sister ship. This is Hamayu from the Tokyo Kyushu Ferry. It’s a good idea to send signals to each other using the whistle. The ship quietly headed toward Yokosuka Port, breathing in the salty aroma. The daytime funnel and silent smoke room tour began. Since it’s a private room, it can be locked. This is Puri the Mini Shiba Inu, with its lights and large mirror . The air conditioning makes the room very comfortable. The private room is equipped with a toilet and shower room. It also has a nice toilet washlet. There’s also a sink, mirror, and toothbrush. And here’s the shower room, which was kept very clean. Shampoo and body soap are also provided. A tea set is also provided. The Japanese green tea kettle is Tiger. Chairs and other items are secured with chains to prevent movement even during swaying. There’s a large mirror, so styling your hair or checking your appearance is no problem. The TV mainly plays satellite broadcasts. There’s a landline phone, but honestly, you probably won’t use it. There’s a refrigerator below the TV, so you can keep drinks and souvenirs cool. The ocean view is also a major benefit of a private room. Pet-related items and trash cans are provided for your peace of mind. The pet room is a double occupancy room with two single beds. Single occupancy is also possible, and the beds were very comfortable. There’s a control panel in the center of the disposable slipper bed. You can turn the lights on and off and adjust the brightness. There are two outlets and two USB ports next to the pillow, so you can easily charge your smartphone or camera. There’s a closet and hangers, so you can bring lots of clothes. Deodorizing spray is also available, so even if you’re smelly, it’s fine. There are chairs and tables available for eating, drinking, or relaxing. Your precious life jackets are under the bed. The restaurant is a free space outside of business hours. And the all-you-can-drink water is always available, which is very convenient. Note that coffee and juice are charged separately. We passed many ferries, including the Sunflower Ferry. Finally, the long-awaited lunchtime arrived. With so many options on the menu, it was hard to decide what to order. For my first dish, I tried a delicious dish I had tried before. For my second dish, I tried a popular Kitakyushu delicacy. Moji Yaki Curry from Kitakyushu ¥1,300 ($8.83). Shirasu Skillet Pizza from Kanagawa ¥1,100 ($7.47) with lots of cheese. I started with the yaki curry, which was piping hot. This rich, local curry, originating from a port town, is topped with fragrant cheese and egg and baked in the oven. I love the crispy texture of the Shirasu pizza. It was also piping hot, so I ate it with a fork and knife. It was delicious, with plenty of Shirasu and cheese. Add some Tabasco to change the flavor. Self-service checkout is super easy. Cash and credit cards are accepted for convenience. The fun part after lunchtime for Shiba Inu arrived. We enjoyed the planetarium and movies in the screening room. I was surprised by how many people were there when I arrived a little while ago. We started with the planetarium. I might have been asleep. There were fireworks going off, too. Next, it was time for a movie. The Detective Conan shipboard tour began. The Tokyo Kyushu Ferry is spread across three floors, from the 4th to the 6th. Almost all the main facilities are located on the 4th floor. The 5th floor houses the restaurant, barbecue area, and observation deck. The 6th floor features the large communal bath, open-air bath, sports room, and observation deck. The boards that clearly show the opening hours of shops and other establishments are extremely helpful. Barbecues are popular on the Tokyo Kyushu Ferry, and I’d like to sign up for one someday. The restaurant menu is also quite extensive, so you won’t have any trouble finding something to eat. Lockers for valuables are free to use. These lockers require 100 yen coins, but they are returned, so they’re essentially free. While suitcases aren’t allowed, larger backpacks and other items should fit. Be careful, smoking is prohibited except in the public telephone smoking area. There’s a gorgeous atrium near the main entrance. Here’s my favorite vending machine corner. First, there’s the classic Cup Noodles vending machine. There’s also a hot water dispenser, so you can bring your own instant ramen. There’s also a currency exchange machine, so even if you only have large denomination bills, it’s no problem. Juice, water, tea, coffee, and more are available. There’s a Kirin beer vending machine. There’s also a shop on the 4th floor. Items include Tokyo Kyushu Ferry original T-shirts. T-shirts are the most popular. The shop offers a wide variety of souvenirs from Kanagawa and Kyushu. These include original clothing. These are souvenirs from Fukuoka and Kyushu. With so many souvenirs, it’s hard to decide what to buy. These are souvenirs from Yokohama and Yokosuka. There’s also a wide selection of drinks, including beer. The ice cream section is extremely popular. The alcohol section offers everything from shochu and whiskey to snacks. A wide selection of sweets makes for a fun party. They also have daily necessities, so they’re useful if you forget something. Keychains for keepsakes, and more. The increasingly popular Mifune-in (Miscellaneous Ship Seal) logo. In the back of the 4th floor, there’s a karaoke room called Amusement Box. Let’s head up to the 5th floor. Yokosuka Navy Curry . The 5th floor has a restaurant and a barbecue area. The barbecue area is just past the restaurant. The barbecue area is only open to those selected by lottery. It’s also connected to the observation deck, so you can enjoy the view while eating your meat. Single rooms are popular because they offer privacy. Let’s take a look at the capsule-type rooms. They only have a single bed, but they’re more than enough for sleeping. They have a light, power outlet, and USB port. There ‘s a small storage box, too. There’s also a towel rack and space for a carry-on suitcase, so you don’t have to worry about large luggage. The fifth floor has a space called the forward salon, which offers a great view. Perhaps because it’s at the front of the ship, it’s a hidden gem that ‘s always quiet. There’s a kids’ space, but it felt a bit lonely. There’s Wi-Fi, but it seems like it would be difficult to watch YouTube. The sudden earthquake early warning alert made me quite anxious. Fortunately, there were no concerns about a tsunami. The elevators were operating normally, allowing me to move between the fourth and sixth floors. Each floor has a toilet and washroom, and there’s even a coin laundry on the fifth floor. Being able to do laundry on board is extremely convenient during long journeys. There were four washers and dryers on each floor. Laundry was ¥300 ($2.04) per load , the dryer was ¥200 ($1.36) for 30 minutes, and detergent was ¥100 ($0.68) . The bathrooms and toilets were also kept clean. Now, let’s head to the last floor, the 6th floor. The 6th floor is mainly home to the large communal bath and open-air bath. This is the theater room. The men’s bath. Photography is prohibited in the large communal bath. The open-air bath looks like this. *From the website, there is also a fitness room. I’ll try it later when there are no other guests. There is also an observation deck, where you can enjoy the view to your heart’s content except in bad weather. The 6th floor has suites and deluxe rooms, but they are off-limits to anyone other than those staying there. There are only a few doors, so the rooms must be spacious. There is also a monitor that shows where we are passing. Sailing between Kyushu and Shikoku. I played with a Shiba Inu in my room. It’s time for exercise. I want to eat a lot tonight, so I’ll burn off some calories. There were treadmills, exercise bikes, and what looked like boats. I worked up a sweat on the exercise bikes. There was also something like pedaling. This would make dinner more delicious. It was also fun to just stare blankly at the boats passing by. It was time for the final meal of the trip. I ordered the most popular item, the Original Hamburger Set for ¥1,800 ($12.25). It was Tokyo Kyushu Ferry’s original hamburger. It consisted of vegetable salad, white rice, and consommé soup . The hamburger was very tender, juicy, and delicious. I loved the meat’s juicy texture. The browning made it even better. I couldn’t help but notice that it was listed as today’s recommended menu. Mentaiko cheese gratin for ¥850 ($5.79). I was so full I probably wouldn’t be able to eat even a single grain of rice. The saying “snacks are a separate stomach” was true. My Shiba Inu’s last meal. Suddenly, a hunter appeared, eyeing my snack. Yokosuka Navy Curry Potato Chips ¥420 ($2.86) I think these curry potato chips are the most delicious in the world. She looked so eager. I also ended up buying Bashamichi Ice Cream ¥320 ($2.18). It was as hard as the ice cream on the Shinkansen. Isn’t it too cheap? What does the regular price even mean? Since she couldn’t eat her snack, I decided to give her some toothpaste gum. Before I knew it, we were almost at our destination. We docked at Shin-Moji Port in Fukuoka at 9:00 PM, right on schedule. It was a long 21-hour journey, but it went by in a flash. I love watching this scene up close. First, the cleaning staff poured in. It’s a large ferry, so there are quite a lot of cleaning staff. It’s a lonely feeling when you disembark. This concludes our fun trip. Thank you for a fun and safe trip. The 21-hour ferry trip on the Tokyo Kyushu Ferry was amazing! Thank you so much for watching until the end. Next time, I plan to go on a packed boat trip.
