a pair of jeans, a shirt or two. We didn’t [Music] [Music] feel love. [Music] The world is waiting. The world is waiting half a step beyond our [Music] stuff the world has got in store. I want to take it all in. I’m falling the citycape by night. Want to catch my photos where you go. Every corner twice as bright. They’ll be my treasures forever. When I can’t hold you tight, I’ll see the Stockholm lights. The Stockholm lights. The Stockholm lights. [Music] The Stockholm lights. The Stock lights. [Music] Stockholm lights. The beam lights. Tomorrow feels a year away like the seconds the beginning and the end. But if in time it’s yesterday, your picture’s going to bring it home to me again. The world is waiting. The world is waiting. Half a step beyond our door. [Music] And if it’s not enough, I want to see the stuff the world has got in. I want to take it all in. I’m falling the cityscape by night. Want to catch my photos where you go. Every corner twice as bright. There’ll be my treasures forever. When I can’t hold you tight, I’ll see the Stockholm lights. The Stockholm lights.
Have you heard of Koshin-to stones? Koshin belief dates back to Chinese Taoism, but in Japan it is a complex belief that is intricately intertwined with folk beliefs and customs. The Sanshi insects, which live in the human body from birth, are said to escape from their hosts on the night of Koshin Day and tell the Heavenly Emperor of their hosts’ sins, thereby shortening their host’s lifespan. For this reason, people stay up all night watching for the three corpse insects to escape.
Koshin Day comes around every 60 days. This means that a Koshin meeting is held every 60 days. It was probably also a place for socializing and exchanging information. This is the Koshin-ko. The reason why the Sanshi insects do this is because they become free when their host dies. Koshin Day comes around every 60 days.
This time I visited two Koshin-to stones. The first one was in Yagasawa, Kamisatomi-cho, Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture. This Koshin tower is a stone shrine with three corpse insects carved into the front. I went to see what they looked like.
The next place I visited was Iwamuro Shrine in Iwamuro, Shirasawa-cho, Numata City, Gunma Prefecture. There is a Koshin five-story pagoda here, with a high-five monkey engraved on it.
Please enjoy watching the video.

Fascinating! I had heard a little about Koshin-to before, but I didn’t realize how deeply it connects Taoist beliefs, folk customs, and social gatherings. The carvings on the stones and pagoda are incredible too.
