there was an earthquake a few weeks ago I
will try and walk down this edge without breaking my neck Be careful of the crows You
can actually see the icicles hanging at the top here You really need to be careful on
this sheet ice because there’s no medical services I keep thinking I’m 38 not 58 This is a
little bit much for a 60 58 yeras old Oh my god [Music] okay going to have a quick look up
the valley to inspect the road that we’ve got to drive tomorrow and we’ll
mostly be live streaming so I want to have a look at the terrain and also make
sure the van is easily passable up there [Music] Just going up to the top of the
village to show you over the town uh we’ll go that way This is not the main highway
so don’t worry [Music] Hola Hey [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] cracking walls [Music] And that’s a quick look at the
back streets of some of these villages really friendly people [Music] This is the R703 The van will be in first gear all the way up here okay the R703 used to be partly
tarmac and partly gravel but now they’ve asphalted it all the way through there has been some landslides at the top and
hopefully today it’s not too cold up there [Music] down there is where the valley is
and that’s where the waterfall is and the great gorge it’s about an 8 km trek
down there but well worth a visit [Music] another campsite and we start to
rise into the snow levels [Music] Now it gets steep [Music] I’d heard a lot about the landslides up
here there was an earthquake a few weeks ago I think it was 4.4 bike’s doing well It’s able to adjust the fuel
mix uh to air ratio but of course the van is 20 odd years old and doesn’t have the capability
of that and welcome to the top of the world I’m just going to go around here because I do
know I’ve been told there’s some landslides It’s a bit brisk up here [Music]
Well that’s passable no problem [Music] Well I came up to the top to inspect
the road and they have completely repaved it the road is in perfect condition it’s
bitterly cold but the view is incredible take a look down there and I will try and walk down this
edge without breaking my neck and let me just flick the camera around [Music] just off the main road is a
track that runs all the way down to the waterfalls and to a famous stone and
this is halfway down but I’ve just had to stop to allow my camera to charge
and have a break okay we’ve driven up mostly 4 kilometers on a dirt track and
we use the motorbike if you’ve got a camper you’re going to have to walk It is quite
a flat area but it is a bit of a hike and then another 2 kilometers up or 1 kilometer
up here will get to the waterfall [Music] okay I’m here at Agoudal waterfall and this
is a spectacular waterfall that has only just started to go in flood and that’s
because the snow and ice is melting You can actually see the icicles hanging at
the top here and the whole walkway which we’re going to have to climb is covered
in sheet ice okay there is a staircase the locals have made and this goes all the
way up here but you can see the ice at the top and it is not for the unfit It is a hard
climb and this stair system is quite tricky [Music] Now the first time I came up here
I was actually attacked by some of these crows because I believe
they’re nesting at the top here you can see all the ice behind me [Music] what I do for you lot to make
films you really need to be careful on this sheet ice because there’s no medical
services anywhere to be found around here now I smoke and I do drink and this is hard
work but it’s going to be worth every minute that’s why I’ve come up here twice once on
my own and once with all the camera gear but you can see all the icicles and you
really need to be careful looking above to make sure none of these are dropping
on your head It is very very tricky and sometimes you’ve even got to go down on all
fours to get across to the concrete [Music] now we’ve come to the awkward bit and luckily the
sun has been on this a bit the bridge that used to go from here to over there has completely
gone so you have to try and get across But a lot of the ice has melted from the other day so
I am lucky it’s a lot less tedious than it was [Music] safe once you’re on this side it’s a staircase but the steps are made for giants
not old bargers like me [Music] I think I’m at somewhere in the
region of 2,700 m so excuse me panting like anything but the air is thin here once you actually get up onto the footway it’s not too bad and you haven’t got too
far to go only a few hundred meters there is a walkway that runs up
the valley but I haven’t done that [Music] if this existed I would be calling it to get back to the bike whoever decides to
write taxi is a sarcastic bugger the top plateau and what a
view it is from here [Music] okay then you got to trapes through the rock system and this leads you up to the arch It
gets a bit tight in some places but do keep an eye out for any icicles because
you don’t want them landing on you be careful of the edge It’s a long way down [Music] [Music] leads down to the other side and then
you can see the cave system at the bottom you got to go down a staircase or
highway to hell and then a staircase to heaven I seem to have found
a lot of these in the mountains I keep thinking I’m 38 not 58 they’ve done a lot of work the locals
to try and make this safe for people welcome to the great big overpass okay from
here you can get up if you’re careful and go all the way around but it is too narrow for
an old guy like me uh it’s quite dangerous edging all the way around here but it
is a spectacular view down this gorge and that’s the end of the trail for me because I’m
no mountaineer but have a look up at this gorge Now we go down to the cave
system And I just saw something now we go down to the cave system
and I just saw something drip and this is the entrance to the cave
system and this is the real reason why I came here a second time because I
bought some professional lighting gear I bought my Gordox photography light and
hopefully we can get some good footage in here [Music] from here it gets pitch black
So I’m turning the light on so I can see [Music] and this is where the water originates from and they’ve built a bridge but I’m just checking oh my god It was worth coming back up this
is like Cheddar Gorge but no tourists and I can see there’s
a staircase passage down [Music] here it’s very hard to film We’ll continue up here [Music] carefully What the heck have they made here [Music] [Music] well if they built it it’s for climbing I hope they built this well [Music] okay coming on to the next level and the roof
is spectacular please no earthquakes today lots of hidden passages but I haven’t got
enough lighting equipment or anything and this continues my god keep an
eye on the torch batteries and my colleague just found a puddle that rock looks like it might have come [Music] down and that’s as far
as I’m going because that is deep water I’m not going to get soaking wet for you
lot but the passage does go on and there is no way to trapes over this the only way is through
it and you do need Wellies and I’m not going to climb for the simple reason it’s too dangerous and
I’m not too sure how much lighting we’ve got left I’ve changed the lighting now just so you can
have a look around here and I’ll keep changing it over I have the pleasure to present to you
It is absolutely stunning I think we’ll leave the rave lighting for the moment [Music] today
but I wish I had Weiders or proper equipment for going through the whole of this system I do
like it in the purple and that is spectacular You could really have a party in here
with the right lighting equipment [Music] [Music] that water is waist deep and it’s too cold for me
to go across okay working our way back and also keeping an eye on anything above but that was
the big rock looks like it’s been down recently [Music] [Music] and I’m trying to avoid the
puddle that Berkay got soaked in [Music] and now the descent on the staircase [Music] [Music] and then this goes across but
you can see all the stallic mites and stalactites that are all around you so many different caves to explore only
if I knew these things were here I’d have been bringing the right lighting equipment
and look at that stall might stallite sorry look at that stalactite underneath the staircase
coming out going across and working our way out and that is a heck of a drop down that’s
got to be 20 10 m 15 looking up at the roof I can see light at the end of
the tunnel as they say [Music] okay heading back out because
all the camera batteries are low but what an incredible place unreal
and this place most probably gets one or two tourists a day It’s a pity
the graffiti artists have been in here I’m so glad I bought this uh Gordox
light because you can really really play with this cave the lighting is incredible okay carefully walking out
again Heading for the daylight okay I hope you really enjoyed the video we’ve
got a few other videos which are really worth watching on the trip here and the trip back
going back down to the other valley Now we came up the RN12 or the N12 which it’s known
as now and we’re going to be going back down the R704 which used to be called one of the most
treacherous roads in the whole of North Africa Now I’ve taken the motorbike all the way to the top
of the mountains here which takes me up to 3,000 m and that should be a spectacular video I’ve
kitted out the van with a 360 camera to trail all the way up the mountain and down the other
side and that’ll be taking me all the way down to Tizguine or the Dades Gorge I think it’s called
look forward to seeing you on the next one please remember to buy the parts office thanks very much
indeed for watching I hope you enjoyed the video
Get ready for a high-altitude adventure on two wheels! In this third chapter of our Atlas Mountain journey, I hop on my bike and set off from Hotel Kasbah Citoyenne to explore the hidden corners of Agoudal village, before tackling one of the most dramatic routes yet, the climb towards the R704 road.
Riding through the backstreets of Agoudal, I get a closer look at local life in this remote mountain village which is peaceful, authentic, and completely untouched by mass tourism. Then it’s time to push upward all the way to nearly 3000 metres above sea level. The views? Absolutely breathtaking.
But the real gem of the day is the visit to the Akhiam Cave that is a stunning natural wonder featuring a picturesque waterfall, a naturally formed rock arch and dramatic rock formations (Stalactite) sculpted by thousands of years of erosion.
