Niigata Tsukioka Onsen Shiratama no Yu Kaho Hello, this is Koya. I am currently in Niigata Prefecture This time, I will stay at a hot spring inn called ‘Shiratama no Yu Kaho,’ which has been ranked number one in the overall rankings of ‘100 Selected Hotels and Ryokans in Japan’ chosen by professionals I used to live in Niigata, but I’ve never been to this hot spring, so I’m looking forward to it today Well then, let’s go! I am currently at Niigata Station It seems there is a shuttle bus from Toyosaka Station, which is about 20 minutes from Niigata Station, to the accommodation First, I will head to the accommodation I have arrived in front of the ticket gate at Niigata Station I will take the train to Murakami from here We have arrived at Toyosaka Station There is proper shuttle bus information in front of the ticket gate I came out of the station I couldn’t read the kanji for ‘Toyosaka Station’ because it was difficult There is a small shopping street in front of the station Right in front of you as you exit the south gate, there is a shuttle bus to Tsukioka Onsen It takes about 20 minutes to get to Tsukioka Onsen by shuttle bus We have entered the hot spring town We have arrived at the inn The presence of the accommodation is impressive I am really looking forward to seeing what the inside of the building is like There are also spots where you can take commemorative photos Well then, let’s go in Shiratama no Yu Kaho, standing on a hill in Tsukioka Onsen, Niigata Prefecture, is a ryokan that opened in 1997 This inn won the overall first place in the ’50th Selection of Japan’s Hotels and Inns by Professionals’ in 2025 It received the first prize in the facilities and planning category, with its well-equipped amenities and unique initiatives being highly praised Within the premises surrounded by a vast 6,000-tsubo garden, guests can enjoy the seasonal landscapes throughout the year The private hot spring ‘Shiratama no Yu’ boasts a beautiful emerald green sulfur spring with one of the highest sulfur content in the country This hot spring is mildly alkaline and is well-known for its skin-beautifying effects, earning it the nickname ‘beauty spring.’ The cuisine features kaiseki dishes that utilize seasonal ingredients from Niigata, allowing guests to savor local flavors The heartfelt hospitality of the staff provides visitors with a special experience The interior features a stunning vaulted ceiling that gently lets in natural light, creating a vibrant and elegant lobby space In the spacious area, seasonal flower arrangements and furnishings that reflect Niigata’s four seasons elegantly enhance the journey The luxurious and splendid atmosphere of the public area is somewhat similar to that of Kaga-ya, isn’t it? In the back, there are many tables and chairs where you can relax And beyond the spacious windows, a beautifully arranged Japanese garden view spreads out You can see the beautiful mountain scenery In this lobby space, there is a lounge area where you can enjoy light meals, drinks, and alcohol I would like to go have lunch now I arrived a little early and was able to do some video recording There are well-maintained roads around the inn, making it feel like a hot spring town And right in front of me, ‘Shiratama no Yu Senkei’ is part of the same group as Kaho Hanahou has a wider variety of rooms and more luxurious accommodations, and it seems that you can stay here at a slightly more reasonable price I’m also curious about this inn There is a map in front of the inn The top right shows the current location, and there are many shops lined up in the central area There are many shops that are newer and look better than I imagined There are also many breweries, chocolate shops, and cafes, so it seems that not only older people but also young people can enjoy it I came to the hot spring town I tried to go to a sushi restaurant earlier, but it was closed for the day This place is also closed for the day It’s not open for business This is something that happens often when traveling on weekdays Let’s look for a place to eat that is open I often see ‘Tsukioka Manju’, but is it famous? It looks delicious with various flavors There are flavors like edamame, mugwort, cheese, sesame, custard, and brown sugar I want to buy it on the way back Since it says ‘Tsukioka Manju Ganso’ here, it might be better to buy it here It also says ‘Tsukioka Manju Ganso’ here, but which one is the real original? We are arguing about the original There is a building that feels a bit rundown The ‘ru’ character in Joyful is missing This is the famous family restaurant ‘Joyfull’ that originated in Oita Prefecture There really aren’t any places to have lunch If you walk this way, you’ll find a building with a modern atmosphere This is a brewery, isn’t it? Can we eat food that goes well with beer, like sausages? It seems there are beers that are seriously crafted It seems like I could eat a hamburger, meat, or loco moco bowl The brewery we just visited was nice, but the ramen shop nearby is bustling, so shall we try going there? The store is bustling The menu is simply ramen There is a meat ramen with a lot of meat in it One free serving of extra noodles The ramen has arrived The soup looks delicious with a refreshing taste Let’s eat The soup is delicious The noodles are much softer compared to Hakata’s tonkotsu ramen, so they are completely different It feels like the noodles blend well with the light tonkotsu broth It’s delicious with a light tonkotsu broth that you can enjoy as a finishing dish after eating rice The tonkotsu ramen I had at the end of my trip to Niigata was delicious This place is just as delicious, proving that Niigata is indeed the ramen kingdom The quality is high for dishes other than soy sauce-based ramen You can trust me because I live in Fukuoka Since it’s free, I ordered an extra serving, and there’s quite a lot What is this? Do you put chili oil in ramen? The staff said it tastes good when they add it Is it really delicious? It’s tasty! People from Kyushu don’t put chili oil in tonkotsu ramen It tastes like ‘Sapporo Ichiban’, but it will be ‘Niigata Ichiban’ Is it really delicious? I’m still skeptical This is delicious in its own way Indeed, there are ramen dishes that have this addictive quality I think it’s because of this noodle that this flavor tastes so good What is this? It’s vinegar Do you also add vinegar? There’s no way adding vinegar makes it delicious Is it delicious? People from Kyushu don’t put vinegar in ramen It will be like chilled Chinese noodles, right? This looks like chilled Chinese noodles My opinion changed again right away I never thought I could enjoy such a variety of flavors in tonkotsu ramen I will buy Tsukioka manju Both shops offer the original Tsukioka manju I was unsure which one to choose, but I’ll go with this shop with the rising steam I completely fell into this marketing trap They are sold individually Having five pieces seems great because you can enjoy a variety of flavors Shall we buy the pack of five? Which one is the most popular? The thick brown strained bean paste is the most popular Let’s eat Tsukioka manju at the inn This entrance is amazing, isn’t it? This entrance has more presence than Kagaya The building being on a hill gives it a special feeling There are various foods lined up compared to earlier The drinks around here were also available earlier There is an afternoon tea service starting at 2 PM There are cakes and macarons here, and it says ‘sweets corner’ They are lined up over here as well Here, you can find manju, which is typical of hot spring areas And when it comes to Niigata, there are sasadango It seems to be filled with sweet potato paste Here, there are original Japanese sweets from the inn And there are ‘Happy Turn’ snacks made in Niigata It’s great to have a service where you can enjoy sweets unique to Niigata And in the back, there is even ice cream! I want to eat soda ice after coming out of the hot spring And when it comes to Niigata, it’s all about sake Sake is also available as an inclusive all-you-can-drink option We also have white wine and red wine here Additionally, beer is also all-you-can-drink “Yuzu Lager” is written here Over here, there are also carefully selected beers like “Spring Valley.” There’s also a candy gacha for your child to enjoy Mori-san, would you like to try the candy gacha? It’s for children only, so adults cannot participate An old man who acts like a child cannot use this gacha And there are also pancakes that you can cook yourself The variety of sweets is comparable to that of a breakfast buffet This is the first time I’ve experienced such inclusive service It’s impressive that this long-established inn also meets Western-style needs We have various types of sencha, bancha, and herbal tea available I just bought an onsen manju a little while ago, but with such great service, I didn’t need to buy it Since we have some time until check-in, I’ll have a snack here I will enjoy the unique Niigata sweet ‘Sasa Dango’ It has a really nice aroma It’s chewy and delicious I’ve loved yomogi mochi since I was a child It’s common for dumplings to be filled with red bean paste, so custard is quite rare, isn’t it? Just like the dumpling we had earlier, you can enjoy various flavors in this hot spring town There was also a brewery, and despite being a long-established inn, it has a lot of diversity And when you think of Niigata, you think of ‘Kameda Seika’ (a snack manufacturer), right? Kameda Seika is the main sponsor of Albirex Niigata The rice-producing region of Niigata has delicious rice crackers There are surprisingly large companies in Niigata Companies like Kameda Seika, Bourbon (a confectionery manufacturer), and Komeri (a home center) are present *Komeri originally started as a rice shop Sanjo Tsubame is full of metal crafts, isn’t it? This area is known for its vibrant manufacturing culture, isn’t it? The shrine that supports the prosperity of manufacturing is said to be ‘Yahiko Shrine.’ I visited Yahiko Shrine before If you come here, you can expect a ‘Happy Turn’ (a type of snack) in your life, so look forward to it I was thinking about wanting to wipe my hands while eating this, and there are wet wipes on the table A ryokan that can provide such detailed care is amazing As expected of Japan’s number one ryokan There were also wet wipes available at Japanet Cruise Wet wipes are placed on the seats in the open space of Stadium City So it feels like there are wet wipes on the tables in the park Successful companies provide services like this thoroughly To the room Thank you for visiting us Our staff will kindly guide you to your room The breakfast venue is ahead The dinner venue is below This way is the large public bath On the right side, there are yukatas This is the elevator hall Your room is on the top floor, the 10th floor The paintings are different on each floor, aren’t they? It’s a painting of a golden pine tree on the top floor The room offers a view of the rice fields You can see the city view from the elevator hall This is the opposite direction from the guest rooms, isn’t it? The view differs depending on the guest room, right? The view from the room offers two options: one facing the city and the other facing the rice fields Your room is 3104 Please come in We just had the staff explain the guest room to us in detail, but let’s do a room tour together with everyone It’s rare to find sliding doors in a long-established inn Since it has been renovated, the barrier-free access is also perfect First, there is a spacious entrance area The left hand can easily go up in the wheelchair as well I think I’ll start by going to the living room The art on the right side here is also lovely Especially, this red stone can be seen all over the building I often see this red ball, but what is it? It is called ‘Sado’s red stone’ and is a type of stone containing iron, such as red iron ore, produced on Sado Island They have this in the large public bath too, right? The stones in the large public bath were also red There are red stones in front of the entrance as well The living room is just beyond this sliding door I will open it What a spacious living room! First, there is a space for a Japanese-style room in the front On the left side, there is actually a massage chair inside the room It’s the perfect relaxation space This room has just been renovated, so while it is an established inn, it has a functional and modern design I believe the hard aspects of the guest rooms are superior to those at Kaga-ya The area further in is the bedroom space It’s a beautiful bed The headboard has a calm color scheme while still feeling luxurious I’m curious about the colored paper placed in the middle A wonderful message is written on the Hinomaru (Japanese flag) Something like an amulet is placed on the back of this kumiko (wood joinery) work You can feel the thoughtful details designed for the customers There is a large television by the window And this cradle chair is nice, isn’t it? You can’t often see this at long-established hot spring inns If you sit here, you can enjoy a wonderful view like this The snowy landscape of this basin truly makes you feel like you’ve come to Niigata In the distance, you can see majestic snow-capped mountains and towering peaks The lower mountains in the foreground are green, creating a wonderful view It’s worth booking the top floor to see this And then I’ll go back to the living room once more There is a large sofa here where you can stretch out and relax The design of the blankets around here is also lovely And in the center of the table, there are the original sweets from the inn that were also in the lounge below And there are paper balloons placed as well You can see efforts to entertain not just adults but also children everywhere It’s important for adults like me to take time to return to a childlike heart and enjoy things Is this an air purifier? The names of the mountains visible from the guest room are written here I don’t know how to read it, but this mountain is the tallest, isn’t it? And here is the key to the room I’ll try opening this box There are things with a sense of life hidden in this box Next to it, there is a coffee maker There is a Balmuda electric kettle and some water Here you can find various types of tea and coffee The cups are placed like this It’s a cute design There is a tea set including sencha here There are also wet wipes and chopsticks There is a refrigerator here There is nothing inside the refrigerator I suppose you are invited to enjoy the drinks in the lounge The lighting around here also has a design aspect This is the tokonoma (alcove) The paintings displayed around here are lovely too Is this a painting inspired by the mountains of Niigata? There is a door at the back of the bedroom I will open this Here he is! I plan to stay here for a while This is a ‘closet where you can sleep here.’ There is enough space for you to lie down and actually sleep here There is a spacious area where you can organize this luggage There is a hanger in the back This is a basket that you can take when going to a hot spring This is essential at a hot spring inn There is a valuables box here There are brushes and deodorant spray There is also a cute pouch for small items I want to take this home There are also sewing tools There is a yukata in here There are two designs available to choose from There is a yukata included here as well This one has a slightly different size and design, so it might be for ladies This is a haori garment At the very bottom, there is a samue Since the top and bottom are separated, there are people who prefer this style I also prefer a samue There is a full-length mirror And there is a door here as well, making it a design with circulation It’s just been renovated, so it has a modern design like recent houses I’ll try opening the door at the back This is the bathroom There is a washbasin in the toilet, and there is also a hanging scroll The toilet is neatly arranged, and the little playful touches are nice too The toilet paper is wrapped so beautifully like this And then we will go through this door This is the path that leads to the bath The changing area is really spacious There is also a towel heater on the right side Here, the towels are placed like this There is also a bathrobe underneath Having two sinks is wonderful It’s great to have two since we’re staying here with two people today The design of this centerpiece is amazing This area has amenities Dental floss and other items are also provided It’s my first time seeing detergent available at a lodging They probably have what is necessary as a result of trying to meet various customer needs I’ve never seen such a well-stocked selection of amenities They have a ReFa hair dryer, a hair straightener, and a curling iron as well We have all the skincare products from Detaille La Maison, including toners, lotions, and cleansers This area has similar offerings at other accommodations, so it’s not unique Everything is available for men as well I am amazed by the quality of service regarding this high-end hair dryer iron There are still more I haven’t used it, but there is also a device from Refa for facial massage They even have things like this here This is one of the top-class accommodations I’ve stayed at in terms of amenities And there is a magnifying glass on the right There is a löyly for private sauna use here You can enjoy three types of aromas to your liking It has been designed so that you won’t get bored even if you spend a lot of time in the sauna during your stay Let’s go see the sauna and the outdoor bath The shower room is on the front side Is the head shower also from Refa? You can choose from four shower modes They pay attention to every detail Here, you will also find the Detail La Maison shampoo, body soap, and conditioner There is a cold water bath on the right side When you go outside, the first thing you see is a spacious outdoor bath This is a high-quality bathtub where two people can soak together and stretch out comfortably Unfortunately, this is not a hot spring Tsukioka Onsen is a sulfur spring, so its components are quite strong and the pipes tend to wear out quickly Since the hot spring components are strong, let’s enjoy the hot spring in the large public bath and take a relaxing soak in the gentle water in the guest room However, this view can only be enjoyed from the guest room on the 7th floor Being in the open air allows you to feel more connected to nature, and the air is delicious, creating the best mood Since you can enjoy this view, you’d want to soak in the bath in the guest room as well I am happy that there are chairs here where I can enjoy the fresh air You can enjoy not only the bath but also a sauna with a löyly This is what the sauna looks like Since it’s a newly built sauna, the scent of cypress and the steam is soothing Let’s enjoy the sauna, open-air bath, and the stunning view in the guest room, and also enjoy the hot spring in the large public bath I will stay here for one night today When I see this view, I feel glad that I booked the top floor Experiencing the lounge and the staff’s service, I can feel that this is truly Japan’s best ryokan in various ways This guest room can accommodate two people with two meals included, starting from around 40,000 yen per person Even with the sauna, the price doesn’t skyrocket, so it feels quite affordable However, since there are large public baths, private spas, and reserved baths, I think you’ll be satisfied even with rooms that don’t have an outdoor bath You can stay in the most reasonably priced room starting from the 20,000 yen range This is a宿 that I can truly recommend to a variety of people Let’s go see the large public bath with excellent water quality When you exit the elevator, there is a nice corridor to your left The large public bath is on the right side over here The men’s bath is straight ahead, and the women’s bath is to the left As you head towards the women’s bath, there is actually a pond It’s nice to be able to enjoy this wonderful atmosphere after taking a bath There are also many koi swimming around There are also large koi with golden scales I like the sound of the water trickling gently The center is designed like a stage, highlighting the flowers, and you can feel the attention to detail in the presentation This is an open space, and the upper area is the guest room There are many artworks displayed on the walls around here And right in front of the large public bath here, there is a shrine This is said to be Shiratama Shrine The name of this inn is ‘Shiratama no Yu Kaho’ It is said that the quality of this hot spring is rich in amazing skin-beautifying ingredients, which is why it is referred to as Shiratama It is also written here that ‘there was a god who tried to open a hot spring that could make people beautiful.’ ‘For the sake of protection, it is written that there is a white, ball-like egg.’ I think ‘white ball’ refers to the hot spring flowers and the components for beautiful skin At the entrance of the large public bath, there is a decorative item whose price I have no idea about It exudes a presence unlike anything I’ve seen elsewhere You rarely come across such beautiful round marble-like stones with a marbled color Now, let’s go to the large public bath The area ahead is a tatami space The center is a tatami area The space after the bath is also a very spacious area There is a vending machine on the right side The staff is restocking the vending machine And in the back right, there are decorations made of bamboo and flowers, creating a thoughtful atmosphere On the opposite side, there is a kids’ space, which is helpful for those with children Moreover, there is also a corner for children’s snacks Sweets will be available when the business hours start This side is the women’s bath This is a shared area for both men and women to relax after bathing In front of you, there is an inclusive drink service It’s quite rare to find a lodging that offers this many drinks in the bathing area What shines about being the best ryokan in Japan is their attention to these small details in service Not only drinks, but there are also limited edition ice candies available The ice candy that was in the lobby lounge earlier is also here They have even prepared miso soup for us This is the first time I’ve stayed at an inn that provides miso soup in the bathhouse I’m going to the large public bath They have also prepared bath towels for us I’m coming in There is a massage chair on the left There is only one, so it seems like it will be a competition, but it’s nice to have a service like this And there is also a water service like this This area serves as the post-bath relaxation space In the spacious area, there are also lockers for valuables on the right It’s amazing that there is such a splendid washbasin and powder room in the men’s bath as well In this area, there are just the right amount of shaving supplies and various amenities available There is also a ReFa hairdryer placed here, which is wonderful Is what is on the right a beauty device? The men’s bath has amenities that are just as abundant as the women’s bath I am entering the bathroom In front of me, there is a spacious indoor bath Since it’s quite a large-scale inn, the indoor bath also has a spacious area It doesn’t seem like it will be crowded with a lot of people Shampoos and treatments are also available There is also a break area I wonder if there is a sauna somewhere On the other side, there are also plenty of items for children On that side, there is a spacious area for washing your body I found a sauna over here There is a cold bath on the left side On the right side, there is a sauna In this day and age, a sauna is absolutely necessary in a large public bath Personally, I’m happy because I definitely want a sauna It has become a spacious area like this Now, let’s go to the open-air bath This is a paid body scrub room The atmosphere from the large public bath is also wonderful Seeing this snowy landscape really makes me feel like I’ve come to Niigata This is a roofed open-air bath The greenish color of the water feels nice It’s a color that expresses the quality of the water at Tsukioka Onsen The open-air bath continues all the way to the back over here The color of the hot spring changes depending on the sunlight and the depth of the bathtub This is a reclining bath Further inside, there is a spacious open-air area This is the most spacious area inside the open-air bath You can clearly see that the hot spring here is green You can’t see this color in the bath of the room Seeing this color makes you feel that it’s a sulfur hot spring Furthermore, on the left side over here, there is another bathtub This one says ‘lukewarm water’ You can also enjoy the differences in temperature of the hot springs Moreover, the area around the water outlet has a nice atmosphere as well It seems that the indoor bath is not a source-flowing hot spring The outdoor bath has a fairly strong sulfuric quality, so the indoor bath is designed to be a bit milder to reduce the stimulation Additionally, there is an indoor heated pool right outside the large bath The usage fee is 500 yen, so it’s cheap The pool has a spacious feel like this In summer and even in the middle of winter, the water is warm, so you can swim comfortably After passing through the elevator hall in front of the large public bath, the atmosphere around here is really lovely Is this the dining area? This place has beautifully flowing water and has become a flower garden This area is really impressive with its authentic construction The large windows let in plenty of sunlight, creating an open and airy atmosphere The windows extend all the way up, so the amount of light is incredible The carpet is also adorned in blue, creating a refreshing atmosphere And if you look outside here, you’ll find a lovely garden There is a stage-like area around that spot This is the garden of the inn It is snowing today, but this area is also suitable for strolling and enjoying You can come back once more; there is a private bath here It says private spa I will try going here too It seems there is a private spa at the end of this corridor after going outside Going outside once gives a feeling like a private inn, which is nice and adds to the sense of privacy First, I will enter the private bath called ‘Tsuki no Fune’ Once I step inside, it feels really nice A spacious area for relaxing after a bath is available It seems like you can spend a calm moment in the tatami space There are also artworks displayed in the back left corner You can use it for about 4400 yen per hour I think it’s cheap considering the quality of this facility Various towels and baskets are placed around here There is a cup below If you open the door on the right, there is a refrigerator There is water inside this refrigerator You can probably get this for free This is a locker area You can hang your clothes here And beyond this door is the restroom The restroom is also barrier-free and has a very spacious layout There are also handrails There are baby goods and scales around here And in the center, there is a large, comfortable chair I’m happy that there are two sinks There is a Dyson hair dryer This area is also equipped with cups and men’s amenities The mirror is large and looks easy to use Niigata is a cold area, so they have properly placed heaters around here Now, let’s go into the bathroom The shower room is also a spacious area When you step outside, there is a chair here where you can relax slowly and comfortably In front of you, there is a spacious bathtub that is completely reserved for you This is a spacious bathtub that can easily accommodate four family members The rough, colorful stones in the back are amazing, aren’t they? There are also red stones Beyond that, you can see the majestic mountains This is truly a luxurious private spa It resembles a garden, and there are trees flourishing in this area as well There is also a space here where you can take a little break And I’m going to check out the other one called ‘Star Boat’ as well The layout here is a bit different This side has a more spacious area with tatami mats Towels are placed in the back The water facilities around here are the same as the bath we had earlier I’ll go outside This one is nice too This beautiful round bathtub seems to be about the same size as the previous one and looks comfortable This one feels more open as you can see further back to the right corner The mountains in the back are also beautifully visible in large numbers The facilities for the private bath are also well-equipped Next to the door to the private bath, there is a ‘Table Tennis & Game Corner’ It is currently closed The shop that was closed during check-in is now open Shall we take a quick look at what they have? First, at the entrance, there are many souvenirs of sweets from Niigata There are cookies from Momotaro Ice that the locals love I had Momotaro Ice for the first time the other day, and it was incredibly delicious That really feels like the quintessential ice cream you want to have after a bath Here, you can also find original sweets from the inn On the right side, there are seafood snacks like black throat sea bream crackers and snow crab crackers There are also many snacks from Kameda Seika There are also souvenirs related to the city of Niigata, where the inn is located There are monaka and dorayaki Speaking of Niigata, there is a lot of sake available for sale If you have good sake and delicious rice, every meal feels delicious, so I believe that the rice from Niigata is the best in Japan There is also Koshihikari rice from Uonuma I’m thinking of sending this home Here you can also find the famous Niigata specialty, sasa dango You can also buy the Tsukioka manju we just bought earlier here Niigata is also famous for its wheat gluten, which is commonly eaten Here, you can find the local specialty of Niigata, ‘hegisoba’ being sold There is tea in the right hand This area is known for its delicious rice, so there are plenty of side dishes that go well with rice There are side dishes like seaweed and fish cakes that seem to make Niigata’s white rice even more delicious Just by looking around here, you can tell that the variety of souvenirs is quite impressive They are lined up all the way over to the left side here There are also clam miso soup and black throat seaperch miso soup There are many things that seem like they would make my family happy when I bring them home Since it’s called ‘Ramen Kingdom Niigata’, there are plenty of ramen options as well Niigata Prefecture is known for its active manufacturing, so there are many such goods available Especially in Niigata’s Tsubame-Sanjo, it is famous for its thriving metal processing There are tumblers around here A teacup made from this material is quite rare, isn’t it? There are also designs that evoke mountains This kettle seems to have a high rarity that justifies its price This is a kettle made in Niigata The famous manufacturer ‘SUWADA’ is also a company based in Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture There are also potato chips that seem perfect as a snack to enjoy with sake It seems you won’t have any trouble choosing souvenirs at the gift shop here The lineup is that well-stocked There are also many items that children are likely to enjoy The large shop here has limited operating hours The mini-convenience corner next door is open for quite a long time They really have snacks and other items like a convenience store If you want to enjoy an evening drink in your room, you can also buy alcohol here A variety of soft drinks are also available There is an area like this in one corner of the lobby space There is an executive lounge ahead This place doesn’t feel like an executive lounge of a foreign-affiliated hotel There is a stage in the back and a karaoke system, making it a venue where everyone can have fun together Of course, it’s designed to be enjoyable not only for groups but also for individuals The doors around here lead to karaoke rooms, you know Let’s take a little peek Isn’t this a classical and really nice atmosphere? You can’t experience such a stylish karaoke room in an ordinary city You can use the karaoke room here for 1500 yen per hour And you can also enjoy a beautiful view of the garden through the window This might be the most atmospheric karaoke room I’ve ever been in And over here, there is also a space that resembles a water area It seems that all the drinks placed here are available inclusively It seems that you can have the snack set if you order it There are also glasses and containers for ice There is also an ice maker and a refrigerator below this There are a lot of drinks like alcohol inside the refrigerator There are Premium Malts and ginger ale available It even has wine here! It even has sake from Niigata! Isn’t that amazing? I’ve never seen a karaoke place with such a great selection of drinks For now, I want to enjoy some time in the bath and sauna in the guest room It feels good The guest room’s open-air bath with a view is the best Just soaking in the warm hot spring while feeling the cold wind makes me feel happy It’s unfortunate that the guest room’s open-air bath isn’t a hot spring, but that’s my lack of research This time will be for enjoying the sauna Since this accommodation promotes the components of the hot spring, I actually want to soak in the hot spring at this moment But the large public bath is off-limits for photography during this time, so I can’t share it with everyone This guest room’s open-air bath also offers a stunning view The area in the back is shining in orange It’s quite rare to create an open-air bath with this much sense of openness When there are many people in front of you, it’s hard to focus, but here, surrounded by a vast rural landscape, you can enjoy such a luxurious bath experience And what you can’t experience in a private bath or a large public bath is this Löyly sauna This is a privilege of this room The heat spreads all at once, and it’s amazing The aroma of the löyly is also too luxurious It’s the best to be able to enjoy the sauna while looking at the snowy landscape and snow-capped mountains through the window right in front of me If you have a top-floor room with a sauna, I recommend it even though the outdoor bath isn’t a hot spring You can use the hot spring tonight and tomorrow morning I think it’s better for your body to occasionally soak in a sauna or regular hot water rather than just staying in the sulfur spring all the time I definitely think it will help you get back in shape Not only the hospitality of the inn, but also the hard aspects around here are very satisfying This is just too amazing Dinner It’s time for the enjoyable dinner The courtyard is illuminated The decorations around here are amazing There is a picture of a deer Dinner will be served in this room Thank you There is a smoking area straight ahead, and next to it is the restroom Thank you A private room with a view of the courtyard has been prepared for us The red glass in front of me contains a non-alcoholic plum wine-flavored drink and a tea cocktail May I explain the dish to you? Inside the temari is tofu made from milk called ‘Mineoka Tofu’ And we have a local specialty from Niigata, ‘Kaki no Moto no Ohitashi’, which is a dish made with edible chrysanthemums This is homemade squid salted fish This is nanohana with white vinegar This is beef Hachiman roll, served with spicy lotus root and red konjac with miso This is a walnut candy boiled in sake and served with rice crackers The staff kindly explained the dishes to us Here is the menu The menu is lined up from the right hand to the left hand This time, I chose the commemorative plan that has been awarded first place nationwide There is a tasting comparison between Murakami beef and Niigata beef There are also luxurious seafood dishes like lobster miso soup I splurged a bit There are detailed explanations written below This is the drink menu The first page has beers listed The next page is for non-alcoholic and soft drinks So, there is Chinese tea There are quite a few varieties On the right, there are highballs, sours, cocktails, and umeshu After all, when it comes to Niigata, it’s all about sake A variety of sake sourced from different regions within Niigata Prefecture is lined up There is also the famous sake called ‘Kubota’ On the right hand, there are whiskey, brandy, and shochu as well It’s Japanese cuisine, but there is also a rich selection of wines I believe there is one winery in Niigata Prefecture, right? There is also a menu of local sake bottles on a different sheet of paper There are options like Hakkaisan And this is craft beer, right? There is a beer called Emerald Ale that is exclusive to Tsukioka Onsen Incredibly, there is a 2-hour all-you-can-drink menu For 2200 yen, you can drink all the alcohol and soft drinks you want Soft drinks are 880 yen, which is quite cheap This is a nice service for those who drink a lot All-you-can-drink service at a ryokan is rare The Murakami beef and the Niigata beef are already on the table It looks delicious Can everyone read this? This is read as ‘SHIBATA’ There is no one in Niigata Prefecture who cannot read this kanji First, let’s toast with an aperitif Men really prefer to drink in one go That’s non-alcoholic, you know This is a cocktail of plum wine and black tea Even though it’s a Japanese inn, it includes black tea as a Western touch It has a refined flavor And here is the appetizer I forgot what dish is in this cute little bowl It was definitely tofu, right? The milky flavor of the tofu, reminiscent of almond jelly, is nicely complemented by a hint of yuzu’s acidity, making it delicious This is a squid salad The sesame sauce has a slight tanginess that balances well with the sweetness and acidity The squid doesn’t have a strong fishy smell I’m curious about this nut that looks like a walnut and is coated in sesame The nuttiness and sesame aroma combined with a caramel-like sweetness make this delicious And I ordered a beer This is a beer from a brewery I saw while walking around Tsukioka Onsen today It’s great that local ingredients are being used It seems they have the most popular beer from that brewery on tap here Cheers! This is the taste of a new, uniquely textured beer I heard it has a fruity sweetness like muscat, and it certainly has a strong sweetness But there is also a refreshing, crisp sensation in the throat The hops are really effective, and there’s a bitterness from the beer, but it’s also fruity and easy to drink That’s interesting As expected from a popular beer, it’s delicious Next, we have clam dumpling soup There is a large dumpling inside Now, I will enjoy the soup It’s a calming flavor of simple kombu broth I will enjoy the clam dumpling This is really delicious This clam not only has the flavor of seafood but also the refined taste of sake, which spreads in my mouth along with its fluffy texture, making it delicious It has an amazing refined flavor We have spiny lobster, red sea bream, flat shell clam, winter yellowtail, and tuna This square one is the seaweed salad Since we’re here, I’ll have some sake I ordered some sake from the Murakami area This Japanese-style broth goes well with sake It’s delicious It’s dry, but true to Niigata’s sake, it has a refreshing and slightly sweet flavor It feels like a dry sake that is also easy to drink The aftertaste is really refreshing I chose this one because I prefer a slightly drier taste The dashi and sake enhance each other’s umami flavors It’s the best I will eat sashimi First, it’s tuna It’s delicious There’s no way the fish served at the inns in Niigata isn’t delicious The tuna has zero odor and is definitely flavorful It’s simply delicious red meat tuna I will have the sea bream The sweetness is incredibly rich and sticky As expected of sea bream It’s not just a mild flavor; it has a slightly juicy feel to it With this much sweetness, this dry sake will definitely pair well The best pairing is sake with this dish Next is the shellfish It’s really luxurious to have five types of sashimi The clam is delicious It has a flavor similar to scallops It has a moderate elasticity and sweetness And it’s cold yellowtail It’s a fish that’s in season right now It’s so gooey It really feels like it disappears all at once the moment it enters your mouth The juicy umami spreads in my mouth The frost on this yellowtail is incredible It’s pure white And this time, I ordered a limited-time menu This is a commemorative menu selected as the number one ryokan by professionals It’s a spiny lobster It’s too delicious The juiciness of Ise lobster is definitely different from other shrimp With each bite, the umami and sweetness spread I can’t stop drinking this either YouTube has been strict about alcohol lately, so it might get banned The sake is so delicious that I’ll have another cup It’s the best The seafood in Niigata is the best in Japan Niigata is just too amazing Next, a colorful and cute dish was served It’s ‘Foie Gras Mochi with Hamanatto Steamed’ It contains plenty of vegetables There is foie gras mochi at the bottom I don’t really like foie gras because it has a strong smell, but this one has no odor at all Yet, the flavor of foie gras subtly lingers It has a chewy texture with just the right amount of sweetness that spreads out in flavor This is the ‘Grilled scallops and vegetables with millet gluten on a magnolia leaf with miso.’ The yellow part is millet gluten I might have never eaten grilled scallops on a magnolia leaf The scallop meat is really huge It truly has a satisfying texture As expected, the scallops from this northern country are delicious And this is warabi mochi It has a chewy texture and a subtle sweetness that makes it delicious The unique roasted aroma that comes from slightly grilling the miso in the bamboo leaf is irresistible This miso pairs well with sake, making it easy to enjoy more drinks It’s delicious The brown gravy sauce is a slightly sweet sauce made with meat juices and wine The center is lemon salt This is green onion and ponzu sauce Please enjoy it with your favorite sauce This is a comparison tasting of Murakami beef and Niigata beef This is Murakami beef Murakami beef looks a bit whiter and has more marbling And this is Shibata beef It’s grilling nicely The cooking level is just right I almost dropped it, that was close First, I will have Murakami beef The frost has set in, and it melts in my mouth just as I imagined It’s delicious In Niigata, it seems that Shibata beef is considered more premium My homeroom teacher during the time I was the most mischievous in elementary school was Mr. Murakami It’s a trivial story Next, I will have Niigata Shibata beef I had a friend named ‘Shibata’ when I was in high school Shibata sat in front of me I’m Koya, so that person was in the front seat according to the seating order I made a mistake, it was the back seat It’s a trivial matter, but the footage turned out great This one has a more pronounced flavor of red meat It’s more of a refreshing taste, to be honest Personally, I prefer Shibata beef How about you? I haven’t eaten it yet I had a female friend named ‘Shibata’, but the kanji was different I really think that such trivial and seemingly insignificant things brought happiness There is a song like that, isn’t there? I will have SHIBATA beef It’s a ‘night that you can never return to.’ When it comes to meat, I want rice, so it’s rice from Niigata Prefecture Surprisingly, miso soup with spiny lobster has been served Rice goes well with steak It’s delicious, isn’t it? Niigata rice is definitely reliable Recently, I actually stayed at an inn in Uonuma twice in a row I had Koshihikari rice cooked in a pot from Minami-Uonuma and Uonuma Honestly, compared to that, it feels a bit lacking I realized that the Koshihikari from Minami-Uonuma and Uonuma is on a different level But this is also produced in Niigata, so it’s delicious The quality of rice in Niigata is just too high But the quality of the meat at this inn is top-notch They didn’t serve miso soup with Ise lobster at that inn It’s the best Is it common to eat brand beef and Ise lobster together in miso soup? It’s truly an extraordinary experience Since it’s miso soup, it goes well with sake too I drank it all up And then the dessert came out at the end It’s a lot of fruit This pear seems to be a brand from Niigata It is grown nationwide, but it seems that pears are often harvested in Niigata Speaking of pears, the ones from my hometown are famous It’s rare to eat pears in winter It’s sweet and delicious And finally, you can choose either coffee or roasted green tea The ingredients in Niigata’s cuisine are truly of high quality, each one Both the seafood and the meat were delicious Basically, all the dishes were typical kaiseki cuisine It felt like the essence of a traditional Japanese inn was captured in the dishes, rather than a mix of Western food I was able to enjoy the delicacies of Niigata slowly in a private room It was delicious After the meal, we went to karaoke YouTubers are lonely Please leave a comment Good night The next day Good morning I wake up in the morning, take a shower, and relax in the outdoor hot spring This is the scenery This scenery is a wonderful sight created by Japan’s snow country, which is not usually seen On the right side, you can also see the sun shining beautifully in orange It’s wonderful to be able to gaze at such a fantastical scene from the morning I’m heading to the breakfast venue Breakfast is served in a huge hall that resembles a banquet venue There is a buffet corner at the back on the left side The lighting is dazzling and surprising I’ll go check out the buffet The corner names are clearly labeled, making it easy to understand Let’s start by looking at the Japanese food It says here that this is fried food and simmered konjac This is a simmered dish with taro and pumpkin In this area, there are side dishes like salads, blanched vegetables, kinpira gobo, and mentaiko Common Japanese foods such as pickled daikon, umeboshi, seaweed, and natto continue to be served On the far right, there is a raw egg On the opposite side, there are green beans with sesame and eggplant It says spicy miso It’s roast beef It’s a piece of deep-fried tofu And there are onsen eggs as well There are also bite-sized yudofu On the far left, there is udon Next, let’s take a look at the Western food section First up is the cutlet and scrambled eggs This is fried chicken It’s bacon and sausage It’s Chinese-style braised pork with a sauce and sweet and sour pork It’s napolitan pasta and hash browns The Western cuisine corner also has a rich selection of classic dishes It’s a cream stew with scallops and vegetables, along with curry In the center, there is a salad corner that looks like this There are many types of dressings There is a seafood bowl corner If you come to Niigata, you want to eat a seafood bowl, right? It’s tuna and salmon On the other side, there are shrimp and squid And there is also salmon roe At the very back, there is a live kitchen Here, there is a delicious-looking omelette This is the grilled fish corner We also have salmon and grilled mackerel There is also tempura There are still plenty left There is white rice There is also miso soup on this side There is tofu soup and clam soup This is the soup corner This is corn soup This is a steamed chicken mixed bean tomato soup This is a soup made with beef tendon broth This is a soup that is gentle on the stomach, perfect for the morning This is the bread section where you can find cheese bread, melon bread, and croissants On the opposite side, there is also sliced bread In this area, there are pineapples and grapefruits And there are bananas lined up On the opposite side, there is almond tofu and fruit punch There is also jelly that children would likely enjoy And there are green smoothies and a mix of berry juices lined up There is self-topping pizza available You can bake this pizza yourself in the oven next door So you put your favorite toppings on the pizza dough and bake it in the oven we just used Next to the pizza oven, there is also French toast This level of char looks delicious Next to it, there are various toppings lined up There are also some dough and tools available You can actually make freshly baked waffles here There is also ice cream next to it Since it’s the latter part of the buffet, the quantity is small, but various soft drinks are also lined up On the far right, there is drinkable yogurt as well There is also hot coffee on the other side On this side, there are also hojicha and black tea I have had breakfast This seafood bowl is definitely what I’m looking forward to the most There is a luxurious lineup of Japanese dishes perfect for breakfast I baked waffles for dessert It’s a luxury from the morning Let’s eat Smoothies are delicious in the morning Smoothies are a must for breakfast buffets It feels incomplete without smoothies This is a 100% vegetable smoothie It doesn’t have any added sweetness to make it easier to drink; it really feels like 100% vegetables It’s definitely good for your body This is fried tofu from Tochio City It’s delicious The outside is crispy while the inside is fluffy It seems that the fried tofu from Tochio City is famous nationwide, so I have heard of the place name Tochio Tochio’s fried tofu is thick and delicious I will have the seafood bowl There’s no fishy smell from the tuna I’ll have some salmon roe as well Seafood is generally delicious I was wondering if the freshness had declined because of leftovers from dinner, but that’s not the case Both the rice and seafood are delicious I’m satisfied with just this much seafood, miso soup, eggs, and natto for breakfast today I usually can’t indulge like this in the morning Since they are freshly baked, let’s enjoy the waffles The waffles are freshly baked, so they are crispy and fragrant I soaked in a hot spring last night From the moment I woke up in the morning, I could smell sulfur coming from my body The components of the hot spring are that strong, so I still have a bit of a sulfur smell I think I’ll take another dip in the hot spring after breakfast before checking out I’ll soak in the hot spring in the large public bath in the morning It’s definitely cold outside It feels nice The smell of sulfur was wafting strongly from the entrance of the large bath It’s the best Soaking up to my shoulders warms my body all at once As expected, it’s a sulfur spring, so the color is a bit greenish It’s rare for a sulfur spring to have a weak alkaline quality I’ve heard that there are other hot springs in Gunma and Nagano Prefectures with the same quality I’m looking forward to visiting Shirakubo Onsen in Nagano Prefecture next time With such a spacious bathtub, it feels like soaking in a hot spring while wandering through nature, which is nice The hot spring water is gushing out vigorously from here When you stand up, you can enjoy the beautiful mountains and rural scenery There are many little birds on this branch, and you can hear their chirping It’s a hot spring known for its excellent water quality, so the satisfaction level is high Similarly, the Kaga-ya hot spring, which was crowned the best in Japan last year, had a relatively simple, colorless, and transparent water Compared to other hot springs, this one has a higher level of satisfaction It’s definitely attractive that this unique mineral quality is rare nationwide, so you can’t experience it unless you come here It was a wonderful ryokan where the hot springs, meals, and service were all top-notch I hope everyone enjoys an extraordinary experience at Japan’s best ryokan Thank you for watching
