[4K]【バリ島ホテル宿泊記】Andaz Bali アンダーズ・バリ|サヌールのラグジュアリーリゾートレビュー

I checked out of the Hyatt Regency Bali and am heading to my next hotel. It’s about a 3-minute buggy ride along a lush green path. I arrived at a brick entrance that looks like the gate of a temple or ancient ruins. My third hotel in Bali is Andaz Bali. It’s part of Hyatt’s luxury category, alongside brands like Park Hyatt. The entrance sign from the main road is so subtle, I could have easily missed it. It’s located in southern Sanur, right next to the Hyatt Regency Bali. Security here is very strict. A corridor surrounds the square pond that extends from the drop-off area. In the center of the pond, four elephants welcome me. Perhaps it’s part of the design, but only white (platinum?) koi swim here. It’s beautiful, but a bit of a strange sight. The path leads me into the lobby. This small space is the reception. It’s the entrance to the “village” called Andaz Bali. I think the staff uniforms are really cute. Traditional thatched triangular roofs, with walls decorated in intricate carvings. Large basket-shaped lights immediately catch my eye. I check in at this lounge. It’s a lounge that all guests can use. I can enjoy soft drinks and snacks here all day. It’s open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. There are no club rooms or club access categories at Andaz Bali. I love being able to casually drop in for a nice drink. It’s just past noon. My room will take about an hour to be ready. After enjoying my welcome drink, I set out to explore the hotel. The greenery design here is different from Hyatt Regency. This lawn area, “Village Square,” often hosts events. Here’s the meeting studio. Four restaurants line the square around the lawn. “Wok Wok” serves Indonesian and other Asian ethnic cuisine. Wherever I sit, I can order from any of the four kitchens—
it’s an open dining style. Of course, I can charge everything to my room. At the far end is “Fire Fox,” an Asian steakhouse. “Deli & Bakery” offers coffee, baked goods, and desserts. And “Blue Oven,” featuring Mediterranean and wood-fired dishes. With so many seats, I probably don’t need a reservation. I saw a tree called the “Lucky Tree.” If a fruit falls on my head…
First time: I’m lucky. Second time: I’m blessed.
Third time: I’m loved. A Balinese legend, but… is it really true? ⛑️ I can rent a bicycle for free. Most of the beach chairs don’t have umbrellas. Even those that do are often closed, probably because of the wind. The fifth restaurant: Fisherman’s Club. It’s a seafood-focused restaurant. Here, I can’t order food from the other restaurants. I’ll come back later. The largest and most expensive room: the Beach Pool Villa. Two bedrooms, about 578 square meters. It costs around 260,000 yen, tax and service included. Between Andaz and Hyatt Regency, there’s a sea turtle conservation center called Sea Turtle Village. It protects turtle eggs and helps hatchlings return safely to the sea. Visiting is free. With a reservation, I can even try feeding them. Baby turtles! So tiny! There’s a donation box—please consider supporting them. Sanur Beach, with lots of seaweed again today. I’m back at the Fisherman’s Club. I ordered the signature iced tea. For the appetizer, some kind of fried leaf. The Andaz Beef Cheeseburger. The patty is so meaty—absolutely perfect! With the burger and iced tea, it costs about 2,600 yen (including 21% tax and service). For a luxury hotel, that seems quite reasonable. If I have the WhatsApp app on my phone, they automatically add the hotel contact when I check in. I can connect with the concierge, so I can make spa or restaurant reservations, or request anything I need, all via messages without rushing. I got a message that my room is ready, so I go to collect the key. My room is… surprisingly above the restaurant. I was a bit concerned at first, but there’s no smell or noise at all. Being closest to the lobby is actually very convenient. This building has no elevator, so I use the stairs. The key case is very elaborate. There are only three guest rooms in this building. I open the door! A small shelf for glasses, room keys, and other items. There’s also a stool, handy when putting on shoes. Deluxe King Room, 51㎡. I thought I had booked a Standard King Room, but it seems I actually reserved the Deluxe King. It’s not an upgrade. Rooms other than suites and villas are based on Standard and Deluxe layouts. The price varies depending on the view from the window and other factors. Soft lighting and a Bluetooth speaker alarm clock. At the bedside, there’s a light controller, a universal outlet, and two USB ports. This speaker looks cool—wonder what brand it is? The headboard is made of batik, adding a nice touch. There’s the same setup on the other side of the bed. Next to the living space sofa, there’s also an outlet and USB ports. I can charge my phone or laptop while relaxing on the sofa. The huge sofa might even be bigger than an extra bed. A round ottoman adds an accent. Peanut snacks and a welcome gift. The hotel’s original jam is a great souvenir. 65-inch large smart TV. I can connect my phone with Google Cast. I can also check hotel information and restaurant menus. The tea set is from Bali’s famous ceramics brand, Jenggala Ceramics. There’s also an outlet here. Nespresso machine with two types of capsules. Two bottles of mineral water. The free tea in the drawer is from the Indonesian brand SAVIS. All the snacks in the drawer are also complimentary. Even hand towels are provided in the lower left. The right drawer has glasses and cups & saucers. A French brand JVD electric kettle. There are two refrigerators; the empty one is free for my use. Soft drinks (non-alcoholic) are free. The chocolate bars in the back are also complimentary. Generous! Let’s check the bathroom. Double sinks carved from natural stone? Two bottles of mineral water are provided for the sink. A lighted magnifying mirror. There’s also a convenient stool. From toothbrushes to shavers and nail files—everything I need. In the opposite drawer, there’s a hairdryer. Brand unknown. A large bathtub. Even standard rooms at Andaz have a bathtub—that’s impressive. Bath bombs and loofah towels. A luxurious space with generous use of stone and tiles. I appreciate the stool in the shower booth. The water pressure and drainage in the shower are perfect. The rain shower from the high ceiling is slightly gentle. The shampoo and body products are from Sweden’s BYREDO, “ELEVENTH HOUR” series. They have a pleasant oriental fragrance. The closet is right at the entrance. It’s convenient for opening up my suitcase. The scale is here. There’s a large safe box, and an iron in the bottom drawer. The ironing board is hanging here. A bag for laundry and shoe shining requests, and easy-to-wear slippers. There’s a large mirror in the closet, so I can check my outfit perfectly. The toilet is in a separate room. Spacious and comfortable. The TOTO toilet has a washlet function! With only three rooms on this floor, it’s very quiet. And the balcony is spacious, about 20㎡. I love the pattern and colors of the cushions. If I still smoked, I’d probably stay here all the time. The privacy screens between balconies are stylish too. There’s even a hanger for swimsuits—everything’s thought of. View of the “Village Square” lawn in front of the restaurants. I didn’t feel any noise at all. Though events are sometimes held here, I haven’t experienced the crowd yet. I can faintly sense life around me, which makes me feel bright and peaceful. I think I’ll relax a bit before heading into town. Ah, it’s so calming. When the massage shop I wanted to visit was closed, I hesitated to return to the hotel and found this place. MADE’S BAR & RESTAURANT. A nice restaurant mainly serving Indonesian cuisine. My last Bintang beer of the Bali trip. Mie Goreng (Indonesian fried noodles) special. The sweet sauce and instant noodles are a perfect match. With beer, mie goreng, and bottled water, it costs RP 96,470 (about 870 yen, including tax). The place is deeper than it looks, so it’s okay for large groups. Nighttime at Andaz. I didn’t notice there was a Ganesha statue here. ANDAZ BALI opened in April 2021, right in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. The project’s design was handled by Tierra Design, based in Bangkok, Thailand, and Spin Design Studio from Tokyo, Japan. Tierra Design designed the building’s exterior and outdoor spaces in an integrated way. Spin Design Studio handled the interiors—guest rooms, lobby, restaurants, including furniture, lighting, and colors down to the finest details. Even though it doesn’t have a Japanese-style design, I feel a nostalgic, calming, and comfortable atmosphere. Perhaps it’s because the natural environment, local culture, materials, and spatial design are cleverly integrated into a cohesive whole. I enjoy an iced coffee in the lounge before returning to my room. After four days, I finally get a bath. I think I’ll sleep really well tonight. Good morning. It’s nice that the restaurant is right downstairs when I leave the room. Mediterranean restaurant, Blue Oven. Breakfast is all à la carte. I order after sitting down. Deli & Bakery, for deli, café, and desserts. Bread… I wonder if I can order it here too. I wonder if they’d even accommodate a request like, “Just cut a little piece.” They also have fresh coconut juice. Wok Wok. Fire Fox. It feels just like a market. I can sit anywhere I like. I start with a mango smoothie and cappuccino, then take my time choosing from the menu. The same menu is available at every restaurant. It’s like a dream that I can eat anything, in any amount! By scanning the QR code, I can see photos of all menu items. The images are beautiful and easy to understand. Oh, I can’t order from my phone, so I have to tell the staff directly. A plate of assorted fruits. It’s a good experience to try fruits I probably wouldn’t choose myself. French toast. Brioche bread with grilled pineapple and coconut ice cream—a tropical delight. I could easily eat three servings! AZB Muffin. English muffin sandwich with ham, cheese, and a fried egg. Chewy yet crisp. Villa Eggs Royal. Poached egg served on a croissant bun. So indulgent. Soufflé Pancakes. Fluffy soufflé pancakes. I thought I ate more, but I actually didn’t eat that much 💦 Depending on the number of guests, it might be cheaper to book without breakfast and add breakfast later (around 3,800 yen, variable), so it’s worth checking. Exploring the pool in the morning. This is the Santhi (Quiet) Pool. A pool for adults who want to spend time quietly. They don’t explicitly ban children, but families should use the beach-side pool. They ask guests not to reserve sunbeds with towels before 9:30 a.m. Is this considered a pool-view room area? This area is lovely too. The Alit (Kids) Pool is 60cm deep. The frog statue is cute. And the main pool, Liang (Main) Pool. “Liang” in Balinese means “happy” or “joyful.” I wonder if the ocean-view rooms are over there… that looks nice too. A perfect photo spot. The spa and gym are shared facilities with the neighboring Hyatt Regency. I can access them via the connecting walkway. Reception. A relaxing space for spa guests. Here’s the gym. A room key is required to use the gym. It’s open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. There were quite a few early-morning visitors. The spa has 10 treatment rooms, including rooms for couples. I heard the wellness area also has a jacuzzi and sauna. I’ve returned to Andaz. I really love the lounge atmosphere. I’d love to live in a house with a living room like this. Now, after a short break in my room, it’s time to check out. About 30 minutes from the airport. Opened in April 2021 in central Sanur, Andaz Bali combines a design concept that recreates the atmosphere of a traditional Balinese village with modern amenities and comfort. Inside the hotel, villas, guest rooms, restaurants, and pools are arranged as if walking through a small village. The layout creates a nice balance between relaxing spots and lively areas. Even standard rooms have spacious balconies, and the furniture and storage are stylish and practical. Having a bathtub and a washlet in every room is a big plus. There are plenty of dining options, and I can order from any restaurant’s menu at any table, offering a new kind of experience. Sanur Beach, cafes, and supermarkets are all within walking distance, so I can explore and experience Balinese daily life while strolling or shopping. Andaz Bali is a luxury hotel where I can enjoy both Balinese charm and modern comfort. I’ve added another hotel to my list of places I want to return to.
