中国退職後の生活ビデオブログ – 河南省、鄭州、上街を探索

We’re Jason and Lexie, early retirees who have opted for the simple life. We built ourselves a campervan, rented out our house and now live fulltime on the road, vlogging our days where we just do all the stuff we love…..bushwalking, mountain biking and generally exploring new places.

Taking a break from van life in Australia and headed to China to spend time with Lexie’s family. We are based in Henan Province, in a satellite city of Zhengzhou, called Shangjie.

This video is a compilation of several day trips we made over the last few weeks to areas around the major city of Zhengzhou and also to smaller rural areas outside Shangjie.

  1. as usual outstanding stuff – i have never been to China and things look amazingly well organised – in a chaotic way.. the electric car without front suspension.. no headlights.. but damn it works.

  2. I am enjoying seeing parts of China outside the major go too’s , would love to see the fair in action at night time too.

  3. Cave houses aren't great for clean audio 😀

Looks like you're having a great time! Have you looked into any MTB trails and bike hire around China?

  4. Thank you for the tour Jason. A real perspective of life in a Chinese town/province. Always appreciate your videos. Cheers and thanks. Sean.

  5. That car you hired could do with some air bags, in the cabin and maybe even as part of the suspension? Driver beware. Stay safe and enjoy yourselves. NSW is being hammered with rain again so dont hurry back. 🍻

  6. Great video. There are so many cool buildings in China! I loved the cave house too. The food looks amazing as well. Are you planning to stay in China long?

  7. Hi Mate
    Great video Ty
Yes there are days in China exploring with my wife & her family on random exploration are absolutely fascinating especially the many old original temples where you find them.

Also there are the occasional days where travel in the cities I could get very very frustrated to put it mildly .
Be great to have a chat with you 1 day & share some of the funniest experiences .
    Cheers Brett

  8. So good to have a peek into China….their way of life, cityscapes, small and huge shopping areas and green areas. That Yellow River was massive! Cave house interesting. Nice for Lexie to be able to include her mum, even if you have to do the shuffle. Food looks amazing. Thanks for the video.

  9. At least you wont get a copyright strike with that music Jason! lol Good to see parts of China you'd never see being a turo!! Cheers!!!

  10. Hi, Jason & Lexie. I just wondered, what kind of animals and birds you might find in the bush you had the drone fly over? 🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘

  11. Great video, Jason. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing what you've been up too. Loved the visit to cave house again and the artwork. Good variety of sights and sounds.
    Thanks for sharing.
The best as always to both you and Lexi.
    Cheers Helen

  12. It's pretty interesting to see what you're up to over there!

I think question wise, I'd be interested to know what your biggest culture shock was, and the opposite, what your biggest expectation that was flipped around and surprised you?

  13. Thanks for taking on the tours of China, it is always interesting to see how the locals live and work and not see the usual "tourist traps". It appears to be very hazy, is that pollution or from the heat of the summer sun ? cheers, Garry

  14. I've never played mah-jong (don't even know how to), but that mah-jong table is just next level. Not sure if that's very common for mah-jong, but it's the first time I've seen one. It' great to see insights of day to day life in provincial China. Thanks for sharing.

  15. Hi, Jason and Lexi, interesting to see more of China. There has been a lot of rain in NSW while you have been away. It has rained all day here in Melbourne today. You are both looking well, Lexi cooked the fish really well I'm sure you enjoyed it. The underground home was good much cooler in the heat. Finally got back out on my emtb after 4 months due to the motorbike accident which I had back in February after being ran into by a Ute. Hopefully will be able to go round Lyster field lake again soon. keep enjoying your China adventure, look forward to your next post. All the best Tim .

  16. Do you ever have any issues with the authorities as a foreigner with your filming? Especially with your drone, I’d think they’d take notice …

  17. Hi Jason and Lexie
Karen and I really look forward to seeing China from your point of view. Not as a tourist but as someone who lives there for some time. Don't worry about the structure of your vlog. They are done best when they just take us along with you. K&S

  18. Really enjoy these videos Jason. It’s fascinating to see what day to day life living in China is really like. Very different to how much of the Western media has traditionally portrayed it. Rising middle class and plenty of consumerism. Would be fascinated to learn more but what people do for a living and how much they’re paid on average. Also what’s the cost of property/apartments and how do they fund it eg mortgages? Anyway Keep well and keep posting!!

  19. That dude with the Chinese brush work is talented! Other people probably wont see it, but his caligraphy and poems and even brush painting is amazing!
