【三峡ダム】中国がひた隠しにする国家滅亡の可能性がある世界最大のダムの重大な欠陥と真実。
Gubei Province, China, has a population of approximately 4 million. This area is home to the world’s largest industrial dam, constructed as a national project by China, boasting the largest water volume and power generation capacity. Environmental dams are infrastructure that supports the lives and economic activity of hundreds of millions of Chinese citizens, directly impacting their lives through flood prevention, power supply, logistics, tourism, and other means. However, some people are concerned that the dam could collapse due to heavy rain, flooding, and typhoons caused by recent abnormal weather . The dam is also said to be the Chinese government’s greatest weakness, and if it were to collapse, the damage could be devastating, even to the collapse of the nation itself. This time, we visited Jishoushi, the industrial dam with the world’s largest water volume and power generation capacity, and its true nature . Please stay tuned. [Music] This time, we departed from Osaka, via Shanghai, and headed to Ii-chan, a place called Ii-shoushi (pronounced “Yishoushi” in Japanese). Yishoushi is our destination. It’s a town rarely visited by Japanese people. This time, we made a blissful connection on China Eastern Airlines and headed to our destination. [Music] We arrived at Shanghai Dongda Airport, where the seatbelt sign advised us to fasten our seats immediately . I’m transferring to a domestic flight now. The arrivals at I-chan Station have begun, so I’ll board. [Music] [Music] So, the arrivals have begun. It ‘s about a two-hour flight from Shanghai to I-chan. [Music] So, I’ve arrived. The three major dams are already tourist attractions at the airport. I collected my luggage and came out. This is the arrival lobby. I’ve been traveling since this morning and finally arrived. I’m connecting in Shanghai, and it’s already 8:45 PM. Since I only have one day tomorrow, I’ll head straight to the hotel and rest for tomorrow. Okay. So, I’m off to the hotel now. It’s about 20km from the airport to the city, so it’ll be about a 40-minute taxi ride from there. Okay, let’s go to the hotel. The airport isn’t that big , but there are convenience stores and Lawsons. I’ll be back at the airport later , so I’ll take a look around then. For now , I’ll just hurry up and get to the hotel. I called Didi and we’ll be picking up in the parking lot over here at the airport . It’s pretty nice. Actually, it’s really hot. It’s about 30°C, like the tropical temperatures in Japan. The humidity is high, too. Yes. I met my driver. Now that I’m in the car, all I have to do is head to the hotel. Since the car wasn’t fully operational , I finally arrived at the hotel. It’s a Crowne Plaza. I’m going to check in now. So, I’ve completed check-in. The wind’s pretty slow now. [Music] It’s about 10 o’clock now, but they upgraded me somehow . I’m a Platinum member. Until last year, I was a Diamond, but I upgraded to a suite, so I guess I can use the lounge , and I’m on the executive floor. Lucky me. Yes. Well, I’m barely at the hotel, but let’s head to my room. It feels a bit big for a Crowne Plaza. This time it’s a corner room. This is it. 1601. Oh, so this is the type. Oh, here we are. So I entered the room. I’ll just give you a quick room introduction, as I always do. It’s a suite. It’s really spacious. It ‘s kind of like a room. Oh, there’s some fruit here too . Wonderful. It costs about 10,000 yen per night. And this bedroom is spacious too. And then there’s the bathroom, the shower sink, and I think this is the toilet? I see. Yes. Sorry. This is a rough explanation. I ‘m only here to sleep tonight, and I’ll be gone all day tomorrow, so it’s only at times like these that I get a suite. Well , it’s cheap, and, um, Platinum, um, not a very high level of status , um, and yet, um, I’m grateful that I can get all this. It also includes breakfast and I’ll use the lounge. Yes. I’m grateful. This is a bit of a rough explanation . Sorry. This is the room introduction. [Applause] So, I’ve finally taken a shower and settled into my room. My main purpose for coming here this time was to see the three major dams, so I made the effort to come, and I ‘m sure some people know about it because it’s been reported in the Japanese media . I don’t think many people have actually been there, but it ‘s home to China’s largest dam and hydroelectric power plant, and it’s been proven throughout history that civilizations have been born and economies have developed along large rivers, and in China, the Changhuang River is the main river along which various economies and civilizations have developed, so they built a huge dam. However, there are various blood vessels, and the cough suppressant, and the dam facilities, the walls, the walls are warped and all sorts of things, and China is hiding this fact. Actually, it’s not hidden, it’s open to the public. Now, foreigners are allowed to visit, so I’d like to see it , and I’m going to go tomorrow. I may have mentioned this at the beginning, but I’m not sure. I don’t remember where I read it , but if China were to attack Taiwan, Taiwan could fire a missile at the Sanjing Dam. That would cause the dam to collapse, causing great damage. It’s China’s. It’s said that if these three major dams were to reach their limits and collapse , the losses would be so great that the country itself would be destroyed . Calculations have been made that the water level could rise to about three times the capacity of the river, and as I said earlier, the riverside has a developed economy, so it’s said that the towns along the river could be wiped out, causing considerable damage . I think this is going to be quite a tough situation for China. If that were to happen, it might be putting a lot of pressure on them. It’s like, this is what will happen if they attack Taiwan. I do think there’s a question of whether the missiles will actually reach the area. Of course, the US probably has a grasp on all of this Chinese behavior, and they’ve used satellites to calculate the distortion of the dam and have determined how many blood vessels there are. Yeah. Well, it’s actually become a tourist spot now, so I wonder if it’s safe to go, but I think it’s probably fine. I don’t think there are many people who would go out of their way to make a video about going to Sankyo Dam just for this, so it might be a bit niche, but I thought maybe you’ve heard about it on the news, so I ‘ve been saving up this story. Yes. I’d been thinking about going to Sankyo Dam for a while, and so I came this time. Well, I traveled from Osaka today, but it took me a whole day, so it’s already 8pm, about 3am now . I only have one day tomorrow, so I ‘ll go to bed early so I can be active first thing tomorrow morning. I have to look around Sankyo all day , so I’ll go to bed a little early today. Good night. Okay. Good morning. It’s the next morning. The view from the hotel looks like this. The river flowing in front of me is already long-distance. And, below, you can see this place like a tourist center, and you can see that boat. This boat takes you close to the dam, and while enjoying the cruise, you can enjoy sightseeing with a variety of options, but the tourist buses are also parked very far down. However, in my case, I just wanted to go to the dam, so I didn’t want to go to another one. 帰りました。 English: I thought this option would be good, so… Yes. Um, I’m going to have breakfast at the hotel now , and then, um, I’d like to drive directly to the dam. Well , of course you can get there by bus, but the dam is probably the only tourist attraction in this area . Yes. That’s the kind of place it is. It’s amazing, isn’t it? Container lines like this run along the river . Even 10,000-ton ships can go upstream on this river and support logistics. The breakfast area is on the first floor. Okay, let’s have a quick meal and then we’ll get going. We entered the breakfast area. Well, it’s like this. Well, it’s basically just Chinese food , like the hotel breakfasts I’ve introduced to you so many times before . I was given something like tomato egg noodles. The rest were just side dishes like this. Yes. Well, let’s have a quick meal and then we’ll get going. So, all preparations are complete . I’ve had breakfast, and it’s still around 8 a.m., but I thought I’d check out a few things before it gets too hot. So, I ‘m going to head directly from this hotel to the dam using the dentist app D. So , I called the gear app. Shanqiang Dam is about 30km away. A taxi would cost about 100 yen. Right next to the Crowne Plaza where I’m staying is Wonder Plaza , a shopping mall found all over China. It’s a really luxurious place. The driver suddenly got out and ran off somewhere. That’s a typical Chinese thing. Up ahead, I think there’s a toll booth for something , but I’m not sure what it is . Well, I’ll leave it to him. Apparently, there’s a private road, probably a highway, leading to the dam . There was a police checkpoint to get in . Why did it take so long? Maybe they have strict security . So, it took about 50 minutes from the hotel to arrive. This is the entrance to the tourist center of the Three Great Dams. It’s 5A, after all. Admission is free, but I think it’s a good idea to have a ticket to ride the shuttle-like thing that takes you around the inside , so I’m going to buy one at the ticket center now. You can buy tickets online in advance with VAT Pay, but for some reason, it doesn’t work . Since it didn’t work, I’ll buy it in person. It’s not that crowded. [Music] There are a lot of big groups here. I think it would be easier to get around more if you came on a tour, though. I’ll buy my ticket here. The ticket to enter all the facilities costs 70 yuan . I was told that it would be a good idea, so I bought it. Anyway, I bought my ticket. So, like I said, I paid 70, but it went in this order of 34, and, uh, is this the last one? Apparently you can see things like this too. I think the water is only available for a limited time, so you probably won’t be able to see it all the time, but I did as I was told and bought it. Yes. Oh, that’s pretty kind. And, you can pay with your passport, cash, VAT , Aripay, or credit card. Um, there’s no charge for admission. I wonder if there’s a fee to use this facility and the shuttle that runs through it? Sorry. I thought it was 35 yuan . It came to an additional 70 yuan. It’s still cheap. I guess you just follow the flow of people and see things in order. Oh, I don’t think you need to think about it too hard. So, this is the entrance. It’s amazing, even though it’s a weekday. Wow, it’s moving. It’s crowded. Okay. Well, let’s go inside now. The inside of this incredible facility is so beautiful. I still don’t feel like I’ve really arrived at the dam. Well, I’m sure there are some dam enthusiasts in Japan, but this was my first time, maybe the first time I’d ever come to a dam for sightseeing. So I was taking that bus. China doesn’t really require much walking, does it? It’s so big, so it’s easy to get around by vehicle. I guess this is the entrance. Right. I show my ticket here, and then I get on the bus I mentioned earlier. Now I’ll show my ticket, go through security, and then I’ll get on the bus. It’s so carefree. Why are they all in such a hurry? They’re all in a rush. It’s a pretty decent bus. It doesn’t look shabby. The bus just filled up in front of me, so I’ll take the next one. [ Music] Okay, I’ll get on then. That’s fine. I think it’s probably in this order . [Music] Can you see it? I’m heading to that 196 whatever place now . The air conditioning is blasting hard inside the bus, so it’s super cool. It’s so easy. I’m sure you could walk, but the bus is definitely better. I decided to use this. Everyone uses this and that. I’m sure no one is walking around. [Music] There are so many police checkpoints. I’m just passing through, but it’s an important national facility after all. On the way here, it took quite a while to get there, right in front of the highway. There was a checkpoint. It’s a little different from other tourist destinations. It has a sense of security, like the mountain border I visited before. Oh, we’re already near the dam. Wow, amazing, amazing, amazing. This is the dam’s facilities. [Music] It’s the number one in the world, after all. Oh, what an incredible ship. Wow, amazing. Amazing. I only got a quick shot. This, this, this, this, this is amazing. They raise this water and cross over to the other side. Wow, I still don’t quite get the gist of it, but I managed to get a quick shot. This is still just a part of the book. [Music] They’re climbing up the mountain quite a bit. So, that ship we saw earlier was going over the mountain through a canal-like channel, and it was raising the water up little by little. [Music] [Music] It’s still there, but it ‘s still important as a transportation route, and it’s also important for storing water for daily use and for generating electricity. It’s the largest in the world. That’s what makes it a little dangerous. We’re pretty high up the mountain now. [Music] First, I think you go to see a little facility up there , I don’t know the name. Wow, it’s amazing. Oh, it’s all escalators. Let’s go. It would be dangerous if it were stairs . It’s all escalators, it’s amazing. It’s amazing. It’s insanely large. It’s definitely worth coming. Well, it’s the world’s largest dam, built by China. And it’s been turned into a tourist attraction, so it’s all escalators. It’s all escalators, all the way to the top. I came all the way up to see it. I love it that much. I’m pretty sure there was a monument-like thing up here, where you could get a great view of the dam . I think that was probably the first highlight. But it was really hot outside. You’d get heatstroke. I wish I’d brought a parasol or something. Well, I think the best highlight is this. This is it. I think it’s the largest dam in the world. And the wall here is warped. They say that if Taiwan tries to attack Taiwan, they’ll fire missiles at this gate. It’s still a little far. They should be able to get closer. Yes. They’re amazing people. Everyone’s so noisy. Their voices are so loud. I feel like the dam was so full at one point that it was dangerous, but I think the water level is probably low now. I think the probability of it collapsing is quite low. I saw something on the news about the concrete walls that couldn’t withstand the waves, and they said it was fine, but when you look at it from a satellite, it’s warped, and I think that’s what the US announced. I was wrong, but I think the story was that information leaked saying that the Three Powerful Dams were in danger. I might be wrong. The Three Powerful Dams, located in China’s midstream, are some of the largest hydroelectric dams in the world, and there has been growing debate in recent years about their structural safety and military risks. In 2020, a Chinese-born scholar living in Germany claimed that the design, construction, and quality inspection of the Industrial Dam were all carried out by the same group in a short period of time, and that cracks and substandard concrete were discovered during construction. Furthermore, a major flood occurred in the summer of that year , causing slight deformation and distortion in the dam. These structural concerns and the effects of the flood have led to concerns that the dam could collapse at any time . Some have warned that a failure of the dam could submerge the Liuzhangzi River in the Changhuang River, putting hundreds of millions of people in dire straits . While some experts have pointed out flaws in the design and construction, the Chinese government has officially stated that the Industrial Dam is structurally sound and safe . It’s incredibly crowded. So many people come to see dams like this. Wherever you go in China, there are always crowds. Let’s go to the next spot. This is what it is, the first stone of the Yama Dam? I’m not sure, but everyone is taking photos here. Well, I guess it’s an important attraction. Sorry. That’s just a random comment. Well, we’ve arrived. There are so many people here. There’s a fountain, and I wonder if that’s an observation deck? But I’m not that excited here. Sorry. First off, I bought a hot, cold drink. It was like plum juice. Is it plum? It’s delicious. Is it the Hong Kong kind? Yes. It ‘s 10 yuan. 200 yen. It’s super cheap, even for a tourist spot. It’s 600ml. This is where they have a model of the mountain dam on display. Let’s take a look. There were so many people, we couldn’t see the dam model. Is it really that popular? This is it. Well, it looks like you can see the model like this. They also have a lot of souvenirs for sale. They also have a lot of panda merchandise, even though it’s unrelated. There seem to be a lot of people from the [Music] [Music] group. Next, I think we’ll walk a little further to the facility next door. Well, I’ll just go with the flow. It was the same when I was a student, but summer is crazy. I’m sweating profusely. The humidity is so high. I wonder what it is. I don’t really know. I’ll go in for now. [Music] [Music] This is where the documents are lit up. Oh, it’s cool with the air conditioning. Oh, it’s a passageway. So, you pass through this way, go inside once, then go outside again. They sell souvenirs and such. I think I’m finally getting close to the dam, to the facilities. It’s so crowded. It’s amazing. It’s so vast. I didn’t know you could get so close. Up ahead, I’m sure I can see that floodgate-like thing I saw briefly on the bus earlier. Industrial dams are so important and vulnerable that they’re said to be China’s Achilles’ right economically and militarily. Taiwan is positioning them as a deterrent and counterattack tool, given their strategic value and vulnerability, and they are a target of strategic interest for the country. While the Taiwanese government has not officially stated that it would launch a retaliatory attack on the Shanqiang Dam if China were to advance militarily against Taiwan , some military experts have long discussed the possibility of targeting China’s population centers and industrial dams. Taiwan has already developed long-range missiles, such as the Unfa missile, which can reach Beijing, and past administrations have conducted missile tests with ranges exceeding 1,000 km. The distance between the Shanqiang Dam and Taiwan is approximately 1,200 km, well within reach of a crude oil cruise missile. While the Taiwanese government does not intend to launch a preemptive attack, some media outlets have reported that it is developing a strategy based on the deterrent capability of attacking strategic bases like Beijing and the Shanqiang Dam if China advances toward Taiwan . Targeting environmental dams would be a way for Taiwan, which does not possess nuclear missiles, to inflict significant damage on China. However, this is a controversial topic within Taiwan and there are differing views around the world, so careful discussions are being conducted while taking international rules and laws into consideration . It’s amazing. You can see the floodgates from so close. It’s huge. This is a boat route, after all. You can’t see it right now, though. So, we go through that dam over there and head further into town. Wow, this is amazing. It was even more impressive than I thought. It’s huge. It made me think I’d like to go to Kurobe Dam when I get back to Japan. I’m starting to get interested in dams now. After this, I’ll go downstairs, and then I’ll take a bus from there to go further in, um, I think. Well, the time to look around goes by so quickly, but I wonder if there are any dams like this that have been turned into tourist attractions? Kurobe Dam is the only one I can imagine. They’re going to swindle a lot of money out of you, right? Tourists. Well, admission is free, after all. So, there are a lot of souvenirs around here, and what’s going on? It’s lively. [Music] Shall we take a look? [Music] They’re doing some amazing things like serving food. Oh, thank you. [Applause] It’s a snack that tastes like kinako sticks made from peanuts and kinako flour. I just got a sample, and this is a specialty. So, here [applause], the guys are making them. There’s a huge line for each one . It’s pretty crowded. I learned about this as a student last time. Self-service fans. I’d die without one. I went to the trouble of waiting in line, but these carts are separate, and I didn’t have a ticket, so I had to buy one. It seemed like anyone without one could just walk around, so I decided to walk. You can take the bus, though. Ah, but if you walk, you get a great view. Amazing. A place with a panoramic view from here on out. This is a photoshoot that feels very Chinese. Oh, this is amazing. Oh, it’s amazing. It’s huge. Anyway, we’re approaching the floodgate, the one I wanted to see the most. It’s said that when the water distorted and couldn’t withstand the pressure, the women’s prison collapsed. There’s not much water right now, so I think it’s okay. I wanted to come here. I’m right in front of this sluice gate. It’s bigger than a statue. It’s incredibly straight, with a concrete wall stretching all the way to the other side. The video you just saw is of this famous sluice gate. Surprisingly, the city is on this side of the dam. Well, it’s not really a dam , it’s more like a river being held back here. Oh, how do I say “complete”? Maybe it’s a little different from the dam Japanese people imagine. If the industrial dam were to overflow, the damage would be a major disaster that would affect not only China but the world. Overflowing industrial dams could result in up to one million deaths. The dam’s flow spans a vast plain that spans the midstream and upper reaches of the river, spanning the provinces of Gubei, Gunan, Zhejiang, Zhejiang, and Zhejiang, which are all directly under the jurisdiction of the dam. These areas are home to some of China’s most densely populated and economically important cities. If a major disaster like the collapse of an industrial dam were to occur, it’s estimated that approximately 400 million people, or nearly 30% of China’s population, would be affected. Large-scale power outages are also expected to occur in the affected areas, and recovery is expected to take a considerable amount of time. Looking at the water level, you can see that it ‘s not that full. There’s still room. Apparently , it’s distorted. You can’t see it with the naked eye, but apparently, it’s dangerous when it’s full. They might be reclaiming it, though. [Music] This is what I wanted to see. This is this place, this 185 whatever. Ah, this place with the most beautiful view. It was the place I wanted to visit the most, so I’ve pretty much accomplished my goal, but I still have a little time, so let’s take a look around. This is hell. I can’t move. The bus is taking so long to come, so I’ve been waiting. It’s still a long way off. This bus stop is so tough. It’s so crowded, it’s a bit difficult. Even in such a narrow space, everyone is using umbrellas, so it’s dangerous. It’s China, as you’d expect. And it’s super hot. I was planning to go to the third place after this one , but this is amazing. [Music] So I waited in line for about an hour and finally made it inside the bus stop. An hour. I felt like I was going to get heatstroke. Finally, I got on the bus. It was really tough. [Music] I waited in line for an hour and a half. It was really scary. I almost fell over. The trees outside are about 40° right now. I wonder if they’ll show up? They just said 38° here. I’m a little out of energy. There’s been a line like this. I want to take a quick look at the next place and then go home. I got to see the floodgates, and it was crazy. The worst I’ve been all year. The crowds were so high. [Music] [Music] Oh, we’re at the bridge now. We’re crossing this bridge over the dam. Oh, we’re running parallel to the bus so you might not be able to see us. We’re crossing the bridge now. It’s amazing. It was in the back there just now. It feels like we’ve just come this time. Yes. I think this is that bus or that one. I wonder if it’s a place where only authorized vehicles can go . It’s amazing. Security is tight, after all. So we’ve come to the next place. Oh, this is the Yama Dam Museum. And there’s something like a museum in the back. Shall we take a look at the museum together? We’ve come all this way and it’s a hassle, so we’ll pass on the museum. Um, I think that’s some kind of museum in the back. A memorial park-like place. I think that would be better, so we’ll go that way. It’s so hot. I can’t, I can’t, I can’t, I can’t. Let’s finally go into this memorial park. Damn. I’m not as energetic as I thought I would be. I’m not sure what’s inside, but they have exhibits on the history of the dam’s construction and other related items, so I’ll take a look. There’s a really big bulldozer and stuff. It’s huge. It’s amazing. This is right here, where you can see the view right in front of the floodgate. It’s so crowded. I was looking from that side earlier, but now I’m on the other side. This side where the water comes out is fine. You can get a little closer if you go further in, but everyone’s lining up for that. I think that’s enough. I’ve seen enough here. This is bad. I’m at my limit with the heat. I didn’t think it would be this hard. Anyway, I want to go back to the first visitor center, where I bought my ticket. So, right now, it’s hot, so I’m taking a break, and on the way back to the hotel, there’s one more place, um, it’s not related to the dam, but I think it’s pronounced Yamabito? It says Yama Dam, Yama to Hito no Ie, and I think, how do you say it? It’s like a place I used to go to a long time ago, like, you know, Kyoto, where the old town remains. It’s also, you know, 5A. It’s rated by China’s tourist destinations, so I thought I might take a taxi there and have a look around before heading back to the hotel. Well, this area is also, 3A, well, famous for its dam, but there’s another 5, 5A. Okay. Let’s go there for a bit. There’s a huge crowd to get on the bus again. I wonder if I’ll have to wait for an hour? Would it be quicker to walk? It’s going to be hell to go back. I thought the dam was built, but this time it was unexpected. Even on a weekday, there were naked old men. Amazing. The human smell was really strong. So, I waited 40 or 50 minutes for the bus here, too. It was pretty tough. Anyway, I got on this and headed to the tourist, oh no, visitor center. I’ll go back there and then go to the place I went to earlier. There seem to be very few buses, especially compared to the people. Or maybe there are an unusually large number of people here today. Finally, I arrived at the exit of Sanqiao Dam. I just called Di, so, uh, over there, uh, is it okay to go to Mitsuhashi’s house? Yes. I’ll head that way. It’s already 1:00, about 13 minutes. Anyway, I’ll just take a quick look around there and then head back to the hotel. It’s about 30 yuan from Sanqiao Dam to the next place . It’s cheap. It was about 20km. Yes. It looks like it’ll take about 30 minutes. I think this is the ticket booth. It costs money to go inside, right? I’m sure. It’s a townscape like this. Wait, I might not be able to see everything. So, I just bought a ticket, but it’s insanely expensive. I didn’t realize it would be that expensive. I thought I’d just walk around for a bit, but it cost 216 yuan. It costs that much. It costs over 4,000 just to enter the city. That surprised me. It’s a 5A ticket. Seriously? I wasn’t planning on seeing so much . Oh well, I bought it anyway. Looks like we’re going from here. Sorry. I misunderstood. Oh, we’re going to take the bus again and go all the way to the back. I don’t have much time. I thought we’d just casually look around. That’s expensive. I did n’t know. It’s empty on the street. This is actually a place you have to visit all day. I’m sure there’s a checkpoint soon. [Music] We’ll take the bus from here. Well, since we’ve come all this way, let’s go as far as we can by bus. I don’t really have much energy left. Um, I just want to see the old townscape. Waterfalls and stuff are kind of irrelevant, but yeah, I didn’t know that. I did n’t do any research, I just thought I’d drop in since it was close. But it seems like it’s definitely worth it. It’s 216 yuan. It’s pretty expensive, isn’t it? It’s a lot more expensive than the dam we were at before. The dam was 70 yuan. I’m the only one on the bus. This time , we have the whole place to ourselves. We’re passing through the amazing Danwai Cliffs. I just got off the bus, and, oh, it’s kind of closing up, or something. They told me to get on a boat here. W-w-w-what? I don’t get it. It’s moving forward. Is it a boat? Oh, but here it is. It says “environment.” [Music] Okay, I’m in. I have no idea what the system is. I wonder if this will take me to the town, to that old shopping street. But I thought they said something about taking a boat. Is everything on this ticket stand? [Music] Looks like I’m taking a boat after all. Right. That’s definitely it. So I’m getting on now. Well, I mean, I’m going, but I’m starting to understand. I was up there a while ago, but then I took a bus to this place and arrived at the dock. They told me to get on. So, I’m getting on this boat now. On the other side, there’s this place that looks like Jiujie. Oh, I should get on this one. I’m at the very back of the boat now, and the view is amazing. It feels Chinese. I’m quite moved. I’m waiting to depart now , and it seems like a pretty big tourist spot. I wasn’t planning on experiencing this fishing weather from a boat this time, so I’m glad I got to experience it in a nice, natural way. So the boat started moving. A lot of groups got on towards the end, and it got quite crowded. I just got off, and it looks like it could be somewhere around that cliff. Like this old town. Let’s go. We’ll get there soon. It ‘s starting to look a bit more atmospheric. [Music] You can probably go deep into the mountains with a rope, right? So, if you go to the right, well, it’s towards the town, or should I say, let’s go a little closer to the town. Come to think of it, I haven’t eaten anything since breakfast at the hotel this morning, so I’m pretty hungry, but I don’t have much time. It seems like it. Ah, the city is getting a bit boring. So, I guess it’s the entrance gate. So you need a ticket to enter that area after all. It seems unnecessary. Everywhere we went, the tour group was walking slowly . So, if you don’t overtake them, they spread out like this. It’s so hard to overtake them. They’re so stubborn. I think this is what Chinese people hate in Japan. It’s so hard to walk here. So hot. Oh, it’s nice. This view. This feels nice. Everyone’s so loud. Somehow, everyone’s so loud in this area. I guess I made a mistake. In the end, it seems like you have to pay and go up to get to that area . That’s probably why the ticket is so expensive. Yeah. I guess it probably includes the number of people allowed in at the top . I should have just climbed the rope earlier . What a waste of time. There’s probably nothing to see if I walk here. Apparently I ‘ll end up taking the escalator up the mountain. This is an escalator, right? I’m climbing the stairs, but, you know, it’s really hot. It’s really unbearably hot. I’m seriously considering giving up now. For now, I’ll take the escalator from here. I’ll go up to the top and look at the view, and then I’ll think about it for a bit. I guess I’ll just run away from the old town area. How do I get there? It’s no good coming here on a whim. I came here without doing any research. It’s amazing, it’s all escalators all the way to the top of the mountain. That would be unthinkable in Japan. So, in the end, it’s the stairs from here. Oh, it looks like it. Let’s go anyway. The atmosphere kind of reminds me of the top of Bali. This is it. What I wanted to see. This wooden old town-like area. Looks like an old town. This is what I wanted to see. Oh, good, good. Oh, this is what I wanted to see. Oh, good, good. I happened to be able to eat, and came across a place that looked like it. Ha. It’s nice. That’s right, that’s right. This is it. Isn’t it good? Oh, it’s very tasteful. Yes. Ah, I’m glad I came. It’s not like, um, the other waterfalls and cliffs are nice. This is what I wanted to see. It looks kind of Chinese. Wonderful. It’s good. It’s good. It feels good. It’s so hot, I can’t handle it. I’ll buy some ice cream. From the convenience store here. So I got the Chinese version. Yes. This is pretty expensive. It was like 17 yuan. Is that a rip-off? Oh well. I bought it. Look at my sweat. It’s so hot. I’m so exhausted, I can’t even find the words to describe it. I am. [Music] This is bad. The southern and central parts of China are a no-go at this time of year. I thought the other day too, but it’s so hot for students. So, I’m having an ice cream break now, and I’m exhausted. Yes. If you’re familiar with this place, you should look further, but that’s enough. I can’t handle it anymore, so I’m going back down the mountain. Yeah. Well, I had fun. I was underestimating it. This was a full-day course, too. Definitely. I’m sure there are plenty more places to see, but please forgive me for this. I’m going home. Just now, I took the escalator one way, but on the way back. These are stairs, right? Can’t be helped. Let’s go. It’s pretty high up here. This is tough. The whole way down the mountain was stairs. This is tough. [Music] I’m sure everyone knows how weak fat people’s knees are, but my knees are screaming . This is tough. It’s not so bad at all, but it’s not the climb . No, but the descent is tough too. This is crazy. Why did I come here? It was just a thought. It reminds me of how hard it was to go see the volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii. It’s that steep. Well, the stairs are pretty , but the view is amazing. It’s definitely worth seeing, you don’t really find anything like this anywhere. Only in China. It’s so cool here, I wondered why, and apparently it’s natural. It’s the cold water coming out of a natural cave. Oh, the air is cold. Let’s turn around here. Hold on a second. It was as cold as an air conditioner. [Applause] It’s amazing. Wow, it’s super cool. Isn’t it amazing? This cave. Well, this area is probably a little artificial, but it’s incredibly cool. It’s like a natural air conditioner, making it feel as cool as turning the air conditioner on max . It’s a really cool street, and there are a bunch of Chinese people gathered at the entrance, so it’s really cool. I don’t know how to pronounce the official name, but the really cool cave I just found is called “Cat Something.” This must be a famous place, too. Oh no, there are still stairs. Oh, it’s tough. Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no. I’ve now finished descending the mountain, and this is the last souvenir shop around here. Um, there are a lot of shops around there, but I’m going in the opposite direction. Um, I’m taking a boat, so I want to go all the way back down. This view is amazing. I think it’s really worth it. It’s so beautiful. It reminds me of the overtime party. Finally, I’m back. So, I’ll take the boat back to the original place, then the bus, and then the Lidi back to the hotel. It really took a whole day. But it’s a great memory. I’m glad I came. The boat on the way back was packed and I couldn’t get a seat. The bus ride looks crazy, too. I guess I’m back in town. I want to hurry to the bus stop. Okay. Well, we’ve arrived. Everyone will probably be rushing to get on the bus at the same time, so I’ll try to get to the front if possible. Okay, let’s go. Are there a lot of buses? I should be able to get on. Without having to wait in line. I managed to get on the bus. I think it’s not going to the same place as before, but rather to a nearby station, which is fine. The station is probably better than climbing up that mountain over there. It seems like it would be faster to take a taxi home. Maybe, maybe not, but I managed to get on the first bus, so it looks like I’ll be able to get home smoothly. [Music] Seriously, I’m exhausted this time. But I feel a great sense of accomplishment. It’s a place where almost no Japanese people come. Hey, it’s the same place as before. I must have been mistaken. Oh well. I’m back where I bought the ticket at first. I thought I was going to the station, but I was wrong. [Music] So I just called D-Day, so I’ll be heading straight to the hotel. So [music] D was caught quickly. Thank goodness. We can go home. [music] So, we made it back to the hotel safely. Oh, and since I haven’t had lunch yet, I’ll stop by the shopping mall next to here called Wonder Plaza for dinner. I’ve been there many times before, all over China. Let’s grab something to eat there. I’ll call it a day. I wonder where we’re going today, big or small? I think it’s something like Aeon. I’m sure a lot of people don’t even know about Yishaoushi . There’s no reason for Japanese people to come here. But the city center seems pretty thriving . I’m super hungry. There’s a Uniqlo, as usual. It’s everywhere . There are tons of shops. Places to eat . I’m not sure what this area is famous for, but I think it’s probably spicy food. Maybe? Wuhan and what else ? Well, it’s in the middle, after all. I think I’ll try some Chinese farmed food, which I’ve been interested in for a while . Yes. Well, Chinese food is available everywhere , but skewers like this, and things like borsi, are cheap. The soup is only 19 yuan, so I’ll give it a try. I’d like to have a steak here. So I went in. I’ve always wondered what those original farmed restaurants in China are like. Well, there are pizza places and things like that that are fresh, but there aren’t that many. So, while there are places like Saizeriya in Taiwan, I thought they weren’t in China, so I wanted to give it a try. Whether it’s delicious or not is another matter, and the customer service is excellent. I ordered everything here, and it was quick delivery, but it looked delicious. It’s cheap, and they seem to put a lot of effort into it. The desserts are also really good. So, what I ordered was, uh, a drink, uh, some kind of black pine mushroom soup, and, uh, a steak called “kaitei” (a kind of steak that’s probably like a sperm-produced meat hamburger), uh, all of that . And it’s still pretty cheap, even with dessert. Yes. The food around here looks pretty good too. I’ll try one last experiment to see what it’s like, and then I’ll go for it. Then the soup came. It looks really good. The quality is pretty high. It only cost less than 200 yen on my pay. That’s fine, isn’t it? Sorry. Um, this has nothing to do with Chinese food, but… Let’s eat. It’s pretty good. Yeah. The quality is pretty high. It’s not truffle, but I don’t know. It’s a delicious mushroom soup with a really strong, concentrated mushroom flavor. It’s like the steak set I ordered. It was only 65 yuan, so it’s really cheap. It has a Saizeriya, or maybe a family restaurant, feel to it. Looks good. It comes with a fried egg and steak, as usual. There’s a lot of it. Amazing. Let’s eat. The pork is really pork. I thought it was beef. The taste is really good. But it has a unique, plastic-like texture. Oh, but it’s totally delicious. It was cheap because it was pork. That’s what it was. I thought it would look like a hamburger steak from the picture, but it was a little different. [Music] [Music] The amount of pasta on the side was about the same as a single serving in Japan. Oh, [Music] This is really spicy pasta. It’s like plain pasta. This is tasty in its own way. Yeah. Overall, it’s okay. [Music] It’s just delicious. This is a drink. [Music] It’s coffee mixed with orange juice. It has a strange taste, though. I’m not sure why I ordered this. I remember it being really cheap. This [Music] It was the 9th period, right? Well, it’s tasty. It’s not too bad to drink. It’s a bit questionable. I guess I messed up. I got carried away and ordered dessert at the end. It’s milk shaved ice, or rather, milk ice. The kind you often find in Taiwan . This is 22 yuan cheaper. [Applause] [Music] Delicious Yes, this restaurant is great. The name of the restaurant is Hanakiyama, which sounds Japanese, but it’s delicious. Anyway, I made it back to the hotel safely. Today was a really tough day. It’s been a while since I’ve been so exhausted. Filming this took me almost a whole day, spent almost the entire day outside, and the temperature was about 40 degrees, so I was almost at my wit’s end , but I think there are probably only a few Japanese YouTubers who make videos on the theme of dams, and not many who actually go to the sites to film them, so I think it was pretty rare. I’m sure there are probably a lot of people who don’t know about the Three Strongest Dams, and even those who do know about them are probably like, “Oh, so this is the real Three Strongest Dam,” but it was bigger than I expected, and I thought it was definitely worth going. Yeah. I think I told you this was a project I’d been working on for a while, but, um, I never thought I’d actually go. Well, when you actually go there and see it with your own eyes, it’s amazing. It’s a dam built by the Chinese government with a unique approach. And then there were all these problems that came up later , like it wasn’t strong enough, which is very Chinese. And then, in response, the Taiwanese government threatened to retaliate by firing missiles at the dam and flooding it if China were to attack Taiwan. That’s what they said, but in reality, I think China is probably busy repairing it. It seems to meet the standards now. And, well, the water wasn’t all that full, so it looked like a normal dam. It was huge, but it looked like a normal dam. I hope everyone knows that these kinds of stories exist . And, this was really unexpected for me, but it was on a weekday. Even though it was a weekday , it was incredibly crowded, I think there were probably more domestic Chinese tourists than domestic Chinese tourists . Yeah. I thought it would be less crowded. Even getting on the bus, it was so hot, and it seemed like people had collapsed from heat stroke, and it was so intense that I thought I was going to die. I seriously considered giving up a few times, and ended up standing outside for about 90 minutes at the most. Yeah. I was waiting for the bus too. Yeah. It’s been a while since I’ve seen so many people. The last time I was there as a student, when we were filming, it was so hot and I thought it was terrible. I’ve said this many times. It was even harder than that . Right now, it’s the hardest thing I’ve done this year. Yeah. I didn’t realize it would be so crowded, both physically and mentally . I’m sure there are Japanese viewers, but I also hope that dam fetishists and dam enthusiasts alike will enjoy watching this video . I’m sure this dam is of interest to dam enthusiasts around the world, and while I’m not sure how much demand there is, I wanted to touch upon the truth about dams in China, which are so secretive, so that ‘s why I came here. It’s hard to ask everyone to come, but this is a unique video that I made with a little bit of my heart and soul , so if you enjoy it, please like this video, subscribe to my channel, and leave your thoughts in the comments. The China series contains a lot of content that’s quite nerdy, but it’s surprisingly well-received, so I’d like to come up with something more interesting. This time, I ‘d like to conclude this video about visiting the three largest dams. Thank you for watching . [Music] [Music]
