This video introduces the best restaurants in the Yokohama Minato Mirai area, ranked by my own personal ranking. The ranking order and impressions are my own personal opinions. If you know of any other great restaurants besides those featured in the video, please let me know in the comments. All menu prices include tax. Please subscribe and like our channel. Let’s start with the restaurant ranked #10 on the ranking. It has a 4.0 rating on Google . The premium curry set at the MARK IS Minato Mirai branch of Indian Restaurant Mumbai costs ¥1,300. It’s located on the 4th floor of the MARK IS shopping complex, directly connected to Minato Mirai Station on the Minato Mirai Line. Eight different curries are available daily. For lunch, you can choose from the classic butter chicken curry, as well as tandoori chicken and biryani. My premium curry set arrived. I started with this papar. It’s salty and crispy, which is great. There are two types of curry: butter chicken curry and black pepper chicken curry. This time, I chose a large naan. The naan here is very large, so it’s very filling. This restaurant also serves saffron rice, so the portions are quite generous. The curry is spicy and you can choose the level of spiciness. If you like spicy food, try increasing the spiciness. The mango lassi after the meal was also delicious. Ranked ninth on Google with a 3.7 rating , the Koya Men’s Set at the Minato Mirai Tokyu Square branch of Gokujo Dandanmen Koya is priced at 1,430 yen. Located on the first basement floor of Tokyu Square, just a short walk from Minato Mirai Station, this restaurant specializes in dandan noodles. They offer four varieties of exquisite dandan noodles, and are said to be popular with celebrities and entertainers. I ordered the Koya Men’s Set. This set includes dandan noodles, two boiled dumplings, rice, and mango almond tofu. The dandan noodles look spicy. Let’s get started. Let’s start with the soup. The broth is quite spicy, but not too spicy. The thin noodles mix well with the dandan noodle broth, making it delicious. For those who don’t like spicy food, we recommend the Hime Dandan Noodles, a milder version with a sesame flavor. The tables are a little narrow, and seats are quite close together. It may feel a bit cramped when it’s busy. For those looking for a more relaxed dining experience, we recommend visiting during off-peak hours. Ranked #8, with a 4.2 rating on Google reviews. Gohan Susumu Yokohama Porta’s chunky vegetable soup curry (1,550 yen) is located on the first basement floor of Yokohama Porta, east of Yokohama Station. As the restaurant’s name, “Gohan Susumu,” suggests, it offers not only delicious soup and side dishes that go well with rice, but also a variety of side dishes. We start with the chunky vegetable soup curry. It’s a light curry with a Japanese-style broth and spices. The soup was very filling, containing large eggplants, tomatoes, lotus root, pumpkin, shishito peppers, and more. The more I ate, the more my appetite grew, making it perfect for a hot summer day. The seasoned egg in the side dish was also excellent and really made the rice go down well. Other side dishes are available as an a la carte. I ordered the horse mackerel fried with a generous amount of tartar sauce. On the table were accompaniments such as crunchy pickled plum and bonito flakes, rock seaweed and ginger, sesame and wasabi, and green seaweed and dried sardines. This alone would have been enough to fill me up on rice. My wife, by the way, ordered the chicken meatball salt chanko set meal with mixed grain rice. This soup was also rich in dashi and very delicious. I recommend this restaurant for those looking for healthy, hearty soup and Japanese cuisine near Yokohama Station. It’s ranked 7th and has a 4.5 rating on Google. Sushi and Ramen Uogashiya Minato Mirai 1st Avenue offers five nigiri sushi in red vinegar and a bonus bonito ramen for 1,500 yen. Located on the second floor of the Yokohama Sympho Stage East Tower near Shin-Takashima Station, between Minatomirai Station and Yokohama Station, this restaurant offers the dream combination of sushi and ramen at a reasonable price. Uogashiya sources its ingredients directly from Toyosu Market and Yokohama Central Market. It prides itself on its sushi made with these ingredients and its carefully crafted ramen. Upon entering the restaurant and handing over your meal ticket, the chefs begin preparing your sushi right away. The five pieces of red vinegar nigiri arrived. I started with the rolled sushi. The crispy seaweed, red vinegar rice, and salmon were a delicious match. This was better than the sushi that comes with a 1,500 yen set. The kombu-marinated pickled ginger was also a perfect match for the sushi. Each of the other nigiri nigiri dishes was also delicious, with their rich, fatty ingredients and red vinegar rice. The fatty tuna I had at the end was particularly exquisite. The red vinegar sushi alone was worth the 1,500 yen price tag. The ramen arrived just in time after I finished my sushi. The tea strainer that comes with the ramen contains freshly shaved bonito flakes. Mix with chopsticks for about 10 seconds to extract the bonito broth before serving. This is quite an innovative system, as the ramen is prepared right at your fingertips. Now, your bonito ramen is complete. The soup is a clear seafood broth made with kelp, dried sardines, and shiitake mushrooms, along with the bonito flavor. The broth is delicious, with a strong seafood flavor and a hint of bonito flavor. This ramen pairs well with sushi. The medium-thick, curly noodles blend well with the broth. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to be able to enjoy such authentic red vinegar sushi and ramen for just 1,500 yen, so I was quite surprised. It was a great value and satisfying experience. Ranked 6th, with a 4.6 rating on Google. Jankare!’s Sunday-only menu: Junk Curry with rice (large portion) and a fried egg (topping) for 1,700 yen. Located a 15-minute walk from Sakuragicho Station, this hidden restaurant is located in a residential area frequented by locals and office workers. The restaurant looks like this. There are signs, signs, and menus posted randomly. To be honest, I was a little hesitant to enter. But I decided to take the plunge. The friendly owner and the cute menu created a very cozy atmosphere. A short time after ordering, my Sunday-only junk curry with extra rice and a fried egg topping arrived. It looked more like a loco moco bowl I had in Hawaii than a curry. I started with the curry and rice. The curry was quite spicy, punchy, and delicious. There was raw cabbage underneath the curry. The occasional crunch of the cabbage added a nice touch. I also found several large chunks of steak hidden beneath the fried egg. This restaurant is particular about their meat, so the steak was generous and delicious. The curry also contained onions, garlic, and mushrooms. This hidden gem is recommended for those craving a large steak and punchy spicy curry. Ranked #5, with a Google review rating of 3.8. The beef tongue and beef cutlet curry at Yokohama Ushidokoro Gyuamikura, Yokohama Sky Building Branch, is 1,848 yen. Located on the 11th floor of the Sky Building at the east exit of Yokohama Station, this restaurant is part of the Senzan Group, which operates a variety of restaurants, including seafood teahouses, tonkatsu specialty restaurants, yakiniku restaurants, and beef tongue restaurants, primarily in Yokohama. Gyuamikura offers beef tongue dishes, authentic hitsumabushi (grilled rice topped with simmered broth), beef cutlet dishes, and eel dishes. First, my wife’s beef tongue and beef cutlet lunch arrived. It came with onion sauce, wasabi soy sauce, and rose salt as dipping sauces. We started with the beef cutlet. The batter was crispy, and the umami of the beef filled our mouths. Wasabi soy sauce and beef cutlet go so well together. This time, I had the beef tongue with the special miso sauce. It was chewy and delicious. This lunch offered two different dishes, so I was very satisfied. Next, my order of beef tongue and beef cutlet curry arrived. First, I had the beef tongue and curry with rice. Compared to pork cutlet curry, the beef cutlet curry had less fat and the meat was more tender, making it delicious. The curry had a rich flavor and paired perfectly with the rice. I’m glad I ordered a large portion of rice. Next time, I’ll have the curry with the tongue. Unlike grilled tongue, the stewed tongue is very tender and delicious. This beef tongue and beef cutlet curry is recommended for those craving a hearty meat meal. Ranked #4, with a 4.3 rating on Google. Hakata Motsunabe Oyama Yokohama’s Hakata Motsunabe Lunch – Oyama Gozen Miso Flavor – 2,398 yen. Located on the first basement floor of Yokohama Landmark Tower Dockyard Garden, this is a Yokohama restaurant where you can enjoy authentic Kyushu Hakata motsunabe. All rooms are private, making this restaurant perfect for those looking for a relaxing dining experience. The motsunabe arrived. While the motsunabe was still being heated, we enjoyed three side dishes. The side dishes were a single skewer of Hakata mentaiko (spicy cod roe) on the right, horse sashimi directly from Kumamoto (in the middle), and soft vinegared beef offal (on the left). Large servings of rice are free on weekdays, so I decided to order a large portion without hesitation. Let’s start with the mentaiko. There was only one skewer of mentaiko, so it was enough to fill a whole bowl of rice. I served it on hot rice. As expected, it was delicious. As you’d expect, authentic Hakata mentaiko is truly exquisite. Next, we had the soft vinegared beef offal. Beef vinegared beef offal is a local Hakata dish made by boiling beef intestines and seasoning them with vinegar. The thin offal was crunchy and delicious, and would make a great snack with sake. Next, we dipped the horse sashimi directly from Kumamoto in ginger soy sauce. The moment I put it in my mouth, the umami of the meat spreads and melts in my mouth. It’s definitely worth trying. The motsunabe seems almost ready, so let’s start. The pot is crammed with chives, cabbage, tofu, burdock, and offal. This pot is one serving. It’s quite a lot, isn’t it? My wife is eating champon noodles in a separate pot. I start with the offal. The offal is soft and chewy, and delicious. The offal here is really easy to eat. Next, I put it in a small dish and enjoy the motsunabe soup. The soup is packed with the umami of the offal, and it’s also very delicious. Finally, I add rice to the remaining offal soup for a delicious porridge. If you answer the questionnaire, you’ll receive a free Oyama special soy sauce ice cream for dessert. It’s hard ice cream, but it has a subtle soy sauce aroma and pairs well with the vanilla. It was the perfect dessert after warming my body from the motsunabe. Now, finally, let’s introduce our top three picks. Ranked third, with a Google review rating of 4.1. GOHANYA’ GOHAN offers a variety of set meals ranging from 1,100 yen to 1,550 yen. Located on the first floor of Minato Mirai Grand Central Tower, a five-minute walk from Minato Mirai Station, this restaurant is produced by the rice manufacturer Mitsuhashi Rice. This Japanese-style cafe offers delicious rice cooked in a clay pot using domestic rice selected by a five-star rice master, as well as unlimited refills of brown rice. On this day, I ordered the Atka Mackerel Set Meal. First, I took a bite of the rice. The white rice used that day was Yumepirika rice from Hokkaido. Because it’s cooked in a clay pot, each grain stands out, making it truly delicious. Next, I had the Atka Mackerel. The Atka Mackerel also had just the right amount of fat, making it the perfect side dish. Sesame furikake, perfect for garnishing freshly cooked rice, is available on the table, so I sprinkled it generously. The furikake seasoning alone is so delicious, it’s easy to eat a bowl of rice. On another day, I ordered the Rice Enjoyment Ohitsuzen. This Ohitsuzen features rice served in a rice container. It’s accompanied by salmon flakes, minced meat, kelp, and other accompaniments. This set meal allows you to fully enjoy the deliciousness of white rice. It ‘s a meal that’s only possible because the rice is so delicious. In fact, I frequented GOHANYA’ GOHAN countless times during my stay in Minato Mirai. Other dishes we tried included the fried white fish set, the brown rice set with chunky vegetables and chicken in black vinegar sauce, the hearty fried chicken set , and the grilled silver salmon marinated in 358 sauce. Both the rice and the side dishes were so delicious, this restaurant captured our appetites and wouldn’t let go. There’s nothing quite like eating delicious, freshly cooked rice. And finally, our second-place finish: the main branch of “Hamburger Over Flowers,” with a 4.6 rating on Google. A set of 50g of Wagyu sirloin yakisuki, a 200g medium-sized Hanayori Wagyu hamburger steak, rice, soup, and salad costs 3,050 yen. Located a two-minute walk from Yokohama Station, right next to the station’s west exit, this restaurant is a “general meat trading company” with over 50 years of experience in the production and sale of meat. They offer the highest quality hamburger steaks, made with 100% Japanese Black Beef, developed with the utmost care by this “general meat trading company.” First, six condiments and sauces were brought out to accompany the hamburger steak: rock salt, fragrant wasabi, yuzu pepper ponzu, original umami sauce, all-purpose onion soy sauce, and magical black sesame pepper sauce. Next, the meat and raw hamburger steak were brought out. Grill the meat and hamburger steak to your liking on the hotplate in front of you, yakiniku-style. The yakisuki meat is thin, but the sashimi is delicious. While the meat is cooking, beat the eggs for the rich egg yolk sauce. This luxurious sauce is made with the rich yolk of an Iwate egg and the aroma of Italian salted truffles. It would be delicious to pour this sauce over rice. Once the meat is cooked, add it to the sauce and toss it in the egg. This meat is truly delicious. The meat itself is good, but the meat mixed with the egg sauce is even better than yakisuki. It was so good that I already ate a third of my bowl of rice after just one piece of meat. I drank the second piece of meat with even more egg sauce than before. I really admire the person who came up with this combination of meat and sauce. Finally, it’s time for the hamburger steak. Cut the steak into your desired size with chopsticks and cook it yourself. This method is innovative and fun. Being able to eat it piping hot, little by little, cooked to your liking, is what you’d expect from a “general meat trading company.” They really do care about the customer’s feelings. As the meat cooked, the juices and fat began to release. It seemed almost cooked through, so I started eating. First, I enjoyed the original umami sauce. The meat itself was delicious, but since I cooked it myself, it felt about 1.5 times more delicious. I cut pieces with chopsticks, grilled them, and enjoyed them with various sauces until the very end. Finally, I had soft-serve ice cream. Refills were free, so I had three and was full. I was also captivated by the idea of refreshing myself with soft-serve ice cream after such a hearty meal. And finally, the #1 spot, with a 4.1 rating on Google, is the weekly weekday lunch menu at Chongqing Chinese Restaurant New Building: the Greedy Lunch Set for 2,500 yen and the Quick Lunch Set for 1,800 yen. The restaurant is located on the first floor of the Rose Hotel Yokohama, a two-minute walk from Motomachi-Chukagai Station. Chongqing Chinese Restaurant is a long-established Sichuan restaurant serving authentic Sichuan cuisine. Personally, I think it’s much better value to eat your fill at this lunch here than to wander around Chinatown on a weekday. The appetizers for the Greedy Set arrived: tomatoes, spicy fried chicken, and glass noodle salad. It also came with soup containing real shark fin. This is truly delicious. Next, a small bowl of mapo tofu arrived. The mapo tofu here is authentic Sichuan mapo tofu, so I highly recommend it for its spiced flavor. Then came the main course: shrimp with mayonnaise. Chongqing Restaurant’s shrimp dishes are always delicious, so I always go there during the week when they serve shrimp lunch. The shrimp are very large, usually ten pieces, making for a very satisfying meal. The mellow flavor of Chongqing Restaurant’s special mayonnaise complements the plump shrimp perfectly. I ate two bowls of rice with just the shrimp with mayonnaise. The greedy lunch comes with plenty of side dishes, so it’s recommended for men or those with a large appetite. For women or those with smaller appetites, the quick lunch without mapo tofu or shark fin soup is probably sufficient. We always order the greedy lunch, and my wife the quick lunch, which is just right for us. After the meal, coffee and almond pudding are served for dessert. This almond pudding, topped with a slightly tart mango sauce, is incredibly delicious. No matter how full you are after this great lunch deal, it’s so delicious you can eat as much as you want. For quick lunches, you can choose either coffee or this almond pudding, so I recommend choosing it. Another day, they had shrimp chili on their weekly lunch special, so we returned. My husband and I ordered the black vinegar sweet and sour pork and the shrimp chili to share. The shrimp chili had egg in the chili sauce and a slightly spicy flavor. It came with 10 large shrimp, so even sharing it between two people was satisfying in both flavor and quantity. As expected, the shrimp dishes here are exquisite. Of course, the black vinegar sweet and sour pork was also authentically seasoned and incredibly delicious. We ended up having seconds of rice and were completely full. We also enjoyed the almond pudding, a specialty of Chongqing Restaurant, as a dessert. The reason we ranked this restaurant #1 is because, even though we’re both stuffed after lunch, we always end up saying, “The food here is so delicious!” The main reason I ranked it #1 is because it makes me think, “I’ll come back here to eat again” and “I wonder when I can come back next.” At other restaurants, even if the food is delicious, once I’m full, I think, “That was good, but maybe I’ll have to wait a while.” But at Chongqing Restaurant, even after years of going, I still feel like I want to come back soon. That’s why I chose it as #1 this time. If I were to stay at a hotel around Yokohama, this would definitely be my number one repeat restaurant. And as an aside, if you’re planning on visiting Chongqing Restaurant, be sure to register for the Dragon Points & App beforehand. You can earn points for meals, souvenirs, the Rose Hotel, and campaigns. You’ll immediately receive 1,000 yen worth of points every time you visit, so be sure to register before going for lunch. That’s all for the ranking. There are many truly delicious restaurants around Yokohama’s Minato Mirai area. Please use this as a reference when choosing a restaurant. If you have any other information or advice about delicious restaurants, I’d like to use it as a reference the next time I return to Japan. Please let me know in the comments.
