フランスでキャンピングカーを楽しむ方法:ブドウ園での滞在、ドルドーニュの景色、カルカソンヌの城塞の探索🇫🇷

Hi everybody, I’m JT. Welcome to another video from me here at Camper Van Journey. [Music] [Applause] [Music] The same old I can Now, this video is part two of our latest trip to Europe. Currently, we’re in France and heading down through from the Normandy region down towards the door. We’ve got no fixed plan or agenda on this route. So, stay tuned to see how we get on. So, good morning from just trying to remember where we are. uh from Shayak which is uh where probably about um 50 miles from Limoge roughly halfway down France and uh we stayed here at this uh beautiful farm location overnight. It’s a a goat farm with a few animals as I I mentioned earlier, but we had a really really nice night’s sleep. Um it was actually surprisingly chilly. It’s the quite a rural part of France and the temperatures drop down to about 10° overnight which when you’ve been used to late 20s early 30s that’s a bit of a shock when you get up in the morning but uh beautiful day today glorious blue sunshine the chickens have been strutting around the cockals been crowing cockadoodle doing as CLA says. So today we carry on heading south down to the Dordoy region. We have pre-booked a campsite right next to the Dordoy River and we’re looking forward to spending a couple of nights there over the weekend. Oh, we did have a neighbor join us last night. So our splendid isolation. We were joined by some people from the Netherlands in their motor home. [Music] Heat. Heat. Heat [Music] [Applause] [Music] up here. [Music] No leveling chocks. First attempt. I’m pretty happy with that. I’m very, very happy with the view. So, we’ve arrived this evening at our only pre-booked campsite of our trip at Camping Hootopia in Bolia Sir Doy. This is a campsite that we’ve stayed at in the past. We came here, I think it was probably about 5 years ago, and we really liked it. But when we were here last time, it rained for the 3 or 4 days we were here, and we were on a pitch that was sort of in the middle of the campsite. So knowing that we were coming down probably towards the south of France on this trip, we decided to book just one site on our trip with no plan or agenda and this was it. But what that’s enabled us to do is pre-book a riverside pitch right next to the Dodorian River to enjoy the beautiful scenery. Let me show you around. So, the pitch is a good size and we’ve managed to squeeze the van on sideways. The van’s 6 m long, so it gives you an idea of the width. And then just walking around the back. Look at that. That is our riverside pitch. So, we’d only been here probably 20 minutes and we’d already seen a heron. Loads of ducks and ducklings paddling up and down. I’ve seen some fish jumping and people swimming in the river. There’s a we just up just out of sight which you can hear the wishing of and then a bridge that walks across and we’re going to we’ve actually booked in for two nights. I’ll put a video together with a proper JT campsite tour, but just to give you a taste, it’s absolutely lovely. So, now that we’re all set up, it’s time to enjoy our evening meal. And we popped to the supery on the way and picked up some very nice marinated pork steaks. So, looking forward to those. And a lovely glass of chilled wine. This, as they say, is the life. If you fancy a camper van journey sticker just like this one here, drop me an email at [email protected] and I’ll let you know how you can buy one or click the link in the description below. You do look really good on your van or on your laptop or on your camper van bin. Oh yes. Shame you haven’t got smellvision because they smell absolutely fantastic. Looks delicious. The local do duck population is thriving here. It’s right on our pitch. Look at the moon. [Music] So, good morning. It’s Monday morning here in the Doro and we’ve had a lovely couple of days here at the camping utopia site in Bouia. It’s time to move on though and we’re just packing up to get ready to head on to our next stop as we head further south into France. Our plan on our trip with no plan is now to head towards Carcasson and go and visit the famous medieval citadel and need to find somewhere to stop this evening on the way a little bit closer. So, we’ve got a couple of ideas, but we’re just going to get everything packed up and then head on down to there. But we’ve really really enjoyed the couple of nights that we’ve had here right next to the river here in the Doddy Valley. [Music] Well, thank you, Htopia. [Applause] [Music] Hey, [Music] hey, hey. Heat. Heat. [Music] [Music] So, we’ve made good progress this morning traveling down uh cross country and then joining the auto route down past Tulu’s. We’ve just passed Tulus. It’s around uh 2:00 in the afternoon. So, we’ve stopped for lunch at a very nice um air dipos, which is just a an off the motorway parking area, but these locations have got lots of picnic tables, toilet facilities, and lots of parking as well. We have picked up uh a couple of France Passion sites that we’re going to uh stop at later on. Hopefully, they’ll be available. One of them, probably the preferred option that we found on the map, uh, says call ahead, and they’ve only got one allocated space, but we haven’t been able to get through to the owner to see if we can book. So, we, um, we’ll probably have to have a backup plan in place if that one isn’t available. But, uh, they’re both about an hour and a half away. So, we’re just going to finish our lunch and then get on the way. But, it’s the temperature certainly creeping up. It’s about 30° 32° already, which is getting quite hot. How you doing, Harry? [Music] [Music] So, our France passion host has kindly invited us to taste some of his wines, which we’re happily going to oblig. It was the fridge. Nice. Yeah. See my smile. Yeah. More expensive. Harry gets to try some juice. So it is recommended you purchase some of the produce from your France passion hosts which we’d be very happy to do thanks to Mison Rose Paul and J who was very kind in looking after us in our wine tasting and no we didn’t taste all of those just a selection what a lovely perk thank Thank you Jill for looking after us so well. Well, what a lovely experience that was being looked after by the host of our France passion site, Gil. Uh we’ve had a little bit to taste. So, a little bit um not worse for wear, but uh enough to enjoy to convince us to buy some products to take home with us. But uh that is as I said part of the France Passion Scheme to reciprocate the generosity of the host by purchasing some of their products which we were very happy to do. Back to the camper van to cook up something for tea. Would you like to tell everybody what we’re doing my love? We’re having our tea and the edge of the vineyard. We are at one with France. We’re at one with France with the foothills of the Pyrenees just in the distance. And we’ve been wine tasting the produce from these very very vines this evening. I think that’s pretty good. I’m not sure if I mentioned earlier when we were leaving Dordoy Bulier Sordo what our plan was for the day and uh I’ve covered it already. Um, apologies, but the plan was to head south towards Carcasson where we’ve decided that we’d like to go and visit the famous Citadel, the very old medieval city that sits on the top of a a rocky outcrop. And I think it’s the second most visited historic site in France. I’m guessing after the Eiffel Tower or the the the Lou or or one of those. Um, but we needed a stopover for the night. Now, we refer referred to our trusty France Passion Book, had a flick through, found a couple of options that looked uh possible, and we wanted to try and be within about 20 minutes of Carcasson. Not too close. So, we’re in the realms of the city itself, but about 20 minutes drive away so that we can get up and go early to visit the Citadel before it gets too hot cuz it has been really, really hot today. If you’re going to go and visit the Citadel, it’s best to pre-book your tickets, which we’ve done online, and they actually book a time slot as well. So, we’ve gone for an early morning slot. Uh, so 20 minutes drive away from an early morning here should be absolutely possible. But uh we’d had two or three little locations that we were looking at. The first one uh said we had the call ahead and it was probably one of the only downsides we’ve had with France Passion so far. Uh this was a new member to the scheme. They only had one parking space uh available according to the handbook. Uh so it stipulated you must call ahead and it took us I think four uh tries before we actually got through to the lady to speak to and unfortunately uh she said that the the slot wasn’t available so we needed a backup plan. So, we are at the backup plan this evening and um yeah, it’s a bit of a disappointment. Uh to be honest, it wasn’t our first choice. So, we’ve ended up here. Now, I think a second choice is go. You have to say that that’s pretty good. In fact, very, very good. and the host, the owner Azil very kindly invited us uh into their tasting session this evening. Um to summarize, we’re on a vineyard where 70 hectares where they make where they grow their own grapes and produce their own wine for distribution all around the world. He was telling us about bottles this week that are being collected to go over to Japan, but we tasted some very nice Chardonnay, some very nice roses. We left the reds alone because uh a little bit early in the afternoon to be tasting wines for the for the rest of the day, but uh we’ve bought a couple of bottles as a thank you uh for letting us stay on his land. But we have a had a lovely lovely evening sat in amongst the vines watching the sun go down enjoying our tea. And this every video I’ll make a mention, but this is what owning a camper van is all about. If we didn’t have our camper van, there’s no way we’d be experiencing what we’re experiencing now. So if you needed any further excuse to go out and buy a van, invest in one, buy a used one, buy a 25y old one, if it gives you the chance to experience something like this, especially as a family, it’s fantastic and you’re going to make some amazing memories. Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Music] [Music] Heat. Heat. [Music] So, we are in the queue now for our pre- booked tickets, which hopefully is supposed to make it a little quicker to me. But I was just saying to Clar, I had no idea that you’ve got effectively a town within the city walls because you just passed a whole load of gift shops, restaurants, boutiques, all within the medieval walls, which is really quite a an eye opener because you’d never see that at a UK historic monument. But yeah, busy but fascinating place so far. [Music] Yes. [Music] Wow. [Music] So, I hope you’re enjoying a walk around the ramp parts and the shadow castle so far. Go on a bit of a conveyor belt cuz it’s so busy. Fascinating. So once you’ve explored the inside of the chatau, your next the next step is to take a tour around the ramparts which go all the way around the perimeter of the citadel. What I didn’t realize earlier is how much of it is actually Roman. So it goes back couple of thousand years. You can tell the Roman influence by a lot of the buildings have got the rounded roof tiles. We just see them behind me. But yeah, fantastic place. Well worth a visit if you’re in this part of France. [Music] If you can cope with the steps and it is a bit narrow and steep at times, this rampart walk is a great way to experience the sheer size of Carcasson. And this is what I mean about the access. You got to be happy with stairs. On a day like today, you do get some pretty epic views and it’s very windy. You need to hold on to your hat. We’ve seen several lost hats blown over by in various places. Oh, what a fantastic visit that was. Definitely well worth it if you’re in the area. Um, I’ll probably put together a longer video just telling you a little bit more about it cuz there’s a lot to see. And if you’re here, you can probably spend the whole day here. Um, there’s so much to see and just amble around. Lots of lovely restaurants, lots of lovely gift shops, lot of bars. I didn’t realize that all of that is in addition to the castle. So, you could actually come here and not buy tickets if you weren’t bothered about seeing the castle itself and just enjoy the city and its surroundings. So, good morning. Welcome to I think it’s Wednesday and I think it is day six of our trip with no plan. Um, we had a fantastic day visiting Carcasson yesterday and really really enjoyed looking around the medieval city ruins and all of the surrounding boutiques. And it was quite an incredible place actually. I had no idea that it was so much more than just the historic castle and the ramparts. Um, but it was very very busy. Well worth the visit. Uh and from there we continued our drive south uh heading towards Spain and we using the search for sites app uh came across the campsite where we are now which is a place called camping lacard and it’s about five kilometers roughly from the nearest the nearest town is a town called Axat which is about 5 km kometers away if you’re looking for it on the map. But uh booked in here for two nights. It cost us the grand total of around about €60 including electric hookup. And it is absolutely beautiful. I’ll do a little video with a proper campsite tour uh separately. But just to give you a feel of the view from our pitch, have a look at this. pictures are all really nicely laid out with laurel hedging and the fur trees. It’s pretty basic. I think it’s only rated as two star and there’s no pool or anything which I guess means which is why there don’t seem to be many families here with younger children. But it’s lovely. We had a great night’s sleep last night and I think today we’re just going to spend the day relaxing here at the campsite and enjoying the scenery, taking stock, as you will as we think about the next steps on our trip with no plan. Now, I hope you’re enjoying this video series so far of our trip with no plan. If you are, please remember to give us a like. Please remember to hit the subscribe button. So Who are Campervan Journey?

We are JT, Harry, Claire, Sam and Ben, oh and Hunny the Dog. We discovered campervanning in 2015 when we bought our first Volkswagen T5 Combo after seeing many at our favourite campsites. We were staying with our tent, and dreaming that one day we would have our own Campervan. After much research, we bought and converted our own T5 Kombi to suit our requirements, check out the video on the channel. We soon discovered that owning a Campervan is a way of life and it is not just about amazing trips round Europe, it’s as much about great days out and family time…

We have been lucky enough to visit some amazing places with our van, many of which we know we wouldn’t have seen if we had not owned it. They instil a sense of adventure and where shall we go into your life.

After 3 years with the T5, we upgraded to a Volkswagen T6 California Beach, and then after 5 years we upgraded to our current van, our Hymer Free S 600. We continue to enjoy travelling and visiting some amazing places. You can check out our latest videos and adventures here on the channel !

Please remember and hit SUBSCRIBE! if this is your thing ! We try to make videos to share the good and bad of where we have been and some tips and tricks that we have learnt along the way, as well as reviews of some of the things we have bought to use whilst camping and places we have visited and stayed.

Remember, We believe that buying a Campervan was one of the best things we have ever done !!!

  1. Looks lovely! But we wouldn’t have wanted that riverside pitch when we were in the Dordogne in April! Biblical rain and flooding! 😂

  2. Been doing “trips with no plan” throughout Europe for about 15 yrs – only way to do it. Look at the weather map and point the van where the sun is. Bliss.
