【水上温泉】泊まって良かった宿7選|Japanese hot-spring|onsen
Hello, I’m shiba. Minakami Onsen is located in Minakami town, Gunma prefecture. It spans a vast area with 18 hot-spring areas, including Minakami, Sarugakyo, Tanigawa, and Kamimoku Onsen. Although there is a perception of decline over time, such as a decrease in group visitors, there are many unique and attractive inns. I’d like to introduce you to the inns that still hold strong popularity. These are the delightful inns where I had a pleasant stay. Please watch to the end. The order of the videos is from cheapest to most expensive. Also, please check inn’s official website for the latest information, as rates vary widely depending on the day of the week and season. Now, let’s get started! The first inn is a large ryokan with red exterior walls. Minakami Onsen “Matsunoi” Opened in 1956, operated by Seagull Resort Innovation Co., Ltd. 225 rooms in total, from the 1st basement floor to the 10th floor Spacious and stylish lounge As soon as you step into the inn, you will be excited! The room I used this time was a twin Western-style room, 18.6 square meters. It is the smallest room, but it is bright and open with a large window. The standard of other rooms is 10 tatami mats or larger Japanese-style room or Japanese-Western room. 2 persons per room per night (weekday) 12,100 yen~ per person They have 4 private hot springs, 2 large baths, 3 open-air baths, and 5 private baths, all of which are free-flowing. Some are circulated. The resting area is also a healing space with a view of the courtyard. The garden baths are alternating between men and women. Spring quality: Alkaline simple spring For dinner, choose a full-course meal at restaurant “Kashikiya”. It was very good, but the “Kashikiya” plan may be closed now. It would be better to check with the hotel in advance if you wish to have this dinner. “Grilled lobster in a stone oven”. Other plans include a buffet plan and a Japanese meal plan. Incidentally, this is the most popular buffet venue. Breakfast was planned to be a buffet, but it was crowded, so I was recommended plate morning at the restaurant. I really liked that the coffee was pot service! It is very spacious and gorgeous, like a theme park. It is a large inn that can be enjoyed by all generations. The second inn is from Sarugakyo Onsen, located just before Mikuni Pass connecting Minakami town and Yuzawa town in Niigata. Sarugakyo Onsen “Sarugakyo Hotel” Established in 1928, 49 rooms in total. The main building, annex, and hot-spring building are spaciously located on a large site. 2 persons per room per night (weekday) 14,850yen~ per person Today’s room is a Japanese-Western style room with twin beds. Akaya Lake is in full view. The most important point of this inn is the size and quantity of hot water in the large and open-air baths. As you can tell by the sound, the hot-spring water is flowing generously. Because it is built on a hill, the large open-air bath has a wide view. Source: Sarugakyo Onsen (shared spring Yushima)
Spring quality: Calcium sodium sulfate hot spring
Spring temperature: 55.5℃, pH: 7.6, clear and colorless There are two private baths, a rock bath and a cypress bath. Both are free-flowing hot-spring water. Another feature is that there is a tofu factory on the premises, and dinner is mainly served with homemade tofu. Here is dinner. There are other dishes as well! Make your own “Yuba”. Fun and tasty. The staff showed me an example. Good job! Breakfast is “The buffet of tofu shop” It is served with a view of Lake Akaya. A line of carefully prepared delicacies. I want to eat grilled rice balls. Enjoy plenty of hot spring water in a typically peaceful inn. The third inn is located in Kamimoku Onsen, the entrance to Minakami Town. Kamimoku Onsen “Tatsumikan” Established in 1924, 41 rooms in total 2 persons per room per night (weekday) 15,730yen~ per person This room is “Toryukan”, Japanese-style room 10 tatami mats. The pinkish and soft atmosphere of this room is popular among women. When you open the window, the sound of the Tone River is pleasant. The large public baths are by turns for men and women. I’ll see the popular “Haniwa Bath”. This large mural is a work of “Kiyoshi Yamashita”. Kiyoshi Yamashita seems to have visited this inn many times. Private bath “Hina no Yu” made by all-cypress Stylish bath. Source-of-spring water is free-flowing. Tatsumikan is the source of hot spring in Kamimoku Onsen. Source: Arayu No.2 spring
Spring quality: Sodium calcium sulfate and chloride spring
Spring temperature: 41℃, Colorless This inn has a very large number of repeat guests. The secret of its popularity is dinner! “Charcoal mountain village cuisine” served in a hearth. The grilled rice balls with homemade miso are especially excellent. Even the desserts are homemade and satisfying. Breakfast is in a different location, on the top floor (5th floor) with a nice morning sunrise. There were a large number of items and each dish was a very tasty breakfast. Despite the reasonable price, it is a very satisfying experience, and you will want to revisit this inn. The fourth is the first hotel opened by the Juraku Hotel Group. Minakami Onsen “Minakami Hotel Juraku” Opened in 1956, 10 floors, 99 rooms Reopened in 2018 with a shift in target customers from groups to individuals. Now it continues to evolve into a food and beverage all free in the building. 2 persons per room per night (weekday) 18,000yen~ per person Today’s room: Japanese-style room 12 tatami mats This is the smallest room, but the window on the top floor (10th floor) overlooks the Tone River and the mountains. Other rooms are of various types. Various events are also available in the spacious inn. The baths are on the first floor and basement. Three large public baths and open-air baths with men and women taking turns Source: Old Minakami hot spring
Spring quality: Calcium sodium sulfate/chloride onsen
Spring temperature: 42.3 ℃, pH: 7.6, clear and colorless
There is water adding, heating, and circulation filtration The open-air bath is spacious. The two large baths are connected to each other, creating a bit of a mystery. There are many bathtubs, and this is a cypress Jacuzzi. Also, there is lukewarm water. The most popular “Dining Buffet” As soon as I enter the dining, the liveliness is incredible! Many of the staff are cooking in the open kitchen! Many people say that this is the deciding factor in their reservations. In front of the restaurant, the busy time for breakfast was indicated. Omelets made to order are very popular. Also famous for its delicious bread. It can also be ordered to be picked up at checkout. It is a convenient and comfortable hotel with a large parking lot. The fifth is a long-established ryokan located at the foot of Mt.Tanigawa. Tanigawa Onsen “Ryokan Tanigawa” This is the first inn I posted on this channel. I think it’s hard to see because it’s poorly photographed, sorry. Established in 1952, 28 rooms in total 2 persons per room per night (weekday) 22,150yen~ per person This room is a Japanese-style twin room 10 tatami mats Rooms are being renovated sequentially, with more rooms having beds. This is a stylish room with Ryukyu tatami mats. I was not allowed to photograph the large baths, but I was allowed to photograph the private open-air baths, so here they are. There are two private open-air baths. There are 22 stairs, so those with weak legs and backs may prefer to stay Hinoki no Yu. in a guest room with an open-air bath. Hinoki no Yu. Hinoki no Yu. It’s night, so it doesn’t show well… I chose the square wooden cup. Source: Tanigawa hot spring (3 private sources and 1 public source)
Spring quality: Weak alkaline simple hot spring
Spring temperature: 48.3℃, pH: 8.3, clear and colorless
Source-of-spring free-flowing (some circulation filtration) Dinner is served in a semi-private room. Kaiseki cuisine using local ingredients The famous fried char. It is an exquisite dish! Sukiyaki meat is tender Jyoshu beef The flour dumplings in soup and homemade pickles are delicious. I also had breakfast, but actually I can’t find the data… sorry. It is shown in the main chapter, if you would like to see it. Osamu Dazai Gallery He wrote “Souseiki” here. These seem to be probably valuable items of those days. These have been saved carefully. Last but not least, there is a footbath in front of the lounge. Warm and cozy. It is typical of Ryokan Tanigawa. The sixth is an inn where the folk tale of “Zashiki Warashi” remains. Sarugakyo Onsen “Shojuen” Established in 1977 A single-story house with only 13 rooms on a plot of 2400 tsubo (about 8000m2) It’s like a big village headman in the old days. 2 persons per room per night (weekday) 25,300yen~ per person Today’s room: Japanese-style room with 2 rooms, 33 square meters Relax under a horigotatsu Let me show you around from the spa building. This is the women’s bath. The hot springs don’t alternate between men and women. The bottom of the bathtub is covered with riverbed stones. Source: Sarugakyo Onsen (Town-owned No. 1 spring)
Spring quality: Calcium, sodium, sulfate, chloride onsen
Spring temperature: 61.3℃ Clear and colorless Open-air bath. There are 13 guest rooms, so it was never crowded. Two private baths are available when available, no reservation required. “Yuhi”, the bathtub is paved with stones, and the rest of the bathtub is made of cypress. “Asahi” with two bathtubs, all made of cypress. Breakfast and dinner are served in your room. Depends on the number of guests per room and the plan. The young proprietress prepared it for me. One-pot meals of Jyoshu brand pork Grilled rockfish with salt At the end of the pot, they made rice porridge. It’s fluffy and gentle. All the dishes were carefully prepared and very tasty. I had a breakfast that was properly prepared one by one. The famous “rice porridge with buckwheat seed” is excellent with a gentle taste. Hachiman-sama is also enshrined in front of the main gate, and many ema (votive picture tablet) were dedicated there. It is a good inn, largely due to the personality of the young proprietress. Lastly, the inn known as the most exquisite ryokan in Minakami Onsen Tanigawa Onsen “Bettei Senjuan” Founded in 1997 Three-story building. There are only 18 guest rooms in the 10,000 tsubo (about 33,000m2) building. 2 persons per room per night (weekday) 51,400yen~ per person This room is “Japanese-style room B” with 12 tatami mats. The smallest of the 7 types of rooms. Open-air bath in the room All baths are free-flowing from our own hot-spring water source. Source: Tanigawa hot spring (3 types)
Spring quality: Calcium sodium sulfate/chlorides onsen
Spring temperature: 41.4℃, pH: 8.4 Men and women take turns in the large baths. Public bath “Ichi no Kura” Open-air bath ‘Suzumushi no Yu” When you go down from the open-air bath… I found a great place. Public bath“Sen no Kura”. I visited during cleaning, so the hot water was drained. Open-air bath “Hotaru no Yu” Dinner is served in a private room. The cuisine is a monthly kaiseki course. Grilled sweetfish with salt All dishes are very tasty with a light flavor that makes the most of the ingredients. Today’s main dish Masuda beef grilled shabu-shabu Rice with corn and “Chigirikko” (flour dumpling soup) Dessert: Anmitsu (bean jam) made to look like hydrangea When I returned to my room, my evening meal was ready. Warm up the chimaki and enjoy. There is also a cold watermelon in the refrigerator! Breakfast is served in the same room as dinner. (Choice of rice) I chose the enzyme brown rice. Carefully prepared Japanese food is really delicious. Finally, I’d like to show you my favorite places on the courtyard walk. A hut-like building that looks like something out of Ghibli Reading room There are many books and chairs and drinks available inside. When you go out on the deck…
