Switzerland’s Most Beautiful Train Journey – Grindelwald to Lauterbrunnen
In this video Welcome back! Time for a magical train ride in Switzerland. Today, we ride through the heart of the Alps—where every window frames a masterpiece. From the mountain village of Grindelwald, to the spectacular valley of Lauterbrunnen. Grab a window seat, sip something warm, and let’s ride through the Alps together! We begin our journey here in Grindelwald — perched at 1,034 meters above sea level. This charming alpine village is often called the “Glacier Village” of the Bernese Alps. Look around — wooden chalets with flowered balconies, mountain peaks in every direction. Ah, now this is a view worth a postcard, isn’t it? Look at those wooden chalets scattered like confetti on the hillside… Every rooftop has its own little story, and every path winds toward the heart of Alpine life. Just above us towers the legendary Eiger North Face — a wall of rock that has challenged climbers for generations. Grindelwald feels peaceful, yet full of life. Would you spend a week in a place like this? Or maybe just a few days — Swiss prices aren’t exactly a budget traveler’s dream But hey, at least the trains run like clockwork, everything’s spotless, and the views? Worth every franc. Honestly, they’re among the most enjoyable in all of Europe Super comfy seats, big windows, and views that look like they belong in a painting. Even short trips feel special — like this one from Grindelwald to Lauterbrunnen. It’s only about 40 minutes, but packed with scenery The cost? Around 11 euros — that’s roughly 10.50 Swiss francs or 12 US dollars Not exactly cheap for such a short ride… but in Switzerland, beauty always comes with a cost. Still, I think it’s totally worth it — because what you get in return are memories that stay with you for a lifetime. Did you know this line is part of the Berner Oberland Bahn? It connects locals, hikers, and dreamers like us — through the heart of the Alps. Wow — look at that waterfall, gently cascading down the cliff like a silver ribbon through the trees. Quiet, graceful, and catching the light in all the right ways. Only in Switzerland do train rides come with views like this. It’s hard to care about your phone when this is your view. Screens just can’t compete with windows like these. Looks like we’ve just made some new friends on the other train And that little guy? Instant good vibes! And the journey rolls on — winding through forests, past wooden huts tucked into the hills, and always with the Alps in the background. It’s the kind of train ride where you don’t want it to end. This is the kind of view people dream about. Enjoyed the ride? A like would go a long way — thanks for hopping on this train journey with me! And just below us, flowing right alongside the tracks, is the Lütschine River. Cold, clear, and fast — straight from the mountains. If you’re spending more than a couple of days here, it’s a great idea to get either a Swiss Travel Pass Or a Berner Oberland Regional Pass — both can save you a lot of money and make travel easier. The Swiss Travel Pass covers most trains, buses, boats, and even free entry to 500+ museums — great if you’re traveling around the whole country. The Berner Oberland Pass is ideal if you stay in the Alps near Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, or Grindelwald. It includes trains, cable cars, and mountain rides — even discounts to Jungfraujoch. Pick what fits your route and you’ll save time and money — especially if you’re heading to Jungfraujoch, the highest railway station in Europe at 3,454 meters From up there, you get breathtaking views of the Aletsch Glacier, plus access to the Ice Palace, viewing platforms, and snow activities all year round. Did you know that many tunnels in Switzerland have mobile signal? Even deep in the Alps, you can get texts or use the internet on the train Major tunnels like Gotthard and Lötschberg are equipped with 4G, sometimes even 5G, using special antenna systems. Now we arrive in Zweilütschinen — a sleepy little village where two mountain rivers meet. We change trains here — and, as always in Switzerland, it’s smooth and simple. We walk a bit further along the same platform and wait for the next train that’ll take us to our final stop: Lauterbrunnen. If you enjoyed this train ride, a quick thumbs up would mean a lot. Thanks a million for riding along! Not a bad place to wait This station comes with its own mountain view — like a little preview of what’s ahead. And just like that — we didn’t have to wait long, and our train has arrived. And now — the final stretch. As the train pulls away, the valley tightens around us Steep cliffs rise like giants, covered in greenery. Sit back, relax, and soak in the views — with some calming music to match. If you’re feeling a bit stressed today, I hope this helps you breathe easier — even just a little. Did you know you can travel all across Switzerland with just one ticket using the Swiss Travel Pass? Trains, boats, buses — even some mountain cable cars are included Did you know that some train stations in the Alps are among the highest in Europe? Jungfraujoch is the highest at 3,454 meters, reachable entirely by train. At Jungfraujoch, Europe’s highest train station is built inside a glacier. You can even walk through the Ice Palace, a tunnel carved directly into the heart of the ice — cold, quiet, and absolutely magical. Almost there — Lauterbrunnen awaits at 796 meters altitude. Just a few more moments to alpine paradise! And this is Lauterbrunnen station — often buzzing with travelers, and no surprise why It’s the gateway to one of the most visited and breathtaking valleys in all of Switzerland. This valley has inspired poets, painters, and wanderers for centuries. And that’s the end of our ride to Lauterbrunnen — but not the end of the story. If you want to see more of this magical valley, I’ve filmed a full tour right here on the channel. So if you’re curious, go check it out.

🚆 As the train glides through the valley, the world outside the window feels like a living painting. Snow-kissed peaks, rolling green hills, wooden chalets, and waterfalls tumbling from cliffs — all passing by in slow, peaceful silence. 🌿🏔
