the coliseum looms its ancient stones echoing with the ghosts of gladiators tourists swarm around the base their voices a constant hum against the backdrop of history i am lost in time picturing the clash of steel and the roar of the crowd amidst the ruins of the Roman forum I wander enveloped by the ghosts of a bygone era the sun blazes down as I struggle to imagine the vibrant life that once pulsed through these stones a tour guide’s voice reverberates through the ruins narrating tales of emperors and citizens the Trevy fountain bursts with baroque splendor and the gleam of water as I become part of the throng of tourists each tossing coins with dreams of returning to Rome the festive air vibrates with the splash of coins and the soft hum of voices a symphony of hope and anticipation inside St peter’s Basilica the overwhelming scale and opulence of the architecture inspire awe sunlight streams through stained glass windows illuminating intricate mosaics and towering statues the air is thick with the scent of incense and the hushed whispers of reverence as the sun sets the sky transforms into a canvas of orange and pink a sense of peace washes over me the city stretches out below a tapestry of rooftops and ancient monuments contentment settles as I reflect on the day’s journey
