KAKO je bilo danas i GDE smo vozili!?
As part of the motorcycle tour “Alpe Adria”, I spend a few days in Vienna, where many of my companions and friends live. At my invitation, Milan came here from Maribor , and Eduard and Martin are here from Prague. Today is a beautiful spring day in April, so I organized a joint motorcycle ride that will be joined by motorcyclists from Vienna and Pressbaum. Kecman… Guten morgen. Guten morgen. Let’s go… Bratislav, Ognjen, Miloš, Maki, Lucky and Deki Varaderos with his wife Chika Story is the editor of the show Total of 12 of us on 11 engines. All experienced drivers, no beginners, no weak links. The meeting is at 10 a.m. in front of Motoshop Louis Plan: more than 200 km of Austrian roads. The group ride will be led by one of the local bikers who knows the terrain. His name is Ognjen. We will drive in formation, organized, with breaks in several places. The famous Kalte Kuchl, a legendary destination among motorcyclists in this part of Europe, awaits us on the route . And when the ride is over, we won’t part ways right away. We will go to lunch together, where we will continue the motto stories. Everything is recorded. Go full throttle. First a surprise, Deki Varaderos came on a KTM, without Varadero. But Varadero is here, Varadero is here. Unfortunately for Varadero, my water hose broke and otherwise, I would have come via Varadero today. I assumed… I didn’t expect you on the KTM, let me tell you right away . That’s how it’s set up, but Vadero will still be in use, so we won’t part with it Olja, how is it for you as a passenger? Well, I’m waiting for a new seat. Yeah. And a new seat must? Yes. Because this is a little uncomfortable to endure a little longer drive, it can’t. Maki, how is Maki? Here, it’s good. You, are you okay? Well, it’s not bad, it’s good. Is he ugly, huh? It’s not, it’s not… special… It’s not like GS Are you on vacation? We went to town yesterday to take a short walk. Walked, came back. On Uban 4? Yes, yes. Miloš, where is your Yamaha? Ah, there. Yes, let’s take a moment to see the proposal for a motorcycle tour. Bratislav takes on the role of moderator Clear, precise, concrete. We exit on Triester strasse. A convoy of 11 engines departs. Everyone holds their own line, without fail. The city lets us go, the green ripple of traffic lights, the smell of gasoline in the spring air, the sound of engines echoing between buildings. In a group, he drives as precisely as clockwork. No one goes wild, no one creates chaos, but we all seem powerful. 17° outside. Ideally. We are moving towards the exit from the city. We are exiting the highway towards Graz. The goal is exclusion for Wolersdorf. The pace is light but steady. This is not a rush, this is a controlled force. The engines work perfectly, all in the same rhythm. This is the ride, this is the style, this is the team. The group includes BMW, Honda, Ducati, Yamaha, KTM. Each of us has our own machine, but we all breathe as one. The column stretches and then compresses again. The home boys lead precisely without sudden moves. Everyone knows where they belong. This is not a tourist walk. This is serious driving. The speedometer goes over a hundred. We slowly turn off the highway and pass a gas station. No one stops, there is no need, the tanks are full, the focus is maximum No horn, no nervousness, this is a motorcade of great caliber. The rear view, everything is under control Of course, there is a little room for relaxation as well. The noise of the city has long been behind us, and then the boring drive on the highway. Now the real motorcycle story begins. We turn off at Wollersdorf. We climb in the direction of the Hohewand, a mountain plateau that local bikers adore. A clear mountain river flows down the valley. By the side of the road local farms, barns of dark wood, flowers in the windows. There is nothing artificial, everything here is real and untouched. The landscape changed radically. The wide road narrowed. We entered the green. Conifers on the left, meadows on the right. As we climb, the curves become more frequent, the view becomes wider. Columns of serious engines cut the asphalt without fail. The pace is just right. Fast enough to feel the machine, but slow enough to absorb every detail around you. The temperature drops slightly, but the air is clean and fragrant. There is no noise, just the sound of the engine and the soft crackle of the exhaust when downshifting . The curves are lined up one after the other. The asphalt is perfect, visibility is excellent. This is a biker’s dream ride. And the team, pure discipline. Everyone keeps their distance. Nobody jumps the lines. Home boys lead. Everyone knows where they are going. No wandering, no mistakes. This is not the first tour for either of us The Hohe Wand is waiting for us up there. First break, panoramic view, high air. The real deal after some serious driving. The route to the Hohe Wand via Mark Piesting, Draistetten and Gaden is a real treasure for bikers. This is no ordinary road. This is an Austrian classic. This is where the first serious curves begin. The asphalt is flawless. No holes, no patches. Here you don’t have to look down, look ahead and drive. Bratislav takes on the role of a guide, so he tries to explain something to me . And just when you think that everything will be just curve after curve, a direction opens up. A couple of kilometers of clean lines of perfect asphalt through a spacious valley. On the left, pastures, on the right, a forest . In front, a flat strip of road like a runway. This is the part where the engine sputters. Put it in sixth gear, open the gas, but don’t go crazy. Pure pleasure in stability and speed without stress. Engine quiet. Everything works as it should. The team remains compact. No one jumps out, no one sleeps. Everyone knows that after a straight line, there are curves again. This is a moment to rise, to look around. Austria knows how to make a road for motorcycles. Not too challenging, not too easy. Just enough to not be boring. And we use it to the maximum. After half an hour of driving, we take our first break. Bato, where have we come, can you tell? Here it is, Ognjen was a guiding path, but we came to the Hohe Wand. One panorama, we can see See here is a paraglider. There are plenty of paragliders. There is also a sleeping bag. Milan, do you like the ride so far? Just right for you . I didn’t. Pace, is it ok? I didn’t step on the gas. And that was for you, that was… so you didn’t put it in the third? Okay, I slowed down a bit like that, yeah. Yes, let’s see what that viewpoint looks like, Eduard, isn’t this one in the Czech Republic? There is no There is up there in the north. Where, according to Poland. Yes, yes, it’s up there. I don’t know, have you been to Liberec? You are going to Dresden. Yes, I passed. Yes. And if you go right along the Czech-German border… along the Ognije cliff, you’re here every other weekend? This year for the first time. The first time. If someone is short of money, they can go to that viewpoint, it costs one or two euros. Bro, how’s the Honda going? So okay. Good. Excellent. It’s my first time driving it, so I’m a bit reserved. It’s Lucky’s Honda, right? Yes, yes. He bought almost? Yes, yes. This is literally my first time driving it, he hasn’t driven it yet… It goes 200, doesn’t knock anything. Yes, yes Good. Then let’s stop at the pump and check the oil. Yes, yes. How far did you go? 10,000 Chika Story, can you lift the drone? Can it… come on, come on, can it The team is looking for a drone Hohe Wand has fallen. We have arrived. Engines parked, helmets removed, but the story is not over. I’m flying the drone now. While the others enjoy the view, I switch to another gear, from a bird’s eye view. The drone takes off into the sky and then – boom – everything opens up. Below us the cliffs, the forest, the serpentines we just passed. Further, plains of mountains in the background, valleys cut by rivers and villages as if from a fairy tale. And on the edge of the rock, we, the 12 of us, a team ready for anything. These are not just shots, this is proof, proof that we were there, that we were driving. A drone is circling above us, as is this paraglider Frame by frame, each for a poster. The camera captures the forest line, sharpens the fall into the abyss. The drone is still up, makes a circle and descends. Easy, like landing on an aircraft carrier, precise, without a mistake. When he lands, we know it’s time to move on. Martin is standing alone on the edge, Milan has his hands in his pockets, Eduard is smiling, Kecsman is commenting on the road, Lucky is taking out a bottle of water, Varaderos and his wife are taking pictures. Everyone has their moment. Someone is leaning on a rock, someone is lighting a cigar, someone is silent and watching. No need for a story. The view says it all As the drone completes its final lap and descends among us, one thing is clear. The route is carefully chosen, the team is harmonious, the pace is exactly as it should be. After the break, we continue driving. Ognje, what is the relationship? Puchberg then on to Kalte Kuhle. Yeah. How many more kilometers do we have to Kalte Kuchl? 50, 50 or so Good. Maybe a little less. Bato, you are at Kalte Kuchl almost every other day? So… We leave the Hohe Wand and immediately change the rhythm. We enter the forest. The descent begins We will pass through the towns of Zweiersdorf, Grunbach am Schneberg, Puchberg, Miesenbach, Perniz, Gutenstein Klauzbach Rorh im Gebirge and finally arrive at the second break, which will be at Kalte Kuchl. Now it is no longer a wide panoramic road. This is a narrow strip of asphalt through a dense forest, on this side trees, high, shadow dense temperature drops. The road is winding, sharp, requires concentration. No bank, no fence. The shadow is deep, every movement must be precise. No too much gas, but no relaxation either. There is no racing here, it is driven out of respect. I can feel the engine running at lower revs. Every sound of the exhaust bounces off the trunk. Every curve is a lesson. Every downhill a brake check. The column is calm, tight, there is no nervousness, everyone is driving smart. These roads do not forgive mistakes, but that’s why they give silence, the smell of the forest and the feeling that you are in some hidden biker world that only those who explore know. At the end of that forest pass, we reach the Rohr im Gebirge valley. The air is still fresher, the engines are warm, and we are ready to continue. The landscape changes often. Now the landscape is wider. We drive through a mountain valley, left and right, meadows and pastures, and in the distance the Schneberg massif recedes. We enter Zweiersdorf, a small village, just a couple of streets. Houses with wooden balconies, gardens arranged like from a catalog, and mountains behind everything. There is no noise, just the hum of our engines and the chirping of birds. Typical Austrian silence. Respect is implied. We leave the village and pick up the pace towards Grundbach am Schneberg. The road is perfect, clean, dry with gentle hills and long clear curves. The team drives in formation and everyone knows what they are doing. Order, discipline and enjoyment. Everything is in place. This section provides an opportunity to release the engine and drop the leg a little lower. We understand why bikers from all over Europe come here. Because these sections are not an ordinary road, but an experience. The magic begins. The road is narrow, just enough for one vehicle. Around us is a dense coniferous forest. This is a driver’s paradise. We arrive at Kalte Kuchl, a place that has a soul and every biker who rides through Austria knows to stop, talk and remember here. This place is not on the way, this is the destination. The engines stop one by one. There is no rush and everything is precise. It’s as if everyone instinctively knows where they belong. The parking lot is full. We arrived at the famous Kalte Kuchl. We’re going to take a break here. Lots of engines as usual. Saturday afternoon, one of the first nice weekends of the season. This is no ordinary pub. This is a biker base, a restaurant, a motel, a garden full of people in motorcycle gear. They are all similar, and at the same time they are all different. We sat down at the table, took off our equipment, ordered coffee, juice, cappuccino. But what is ordered the most is the story… about who came by which way, what they went through and where they plan to go next. At the tables next to the team from Graz, from the Czech Republic, from Hungary. BMW, KTM, Honda, Suzuki. All together, no divisions Just the common denominator, the engine and the road. We are done with the break and we are going back to Vienna. Milan, it’s your first time here, right? First time, Bojan. Do you like it? It’s very nice. I couldn’t believe that she brought us drinks in two minutes, and there are 1000 of us bikers here. They are trained. It’s time to return to Vienna. For the return, not the shortest, but the most beautiful route was chosen. The first part is wide, clean, the pace is fast, but not wild. The team is tight, driving precisely. The first corners heat up the tires and concentration. In Ramsau, we slow down for a while, the village is like a fairy tale, but for us it is a fairy tale on two wheels. Followed by Heinfeld and Bernau, where the road takes us deeper into the forest. Here the curves line up like pistons on a ribbon. There is no equal, only left, right, Obertriesting, Untertriesting, Neuwald. We go through each one without stopping but with respect. Small villages, but the powerful scenery of Sankt Korona am Schopfl. The name sounds serious, but the path is even more serious. Pass, dense forest, asphalt in perfect condition and rhythm just right. No panic braking, just fine metering. Pure pleasure. Klein Mariazell and Altermarkt an der Triesting, postcard from Austria. Through Nostach, Dorfler and Groisbach we pass quickly, the terrain becomes moderate, the curves soft, the plains more frequent, but the landscape is still green. Eyes full of pictures, Alland slowly brings us back to civilization, traces of urban life can already be seen, but the smell of the forest still holds us. Next comes the back, Sittendorf, Sparbach, Weissenburg bei Modling. We’re coming back. The tempo slows down, but the feeling is full. Over 200 km, over 10 different places without a single problem. Just driving, friends, nature and motorbikes. Today, every kilometer had its own the story. From climbing through forest passes to fast sections in open valleys. This route is not just a ride, this is an experience to remember. On the faces under the helmets, perhaps fatigue, but also satisfaction. This is what we drive for. Not for the destination, but for the journey. Some of us are seeing each other for the first time today, but after a ride like this, we become a team. No big words. A nodding glance in the rearview mirror is enough . And you know everything. A few more curves. The city is there somewhere , but we haven’t gotten out of moto mode yet. The heart still beats to the rhythm of the machine. Before I reveal to you what you will see by the end of the episode, I will tell you what awaits you by the end of the series. Tomorrow I continue with Milan via Graz to Maribor. I will stay there for two days, and then I will go to Dalmatia to Darko’s place, then to Mija Caktaš’s in Split. In Split, I will see Željan Rakel and Duja Laštra. Part of it has already been shown before in my videos. We’re going back to real time. We got closer to Vienna. We will go to lunch together. First I will ask Dejan Varaderos about how KTM performed, and then I will talk to Milan, and then to Eduardo, to see how they managed as guests today. The engines are getting the job done, but the impressions are just getting started. We traveled over 200 km of the most beautiful roads in Lower Austria. Every place we passed is a new scene in a movie that we direct ourselves. The team remained strong until the end. No mistakes, no forcing, just real driving. Everyone knew their place in the column and it showed. Good pace, good energy, respect in traffic and in the group. At the end, a parking lot, a hug, a laugh. A day like this does not happen often and is never forgotten. Deki, how did KTM perform? Excellent. Excellent. The difference from Varadero is considerable, so we still need to work together, but definitely the strength is the new technique, the new suspension. quite different. So, advantage on the side of KTM? Advantage, advantage. Although in certain situations Varadero is needed. Yeah. But, I say, we will get used to it in time. It’s definitely a better engine . You can’t miss it. Yes. But Varadero will not be abandoned or forgotten by us. He stays. Milan, what do you say? Was it a slow ride? Well, now in the second part I went a little ahead, so… Tell me, you had a KTM? Only 890, I didn’t have a big one. Were you satisfied? Yes, I was, it’s just a little hard for travel. It is very good for terrains like this, but for traveling, I don’t know about this big one, but for long distances, that one killed me. When did you have it, what year? 2022. That’s before GS, so? Before GS, since everyone recommended BMW for my trip. Here we are now. Eduard, what are your impressions? Great. Have you ever driven this route? I didn’t, I didn’t, I was there at that Kalte Kuchl, but I wasn’t here. Naked lasted? Withstood. You don’t have flies on your windshield. I don’t, I don’t. That’s a big advantage. That’s right, I’ll lift it up a little, we’ll see. Did he get a yellow card today, maybe? It’s not. No. No, good . Let’s go slowly. Come on. On hot kebabs. Maki, have the buns arrived? They arrived, they arrived happily. Is the boss there? The boss is here. A little while ago on the bike, now. Now in the kitchen Now in the kitchen At Imbis Top pizza at 23.bicir in Vienna, the grill and service were superb. Deki, how is Deki, are you tired? Yesterday, I did. Olja, are you working tomorrow? And tomorrow only 12 o’clock. And who chose KTM? Well, I don’t know, both of them. Both, tried. So you tried it before? We tried. And that’s it. So , it pulls better, I should say it goes better, but Varadero is Varadero. And what other bike have you tried besides the KTM? BMW and what we tried. I tried a BMW like yours. Which one, GS? That GS of yours that… Oh well, we tried the Crosstourer NT 1100. Triumph 1000. There you go… thanks for coming, for responding. Thanks for the invitation. So see you another time. Olja…Thank you and the same to you. I’ll see you, call me when you’re here again. We greet each other and leave satisfied. It was a really wonderful gathering today. That would be all for today, and in the next episode, you will see my departure for Maribor with this man. Good morning. Good morning, I was already out of town What? I took a wrong turn. It doesn’t matter. I should have gone straight, I turned right. You’ve seen little of Vienna. And instead of 2 km, I immediately had 10. Thank you for your attention and all the best
