After arriving in Canada from Hawaii, we successfully purchased a cute used American car! Then, while being taken care of by Ryota’s host family, we completed our DIY project After that, we crossed over to Vancouver Island and took a road trip over the course of two months! After finishing a tour around the north side of Vancouver Island, I came down to a surf town called Tofino This morning, I checked the waves at Cox Bay, and they were about chest to shoulder high It was a bit rainy and cold, so it seemed tough to surf longboards, so I decided not to go in I just came to South Chester Man Beach to check the waves I arrived in Tofino the day before yesterday, and on the first day, I visited various surf shops and cafes Since I didn’t have a wetsuit, I bought a 5mm wetsuit I purchased a used one for $100, and there were boots with mismatched sizes being sold for $5, so I bought them even though the sizes were different I went surfing at North Chester Man Beach yesterday morning, but the moment I got into the water, my boots filled with water It was really cold Was that the coldest water I’ve ever experienced in my life? The water was seriously cold I ended up feeling frustrated because I could only catch one wave Today is the third day, and I just checked the waves, but there weren’t many If the weather were nice, I would want to go in, but since the weather is bad, I’m hesitating a bit The forecast says it will be sunny in the afternoon, but it seems like the wind will be blowing Since it’s a north wind, it’s a bit side onshore So it will be sunny in the afternoon I think I might join if it seems like the wind won’t have much of an impact and it looks enjoyable Yes, so from now on, I will head towards town a bit Since my boots are no longer usable, I’m thinking of just buying a new pair I think I’m going to check out the shop now So cute! It’s cute, though I saw this place the day before yesterday, too It was super cute Ryota got a wetsuit here for $75 Next up is Surf Sister This is the store where I got a used wetsuit for 100 dollars I’ll take a look here Oh, that’s cheap! 80 dollars? 20% off? In the end, Surf Sister was the cheapest again This brand new Billabong 5mm boots were also $71 I think it’s the cheapest With all the taxes included, it’s $71.6, which is great! I’m glad! I was able to buy it, so this is still better Once you dive in, the cold water won’t seep in anymore Yes I’ve come to North Chester Man Beach again It’s getting sunny It’s getting sunny~! Haha, wasn’t it more than 3 hours? It was quite a long time The waves were pretty big in the first half, and it was scary for me After moving to the point where the beginner on the left is doing the school, it took about 1 or 2 hours, and gradually the surface of the waves became smoother The waves calmed down a bit, and I was able to ride a few good ones But I still need more training Ayumi, you need a bit more training But isn’t this wave a bit difficult for nose riding? We can do it I’m barely managing to take off, let alone anything else We had dinner and took a break, so we came back to the beach I ended up buying new boots after all The warmth is completely different from yesterday, and I was able to get in easily Is this the feeling of winter in Chiba? I’ll drink later, but the fog is really thick today after surfing I checked the waves this morning, you know The fog was so thick that I couldn’t see at all, and since the waves were cold, we decided to come to town for a bit Shall we go check the waves later? Isn’t it super cheap to get a combo of carrot cake and leftover bread from yesterday for just $2.50? It’s really cheap! The bread I wanted a little was sold out What kind of guy goes early in the morning? It’s something called a Tofino bar with chocolate on it You have to wake up early Bakeries really do sell out of the good stuff, don’t they? Well then, let’s go to the beach!
